The Green Man in Maldon

Absolutely delicious food! The Lasagne was the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant and the Eton Mess was 'wow' too! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Calves Liver, cooked to perfection, and finished off with the Creme Brulee. Service was faultless. friendly and efficient, making allowances for the older guests whose deafness made things a challenge! We'd love to return, and may well do so, when meeting up with family again.

We had the best Sunday lunch at The Green Man pub in Little Braxted. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend!

We visited the Green Man for Sunday lunch with friends, this is the first time we have been there since the new management. What a lovely meal, the food was excellent and the service was top notch.

Went with friends from London and were so impressed with the quality and service given ,a truly enjoyable outing. The manageress and staff made us so welcome as we sat at a table in front of a glorious log fire it was with reluctance that we finished and left. Well done an excellent 10 out of 10

5 of us had a simply wonderful lunch in The Green Man yesterday - 16/12/23. Excellent prompt service, really nice local beer, food was amazing, very reasonable price, nice décor and surroundings. All in all a great time for us on a rare family get together.

Absolutely fantastic meal at the Green Man, what a transformation this lovely village pub has undergone in the past year, the new owners have embraced the village and it’s community delivering the food,service and a fully restored interior and garden area, this pub has not delivered this quality of food for many years , and finally we have a chef who knows what he is doing, along with a very good landlady in Alda and her competent staff you couldn’t ask for more. 6 of us had dinner last Friday evening and it was all exceptional, well done and keep up the good work ! I can also highly recommend the roast dinners that we have had on many occasions. Simon & Ruth x

This was our first visit to the Green Man since it’s change of ownership. We had the Sunday roast and we both agreed that it was the best roast we had had for a very long time. Added to this there was a great atmosphere in the restaurant which was full with lots of happy customers and fantastic staff . I am sure that this is the first of many for us

My first time back at this pub under the new management. We had a really good evening and the food was lovely - I had fish and chips. It tasted freshly cooked with a nice crisp batter. I don't usually finish a whole plate of fish and chips but did tonight! It was great to see the pub busy and bustling again! Would love it if you did the fireworks night with the outdoor hog roast again. I used to love that and it was always sold out!

I can't stop writing reviews about this place. It's such a lovely place,and great for family's. The specials board is different, and the main menu is good. I opted for lasagne, one of the best I had out. My husband had grilled octopus with new potatoes, his words absolutely beautiful and nice and tender. Top marks for the chef and the lovely staff. Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Couldn't fault anything. Highly recommend. Fish and chips were perfection, light and crispy batter, succulent cod inside. Very crispy chips with fluffy potato inside. Best we have had! Desserts were good too.

15th September 2023 Three friends & I had a lovely evening last night. The food was very delicious, we had mushroom risotto, pie & vegetables & specials board venison & vegetables, then sticky toffee pudding, trio ice cream & apple crumble/custard. Pudding was so nice nearly forgot a photograph!! The staff were very friendly & helpful. Lovely atmosphere, we went very early evening. It did get a bit noisy, when other people arrived somewhat later, in the room as there are no carpets. 4yrs ago A fabulous evening with ladies from the Witham WI dining club

Real old pub where you can just have a drink or a light or full meal, food excellent top restaurant standard. Staff friendly and helpful. Almost loath to recommend in case it becomes too busy so I can't return!

Had lunch here today, such a lovely place. The food was great. We had Lasagne and The Green Man Burger meals with onion rings, and all the food was amazing. Staff were excellent and friendly. Would highly recommend and will return if in the area again.

Stumbled across this by accident when going cross country to Burnham. What a fabulous little country pub! The food was awesome (we all had roasts) and the staff were great. Look forward to visiting again.

We attended The Green Man the day after my daughters wedding, there were approximately 40ish people and we all had a wonderful time. They went to the trouble of setting up an area at the far end of the garden for us. The food was excellent particularly the homemade pizzas and a big shout out to the staff who were brilliant, so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A first class country pub, would not hesitate in recommending.

The food was very good and plentiful. Well cooked and presented with a good choice. Service was friendly and efficient. Everything seemed fresh and local. An excellent meal out on a sunny Wednesday night. Recommend. Mixed meat starter; seared tuna special; sticky toffee pudding. Coffee was top rate. 3 courses for 2 people with drinks and service around £75.

Superb Sunday lunch enjoyed by 4 adults and 2 children. We had roasts, sea food linguine, Margarita pizzas and a Green Man Burger, all were well cooked, very tasty and plentiful. Managed to make room for chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and vanilla and orange brûlées which ended our meal on a sweet note. Service was very good and waitress serving us was brilliant. Well done the Green Man, we will be back!

