The Greenwood Tree in New Forest

Popped into The Greewood Tree cafe on a wet March afternoon, for a cup of tea. Decided to make it a treat and had a delicious fruit scone, clotted cream and jam. We were not disappointed- the scones were huge and tasty! The cafe offers a variety of “homemade” scones such as banoffee and caramel made in their own bakery, and lovely cakes. There’s a good choice of gluten and vegan dishes for breakfast, lunch and tea (they even have a separate menu so you don’t have search the symbols on the main menu)! We brought home a takeaway GF “cream” tea with their own “flotted cream” for a family member to enjoy. Will definitely visit again.

Cannot recommend enough. Such friendly, nice servers. The owner was active speaking to customers and asking out feedback. We tried the vegan clotted cream (flotted cream) and I am a convert!

In the past always enjoyed our meal here but the last couple of times not so enjoyable. Asked for a toastie which I thought should be a sealed couple of slices of bread put into a toastie machine but received three dried pieces of toast piled up on each other. I asked if I could have onion or cheese in it and was told I could have onion no mention of extra payments. When paying the bill was asked for an extra £1.30 for the very few thin slices of onion in between the exceedingly dry pieces of toast. My husband also said his soup was not very tasty just too much coriander which made it very peppry for him to enjoy it.

Visited on our way home from a little family holiday in Ashurst. Lovely atmosphere here. Huge menu. Dog friendly (which was a big plus for us as we had a dog) We had a coeliac with us so great to see a separate menu and lots of options! Lots of space in the cafe too. We only had creams teas and a panini but the other food coming out the kitchen while we were there looked yummy!

I visited this cafe couple of days and had my lunch there, first off all no staff, finally a girl serve me and she was so rude, food was very expensive not for value for money, with burger was no salad and cold fries, burger was so dry even cannot swallow it, my partner had sandwich but salad was not fresh, table were dirty will never come back here again. very bad experience.

Service was lovely to start with. I ordered the 'special ' mushrooms, poached egg and gruyere cheese on leek toast. It arrive, it looked nice but no gruyere cheese (the ingredient that makes it 'special .' I pointed this out to the waitress who kindly said she would fetch some. I did think she would take it with her as maybe it would be grilled slightly after adding it. I waited for a couple of minutes. Once I was almost finished she returned, explaining that they had run out and gone to buy more. Without the chese, the meal is just very expensive mushrooms on toast! We asked for the bill and asked if this would reflected in the price? The waitress hurried off. A different waitress returned and asked us if our meal had been OK, when we started to explain she said very curtly that a drink had been taken off and basically that was it. This situation could have been rectified very easily at many points.

I have reviewed this place several times. Without wishing to get boring all remains really impressive. The variety of scone flavours is wonderful. Personally apple & cinnamon is a huge winner !! Highly recommended.

Great vegan menu. We had 2 breakfasts, one with sausages and one with the corn fritters, which they split between our plates. Very tasty. The chai latte and Earl Grey were good too. Very friendly staff and a tasteful decor and ambience. Highly recommended⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Impromptu family brunch with parents during the week. Plenty of spare tables although we did reserve in advance. Food was hot and a good size plate, staff were attentive and nothing to much bother. This place does get packed during the weekend.

This café is charming and is family owned and run. Solid wooden floors and rustic decor it sits perfectly on the high street of Lyndhurst. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious 😋. There is a good choice of food with both vegan and gluten free options too the meat eaters amongst us. A daily specials board. All days breakfast is available both meat and vegetarian 😁. Beautiful cakes and scones in a wide variety. Cream teas or just a cuppa. All are welcome especially families and including your four legged friends 🐾. Absolutely brilliant. The owners are Mother and Daughter and you could either be served or have your food cooked by these very lovely people. The daughter has spent time creating a vegan clotted cream alternative and it's very nice too. Thank you The GWT see you again soon.

