The Green Grocers in Norwich

We had soup of the day with cheese toasties , the soup was reasonable but the cheese toasties were very disappointing. The cafe could do with a good deep clean , under the bench seating the floor is covered with electrical wiring and the cleaners mop has never been anywhere near.

I didn't want to have to leave such a negative review, because in theory I should never want to leave this place. It has amazing local produce, a cafe that (was) brilliant (until they upped the price of the Buddha Bowl by £5!) and plenty of plant-based eats. But the staff here have always been so rude to me. I come here quite often and I am treated like I'm an inconvenience every time. I try to strike up conversation and they blank me. For God’s sake, I'm giving them my money, the least they could do is answer my questions or smile back at me when I say hello. The worst part is, it always seems to be the older folk who (I assume) own the place. I would almost expect this behaviour from the young people, but if anything, they're usually somewhat nicer (especially the man with the American/Canadian accent? He's the only one who's actually friendly!). I would have thought with a shop that's largely about ethics, they would be kinder and warmer people, but I always feel so unwelcome. Trust me, I would not leave a review like this if this treatment was a one-off occasion, but this is every time I go in there. Every time I am made to feel like a complete bother. I'm not sure what's worse; if they treat everyone this poorly or if it's only me. I'm having to assume it's only me, otherwise nobody would go there, which is such a shame. If it wasn't for the fact it was so close to my house, I would take my custom elsewhere, but honestly, every time I go in there I feel more and more resentful giving my money to a business owned by such sour and unkind people. To the staff, if you're reading this, please, please think about your behaviour. You truly make me feel bad about myself sometimes.

Absolutely love this cafe and shop. The outside is a little unassuming but it’s such a lovely unique little place inside! The coffee is very decent, they offer alternative milks (including almond which is becoming harder to find). Brunch here is absolutely delicious, no problems making substitutions or additions to dishes, and all gluten free options are great - the gf bread is at times hard to believe is gluten free! I’ve always checked, and I’m always reassured. I love the smashed avocado, which is plated with a delicious green sauce at the edge and balsamic. I often add an extra poached egg (recommend!). The staff are knowledgable, friendly, and helpful, absolutely top service. Can be a wait for a table, but definitely worth it. Not the fastest at weekends, as they have limited space and in busy hours can take a little time, so don’t head here at peak hours if you’re in a rush. Perfect for a leisurely brunch. During weekdays it’s much quieter and often super fast. Dog friendly outside but not indoors - there is outdoor seating, it can get blustery so bring layers if you’re sitting outside! The shop next door has plenty of refill and no waste options, the fruit here is some of the nicest I’ve had. Always great to pick up a few bits, they stock a good range considering size, including toiletries. It’s worth noting that parking is free for an hour, beyond that it’s paid via an app, and there is ANPR in use here. Also the spaces aren’t particularly big, and on the upper side there is a hill and some hefty bollards, so be warned: if you don’t have reversing cameras or parking bleepers, you’ll have a challenge, plus there is a cafe full of people who will watch you park with a lot interest.

Have taken several members of my family here on different occasions. Food is lovely and so are the staff 😋

Although this place says it’s open until 5pm, they refuse to cook you any food after 3:30… or at least this has been my experience on multiple occasions. I have been turned down numerous times when the business hours state they are open for another 1 and a half hours. The service here tends to be poor, and you have to flag down a waiter if you want your bill, and then wait another 15 mins to be able to pay it. Would not recommend.

Friendly and accommodating place for breakfast. They were great in my painful diet which is keto, and so were very flexible in removing the lovely looking sourdough! The rest of the family really enjoyed their food.

Dropping in here for a coffee or some excellent quality goods always makes my day.

Have the chefs changed? The breakfast was not good quality. Cold toast, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms that felt and tasted microwaved. No seasoning. It was all a little insipid, lacking in care or professional pride. We left food on our plates and were not asked by any staff, why or if there was an issue. £26 for 2 breakfasts and drinks. It needs to be better quality. We used to enjoy eating here but have had 2 very disappointing meals in the past few months. In future we will take our custom elsewhere.

They do lovely vegan breakfast & lunch (I have yet to try their pizzas). I also really enjoyed their wide selection of vegan bakes and the tasty smoothies!

i came here with my friend for coffee (we were too late for food) and it was so lovely! the seating area outside was lovely and sheltered, and the inside was spacious. the connecting shop was absolutely brimming with vegan goodies that you can’t get in supermarkets and i loved it all! it also has a weight & save section which is awesome for those who are reducing waste. overall a lush place and will be coming back to shop soon!🌿

A great little spot for some coffee, working on university projects and buying sustainable goods. We used this little cafe/shop to work on our university sustainability projects where we could set up our laptops in the cafe whilst also looking at some sustainable products for our research. The staff here are really friendly, the coffee is great, the wifi is fast and the shop has some amazing products.