We had the Sunday roast lunch and we couldn't fault it. We went there for my Husband's birthday lunch and was not disappointed. Crispy and fluffy roast potatoes, fabulous home cooked yorkshire pudding, excellent cuts of meat cooked to perfection, along with the veg, at extremely reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and welcoming and gave a great service. We only gave a 4 Star rating for the atmosphere as we had a fairly early lunch, so it was a little quiet, but the background music was nice. Give it a try, you definitely won't be disappointed. Its definitely our No.1 place to go for Sunday roast 😊👍.

This is a pub with a new heart and atmosphere and the perfect place for lunch with friends. Good service and great food are now the order of the day. Haddock filet wrapped in prosciutto was my dish of the day! Its a bit off the beaten track, but well worth seeking out. :)

Tried this pub out today as a halfway point on our journey to Southwold. Dog friendly - great for us and our cockerpoo. Food was delicious - we had seafood paella and wild mushroom risotto for our mains. Everything tasted freshly cooked and we sent our compliments to the chef. Good range of choices on the menu and specials. Staff were excellent and very helpful and the service was good. Will hopefully go back again.

Another fantastic meal! Such friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble. GO AND BOOK YOUR TABLE NOW. I can not recommend the green man enough, I don't say this lightly about pub food usually but this is OUTSTANDING. I had one of their specials which was a creamy mackerel pasta which was divine, I hope it comes back. It was something I could eat at every visit. We came for a roast and both chose a mixed roast. One of the big things we loved is we got asked if we like our beef rare in the middle. Usually when pubs ask you this it doesn't really matter because they serve it well done anyway but here at the green man it actually came pink in the middle. It was delicious. My partner is a self proclaimed gravy connoisseur and approved of the gravy! The only slight annoyance was that we were in the bar area, which is still a perfectly nice area to sit in, but we haven't made it into the main dining room yet. I have booked again for our whole family to spend easter sunday there and got relegated into the bar area again. ONE DAY I will make it into the main dining room :D The two girls that served us were absolutely amazing and quick. The only weird thing that my hospitality brain has to mention is the weird bill you get at the end. It is just the slip the waitress writes with your order on it and a manually calculated. I haven't seen those since the late 90s. It's weird and seems like unnecessary work for them these days when POS systems cost nothing. That doesn't take away from the great experience we had though. Please please PLEASE go and eat at the green man.

We had plenty of roast dinners takeaway from here during lockdowns but with the pub having changed owners and undergone a recent refurb we were keen to visit in person. The Sunday roast was delicious and the service excellent and really attentive. Would definitely recommend....

Went for dinner with friends and had a great meal. Service was good and the staff were friendly. The prices were good for the quality of food we had and would happily recommend a visit to anyone. The menu may seem a little restricted to some, but what was on there is worth having. The specials looked great as well. Would advise making sure you get there on time as parking can become a little restricted, especially on the Friday and Saturday night when we have been previously.

Has been the 1st time I've been here since before the refurbishment and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are lovely, friendly, professional and helpful. Fabulous restaurant/pub. The food is excellent. Portion sizes very generous, so if you have a main, you may not have room for a dessert. But equally fabulous !! Friendly staff and lovely relaxing decor. Good to sit on comfy supportive chairs as well. If possible, the addition of a disabled toilet would be a good thing. Thank you for such a lovely meal. We wanted to take my sister out to dinner and chose The Green Man Braxted, since my last visit pre Covid the restaurant has been taken over by new Management, it has been totally and tastefully refurbished, as well as modernised. A good selection of food was available as was the drinks list, when the food was served it was well presented, wholesome and extremely tasty, The young waitress, Maggie was attentive and pleasant and during the evening Alda the owner came and asked if everything was satisfactory. We found the prices a little high but it seems since Covid prices in general have escalated. Would we eat at The Green Man again ? Most definitely and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the restaurant. They deserve to be very successful in their restaurant venture having only opened in November 2022. Mike Pitt

Enjoyed a great meal on opening night 11/11. food was excellent and service great. (Keeley is an excellent host/server - efficient and friendly overseeing all staff and tables but still managing to have a chat with guests). Recently refurbished & under new management i love this place. Great food (Linguine is my favourite along with the roasts), really welcoming with lovely staff & a relaxed atmosphere. We have also had takeaways that tasted as good at home. Highly recommended.