Popped in this lovely cafe for a bite of lunch after a poor experience at the The Forage cafe along the road a few days before. What a difference; friendly helpful staff, good food and nice drinks. We had ciabatta BLT’s and they were great - really good bacon Great surroundings, lots of choices on the menu (full vegan menu), reasonable prices so what’s not to like Recommended

Kudos to the cake maker! New to the area, wanted to try a few coffee shops in the area. Have been to a small range on the high street, this is my favourite! Had a wonderful English breakfast followed by a walk in the Forrest. Returned for a coffee and may have tried a few of the delicious cakes on the display, all freshly made on site I found out! Will be returning to try more soon! Staff were delightful, and the prices were great for the quality! (There Christmas display was also great)

Lovely, friendly, welcoming cafe with fantastic cake! We were meeting up with a friend in Lyndhurst, got there early and were practically dragged into this cafe by the couple who parked next to us in the car park whose friends run it but I'm glad they did. We had decent coffees whilst waiting for our friend and then had a good lunch, although the cod goujons were a little dry. It was a horrible day so we stayed for a good while chatting and then ordered some Kinder Buena cake. It was amazing - huge and very rich. We ended up taking most of our cake home in environmentally-friendly boxes.

Well, our late Breakfast / early Lunch is always a Highlight of our day's workshop photographing Fungi in the New Forest. Two fine cooked breakfasts, a Brie, Cranberry et Al Panini and Dirty Fries were all excellent. Coffee truly to die for - a really first rate Americano with cold milk. Super service and very pleasant surroundings. We will return. Hayling Seagoon

Whenever we are near or passing through Lyndhurst we always try to stop at the Greenwood Tree Cafe. Lovely cafe with great staff and the best selection of cakes. Catering for Dairy-free/Gluten-free/Vegan there is guaranteed to be something for most people's tastes. Also the cafe is dog friendly if that helps anyone.

My daughter and I wanted to visit the Greenwoood Tree Cafe once again so we popped in for a quick bite. As usual the Cafe was very crowded and we had to wait our turn for a table. My daughter ordered Panini and I ordered a Cheese and Tomato Sandwich. The lady taking our order asked if I would prefer brown or white bread and I stated brown would be fine. Our order arrived about 20 minutes later - when I looked at my sandwich I was shocked to see it was not on brown bread but on white and it had been toasted to make it "brown"!!! I ate it and it tasted good.

Friendly and accommodating staff and good quality food. We always stop here on our way to muddiford.

Stopped in over a busy lunchtime for a cuppa and a slice of the most delicious lemon drizzle cake. Service great, staff were all on the ball during the very busy period. Lots of dog owners obviously are welcome here and the staff pay particular attention to the canine guests….. Couldn’t fault the place at all, so would thoroughly recommend…..

After a long walk me my wife and 🐕 Bella enjoyed lunch with plenty of gluten free options and dog friendly, good food we enjoyed it.

My grandfather passed away this morning and used to love his holidays in the new forest. We came to GWT this lunchtime and it was so comforting on a very sad day. Their vegan options are always amazing, but to be able to have a simple meal of vegan sausage roll, chips and beans was comforting in a way I cannot express. The friendly staff and wonderful service made such a difference. Vegans will know how difficult eating out in this part of the country can be.

Loads of vegan options - we had the vegan breakfast, vegan cheese and red onion panini and the vegan pancakes, and they were all amazing! Wanted to try more but couldn’t fit it all in… Highly recommended.

Really pleasant cafe restaurant with excellent gluten free options. The gluten free sandwiches are great and even the vegan "cream" for the cream tea was nice. I wish this was nearer to where I live. Six stars !!!!!!!

Discovered this place quite by accident when exploring Lyndhurst and looking for a late breakfast. Got a friendly welcome from kind and welcoming staff. The pancake dish was absolutely perfect and we have to come back for more!

We staggered in for tea and cake after a long hot walk in the New Forest. The friendly attentive staff member (who we later found out was the lovely joint owner) pointed out the best seat to get the benefit of the air conditioning which was very much appreciated. Quick service, Lovely home made cake selection and friendly efficient staff too. We didn't think the prices were too expensive considering it was Lyndhurst. We paid more in the National Trust tea rooms in Studland last week and they were cardboard beakers of tea!

Had a lovely quiet table tucked away ar the back, great with the wheelchair. Apple cinnamon scone was heavenly. Note to self. Come back k to try all the other flavours!

