The Greyhound pub is in Harlow town park. It makes a relaxed spot for lunch with plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was above average pub fare - which also includes vegetarian and vegan options. The park itself is looking lovely and makes a pleasant day out.

Popped in on the way back from town with my husband. The pub is in a lovely parkland setting, but beyond that it's a bit underwhelming. Food was just okay, but inoffensive at least. It's another option for a quick drink if we fancy a change of scenery from our local at least

We often walk our dogs around the town park and finish with a stop in this wonderful dog friendly pub. The staff go above and beyond to make us and our dogs welcome. We ordered lunch today and sausages for our dogs that came in a dog bowl all chopped up. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough and not just for dog owners!

Can’t fault the pub as being dog friendly or the staff but the food is extremely poor. Goodness knows who the supplier is but the burgers are disgusting; certainly no beef in the beefburger! Miller and Carter aside, would recommend a burger at Wetherspoon for half the price and contains beef. So disappointing.

The first time I visited the pub in my summer we was greeted by the loveliest man which was happy, welcoming and great company- let alone being a rep in ibiza and having the bites dog, now I know all of the staff are SO lovely and kind! The venue is always clean, spacious, Covid-19 is taken seriously as soon as you get in temperature checked and things done to make you feel safe Quick waiting time for the food- and goodness the food is unreal! I’ve had the pulled pork burrito- it’s silly how good it is The fish and chips was amazing quality The chicken burger was also Devine The chips are cooked perfect always Overall really lovely little gem in Harlow, thank you for always putting a smile on my partners and myself a face after a hard week at work

There's no car park. There is a 24/7 council pay and display car park close by, but in the evening it's pitch black, and its hard to see where the pay machine is. There is free on road parking about 6 min walk away if you can find a space. We'd booked a table, but it was in a noisy area, and after waiting for about 10 mins for someone to take our drinks order we decided to leave. It was early evening and it wasn't busy. The staff preferred to chat to the regulars who weren't eating.

Awful service today. Queue up for 10 mins only to be told we couldn’t order food for 30 mins as it was too busy. 1 table in the garden taken, 4 out the front and 2 others inside. The lady walked back and forth past us countless times and no smile or apology for the wait no customer contact at all! Asked if we could order and would just wait the extra time only to be told no as they didn’t want to stress the chef out. 20 mins later a couple went up to order and could! So went back up asked to order and still told no it was too busy. In which time 3 out of the 7 tables had got their food. I pointed out the wait time said 15 mins on their chalkboard. Only to be told I don’t understand how much time it takes to prep food and I said I only want a sandwich and then got told well you never said that before so I said well you never asked at which point she went to ask the chef if we could do that now. Only to be told 5 mins later there was no white bread. This was only 1.30 so not late in the day. Once the food was brought over no have a good meal girls can I get you any sauces etc. Not a word. Severely worried how they will cope in busy periods. Ohhh not to mention the outrageous music playing with all swear words loud for the kids to hear. Such a shame and previous visits have been good. Reposting this after posting on Facebook as my Nan was due to have her 90th birthday meal here and we have cancelled as worried after another poor visit last month just to double check it weren’t a one off poor day. It weren’t. Only we we called no question of why we are cancelling such a large over 20 person booking and only to be hung up on.

In a lovely location and very nicely decorated. Such a shame that the food did not live up to expectation. Really mediocre. We would have complained but witnessed the rudeness of staff to a party that did and quite frankly I was horrified. Customer service should be the bedrock of any establishment, you are never going to please everybody but how you deal with it, is ultimately what you are judged on. We decided to just pay and made no comment but I certainly wouldn’t return. As a paying customer you should be able to say if you are unhappy and not expect staff to be so rude and offensive.

We booked well in advance for an anniversary lunch even though it was only half full which is fine, however the service was then poor, food was cold and everything we asked for seemed to be a hassle and inconvenience to them. We were asked to write out our order on paper at our table and told we could only order from the Mothers Day menu, however it turned out all the menu was available. We also had to order our dessert at the same time as the main meal which was odd and told we have to do it this way or they can’t process the order. Food arrived and meat & veg was cold and the potatoes were soggy.

