All I need to say is that this was the BEST Sunday dinner we’ve ever had. Excellent service and tasty food. Not over priced at all. My husband is a coeliac and they do GLUTEN FREE YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS. Other eating establishments take note - it not only CAN be done, it SHOULD be done. Will return.

Mothers Day lunch at Guy Fawkes today was amazing the food was excellent and despite the pub being so busy all the staff were lovely and made us Mums ☺️ The section of ice creams 😋 try the treacle one 😋😋😋

Always do a fantastic lunch set menu meal deal but this surpassed all previous ones. Apparently chef over ordered too much fillet steak so they thought they would treat their lunchtime customers ! They certainly did! Fillet steak medallions with fries , veg and peppercorn sauce for a £3 supplement making it just £22.95 for 2 courses with a brilliant and authentic French onion soup, whilst the wife had a mackerel pate starter, equally delicious. Black sheep on top form too! Excellent , friendly and efficient service too. There are not too many benefits of getting old but being retired and enjoying the Guy Fawkes is one of them!

We arrived table available on time good Sunday lunch menu. Food served by great staff. Food of a high quality and presentation and very tasty.

Went for an early evening Sunday meal. Friendly welcome by staff who were attentive throughout. Good selection on menu at reasonable prices. Good sized portions. Very tasty food, which was well presented and served promptly. Lovely log fire. Very busy. Well worth a return visit.

Best of the best. It is a real treat to witness the most brilliant service and have the most wonderful meals. Everyone at the Guy Fawkes Inn are at the very top of their game, great to see.

Each of our 3 courses were delicious 7 adults and 2 children. No complaints whatsoever. The service was very friendly and efficient. And price wise it was very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

A lovely pub a short distance from our campsite, lovely food and attentive staff. The fish and chips was delicious and very well presented

My wife and I visited today and we were not disappointed. The food was fabulous beautifully cooked. The service was exceptional. The management and staff were lovely and friendly There is easy access for disabled people.The toilets were spotlessly clean. There is a decent size car park with a small sitting out area weather permitting. Well worth a visit.

We feel very lucky to be in walking distance of this great place. So many lovely meals- never been disappointed. As usual the food was excellent and so plentiful. The service as always was great- cheerful and helpful staff. We were particularly impressed with the provision for the children and so lovely to see a children’s menu that was child size portions of adult food- not the fish fingers etc. that you so often see. We will continue to be regulars!

Went for a drink on a Sunday, absolutely packed with diners, but space for us. Super friendly bar staff and locals made to feel very welcome. Beer well kept, food looked fabulous. Will return.

Fabulous visit to The Guy Fawkes Inn. Cannot fault anything….Food, service and atmosphere just brilliant. Wouldn’t hesitate in eating here again when visiting Knaresborough another time.

We have just had an excellent Sunday lunch here at the Guy Fawkes Arms. Food delicious, especially the cauliflower cheese! Lovely dining room, very comfortable chairs and well spaced tables. Called Wednesday lunch 17 January. Was passing and decided to go in. Passed many times but this was the first visit. Pleasantly surprised. Warm and cosy and made very welcome by the young man and young lady. Service with a smile. French onion soup to start and sausage and mash with vegetables for main. Absolutely spot on, could not fault any of it, pat on the back for the Chef. Both dogs also made welcome. Would highly recommend a visit. Steve Pierce

A group of four of us called in for dinner and I've got to say it was superb. Two of us had the moules mariniere for starter and they were delicious. We kinda tasted each others mains and the short rib and the cod were excellent. Top marks.. just how it should be done.

Brilliant pub & restaurant. 5 star food on every visit we have made (I have worked my way thru the entire menu over the years) & very dog friendly. Whenever I eat at a pub I compare it to here - and the Guy Fawkes remains undefeated.

Gastropub is a term overused by many 'ordinary' Pubs, they should come here to see what the term means. Staff very busy but friendly, prompt and attentive, nothing too much trouble. Dogs are also welcome in the bar area. Menu varies a little but some regular choices stay on, some great choices. Truly great food & service. Excellent again today, nothing here is ordinary!

First time here whilst in the area. Food was fantastic. Service was great and staff friendly and welcoming. Brought family from the area who had never been they loved it. Not the cheapest but you are paying for quality we will definitely come again.

