Lovely atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Perfect welcome into Edinburgh! Can’t recommend the haggis neaps and tatties with the whisky sauce- beautiful!

Strange at first but then really good. I ate it with the whisky sauce and I recommanded it ! Thanks for this really good experience

I went w my class there and it was the first time I tried haggis, I really liked it even though it lead me to a big diarrhea that completely slaughtered the toilet , it was like Hiroshima but the explosion was stinkier I d advice you to not go to the men toilet, there must be some leftover of my poopburst

Came in for lunch with a friend and ordered 2 lattes and 2 portions of haggis neeps and tatties. We were served by Adam Thompson, who made us beautiful looking lattes. He really made our experience. Table service was really quick and food tasted amazing. Would 100% recommend. Will be back.

Located in a story telling/library but food area was very clean, and quite busy. Food presented very nicely and quite tasty. Set us up for the afternoon. It looks a small portion but its actually not - it does have a bit of height in the bowl!

Visited during the fringe and was so excited to find somewhere that was specifically for haggis as my partner and I love it (I'm vegan and a frequent visitor to Scotland so love trying the different veggie haggis on offer if I can get it). Sadly I was left disappointed. The vegan haggis was very dry with little flavour, it was overwhelmed by the sauce-though I needed an extra helping to compensate the dryness. Cost price a bit steep too at over £30 just for lunch - 2 drinks cost as much as one of the haggis portions. That said, my partner enjoyed his meat haggis and the neeps and tatties were good. Really friendly staff and a great atmosphere, just not somewhere I'd return unfortunately.

Last year Mum and I came to the Edinburgh Tattoo on a last minute whim. Nothing planned for when we got here but the Tattoo. While wandering we came across this lovely cafe. I had never had Haggis, nor did I know what Neeps were (46 yrs and not a clue 🤭) After a little lesson from mum, we decided I was going to try it. We got a haggis, tatties and neeps with whiskey cream sauce to share...just in case...I so wished we had got two! Fast forward a year and we came back to Edinburgh for the Tattoo and Fringe (much better planned) but I couldn't wait to go back to The Haggis Box cafe for my very own haggis, tatties and neeps and it didn't let me down...delish 😋

Would definitely recommend this as a nice spot for lunch to get away from the hustle and bussle of the Royal Mile. The portion size for the haggis wasn’t massive but the sauce it came in was divine. There was a choice of two and we option for the creamy whisky sauce.

Popped in following very good reviews & my love of haggis. I was not disappointed with the haggis flavour - very nice and yummy. However, i was slightly disappointed in the portion size for the price paid £11.50 (including sauce). However i will caveat it with the fact i was ravenous from a 12 mile run earlier in the day! My wife said her portion was ample. We were also given a complimentary shortbread - i have to say that was delicious! Best shortbread i’ve ever tasted.

Tucked away in the Storytelling Centre the Haggis Box serves up a national classic without frills but full of flavour. We had the traditional haggis with whisky mustard sauce we are haggis novices but the dish was flavourful and exceptionally tasty.

Staff were excellent. first visit I had a latte, very acceptable but, hey, it's a latte. went back a couple of days later for a haggis. We stumbled over this place and how glad we were! We both had haggis, neeps and tatties with the whisky and mustard creamy sauce. Great price for the quality of the food and beautifully served. I'm coeliac and so having a gluten free option was fab. In fact, all of their haggis is gluten free anyway which was so reassuring. I would certainly recommend this little gem of a place to anyone visiting Edinburgh who wants to try something regional and authentic. Fab staff too.

My hubby and I popped in here for a late lunch (and with a hangover) on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. I ordered the haggis with the whisky sauce and hubby ordered the version with the red wine sauce. Both versions were delicious and comforting - just what was needed! The server was very friendly too. We would 100% come back!

Oh my goodness. The most gorgeous haggis, neeps and tattiesbi have ever eaten. I had mine with whisky sauce and it was so delicious. Easily located on the main walk down from the castle this place is not to be missed! The staff are super nice and willing to tell you all about their products that are locally sourced. The portions are a good size too. Definitely a ‘must visit’ if you are in Edinburgh. Also very reasonably priced. We tried the haggis with whisky sauce and a bacon butty. Both were hot and fresh but the haggis is definitely a highlight. The haggis came with 'neeps and tatties' (swede/turnip mix and mashed potato).You can also get hot and cold drinks here. Definitely worth a go just for the haggis!