I took my parents to the Greyhound because they had heard that since it had changed hands, the food was now really good. I'm sorry to say that someone else's really good was dreadfully poor to us. When we had chosen from the menu at our table, we waited as we were unsure whether or not someone would come to the table to take our order. I presumed when no one came that we had to order at the bar, which was fine. However, when I got to the bar no other customers were there waiting and I still had to wait to be noticed. I asked the man behind the bar if I should order at the bar or the table. He confirmed it was from the bar, but still didn't take my order and did not muster a smile or friendly greeting. A woman finally came through and took the order. She at least smiled and was friendly. She also brought some water to the table and I must say she was polite. We had a bit of a wait for the food, so expected a good fresh dinner. We all had the Haddock and Chips at £10.95. The batter was awful and dried up where it had been overcooked, but worse than that, the fish was bland and tasteless. In fact, I've had Haddock from a lot of places and I'm not convinced that it was actually haddock at all, or a replacement cheap fish. It was awful. The chips were ok, but just ok and the mushy peas were as expected. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. It has not changed other than a facelift. The food is awful and I wish we'd gone to the fish shop. Don't waste your money.

Absolutely delighted with the refurb, new management and staff. This is our local and i have to say that the old style and management was lacking and so were our visits as a consequence.Since the refurb and change in management/staff we have visited more often than we ever have in all the years we have lived here and will continue to do so under the new management. Each time we have visited it has been fully staffed and all staff have been friendly, polite and helpful and the food has been of a good quality/standard.My husband likes a speciality gin and mentioned this to the manager, we went back the following week and there on the shelf was one of the gins he had mentioned. Now that's customer service!! People need to remember that this is a new business and management are getting to know what clients want and I personally find that feeding back in person on the day is far more constructive than being critical on a website. I wish everyone at the "new" Greyhound all the very best and every success.

We visited the Greyhound on Sunday afternoon. Nice refurb and staff were good, we asked them to turn the music down which they did immediately. There weren't many people in, the service was prompt. The food was really bad, I paid £4 something for a plate of soup that had obviously come from a powder packet (do you remember Maggi soup ? just like that), there were still lumps of powder in it. The bruschetta was really closer to a pizza smothered in cheese with one cherry tomato sliced very thinly. Beer selection was very limited - why can they get a local craft beer on. Was really hoping for a step up in quality to match the refurb but unfortunately not to be.

We used to visit this pub very often back through the years but slowly it deteriorated and so we had stopped visiting last couple of years as it had become tatty, unloved and sad. Different story now though, really impressive refurb. Lots of style to the decor and has lots of potential to now be a very good pub.I've been a little generous on the scoring because it is better than average but I hope some aspects improve in the coming months. It just needs more atmosphere, a friendly welcome and some subtle back ground music may help. It would be such a shame if the refurbishment is not matched by getting those other aspects of customer experience right.Hopefully the coming summer months and a fantastic location in the town park will make the pub very successful.

The food was okay however my boyfriend had a steak which was supposed to be medium rare but came out well done and they didn't have any steak knives. 9 of us and a 1 year old plus one dog. Not a great start - no Irish Whiskey, no dry ginger and seated at very wobbly tables which we had to change ourselves. In fairness we were offered the dregs of what was left in a Jameson bottle with lemonade 'on the house' and the bar staff went to Sainsbury's to get a bottle of Jameson's which we never bothered with. We ordered main courses only which were acceptable if a little overpriced for quality and content. Served on slightly above cold plates didn't help as it made the microwaved vegetables cold in a few moments. The pub is however very tired - sticky carpets, poor decor and a somewhat untidy outdoors - the kind of place where guys would watch football in the afternoon rather than a place to eat. A selection of chipped ramekins was used to present condiments which was not particularly pleasant. In saying all of that, it was OK but not much more than that... There are nicer places nearby which I would go to rather than here again...

Pig headed ignorant man food was disgusting and it was basic and really you can't go wrong with basic food but this pub did. I'm disgusted how rude and how bad his attitude was when I told I was not happy with the food never ever been tarted like that any ware.

Had lunch here. Owner VERY friendly, and made our little dog very welcome as well as us. Not an extensive menu but lots of choice. We both had the home made burger, one with curly fries. It was juicy, well cooked and huge! Council car park now charges but 1st hour is free and isn't expensive overall.Short walk from band stand and adventure playground...which if its a nice day park by Wickes and walk through. Dogs welcome, great grassed play area for kids and regular entertainment. Lots of history as its been there longer than the new town! Toilets could do with refurbishment and had to ask for music to be turned down but overall will visit and eat here again.

Friendly well run pub, Karaoke nights on Wednesdays and Fridays are great nights. Bar staff are friendly as are local clientele, definitely worth a visit