Do the best vegan (and non vegan) scones in all flavours, traditional or chocolate etc. Nice to have somewhere local that has a great choice of non dairy food as well as just snacks. Great price on cream teas too 😊 family run business too

This is a lovely family run business with really friendly staff. we visited over the bank holiday weekend and was very busy. The food didn't take long to arrive considering this and the lady did pop over and say it wouldn't be too long. She also took the time to have a conversation with us despite being very busy. We returned the following day as we were so pleased with the food and service

Above and beyond my expectations. The food is all superb with good service and a friendly atmosphere. The dirty fries were worth coming back for and everything was of the highest quality.

The food and service is always excellent. I visit the area most years and it is my cafe of choice when in Lyndhurst. We have never been disappointed. My dog has joined us on recent visit and dogs are truly welcomed.

Coffee stop on out coach trip, Dorset apple cake was lovely. Great selection of sweet and savoury scones, didn't look at food menu, sorry.

Amazing allergen safe place to eat for adults and kids! Amazing knowledge, awareness, experience and clear information. Visited today, sort of just stumbled across it and was utterly DELIGHTED to find allergen friendly food! A whole vegan and GF menu, desserts and cakes all clearly marked suitable for a range of different allergies. It was so lovely walking in somewhere and not being restricted to 1 or 2 dishes picked only for minimal mods. They also did not charge any extra for diary alternative milks <3 when I mentioned to the staff about it (I can’t remember if it was the owner or manager) they smiled and said ‘why should people have to pay more because they have allergies?’ Will be back for sure <3

Been here twice now for the all day breakfast. It's sooo good. All tastes high quality and well cooked - especially the bacon. Service both times has been fast and friendly too, and it's very clean inside.

I absolutely love The Greenwood Tree. I've been here multiple times with family, friends and my 3 year old and have experienced great customer service each time. It is so lovely to have vegan and gluten free options alongside meat and veggie - they just cater so well for everyone which is pretty rare. Their vegan clotted cream (flotted cream) is amazing as well! I whole heartedly recommend :)

We ordered two milkshakes one with whipped cream, when the milkshakes arrived I asked for a straw, I was told there are no straws, to which I replied how am I meant to drink a milkshake loaded with whipped cream on the top without a straw, I was handed a plastic spoon. This should have been highlighted when I ordered. The second banana milkshake was more like a banana juice than a milkshake. There was no thickness to it and wasn't even cold. Avoid

We are travellers from Australia and found this gorgeous cosy cafe in the heart of Lyndhurst. We were drawn to the old architecture of the building but once inside you’re spoilt for choice with so many beautiful treats. From carrot cake to gingerbread cookies, dirty chai lattes to spinach, mango and pineapple smoothies. Today they even had a malteser madness milkshake! There is an entire menu for GF customers, vegan customers and everything customers. We tried to vegan scrambled eggs and they were to die for. A great atmosphere all round if you’re looking for an authentic english breakfast. The staff are wonderful and we cannot fault the food. Couldn’t recommend this cafe enough 💚

Really nice cafe, we always go here when we're in Lyndhurst. Service is always friendly and quick. The food has always been good, there's usually a variety of specials, and the burger of the day is always lovely. Also has an excellent range of gluten free options, it's a good choice if you have dietary requirements.

What an amazing find this was in the heart of Lyndhurst. Such lovely staff and we were so impressed with their vegan and vegetarian menus. We went to a pub the night before and they had hardly any menu choices in these categories. The size of the cafe is deceiving from the outside but when you walk in it’s lovely and spacious, high ceilings and lots of table choice. We arrived at 9.15 on a Sunday morning and could tell straight away how popular it was due to how busy it was. This is a must if you are in Lyndhurst, fabulous staff, great menu choices and delicious food. Thank you very much for a lovely start to our day!

We, four adults and four kids, enjoyed breakfasts here. The young man who served us was excellent, noting all the children’s precise choices! Prices were good, though the milkshakes were expensive. We’ll happily return.

Love this place!! Best cappuccino and scones

Friendly staff who were attentive from the moment we walked in. Lots more space than you would think from the outside. Lovely decor and high ceilings. Lots of large tables and seating for big groups/families. Visited for breakfast with a friend. We liked the special separate vegan menu ! I ordered pancakes and they were gorgeous, tasty, thick American style yet light. Coffee was good and would definitely come again. We paid separately which was not an issue (a lot of the time in places you get a shrug from staff as is more effort) but not here :) and I even got a stamp card on the exit to work towards a free drink whilst meeting the owner! What a perfect start to my Sunday. Great place and I left with a smile
