Had a lovely meal this evening, we were a table of 10 and we all really enjoyed our meals. Great value for money. We'll be back!

Staff always pleasant food is excellent good selection on menue presented well. Very clean with a warm welcome. Some parts are dog friendly and outdoor seating convenient parking with easy access

Long wait for the food, when it arrived it was nearly cold. No staff around. We had pork, but they ran out of crackling & and Apple sauce. Such a shame, very different to our past experiences!

Meal at Griffin was not the best! Service was slow as the girl behind bar kept disappearing. Food wasn't that nice chips were just frozen ones. Pub was quiet. To top it off the new chef was behind the bar wearing Pajamas and slippers!! I cannot believe he was cooking our food! Will not return.

From the welcoming smile to the warm and extremely hospitable host guiding us to our seats... From the head chef taking his time to speak to us, set this place apart. We decided to go for a "Sunday Roast", to give the griffin a fair crack, I ordered the beef with sausages wrapped in bacon, extra roast potatoes, extra Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese for sides... Soft drink, we had "pepsi" But we probably waited 20 to 30 mins not long at all...and all the food was brought out timely and hot. The beef - medium, absolutely outstanding, taste and cook...boom 💥 really nice. Roast potatoes, not from a packet... These badboys were homemade, the kind of roast tatties ya look forward to going to your grandparents on a special occasion. Veg, well...my wife was made up she had parsnips, I gave her my share (vile things lol). The cauliflower cheese...oh the cauliflower cheese. The cheese was a mature cheese with I would say a hint of garlic, and it went superbly well together. Yorkshire's, I would say they were homemade from scratch...nice touch chef. The dining area was clean, all settings were immaculately presented. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and visit to the Griffin. When I review something 5 stars I justify it, and you made both me and my wife welcome...thank you.

It's under new management. We went for Mother in law's birthday and it was lovely. We all had Sunday dinners and they were delicious and the gravy was super flavourful. We have booked in for Mothers day as it was that nice and staff super friendly.

I felt obliged to order something very healthy, so with a sigh, I reluctantly asked for a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Was I glad that I had! It was excellent, every single element was just right. It was so good that when I saw a young man in kitchen whites walking through the bar, I called out to him and said how great it had been, and asked him to pass my thanks on to the kitchen staff. He replied "No staff, just me!" I'm glad my appreciation went straight to the right person. The new people in charge there have only been in the Griffin for a short time, and have already made a difference, a very pleasant young couple working hard to provide just what customers want. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Diolch yn fawr!

After hearing this was under new ownership we wanted to try the food out for Sunday dinner and we were not disappointed! Firstly we wanted to shout out Eloise who was our server and very polite and attentive. Kept checking in on us and made sure our food was as expected. We started with a large portion of chicken strips to share and they were hot, fresh and really tasty. We had two roasts, one beef and one duo of beef and turkey. Firstly the meals were really hot when they came out as they should be, portions were huge and the meal was super tasty. After the starter to share we only just about finished it! Lovely meat, spuds and Yorkshires. Really enjoyed this meal and we’ll be back for sure! May skip the starter next time to save some space for dessert! Well done to the new owners and the staff, really lovely food and vibe to the place.

Our local has been through some changes in recent years. Some good and some not so good. We have just had a wonderful Sunday lunch. Issac, the chef, nailed it.

Don't book online as they ignore bookings done there and you might not get a table

Mynydd Isa Butterflies WI had lunch here for the second year running and the food and service were exceptional for such a large group. Everything was managed really well, nothing was too much trouble, as there were a few requests! and food arrived hot and on time. Well done to Danny and the team.

Nice looking place inside and out, but staff are intermittently friendly. Also wouldn't go there on a Thursday again, the pub quizz master was using a 10k rig loud speaker. My insides were vibrating every time he spoke! Nice in the summer when you can sit outside.

