Food is shockingly bad, drinks are insanely overpriced, bar staff are unfriendly, and the ground floor smells strongly of urinal cakes. Obviously just flogging pints to tourists who frequent the spot and not concerned on doing much more.

On the server kept apologizing for being late but she was a fine. It was a nice place to sit and chill after a day of walking up the hill to see the observatory. It's Friday at the end of the trail and a perfect stopping point. The burger was good. Just a nice little respite.

Wow, the food was very terrible! £23 for the roast pork belly and it was awful. Potato’s were soggy, gravy like water, veg tasted bland and pork was a bit grey inside. Crackling was not crackling at all, just soggy and hard to swallow. The Yorkshire pudding was probably best part of the very overpriced meal. You’d expect quality for that! Chicken wings, also bad. We asked for buffalo but bbq arrived then the blue cheese dip was like it was from a kebab shop! Would definitely pop back for a pint but not food! Shame.

Booked here for mothers day, as it is my favourite pub in Greenwich and I had an outstanding experience here for a group of 20 people for my birthday last year. Sadly it was not enjoyable this time, as the waitress was rushing us. She asked if she could bring our mains while our children were still eating their starters, so I said no. Then she asked if we wanted to order dessert, while we were still eating our mains, so I said no. Finally, she put a reserved sign on the table for the next guests, before she'd even given us our bill! She also hovered the whole time, which felt uncomfortable. It was really annoying. We were only at the table for 1 hour and 10 minutes, so it's not like we overstayed our welcome. What a shame. It is still a lovely pub, with lovely food, and usually excellent service. I think this was probably a lack of training or experience.

Not a great place. Very Slow service. The host didn’t put the order correctly into system. Waited long for few starters to arrive. Won’t come back, unfortunately.

Had fish and chips, it was excellent.

Decent selection of food and good sized portions too...shame about the quality of the Guinness but thats another story... the place was empty save for a few tables being occupied. Atmosphere was minimal, it being around 1700hrs, with music was being piped thru speakers though was at a noise level that was acceptable and allowed conversations to be undertaken. Starters was good - soup with eight or nine slices of crutons was delicious and the chicken caesar salad was huge with plenty of chicken - couldn't finish this dish and asked for, and was provided with, a doggy bag. Overall, a good choice but would like to feel the ambiance on a very busy evening and would most definately like to see a better pouring of Guinness starting with a clean glass and a decent head that isn't below the shamrock. No bubbles observed which is a good thing but Guinness deserves to be provided under better conditions expecially at over £7 for a pint.

This place is really a great stop after visiting the Observatory. My phone died, so I wasn’t able to snap any photos, but the service was great and the food was delicious. They even let me charge my phone near one of the registered while we ate. Very hospitable! Moses recommends the Greenwich Tarven especially when your stomach and your phone are empty.

The Sunday roasts are awful. Everything clearly comes straight out of the microwave, and cooked days before. The meat was terrible. Staff although friendly are clueless

I stopped by Greenwich Tavern for a quick drink and was welcomed by two lovely and friendly ladies, had a nice time here, I wish you the best!

We used to frequent this place for standard lunch and Sunday lunch. It was always great but on a visit in December we recieved slow service and the food wasn't up to the quality we're used to. They were clearly too busy to provide the service we've been used to over the years but it looked like they were still accepting walk-ins. A real disappointment. will probably give it another go after the December busy season but wed not go back if we had a similar expereince.

Nice pub and nice food just a bit expensive but what do you expect I guess as right outside one of the entrances to Greenwich Park!

We had a wonderful day in beautiful Greenwich when we came upon an ideal spot for lunch for 5. The atmosphere is delightful and the food was quite good. We had a fish burger, beef burger, chicken burger, falafel platter and a bruschetta plus of course a Guinness. Great stop in a great city.

We hired the King William Room for an event, the space was great and the staff were very friendly. The process for organising the event was straightforward and Ruqiat was lovely to deal with.

