Absolutely outstanding on all fronts! It took me ages to choose from the menu as it all sounded amazing. I finally went for the satay prawns and my husband had prawn and avocado. He then got the signature chicken curry and I had the rump of lamb which was incredible. A firm 10/10 all round, we were really impressed and a really large portion. Service was fast and very friendly. Highly recommend.

Just got back from the Green Man Fish Festival I have been here a couple days f afternoons and evening for a drink which are always reasonably priced After seeing the menu for the fish festival I took the plunge and booked a table adesoite only two of us turning up the food was sublime the ambiance spot on and the staff were absolute professionals Id like to thank all the staff front of house and the champions in the kitchens I didn’t see for an amazing night of great food and lovely service I will be back with a bigger budget and and a bigger belly Wishing you guys every success

Visited for the first time in some while. The food and servcie was excellent.My wife said the lamb melted in her mouth and my Fish and Chips was delicious with a light batter. The starters of Duck pate was very good and accompanied by Artisan Bread. Compared to some other Pub/Restaurants it is a little more expensive but the quality of the food will make a return trip in the near future justified

I have been to this restaurant many times both midweek lunches, Sunday lunch and evening dinners. Once again the meal my friend ordered (chicken Kiev) and mine - the chicken curry (much better than any Indian I have been to) were excellent. Very efficient and friendly staff.

Probably one of the best sunday roasts I have ever eaten. I am based in Cheshire which is surrounded by fantastic pubs and food and i was down visiting my in-laws in Sussex. They booked to take us to the Green Man and I must say the roast that we all had was a step up from the rest. I am also a massive foodie and also takes a lot to impress me. There was 5 of us in our party and both the food and service was fantastic (especially given how busy it was). The suede mash was absolutely beautiful, so much so I even called up the restaurant to try and get the recipe. Cannot wait to come back when I am next visiting.

Very disappointing. My friend & I both chose to have the crab fish cake starter as a main course , so we doubled the portion - 2 fish cakes instead of one. They were basically potato cakes. Neither of us could taste any crab, which wasn’t too much to expect at £24. We also had to ask to move to another table because of the smoke from the wood burner, which the staff were trying to start. The service was indifferent. An apology might not have gone amiss for both of the above but non forthcoming. I should mention I am not in the habit of complaining. I have never written a review before - good or bad - but feel the need to do so on this occasion unfortunately.

We have been enjoying the hospitality of this welcoming restaurant for the past 14 years. We enjoyed a lovely crab cake and plate of smoked salmon followed by curry. My normal go to is the curry and today was no different, despite the launch of a new menu, and they even make it less spicy and dairy free for me. Thanks to Beth and the team for another welcoming child free visit!

Rushed, cold and little atmosphere Fantastic roast beef, cooked to your liking, rare, medium etc However very small portions, maybe 3 slices of beef. Nice veg but again small portions. A spur of the moment decision to go for dinner after quite a few years which proved an excellent idea. There was nothing to fault about our evening. Friendly, well measured service from what seemed like loads of staff that meant prompt attention with no excessive waiting. Plenty of choice on an imaginative menu with what turned out to be very generous portions. Really delicious Thai curry (better than I remembered it) and very good local venison casserole. The only disappointment of the evening was that neither of us could manage a pudding, we were so full. Very good wine list and a few well selected draught beers. What’s not to love?!

We attended the annual Christmas Dinner Dance recently. Food, music and service were excellent as usual. My wife had Covid and the kitchen sent her meal home with me. Even the following day it was excellent.

We had Sunday lunch at the Green Man yesterday and I can honestly say it’s the best roast dinner I’ve had at a pub for many years - in fact I am struggling to think of one as good ever. We were a party of six and three of us had starters. The duck pate was very good - could have done with one more piece of bread as there was a LOT of pate. The avocado starter was tasty but the Tiger Prawns were absolutely divine. A generous plateful cooked to perfection and so tasty. Then there were the roasts - WOW! The three males in our party all went for the Combo with beef and pork and our plates arrived absolutely piled with meat. We all asked for our beef medium rare and I can honestly say it was the tastiest cut of beef I have ever had in a pub Sunday roast. It melted in the mouth and was full of flavour. My wife had a roast halibut dish which she said was amazing. Unfortunately we were so full after two courses we couldn’t face a dessert. All of us said we were going to hole to flop on the sofa for several hours and recover. The place was totally full and I can see why we had to pay a deposit. They could fill a place twice the size easily. For a small pub they had loads of staff who were all very friendly and cheerful and who checked on us constantly without being intrusive. We don’t live locally so it may be our only visit which is a shame as I’d go back there anytime.

As always five of us enjoyed a very good three course dinner at the Green Man. We don't go that often but the food is always amazing, so much to choose from on the menu. Service and staff fantastic.

This is a superb country pub. Meeting up with friends, we were astonished to find this high-end pub restaurant close to us. The atmosphere was intimate enough but still holding a bit of country pub without being ostentatious. The menu was excellent, and the food was fantastic. Rarely do I eat steak better than my own; however, this was outstanding. Congratulations

Not been for a while however our party of 8 people were again delighted with the service and the quality of the food. Between us we had multiple starters, mains and deserts. Everyone spoke highly about their particular dishes. The only slightly negative comment was more of a personal preference for custard with the crumble whereas the only menu option was for cream or ice cream.

Really enjoyed our lunch today as everything we selected to eat was perfect in taste and quality. We met some very nice people in the bar area which enhanced our experience. The only down side was that the overall cost was rather high, especially for things like carves liver @£24 a portion with no additional vegetables. I think we can only use the establishment for special occasions, as £50 a head for a two course meal and a drink is not something pensioners like ourselves can really justify. All good it you can afford it. Will be back however….. when we have saved up!

Am local to the area and hadn't been in for a while. I was meeting a friend and thought it was a good excuse to book in for lunch as I have only ever had dinner here. The service was as usual sublime and the food to die for, I had been waiting for a food excuse to rebook and will be making sure I don't leave it as long again next time. I have also won you another happy customer in my friend who has already told me in no simple terms that he will be back too!

Dropped in for lunch today and decided to go for their renown Green Man Curry, my other half opted for their fish and chips. The curry arrived and looked good, except for one thing. The rice! The Basmati rice was clearly recooked in its moulded for style shape. It was so hard that the centre was a solid ball. Before I go on to the reason for the negative review, I will say that the curry sauce was very enjoyable and the prawns were OK. My first ever review on Trip Advisor is not about the rice but the lack of care from the staff. The waitress asked if everything was OK and normally in a disappointing restaurant we would say yes, even when it wasn't. But today I was so disappointed I told her that the rice was inedible. I even asked her to touch it which she did and her face confirmed my own thoughts. She said she would let the chef know. I thought that we would get some form of apology to ensure we didn't go away with a bad experience. I was mistaken. 5 minutes later they simply presented the bill and asked us to pay it. Not a word about the rice. Some may think this is over reacting but a curry without rice is like Bonnie without Clyde (you get my drift). Thank you for a very memorable experience Green Man, sadly not in the good sense :0( How you treat people matters, not just the food that you serve them.

The service, food & drinks are fabulous, we had pork stroganoff and fish pie. It was one of the best meals we had in a long time. The staff are some of the most friendly and experienced in Sussex. Five star service all around.

A really lovely place with nice friendly staff ! Although it closed at 3:30 on the day we went the lovely lady behind the bar said we were very welcome to sit in the garden until we were ready to leave and offered us get us new drinks to continue to enjoy the sun even though they were then technically closed. We will most definitely be back !
