We went to the Hare and Hounds for Sunday lunch and it was brilliant. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was really good. We had the roast beef Sunday roast and there was plenty of food, fresh vegetables and beautiful meat. Highly recommended.

Well where to start. The pub looked very nice, exactly what we wanted from a country pub. The staff are very friendly and they have a good selection of drink. We then decided to eat there. Unfortunately this is where it went Pete tong. We ordered a starter to share and 3 pizzas. The starter came out in good time. The waiter then said he would clear the plates and would we like our main ms all together. Of which our reply was yes please. We proceeded to wait for a further two hours to get 3 pizzas of which at this point our friends mains still hadn’t arrived. We had to leave and get the pizza in a takeaway box and we have a young family and at this point it was 8:30. To add salt to the wound my sons pizza only had one of the three ingredients he had asked for on it!!! I then decided to call the establishment of where I was met with I don’t really know what to do to compensate this and the two toppings missing were a couple of pound and that we can have a free drink next time we are in. Well I think angry, annoyed and trusted to say the least only covers half of it. Need I say more other than what a complete shocker of an evening, pub, service and food. We will not be returning!!!

As a last minute decision we decided to head out for Sunday lunch. We called around the local pubs and this one had availability so off we went. The staff seemed friendly at first but this soon changed. We needed a high chair for my 11 month old, one was fetched. I sat him in the seat and about two seconds after letting go of him the bit of the high chair he sat on fell away and he fell down through the bottom hitting his chin on the bar at the front on the way down, crying his eyes out I picked him up and went to tell someone what had happened. I was told with absolutely no empathy that when I called my partner hadn’t stated we needed a high chair (so because he didn’t state we needed a high chair it’s our fault they gave us a faulty chair that my child hurt himself on). He ended up sitting in the pram to eat. We then ordered some drinks, I’d asked for Diet Coke and it came as a normal Coke. It was taken away and changed but not without a face like thunder coming my way first. When the food came it was cold - the vegetables were bog standard - nothing special! Our 7 year olds child’s meal was almost as much as ours and she definitely had a lot less than £2 worth of food compared to us.There are much better pups for a Sunday lunch - I’ll be avoiding this one in the future !

My first visit to the Hare and Hounds was this evening. I took my daughter for dinner. We were made really welcome by the bar staff. The food was great. I had the chilli and my daughter had fish and chips. It’s a proper country pub with logs fires, friendly locals and good beer. Highly recommended and I will be going back!

There was quite a long wait for our order due to a problem in the kitchen with the power, however we were not told this on arrival, we still would have dined there but it would have been nice to know beforehand, the food was worth waiting for, it came out hot and nicely cooked and is reasonably priced, we would eat there again

My husband and I have now been to this Pub several times and its always nice and cosy, friendly staff and good food and a good pint too. One side of the pub has wooden tables and chairs like the old fashioned types and on the other side of the bar there is a lovely log fire going in the cold weather. They don't mind dogs in the pub either which is great as my daughter has a dog who now knows the way to the Pub really well! There are table and chairs outside for the summer or people who like a smoke and a parking area as well if you need to take the car. I believe they can reserve tables for eating especially if you are a big party. Quite often you go into the Pub and on the table there is cheese and pork pie for everyone and they even have biscuits and water for your dogs! Love this Pub very much. We are lucky that we are within walking distance too!

Was expecting exceptional food as my son had been going on about how wonderful it is, however although the beef was very nice the yorkshire pudding was soggy & all the rest although it was well cooked was Luke warm, I like my food hot! Pudding was apple pie & custard the pie was Luke warm & the custard was completely cold. Very disappointing & we will not return.

Been to this pub a few times over the last couple of years and it never disappoints. The food is always of a high standard, lots of choice with large portions to boot! With log burning open fires the pub is rustic but you always get a warm welcome, the staff are friendly to a fault and will always have a chat to anyone who comes in. The bar has a choice of beers that you rarely see with guest ales changing but excellent ones being a stable choice. A good selection of wines too to go with the cracking food. If you fancy getting out of Stamford or Bourne, you won't go wrong with this place.

We went to The Hare & Hounds yesterday for Sunday lunch. It was an extremely cold day and the two of us were hoping to warm up inside. Not so. The dining area had no heating despite the fact that there was a large open fireplace at one end. If there had been a fire in it, that would have made a tremendous difference to our enjoyment. We had noticed piles of firewood stacked outside in the car park but obviously this is kept for special occasions.

I have eaten several times at the Hare and Hounds and also enjoy a beer or two there on occasions. The pub has an old world oak/wood interior with open fires which I really like. The staff are always friendly and there is an excellent selection of beers. The Sunday lunches are home cooked and very tasty, the portion size is huge! I have also had the rack of ribs on several occasions and my wife the fish and chips which again were very good. The pub is well worth a visit and I highly recommend it!

We have been as a family on many occasions for family birthday meals out. We have always been well catered for - despite having 12 or more people. we were allowed to decorate the bar and table area for a significant half century birthday and had excellent food, all served at once, all piping hot, all fresh and all tasty!Try the 18oz steak or the short ribs, (ask about these) you wont be disappointed. We have also tried nearly all the pizzas, the burgers, the lasagna, the chicken - all great!I agree that the menus could be reprinted as some are now looking well used, but this is a nice country pub so i can forgive them that!Well worth a visit!