Great little pub food was nice but wife ordered sausage an mash in big Yorkshire pudding shame when it came as no Yorkshire pudding ask girl she sorry no Yorkshire ( like having beans on toast with no beans ) should have been taken off menu or at least told before ordering shame as it was our first visit

Called in for late lunch with my mum, the pub was quiet. Nice clean toilets, service was good, we were table checked before I had put any of my meal in my mouth! The chips should have been skin-on, but they were not. Not a deal breaker. The piri piri chicken burger was very nice. My mum had sausages and mash, she said it was very tasty.

Called in with my wife for lunch Friday, bought to drinks but pricey I thought, it says on lunch time menu order from this menu and get a drink for a £1 ,the old lady said it doesn't come with lunch time menu but it clearly says on the menu with the times on it , we didn't complain because the young girl was embarrassed with the old ladies refusing us , shame really because we would of visited here again

Came for Sunday lunch 2 off us had beef and 1 had mixed meat . We ordered extra yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese sauce as an extra . Food was outstanding, meat melted in your mouth and rosties were to die for .James the chef has really made massive improvement to the meals , the food is always excellent.

Came to our local for our tea. I had southern fried chicken burger and chips and husband had gammon and chips . Food was outstanding , service was brilliant , the whole evening was great

Passed this pub thousands of times over the years, always thought we'd pop in one day,, Well the day did come, and it seems a lovely pub, the food smelled really good but we just needed a couple of beers on way back from garden centre shopping !!! Interior looked nice but we decided to grab some sunshine & fresh air in the large rear beer garden,,, could do with a bit of attention to be honest, couple of the bench tables & seating have seen better days & one area was strewn with what looked like builders rubble,, But we did enjoy our cold beers & the friendly locals too,,, Best of luck in these hard times,, Will definitely visit again,,, Slainte.

Can't really rate higher as I've only been to this place once and doubt that I'll go again as irs a bit far out of the way for me

Lovely pub, great ale, lovely staff, however, ordered a chicken salad and the only salad was lettuce and the portion was small and quite pricey, would have expected a larger salad with at least some other salad ingredients.

Was disappointed by the portion size of my fish but they were happy to rectify it quickly. Good choice of beers and good beer garden 👍

We were looking for a decent family pub but with an old interior that done good food & that's exactly what we got. The interior is fab please never modernise it the outside is perfect for families too with a play area. We came and it was very quiet we ordered 5 meals 2 adult and 3 children's followed by dessert. The food was piping hot and so tasty you also get lots for your money! The kids dessert portion size was the same as the adults & they cater for vegan children ( we had 1 dairy allergy). The kids even said how much they enjoyed it - we didn't realise until we were paying that children ate for £1 with every paying adults meal ( deffinately advertise this more even on kids menus - which we were not offered when we sat down we just asked what kids meals they sold) We have already planned to come back from Liverpool with family! The staff were so polite. The only thing I can say to keep ontop of is the condiments being topped up but that's me with my hospitality head on 😅 thank you for a joyable experience can't wait to come back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Came to the Griffen for a meal about a month ago , lovely food . Came again for a birthday meal on Friday 10th , standards have slipped quite abit , not sure if a new chef is in place but something has happened for the standards to dip

Attended for first time and will be back. Only gripe was menu states skin on chips but they came out as regular chips. Quite a small restaurant area separated from the bar area so booking recommended for a table. Other than that, very friendly and attentive staff. We had the mushrooms to start which husband absolutely loved followed by gammon which again he enjoyed. I had halloumi followed by Hunter's chicken which were lovely. Good portion sizes. Reasonably priced and kids eat for £1 on a Monday when bought with an adult meal.

Just been here for lunch with my parents. We all ordered different meals and all was fantastic, food was delicious and hot and perfect. Staff were lovely too. Will definitely be back, specially as we are so local! 100% recommended..

First I'll start with the positives the waitresses were all lovely and the roast potatoes were 10/10... The rest was shocking. The roast beef was like skin graft ,like the sort you get out of a super market in a packet but the worst part was definitely when I walked to use the toilet and the chef/owner who was drinking near the bar with his friends passed wind and they all found if hilarious, on the way back tk my table they were all still laughing about it because it stunk. Not exactly the behaviour you'd expect from a chef .