This is the second time we, as a group, have had our Christmas Evening at the Guy Fawkes. There were 14 of us, this year, and we were superbly looked after! The selection of ales at the bar is good, as is the wine list. We had all selected our three courses beforehand, and we were not disappointed. One person, who had chosen mussels as a starter, said they were some of the best he had ever had. Between us we must have covered every item on the Christmas menu, and no one was disappointed. The service was attentive and friendly and we all had a terrific night! Thank you to everyone at The Guy Fawkes Inn for looking after us so well!

Having been bored by local hostelries over the years I remembered 'The Guy' from many years ago! Thank goodness for MEMORY! Wow! A welcome from Danielle like no other! Wonderful ambience, lovely fire..Fabulous range of proper beers! The Daleside Blonde....... The food coming out of the kitchen was glorious! I have found my new local! Thanks Guy Fawkes!!!

Lovely pub and a fantastic pie! A group of four of us are here and we brought our two little dogs. Staff were very friendly and the food was really delicious.

A great Christmas meal was served with all the trimmings. The staff are very friendly and attentive nothing is too much trouble.

Went for our Xmas Dinner with work, staff were lovely and the pub is beautiful. Food was nice but slightly over priced for what it is. I did really enjoy the evening though and will definitely go again.

Had a meal here while stopping in the area. had the chicken and leak pie and a few pints as standard.. Meal really nice staff on the ball and polite.

We stayed locally with friends and had drinks one afternoon then Sunday lunch which was excellent. The staff are really attentive but not pushy and were all really friendly. The food was first class - well presented, hot, served efficiently and delicious (the cauliflower cheese is to die for). What is also really nice is the owner waits on in just the same way as her staff and they work so well as a team. This couple deserve to do well and we will certainly return. You cannot put a price on the service and atmosphere at the Guy Fawkes.

A busy but very comfortable pub. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Great menu choices an food was swift, hot, plentiful and delicious. Their chips are so delicious! A great place to eat but very popular so book ahead.

Whilst staying in the area last week for a few days we went here for an evening meal. All we can say is Wow, fantastic. The place was really busy when we arrived at 7pm but we were instantly met by a gentleman who took us to our table. We booked online, which was extremely easy. The food was superb, steak pie and slow cooked lamb shank with jam rolypoly and Eton mess to follow. Where do you see jam rolypoly these days? All staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend a visit when in the area and our only regret is that this pub is not in our area at home. Thank you everybody.

Very good, so good we booked twice

My husband myself and daughter plus boyfriend had a fabulous meal. The beetroot and goat’s cheese salad was so light and delicious a perfect start to our meal. I had the short rib which was sublime. The rest of party took the duck which was perfectly cooked. We didn’t have room for dessert but after seeing the menu decided to share the jam roly poly and brownies heaven on a plate. The staff were second to none exceptional service and we highly recommend this restaurant.

My third visit in the past year. Consistently first class in every aspect. The menu. And food is unbelievable. The set price lunch is amazing value. If your an ale drinker try the ‘old leg over’.

Although situated in a beautiful village, we felt the inside was a bit disappointing. The welcoming was cold from the bartender. We stayed for about an hour and had no effort to make us feel welcome. The pub was quiet when we arrived. The ale was top-notch though!

Excellent food and excellent service. I'm 73 years old and it's the first time I've experienced a WOW moment when tasting food. It may be to some only a Sunday roast but it was the best tasting beef I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend and when I'm back at the nearby caravan site I will definitely be visiting The Guy Fawkes arms again.

Same thing happened again on this visit. At front of queue at the bar for drinks Some local came in behind me and barman said to him Usual Then said to me I won't be a minute? That's twice this has happened, last time 6 months ago, but thought give it another go? Will not happen again

Food was second to none we stayed in scotton and ate here twice. Both times we couldn't fault it. 100% recommend !!

Staff were extremely friendly and kind, and the food is absolutely mouth watering, plus the atmosphere is nice though abit loud and can be overbearing . The parking is quite tight however, and can be abit difficult.

Booked dinner here as we were travelling down to Knaresborough and didn’t feel like cooking for ourselves in our caravan after the journey. What a treat it was…food was really tasty, piping hot and staff were friendly and efficient. Well done for a really enjoyable meal. Only downside was the size of the car park… this place seems to be so busy that you have to park on the very narrow road outside if the car park is full and it is very tight.

Excellent meal and super service. Definitely need to book in advance. Early bird menu very good value. Lovely pub. Will be back.

Our family of 6 , including an 5 year old Granddaughter, enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night at this fabulous old pub tucked away in a beautiful picturesque Yorkshire village near Knaresborough. All our main meals and puddings were delicious, and very nicely presented. Table service was excellent, staff friendly and efficient. We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable including our Labrador who was enjoyed his dog treats 😊It came recommended to us and we‘d certainly recommend to others and return when we’re back in the area.

