The Grill in Aberdeen City

Was a bit trepidatious about coming in given the frosted glass (typical of 'locals only' type pubs). However couldn't have been more wrong - great atmosphere inside, very busy but not too crowded, friendly staff. The interior is large with interesting old features. There's a lot of whiskeys here too if that's your thing.

Classic old school pub, great atmosphere, divine selection of whisky and not pretentious or false like a lot of places in Aberdeen. Feels like being back in the 80s/90s here. Sheila the barmaid fantastic so friendly and helpful

Fabulous interior in this bar on the busy Union Street. My choice of ales went down really well. Will visit again and recommend.

Nice local pub, just popped in for a quick drink when we walked in we got a big smile from the barman and he asked if we were OAPs and gave me a discount on my pint and the wife's lemonade was free

Was charged 40£ for what should have been 14£. Scumbags. Daytime robbery. Avoid that place at all costs..

I ordered a single MacAllan 18 year old. I was charged 40£ for it. A bottle of the named spirit can be bought for 300 from any online vendor. Instead of applying a reasonable markup th try are applying a 4x markup on that price. Plain rip off. Avoid that venue unless you are prepared to overpay.

Nice Whisky-Pub, as I like it. Very big sortiment of Whiskys and also Whiskeys. Very helpfull seviceteam. Your kids can wait outside😅, no entry for under 18.

Was mad busy on a Friday evening, great atmosphere. Big whisky range of mainly the "big names" but if you can get to the bar at a quiet time imagine there's some rarer ones! 5 Scottish cask beers too, all round a great pub.

Dentro, invece, si è rivelato un posto eccezionale dove bere, purtroppo non fanno da mangiare ma l’ambiente è confortevole e amichevole, sia la gestione che l’utenza. Ho conosciuto due scozze li. Mike e Bryan con cui ci siamo messi a chiacchierare e bere in maniera amichevole!! Splendido.

Historic bar with an eclectic mix of customers, welcoming staff. You won't find many of these types of bars left (great historic interior) so they need to be frequented and enjoyed while we have them.

Good working man's pub. Nothing to fancy. Great selection of Malts and the staff are very nice. You can have a pie or a wee snack if you fancy it. Recommended

Amazing dedicated whisky bar. Around 300 excellent bottles of mostly lesser known, local whiskies, competently recommended and served. Although it is very conveniently located on the city's main street, it is simultaneously rather secluded and does not try to draw in casual tourists, so you can have your dram surrounded by the locals, fellow whisky aficionados, and some interesting history. The place to go for whisky experience in Aberdeen.

Von außen ganz unscheinbar, wären wir nicht zusammen mit unserem Reiseführer dahin gegangen, wären wir bestimmt vorbei gelaufen. Aber drin sah es richtig super aus, die Bar hatte soviele Sachen zum trinken. Solche Flaschen habe ich so noch nie gesehen. Normale Preise, in der Bar im Hotel wäre es teurer gewesen

Best whisky bar in Aberdeen Scotland

STRONG SMELL OF URINE Great bar if you love the dense smell of stale urine. Every time the toilet door opens the pub is filled with a dense smell of urine. It's absolutely awful and there is no escaping it. You can see people waiving their hands across their faces when the toilet door opens. There's an old saying, you can tell a pub by its toilets, and these toilets are a disgrace. But the grille expect their customer to put up with such a potent stench of urine while forking out top dollar for drink... in todays world it's just not acceptable. A complete disregard for customers. It is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It completely takes away from the bar itself and I was informed by another drinker that it is an ongoing issue for years now. I met friends there at my recommendation and they were disgusted. And rightly so. It was embarrassing sitting there inhaling the dense smell of urine. We left our drinks and walked out. How can the owners think this is in any way acceptable. Not sure how the staff put up with it. Indeed probably not good for you health either. So it's 1 star all round for me. 'The toilet' would be a better name.

Good old time pub. One of tge oldest in Aberdeen. Unfortunately it would seem the gents toilet smells as old as the pub. Disgusting smell even at lunchtime. You would think it had never been cleaned. However the bar itself boasts a huge range of malt whiskey and spirits. The decor is a throwback from a bygone age which is really good. Overall good all round bar which also serves hot snacks. However I have just returned to Aberdeen after 4 years and once again visited this great pub. Glad to say that the toilets have been greatly improved. Service and selection of drinks was amazing. Would give it 5 stars now.

The Grill Bar is Superb.. wonderful friendly , helpful staff , huge selection of Whiskies to choose from, the interior is immaculate from the wood panelling, polished mahogany bar to the the very impressive Ceiling Coving , The Grill Bar has it all.. I never knew what a Whisky Flight was until i seen in the Grill ..

Quieter than I remember but still a friendly place to have beer or some good grub. Great all around sports coverage on multiple TV. Better than stuck at home.

A small bar to try Scottish Whiskies with about 550 choices. The bar staff know their whiskies, just ask for advice. My love is Tullibardine, not a whisky often found in bars but my favourite.

Like whiskeys? Like 1930's bar fittings? This was a great pub, built in the 1830's and refitted as a pub a hundred years later. The selection of whiskey is immense. The staff are great. It's our new go-to pub in Aberdeen.

While I grabbed a cold cider my husband was treated to a whiskey tour of underlying tastes he won’t ever forget. The staff provided expert guidance and tips on tastings - they have whiskeys there that are no longer being produced… Glenury being one of them. A treat you actually can’t replicate in the future. You can get a flight of whiskeys to take you around Scotland. Beautiful carved wood bar to admire, HIGHLY RECOMMEND especially if you won’t have time for a whiskey tour, which we didn’t. Thank you so much, we are now back in Canada :)