Found a black hair in my food. It was inside my burger, my friend then found a small black hair next to her food on her plate hiding behind a condiment. We were told by waiting staff that there was no lady in the kitchen so it couldn’t have happened in there. It could have easily been a man’s hair who wasn’t wearing a hairnet. Made me feel so sick to bite into my burger and find a hair. The waitress allowed us to just pay for one meal, but wasn’t very happy with how the situation was handled and we were made to feel we might be lying. Not very Christmassy - other than that- great cocktails & atmosphere.

Perfect venue for a spot of lunch after Ice skating. I would say booking is essential as was well busy for the whole time we were there. Dogs are welcome. Shame that some of the items from the menu had sold out so early (we booked a table at 2pm) one of the waiters who served us didn't understand English very well, so some of our food/drinks came out wrong but was soon rectified. Would 100% visit again.

Such a pretty pub with a lot of potential, but we had a very mixed experience. Both ordered the Sunday roast. Portion sizes great with lots of veg, but the chicken was dry, potatoes rather flavourless and the gravy like water. On the other hand, my friend’s lamb roast was amazing and she said it was the best roast she’d ever had. Service was slow and the staff seemed incredibly distracted. We had to ask for everything: to place an order, for cutlery, for napkins, for the bill. Still, a 12.5pc service charge was added at the end - “added for parties of 2 or more”. We were also sat in an awkward place that didn’t lend for any atmosphere - sort of sat in a corridor next to the kitchen pickup area and the dog bowls. It was also deafeningly loud. Might be inclined to give it another go on the strength of my friend’s rave reviews of the lamb, but would definitely book, and avoid the chicken.

Amazing food, I highly recommend the lamb roast, but the service is terrible—untrained staff with low energy.

When we asked for the desserts the waiter said the kitchen was closed so I said he should have told us before the kitchen was closing so he said, ok I will ask and then he came back saying we could order. Also he did not allow us to pay different amounts; apparently we could only split the bill or pay by items. Never heard this before in my life! I'm surprised by the number of reviews this restaurant has, I won't be coming back (the food wasn't amazing either).

The first time we had been to the Greenwich Tavern. As it was a family gathering with seven of us we were pleased with the table they gave us, right in the front by the entrance. It was a busy Sunday so lots of people and dogs there, it did get a bit noisy but that was to be expected. Three of us had the Sunday roast which looked very good. We'd like to go again on a week day just for the change of menu and probably not quite so busy.

A pint and a half of Lager with two Calamari starters as a snack came to £34.65 with service. Absolutely ludicrous prices - never again?

We ate on a Saturday evening and it was more like a nursery than a pub. Loads of small children running around screaming. Service poor so asked for service charge yo be removed from bill and was met with attitude. Average expensive food - £60 for fish and chips, sausage and mash and two pints!

Food was excellent, waitress was awful, kept getting orders wrong, took forever to serve. Ordered 2 mocktails and served us cocktails (didn't realise until paying the bill) so meant pregnant lady had drunk an alcoholic cocktail without knowing. Pub refunded the drinks and the lady's food but generally highly disappointed this happened. The food was great but terrible the other things happened.

The waiter didn’t understand the order for real ale and had go to find out what to put on his pad. We ordered the kids meals to come at the same time as a sharing starter and main courses to follow. All meals arrived at the same time. We explained to the waitress that we had asked for the main course to come after our starter so they took them away and left them sitting in plain view at the end of the bar. When they were served to us they were, unsurprisingly, cold. I pointed this out to the supervisor who said she would change them. The beef had been heated on a griddle and it arrived complete with the stripes!That took another 15 minutes to come,by which time the kids were getting a bit fidgety. We were offered a round of drinks which we declined but they didn’t think to take off the round we already had. To rub salt in we had to ask for the service charge to be removed. The food itself was average.

Visited for a Sunday Roast - had the Roast beef which was overcooked (grey), and more akin to a peppered steak at a mixed grill. Adding to that, I had undercooked vegetables (hard and tough) and was offered mint sauce (no horseradish). This wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t cost £24 (!!!) - i’m dumbfounded they believe they can charge this just because it’s the going rate for a sunday roast in London, without an ounce of care going into the food. AVOID!

Booked at table for 4.15pm on a Sunday. Having had only main course, we tried to order dessert at 4.55pm only to be told that the kitchen closed at 5pm so we couldn’t have dessert. The same thing happened to the table next to us. There was no indication of this at the time of booking or at any point when we arrived/during ordering of our main courses.