Visited here with friends for tea, as I have a wheat intolerance needed to check the menu before we went and was happy the pub had GF options including pizza. We had booked a table and it was at. 7:30pm so not late. Ordered the Gf pizza, they needed to check they had some, answer was yes it was the last one and then the waiter took my order and we all then had ordered our food, 5 minutes later he comes back apologising that the last one had now been sold, obviously one other waiter had got someone's order in before ours. They had sold out of Gf crumble and nothing else I could eat, was offered Nachos !!. Complained that maybe the website should stipulate best to order in advance to save a wasted journey, we decided to eat elsewhere and was about to leave when the chef came out and was quite rude and suggested we book in advance as he had only made 6 pizzas and had been busy. Was this our fault? I think not. Very rude, and will not visit here again.

The real ale was well kept and high quality, and the lady behind the bar was pleasant, chatty, and interested in us, all the qualities required. We have visited twice now and have been blown away by the quite superb food served up by chef and landlord Steve.First time was on Bank Holiday Monday when we stumbled across the charming beamed & rustic pub when everywhere else we tried were closed for food....There loss was our gain - warm welcome, dog friendly & and array of hand pulled beers - perfect!!We chose the scampi and Joshua chicken burger.... Wow - 14 pieces of whole-tail and a burger I find hard to describe it was that amazing, both accompanied by the best triple cooked chips we have ever tasted!!Second visit yesterday for Sunday Lunch as recommended by local & regular Frank/o?Melt in the mouth roast beef & lamb, perfect vegetables with fantastic roast potatoes (left overs I'm told end up on the bar after food service over!!) and incredible Yorkshire puddings. - that were as big as Frank had we thought over-exaggerated the week before!!Amazing puddings finished our meal off to perfection....Next time it's starters followed by a very tempting cheese board which includes one of my favourites - Cornish Yarg. All in all top marks all round for food, staff and a lovely quaint village pub which needs shouting about but on the flip side needs to be kept as our secret....Will be returning very soon!!

My partner and I love a pizza - so thought we try this place out. Bottom line is - food was good, but the restaurant is dark, dingy and looks very grubby! We both thought the tables and chairs were filthy and very sticky! The room itself is very dark and there is the potential for outside seating but instead as you drive up you see a very neglected and overgrown garden! The pizza itself was great - but I wouldn't have had anything that hadn't been in a boiling hot pizza oven as I would question the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen looking at the standard of cleanliness in the rest of the place! Disappointing!

We arrive at 7.00pm, 20mins later ordered our food “four pizzas with additional toppings” as on a fairly tight schedule we thought this would be a quick and easy option. After 45 minutes had passed we started to wonder where our food was. So went to the bar and ask, and we were then told the "chef" was feeling unwell due to poor health, no apology for our extraordinarily long wait. At this point we should have left as working in a kitchen whilst ill breaches EHO rules. We finally got our food after about an hour’s wait but not all at once either, three served, and had to wait around a further 10 mins for the final pizza. The "so called chef" could not get the toppings right according to the menu, putting aside the extra toppings which we asked for. I must add all four pizza bases and standard toppings looked far too uniformed as if they were bought in pre-prepared from Morrison’s with extra’s added. So all in all I have to say that we were extremely disappointed. Having been told by locals that the food is better when “the head chef" is working. I would recommend a phone call first to find out who is cooking to ensure a quality meal is served. Maybe, if the landlord is of poor health he should really think long and hard about being in the hospitality industry as defined by the BII, as the two don't go well together. He could also do with learning customer service skills and remember to apologise to his customers for keeping them waiting so long and serving sub-standard food rather than “hiding” behind is health issues sitting at the bar drinking. I know this sounds harsh, but facts have to be addressed. Will give them another chance in the hope all points addressed improve.

Stamford was a good meeting point for a family gathering to celebrate mine and more especially my brother’s 90th birthday. We came from York, Essex and Derbyshire, and so pleased that we picked Stamford and the well situated Tobie Norris. We couldn’t find fault, staff were courteous, friendly and helpful, it was just the right ambiance for the occasion and importantly the food was very good. Would return and recommend.

Ordered for collection, we only live a few doors down and never had a problem before. Ordered a pizza which was fine and Penne Al forno, when we got home the toppings on the pasta were black! My partner brought it back and the awful woman Chef tried to tell my partner that its prone to burning. The only reason im giving a 3 star for service is because the gentleman behind the desk agreed it was burnt and couldn't appologise enough. If the lady had dealt with it i feel this could of been a different situation. I work in hospitality myself and i do not work in a chain that is nearly as expensive as this establishment and i wouldnt dream of telling a customer im sorry but the dish you ordered is just prone to burning. They replaced the order thanks to the gentleman but the second time the pasta was rock hard and not edible. I'm gutted because we love pizza express but the food at Stamford pizza express has gone so downhill. The server was good but you definitely should look into replacing the cooks or providing more training.

Perhaps not known as a pub that bikers go to, but my friend and I have made countless visits over the years from over the border in Leicestershire on our old sports bikes. It starts with an amazing ride on empty roads, a warm and friendly welcome from the landlord and regulars ,followed by a great beer. Can't wait for the Covid situation to improve so that we can get over to a truly great pub again.
