The Green Man in Huntingdonshire

Went to steak night last night and the food was excellent perfect steak and accompaniments. Wine very good too and service. Definitely recommend a meal here. I have had two meals recently since new management in, both have been excellent. Thank you to the new team at the Green Man. We will be back again very soon.

Great to have new management at the pub who are making this into a much more welcoming place to visit. Had Sunday lunch here last weekend and it was very good. Lots of meat and a good variety of vegetables. Good service and good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Under the new owners the pub has a lovely welcoming feel to it. Staff are very friendly and very helpful. We have eaten at the pub several times now and the food has been excellent. A superb village pub with a wonderful atmosphere.

Since new management have taken over the Green Man it has been a pleasure to visit. We booked for the Valentines meal, which was prepared by guest chefs Stuart Tuck & Daniel Tingey. What a great meal we had. There had obviously been a lot of effort made by staff, not only with the food but the table decorations, music and service. Looking forward to the next event. We would also recommend a visit on a regular evening, food good, pub clean and welcoming, staff attentive and friendly. Adam who runs the bar/restaurant is great. The hard work and effort you have all put in to return the pub to the village is very much appreciated.

Very disappointed with our lunch on Sunday after seeing many good reviews. We were booked for a 1 30 table and it wasn't particularly busy in the restaurant area but they sat us in between two family tables with children, although could have sat us further up the restaurant area where it was couples dining, I do not have a problem with children as have grown up ones! Had to wait a while for our order to be taken (after people who sat down after us) order 2 starters and 2 mains, one starter they said no ciabatta bread available and would have to have toast- no problems with that. Starters eaten OK plates and cutlery cleared, husbands pork arrived - asked for apple sauce but was just told haven't got any, no apologies. My beef turned up had to ask for cutlery and horseradish took an age to turn up and had told my husband to eat his as no point us both having cold meals. His pork was so tuff he couldn't eat it. Mine was OK so shared my meat with him. When our plates were cleared, lots left on one plate, was asked if everything was OK and explained that couldn't eat the pork. Not once did anyone come up whilst we where having our meal to check that all was OK. Never bothered with deserts as had already run out of ice cream. Went to the bar to pay the bill was not asked if everything had been OK even though the waiter chap had been back behind the bar again, ended paying in full for both meals. The young waitress that was on could also do with some customer training.

Lunch today with a family member from London. Wonderful selection on lunch menu. Food was excellent. Service was so friendly and whilst not so busy atmosphere was good and we where able to enjoy quality time. Bonus was I don't have to cook tonight and double bonus was seniors discount today. Highly recommend a visit 👌 👍

They were not serving food at the time but the Green Man had just been taken over by new owners. They are serving food now. Atmosphere was great. Log fire was lit so made it cosy. Staff friendly.

Stopped for lunch today. Refreshingly friendly and pleasant staff, esp the 2 ladies. Welcoming to everyone. Good food and atmosphere.

A bit basic decor-wise but the food was above average.

Not too bad. Food was pretty bland and not very well cooked. I had gammon and chips with peas. The gammon was undercooked (not raw), but with no colour at all, the fat was not crispy or rendered down at all. The chips were over cooked, and the peas looked like they were out of a tin and the egg was hard and over cooked (supposed to be a fried egg). It's a shame that the food let's this lovely local pub down. I know times are hard, but getting gammon and chips right can't be that difficult. On a plus side, the Guiness tasted great.

I would like to give more star very welcoming pub roast dinner was absolutely delicious I would order again when I’m up next very friendly and welcoming the owners are really nice great place10/10 for service.

The food was lovely, but it took a bit longer than expected

This is a very nice little country pub. A few friends and I visited on our motorcycles for a bike meet on Wednesday evening. There where around fifty bikes there altogether. The landlords also put on a special bikers menu. I had a bacon roll. We will hopefully be visiting the green man more regularly. All the people and staff were friendly. And some fantastic bikes to look at.