Staff was friendly, however we had to wait 50 minutes for our food. Food was okay, gravy was only lukewarm. The beef roast wasn’t good as the beef was overcooked and thin, which reminded me of school dinners. The cauliflower cheese was just boiled cauliflower. The pork belly was decent but food was nothing amazing and probably wouldn’t come back.

We didn’t have the best time. We were sat on a table inside but next to the wide open back door so we had to eat with our coats on. Service wasn’t amazing, they didn’t seem to work together at all and when it came time to get our bill we couldn’t get anyone’s attention for about 15 minutes and we were in a rush. I asked for my food to take away and they gave me a bit of tinfoil that I had to manhandle my food into on the table. Veggie wellingtons were underwhelming. Ended up paying £25 each for very below average roasts and terrible service and freezing cold. Felt very unfriendly, the only positive is the location but you can probably get a better experience down the road a bit.

After pre booking and phoning well in advance for dietary tolerance. Non had been pre done or noted onto my request. Was told could have a chicken roast to be part of my wife’s birthday lunch meal. No it wasn’t. The chicken was completely different some tiny bit fried up no potatoes had some silly things and peas. Was embarrassing and terrible. Was still starving hungry. And worse of it was charged a full roast price. Not happy one bit ! Waste of my time and ruined the surprise for her.

Next we started to read out our main orders of the roast dinners we had came here for.. to be told there was no meat roasts left only vegetable wellington :O we were absolutely in shock (especially as the staff were sitting eating roast dinners on their break right in front of us) & didn’t even bother to stay we had our drinks and left. Maten var god, serveringen litt treig. Servitøren ikke så bra energi. Ble plassert ved toalettet hvor døren stod åpen. Toalettet var skittent.

We had Sunday roast. Lamb was flavourful but not fall off the bones tender. Pork roast was very tender and delicious. Beef was overdone and there seems to be just one level of doneness. Ambiance and service were great. Staff is attentive to our needs.

One of my best Sunday roast in my life. I took the chicken option. Next time I go to London, I will be back the the rolled pork. The service was very friendly. They have a nice terrace at the back under the sun. They are family and dog friendly :)

Schönes Pub am Eingang zum Greenwich Park. Hier lässt es sich sehr gut verweilen nach dem Abstieg vom Royal Observatory. Um die Ecke ist auch das Navy Museeum. Der Pub hat eine schöne Innenaustattung und man sitzt hier Prima. Der Service war fix und aufmerksam. Sehr empfehlenswert. Wir hatten nur etwas getrunken.

Nestled near Greenwich Park, this restaurant is a true culinary gem. Their lamb Sunday roast stands out as a truly outstanding dish, paired perfectly with their brewed beers. The delightful ambiance, attentive service, and reasonable prices make it a complete package for a long walk to the Greenwich observatory .

Food and service were great. Food was tasty and we didn’t have to wait very long. We had 4 starters as mains as we couldn’t make up our minds what we wanted. The bao buns were so good as were the other dishes. The kids enjoyed their meals too.

Very convenient location outside the Maritime Museum & also the Royal Observatory just on up the hill. Enjoyed the fish & chips; the fish was a large generous filet. The thick fries weren’t necessarily all that crispy as expected ( not cooked enough?).

Popular and busy pub on the corner of Greenwich park. Hearty portions, great-looking roasts, and friendly service. Also allows dogs which is a bonus!

The food was ok. The service was appalling despite it being quiet. The toilets were dirty with no hand wash or toilet paper.

Highly recommended. We arrived a little late for Sunday lunch, but were seated just fine, even though it was really busy. It was not the table I booked, but I preferred where we went. Covered garden. Food was delicious and super quick. I had veggie Sunday lunch - so yummy and just the right amount. My son had a delicious chicken burger, which came with fries. We were served fresh food v quickly. Piping hot. The bill came quickly. Staff were lovely. All the guests seemed happy, it was packed. The garden is covered, street tables have an awning. Slight niggle, I asked for a pint but got a half. Not sure what I paid. A v small point and it was so busy.