Under new management. The Griffin is our local and we have been 3 times since the friendly and competent Andy & Kris have taken over and it’s fair to say they are breathing much needed new life into it. All the staff are very cheerful and friendly, they seem enjoy what they do. Our meals were excellent, I can recommend the chicken & ham pie. Food and drinks price I would say are good value especially at this difficult inflationary times. Give it a try, support your local pub.

We travelled up from the wirral as a group of 27 kids and adults for bank holiday Monday and we are so happy we made the effort to we had an absolute ball from the surf simulator to the lovely bbq food and the sand pit every one was looked after and thought about. We all really really enjoyed it.

Visited for the first time, traveling from Devon to see family. Overall friendly bar staff and my children enjoyed the outdoor play area. However noticed older gentleman working (chef or owner not sure) to be quite unfriendly to customers while eating and drinking behind the bar on shift. This sort of behavior ruined the friendly atmosphere of the pub. We had a lovely time and this ruined the experience for us.

So visited the griffin in mynydd isa today for lunch food spot on so nice met the new landlords great people I'm sure they will make this village pub the place to go again good luck I'm sure you will do just fantastic

Attended a private party. Staff very friendly. The bar side was very busy and there was a live band. Great atmosphere within the pub.

I was with friends and we called here for lunch. It was the first visit for some of us and the pub advertised 'food served daily'. We got there shortly after 12 noon and as we walked in the door we were asked if we wanted food . To which we replied"yes". We were told that they don't do food on a Tuesday, which happened to be the day we called in. So we had to turn around and look elsewhere. I think it would be a good idea to point this out on the board which is displayed prominently on the forecourt of the pub. It's very misleading. The pub itself looks good from the outside and from the brief glance I got, the inside looked well presemted too.

First time visited, busy, pleasant helpful staff, wide variety of drinks plus they have a restaurant. Very much a " Local"!!!

A nice cosy pub with an extensive menu, ideal place for a nice pint or family meal.kids friendly with a play area.

After waiting for nearly an hour our meals arrived. Since we had waited so long for our meal, I couldn't be bothered to tell them that the well done steak that I received should have been medium/rare. It took us another half an hour to get a waitress to take our order for dessert. There was only one other table in the restaurant being occupied, so it wasn't as if they were being run off of their feet. After 40 minutes wait I cancelled the order for the desserts and asked for the bill. In all that time we never received an explanation or an apology as to why the food was taken so long. Very poor service and equally bad customer service. Definitely a place to avoid.

Food was nice, but despite there being a large menu online we were only offered a Sunday roast with either chicken or beef which was not explained when we rang to book. Our order took 1hr to arrive even though it wasn't busy. No one came to ask if we needed more drinks and when we asked to order more, our empty glasses weren't cleared. I'm not normally one to complain but we were very disappointed.

First visit today and really enjoyed it. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly feel,helpful staff and chef to friend with dietary needs will definitely return

Very popular. Food was pretty good, it was generally clean and tidy, my only criticism would be that they don't always follow the Covid-19 protocols very well, mask wearing was erratic, their contact tracing QR code didn't work and I had to ask for the signing in book.

I visited the Griffin Inn recently and all I can say is Brilliant! The pub has a new landlady and as well as the existing staff all work in harmony to create a safe friendly relaxed welcoming atmosphere. The pub is open in very difficult times but compared to the social distancing standards of other local pubs in the area operates to a very high standard indeed. The restaurant and bar have plenty of spacing with clear signage to remind persons of the standards required. This pub also has a lovely beer garden to the rear that attracts couples and families alike and in the front of the pub small tables with flower beds that offer a nice touch for couples. The outside of the premises is really attractive and I'm sure this also adds to the attraction of the passing trade, I will certainly be visiting again.