Came here for bike night yesterday, lovely food and an amazing service. Everyone is so friendly here which you don't usually get with other pub venues. An another thing to point out, is if you're a woman whose on her monthly they have free pads and tampons, in which other chains you would have to buy from the little box. I was honestly amazed.

Had a birthday meal there this evening, food was fantastic and service was brilliant- fully recomend.

New landlords have kept the village pub atmosphere. Good value, tasty drinks.

Fab food usually. We invited family from Rushden and told them how good the coliflower cheese was. The chef informed us after we had ordered that he hadn't any left and the meat was almost gone. If we all ordered the carvery there wouldn't have been enough. The staff and food are amazing with the exception of today's chef who was argumentive and more concerned with vaping and talking to a table of young girls than anything else. I'm mortified at just how rude he was. Real shame as the rest of the staff are outstanding

Disgusting mannered staff. Rude and unprofessional. No manners. Food was cold and not cooked properly would not recommend at all. Poor hygiene and dirty toilets. The smoking area is filthy and riddled with litter xoxo

Ist visit & it was good. Had a meal after scattering ashes of a dear friend.

Always great place for a few beers with your mates. Good is still good, spicy meaty pizza was lovley. Lovley new landlord and landlady to.

First visit since covid. New management . . . Standards have dipped. Scruffy and beer refused to clear. Large geranium troughs now large ashtrays A big disappointment. Never again. and bitter refuses P0clear. Former bedding areas now large ashtrays

I along with my wife and two friends returned to this pub for a meal and drink. I had read the recent trip advisor reviews and was a little apprehensive as to whether the quality of food and service had declined since my last visit. Fortunately my experience was all good. The prawn cocktail starter was generous and our main courses of Chicken and Bacon pasta ,Scampi and chips and Fish and cips were hot and delicious .We all enjoyed the desserts . The menu is not extensive but this is good as the food was freshly cooked The service was very good and apart from the difficulty in paying the bill split three ways by card there were no real issues . The entire meal including drinks amounted to just less than £100.00. FYI there is a largei eer garden which was well used on this warm summer evening.

Went to the first Tuesaday bike night at the Green Man. Had the pizza deal and it was 10/10. Staff could not be more friendly. Have added it to our list of regular rides out. Some really nice winding roads too. What's not to love.

We popped in hear on our way home whilst out for a bike ride. Since the last landlord left The Green Man has gone a down hill, and the owners not the current landlord unfortunately need to spend some money and give it a refurbishment. Replace the threadbare carpet in the lounge bar, paint over the dreary wood panelling in the restaurant just generally tidy the place up. The outside space also needs tidying to make it more appealing an hour with a set of shears would make all the differance. My wife said that in her opinion the ladies toilet were dirty, which bears out the cobwebs hanging down from the beams and ceiling in the restaurant. The munu for us was very boring we settled on the fish and chips which was very good indeed, but no one ever asked us how our meal was or if we needed anything else, having said that the other tabe did. My wife used to go here with a large group of friends 10 to 16 a few times a year, I am afraid she will not be bringing them back. Its a shame we are running short of good pubs in this area.

I was served a cold raw burger twice after sending it back and asking for it well done, in the end I didn't want anything else to eat because my table was all finished eating and I was put off completely, I've never been served a raw burger/steak burger in any restauraunt as theyre always cooked well done and according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), you should cook burgers until steaming hot all the way through, until no pink meat remains and the juices run clear. The waiter was lovely and apologetic but the chef should have come out and apologised. Everyone else's food was okay but it dampened the evening.

We thought we would go to the Green Man for lunch as we hadn't visited since the new owners took it over a few months ago. We walked into the lounge but decided to sit in the bar as there was a small group of older men in the lounge who ignored our greetings of "hello" as we walked in. Apart from this group sipping their drinks and scowling there were two tables occupied in the restaurant, one table was already eating and the other table placed their order as we arrived. We ordered two main courses and waited, and waited...... During our wait, an argument broke out in the bar amongst the men who began shouting at each other. The 2 ladies behind the bar tried to calm things down but it took maybe 10 minutes. After over half hour we asked how long our food would be, we were told there was one more table to be served and ours was next - another 3 or 4 minutes at most. After 5 minutes we decided to leave. The ladies behind the bar were apologetic and the chef's incompetence is clearly beyond their control but we won't be rushing back. I hope the new owners manage to turn things around as it used to be a great pub with a friendly atmosphere.