Me and my husband ordered Haggis, Neeps and Tatties for £6.50 and Whisky cream mustard sauce. It was absolutely delicious. This was my first time eating haggis and we had seen it being sold in other places nearby for more than twice the price. The venue had nice big tables all safely set apart from each other so we were all very socially distanced from everyone. Staff very friendly and happy to answer queries.

Born and raised in Scotland, I've eaten haggis on many occasions. Was put off as a teen by a few that just tasted a bit strange...Moved down south 20 years ago so whilst visiting family in Edinburgh, gave this place a try. Oh my goodness, I am so glad I did! Restored my love for this fine cuisine. My kids had never tried haggis before either as it's not easy to come by where we live and there was thumbs up all round. Highly recommend!

The woman who was working here seemed incredibly rushed off her feet despite it not being that busy, as she seemed to be the only one cooking/preparing and serving/taking orders. It was well worth the wait though, and I really enjoyed the authentic haggis and felt the extra £1 was well worth it for the mustard sauce as otherwise it may have been a little dry for me.

We were pining for our first taste of haggis without having to sit in a restaurant as we were both full to the brim. The haggis box popped up as an unpretentious and relaxed venue. Greeted by a friendly face, we were welcomed into a beautiful exhibition like area with artwork on the walls depicting classic fairytales and stories. We ordered a single haggis to share with a traditional whisky and mustard sauce. It was DELICIOUS.The haggis meat tasted great and the tatties and neeps (?) were smooth and creamy. My partner and I visited The Haggis Box midweek in June. We had the vegan haggis which was super delicious - very tasty and wholesome. We were the only ones in there when we went. The lovely guy serving us explained due to the theatre and offices above being shut, various workshops usually held there cancelled and the current roadworks outside - they are really struggling! Do hope they make it through as the food was amazing, the prices very reasonable and the service was great. We'd visit again in a heartbeat!

The Haggis Box is tucked away in the Scottish Storytelling Centre towards the Holyrood Palace end of the Royal Mile. We sought it out after reading other reviews and can say it was well worth the effort. During our short trip to Edinburgh we tried Haggis in a fine dining restaurant and for breakfast at our hotel but I can definitely say the best by far was served up by Adam at The Haggis Box. Warm welcome, quick service and great prices, well worth making the effort to find this Edinburgh treasure.

Lives up to the reviews. The haggis was excellent and the host is very friendly with excellent service. I had the red wine gravy sauce and it was very tasty. Great value.

I'd never tried haggis and I was a little reluctant but I have to admit that it was absolutely fantastic. Perfect portion size for price, guy that served us was incredibly friendly and even came over to check we were enjoying it. Not what you usually get from a takeout!Two sauce options, one is a red wine gravy and the other a whisky, creamy mustard type one, and they were both delicious. Honestly wish we hadn't left our visit here until our last day because we'd definitely have been frequent visitors otherwise!

Rather than eat this in a traditional restaurant we saw this place as we walked into the Grassmarket. Perfect portion size and they even catered for my vegetarian daughter! Definitely try this if you’re in the area!

Solo el factor novedad hizo que la espera valiera la pena; refiriéndose tanto a la comida como al establecimiento del tamaño de una "caja" desde donde se vende. Nos sentamos afuera en un banco público en una mezcla de nubes / sol a principios de marzo, una tarde ventosa con temperaturas de 50 grados. Perfecto. No se puede superar la experiencia por 7. 00.

Walked across town to find this little gem, nearly walked past it, but once spotted found the guy running was real friendly, full of info and served up a nice portion of haggis with mustard and whiskey sauce, not a restaurant it's a old police box so no indoor seating if that's what you're looking for but definitely go try it

The lovely Laura, owner and haggis goddess was friendly, gracious and very attentive to my brothers VEGAN needs. We barely could taste a difference between the regular haggis and the vegan, both SO delicious. We all agreed it was our favorite meal of our month long trip. I could eat Laura’s haggis with neeps and tatties every day. So if you’re in Edinburgh take a walk down the royal mile to The Haggis Box, you’ll be so happy you did.