The Greenwich Tavern has become a well appointed bar/restaurant in an excellent location next to the park. We booked for 6 on a Sunday and had a comfortable booth table. It was very busy and our food order was incredibly slow - clearly they had over booked for the number of staff available and we were waiting c45mins for food to arrive. The house manager was very good, took some items off the bill and swiftly got our order to the table. The food was ok, it's expensive given the location but would not rule this venue out again, but service needs to improve. Some real ale on tap would be a good addition.

The mocktails were too sweet! Tasted like pure sugar! We had sweet passion and staycation mocktails.

My wife and I went to Greenwich Tavern recently for Sunday roast. It was an outstanding choice. It is close to multiple museums with great views of park. We sat on inside but with windows open and could look out. There are multiple seating areas including outdoor patio. Sunday roast was outstanding. My wife had caesar salad and it was also very good. Attentive and friendly service. We will be back.

Ate here for lunch on a rainy day. The table ordered the vego burger, fish burger and the chicken with waffles. The vego burger was okay. Good feedback on the fish burger. I ate the chicken with waffles. I found the chicken to be cooked perfectly however none of the elements on the dish seemed to come together. It was just missing something. The service was good and they seemed understaffed but were managing.

Great food, great drinks - 2 part Guinness pour. The main selling point of this venue is the service. Came on a night with Alex & Grace looking after guests and their service was impeccable. Coming from a hospitality background myself I'm incredibly picky. These guys did not fail to deliver at any moment in time, this venue is lucky to have the both of them and its obvious they care a lot about their job and the venue. Huge well done, will be back soon!

Lovely atmosphere, fantastic staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. They do good solid main meals at reasonable prices and also a range of smaller dishes that you can share, also reasonably priced.

It took 45 minutes to get our first round. The waitress took our order, 20 mins later when she was serving the next table she noticed we didn't have our drinks and apologised. Another 20 mins go by and she is serving the table next to us again and notices that we still don't have our drinks. At this point I was ready to go to another pub but the waitress offered us our 2nd round for free as an apology. When we were ready for the 2nd round the waitress was nowhere to be seen and she hadn't informed the bar staff. It was very poor customer service. I would suggest walking into Greenwich to try a different pub, the convenience of this pub being next to the park was not worth it.

I don’t know how took me so long to go here to eat. The menu is great, there are the tradicional pub food, and a whole different dishes. We got the burguer, super juicy. The lamb roast, massive portion, with gravy at the right measure. The meat was beautiful tender. And we got the chicken waffle, as good as you can think. I saw other dishes being delivered and all look very nice made and great presentation. I am sure I will be back to try other things in their menu. Also, they have a small outside garden, the tables in the street, and the indoor area has a very nice atmosphere.

Keeping people waiting at the door when you have so many staff working. Two were standing there together waiting and looking at those who were sitting. Staff did not come over to check if food was okay and if we wanted further drinking as we were eating and run out of drinks, so one of us had to stop get the drinks at the bar

Overpriced for the quality of food. Kids meals at £8.50 were very costly given what they consisted of especially as the chips were covered in salt and there were no veggies with the sausage and mash (& the mash was inedible). It was Father’s Day and sunny so they were busy but still they could’ve done a lot better. Falafel plate for £16 was outrageous. 5 Dry falafel and some salad.

This is a great pub, they always have a table for use with super responsive and friendly staff. We always get the 4 for £34 starters, don't go past the breaded brie with cranberry jam!!

First time in this pub and last. I would like to complain about some of the staff serving behind the bar. First of all they have no idea how to pour a pint of Guinness and secondly when I mentioned about how badly poured the pint was the man told me to “just drink it”, I argued this and then a woman took it, resolves the issue and was rudely asking me if that was better. Finally when I was walking off the man made a sarcastic comment saying “hope your pint is good now!”

We found it spontaneously and it was a gem. The service was nice and the portions were gorgeous.

We were a group of six stopping here for lunch. We found a table large enough in a dark corner, but the dishes we ordered were nicely served and really tasty. In addition to the normal pub meals there were also some interesting plates on the menu and we walked away well satisfied.