We had a Sunday roast and it was excellent, service was impeccable beer was great and truly felt like a cosy village pub ... What more would you want on a cold winter Sunday?!

Came in here whilst staying away and working nearby. The food is really delicious pub grub. I had the New Yorker Chicken (aka Hunters Chicken) and if I had room I would have eaten it twice it was that tasty. Very friendly staff too. Will venture back here again next time I'm down this way. Top notch.

We popped out to find somewhere for a pint and a bit of tea after working the Bank Holiday and we were greeted by smiley faces and 4 beers to choose from! Food was fantastic and the service was exceptional!! It was the first time we had been out with our 8 month old son to a pub and the land lord and his staff made us very welcome with him and interacted with him getting lots of smiles. A wonderful proper little gem of a pub which are getting really hard to find. 10/10!!!!

We had no knowledge about the pub and chose it on spec, because of its location. But we would go back like a shot if in the area. I am gluten and dairy free and my wife is dairy free; it did not phase them at all, but they adapted dishes and catered perfectly. The service was friendly and helpful and the food delicious. The prices surprisingly low.

Had always looked at going here for lunch but didn’t get round to it ! But today on a whim phoned and booked an outdoor table. We were shown to an outside table reserved for us by very helpful friendly staff. All Table service so had a beer first. great to see 2 very good local beers on draft ivo brewery which is probably 2 miles away and papworth about the same also goods old ghost ship. Great start, I had a roast beef dinner excellent portion with tender beef. They have a really good vegan/vegetarian menus as well. my wife was well happy with her vegetarian tart with salad and potatoes. We also both had a different Cheesecake each with cream. to finish. Absolutely stuffed and happy will definitely be back soon💯%

Really enjoyed our 1st meal out this year. The pub had 2 local real ales (from Papworth brewery in Earith) as well as Ghost Ship from Adnams. We shared the delicious starter, and without having to ask were given 2 side plates. We also had mains & dessert. Despite the heat, I had jam roly poly served with one of the best pub custard I've ever had. Don't tell them, but the next time I might order custard on the side as sometimes you get extra that way! The beer garden was pleasant with plenty of room. There was also a covered area.

Very welcoming pub. Popped in on a weekday evening 3 adults and a dog. We were served at a table and expressed a desire to sit in the garden. Staff lead the way opening doors and access for us. Restaurant appeared busy for a weekday so can only assume the food is to a good quality. Dog was welcomed with open arms by the staff and other customers. Very nice village pub. Will return to try the food in the future.

My family and I had lunch at the Green Man today. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Social distancing was adhered to. We all enjoyed our food but I would have liked to have seen a vegetarian option on the menu.

You will most likely have to book to get a table but believe me it’s worth it, we. Had the Lamb Roast and the Norfolk Turkey roast and they were fantastic, very big portions of utterly sublime food in a very friendly place with great staff and they are quick and efficient but brilliantly friendly, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and absolutely savoured the food, would highly recommend this place.

Eclectic choice of beers (Papworth's Half Nelson at £3.20) and in good nick. Extensive range of food, nicely balanced Specials selection (1 course £7, two £11, three £15). All cherfully served in a spaciuos dining room and all AOK. Will go again.

If you want to feel like you're having a pint in your mates living room, this is the pub for you. I don't live in the village but I always find myself popping in for the friendly atmosphere. There aren't many pubs like this left. Absolute treasure!

A party of 5 of us attended on Friday night, great welcome and atmosphere, food great...I'm a carnivore but chose a starter and main course from the vegetarian menu for a change and really enjoyed what I had and yes I would go again