What a great pub. Staff were welcoming and I had the best Sunday roast I've ever had. Try "The Full Fawkes" roast... you won't regret it The only thing I regretted was not having enough room for a dessert 😢. They looked delicious. We were not local just staying at a local touring site but felt completely ar home. Dogs also welcome in the bar area

Top class Sunday lunch, couldn't be bettered. Went with mum who's a regular whilst visiting and now can't wait to return. Food was superb, attentive owner who obviously loves what she does. Make a detour to try it.

I’m so sorry Google asked me for a review and I didn’t check the address, apologies! Beautiful location and the restaurant was very warm and welcoming. Perfectly decorated and then lighting was just right. The food was gorgeous, I got the Guy Fawkes burger, Mr R got the Cajun chicken and we shared a cheese board after. The staff were lovely especially the lady who took out order recommending a bottle of wine when we couldn’t decide. My only complaint is the water. I’m used to restaurants bringing jugs of water to the table as standard, we were asked if we wanted water for the table and we said please and gave it no thought. It was only when the bill was brought and we noticed we’d been charged £4 for the bottle. Now I’m fine with paying especially such a small amount however it was not being informed prior to ordering that there would be a charge that was a tad shabby.

Popped into this very friendly pob for a bit of lunch with our spaniel. The staff were very welcoming & helpful. Our dog was treated well & enjoyed some biscuits. The food was absolutely gorgeous, well presented & delicious. The log fire on a dull February Saturday was very warming & relaxing. Highly recommend.

My neighbours thought that it would be good to have Christmas lunch (on the day) prepared, cooked and washed-up by someone else this year (2023). But where to go? Do we trust others reviews? Ambiance? Staff? Beer? Gin? Wine? Oh, and grub? Veggie? Meat? Fish? Clearly a scientific approach was required! For the next 10 months (we missed January!) we shall visit 10 pubs/restaurants to establish which venue suits us the most. Our first contender was the Guy Fawkes Arms, Scotton, which we visited on Saturday 18th February 2023 between 12:00 and about 14:30. A table for 8 had been booked in advance. By the the time we departed about 14:30, most tables looked taken, so booking in advance looks advisable. By the way, the neighbours group consists of 8 people. Of which, 5 female, 3 male. Ages: five are 60+, one 50+ and two in their 30s. Results: No grumblings or complaints. Everyone gave high praise. Ambiance: good. Log fire. Staff: just right. Not pushy. No annoying prats. All orders taken efficiently and served correctly. A smooth well oiled machine BUT we were treated as valued customers. Friendly without being aggravating. Portion sizes were generous. Dishes we had included: Fish and chips Steak and ale pie Chicken pie Moules marinière Ice cream + others The lunch menu was particularly good value. For example two courses for £17. Toilets clean and modern. Of course, as a grumpy old git, I have to moan about something. One: the actual pub car park is very small! Room for about 8 small/medium sized cars? We arrived about 11:35 and it was fine. Clearly the pub can't do anything about this, just something to note. If you arrive later, be prepared to park on the street. And doors don't open until 11:55. Two: a wider choice of bitters would be good. I had Roosters YPA (4.2%). Which was fine. Something a little stronger, for those of us not driving, would have been great! Overall score? Out of 10? I'd give it 10, if the beer selection was wider. So 9.5. I think the other 7 neighbours would likely give it 10 or there abouts.

Wow!! Amazing the culinary excellence is second to none the kitchen sent out amazing food, high quality restaurant standard in the comfort of a friendly warm open fire pub. Mussels starter was super tasty with fresh mussles. Prawn cocktail was average for me only because I like mine drowning in sauce. Duck main star of the show ✨️ superbly cooked best duck everrr! Cauliflower cheese side delicious! We never do dessert but just had to White Russian crème brûlé was devine with homemade shortbread and blueberries and syrup sponge amazing! We booked straight away for Sunday roast the next day and that did not disappoint. The staff were fantastic service was super fast we can't wait to visit again.

We booked lunch here from our home in the Netherlands after reading the reviews here and elsewhere. We headed here from the ferry. I can confirm it was well worth it. This was the best Sunday roast I've ever had in a restaurant. The staff were delightful and my only regret was not leaving room for one of the wonderful-looking desserts. I will return for the sticky toffee pudding. Criticisms? The car park is very cozy, but this old village wasn't built with cars in mind.