Great spot for breakfast, loads of choice for both veggies and meat eaters, great prices and super fresh produce. The shop attached is a dream too, loads of delicious fresh produce, vegetarian bits and bobs, a bakery and heaps of other stuff.

Quality organic local produce. Quite expensive though. Located on edge of golden triangle where things are higher priced and people have higher earnings.

Really great Pizza! and the nightly deal of £10 for a Pizza and a drink makes it affordable. Only downside is the very limited selection of draft beer.

I have been coming here for years. I'm Vegan and the Vegan options are brilliant. My wife is vegetarian with a gluten allergy and she is always well catered for. We usually have a breakfast and then tea and cake. Their adjoining shop is fantastic, artisan bread, ethical products etc. They primarily cater for the "Norm" so if you want traditional food they do that too. I'm hoping to head back one evening for their pizza evenings.

Best vegan breakfast I've had so far, it's a shame we're an 8 hour drive away. Next time we're in Norwich, we'll be back.

Getting coffee for 2 on valentine's day we went to our favourite local at the green grocer's. It was due to close at 4pm, we got there at 10 minutes to 4, but were rudely battered away because they hypocritical and simply awful customer service. Greengrocers food 4*Service usually alright but just ruined Atmosphere 5*I'll re-review when less irritable.

Strong competition for some of the best pizzas I've ever had in Norwich! Definitely one of the best options for vegan groceries and vegan pizza. Pre-covid their service was brilliant and still is with extra friendly delivery !

La tienda adjunta vende pan maravilloso, un montón de hierbas, especias e ingredientes inusuales, y tiene una buena variedad de artículos de recarga, como frutas secas, avena, nueces, etc.

Llegué a desayunar hoy. Hace bastante tiempo. Personal y servicio muy amables. Tenía un "East Anglia". Creo que se llamaba 10. 95 para un desayuno es bastante caro, especialmente porque las salchichas eran pequeñas! Huevos cocinados perfectamente pan encantador bacon recocido hermoso batido. Es muy peculiar y disfruté, sin embargo, lo que no disfruté fue tirarlo por el cuello, ya que ahora solo se te permite estacionar 1 hora, también es un sistema ANPR. No puedo imaginar cuántas personas suponen que son 2 horas y multado! Visted here for lunch a few times and Ive got to say its my favourite place to eat. Love trying all the meals on the menu and the smoothies and cakes are amazing! Staff are always friendly highly recommended. Don't leave without trying a vegan sasuage roll!!

Went here for lunch with a friend yesterday. It was one of those days that you don't have much time, its cold outside, you are hungry and just want something wholesome and good. Well of course, nobody does bread better than GG ...freshly baked every day. We both had a bowl of really nice soup with bread...I had the potato and rosemary bread which I love and my friends had the seeded bread. I had a gorgeous detox smoothie and my friends had a cappuccino which looked perfect.I only had a very small amount of bread...could have been chunkier and more generous on that portion. It was thinly cut. That is the only slight criticism.

Really enjoyed our food - my son particularly enjoyed the smashed avocado on toast, enquiring about the recipe!

This is my local coffee shop, and I love it. The menu is great and affordable. My kids adore the 60p hot chocolates. Service can be quite slow but if you're not in a rush then this is the perfect place to eat. All the produce is fresh and the atmosphere is great. The staff are lovely too.

Visited The Green Grocers today for a quick coffee and lunch. Lovely cosy and atmosphere and the young lady who served us was pleasant and friendly. There was a good choice of vegan, veggie, gluten free and local produce. We had a couple of sandwiches on potato and rosemary bread which had a very nice if slightly unusual taste, these were decent value for money. We also shared a vegan choclate chip cake which again was a very good size for the money. All in all a very good first experience for us and one we will endeavour to visit again.

Nos encantan las fruterías y visitamos en familia regularmente para la noche de pizza. Las opciones veganas son siempre creativas y hay 3 especiales más menús regulares para elegir. Gran selección de cervezas veganas y refrescos. Visité esta semana y hubo un pequeño problema con su horno de pizza, pero el personal (especialmente Jack) hizo todo lo posible para mantenernos felices sin gemir ni quejarse. El servicio al cliente siempre es excelente, el ambiente agradable y relajado es excelente para nuestro hijo pequeño.

Las pizzas son buenas (aunque no pensamos que fueran tan buenas como antes), pero no disfrutamos de nuestra experiencia nocturna. Son buenos durante el día para la comida del café, pero desafortunadamente no nos impresionaron en la noche y no volveremos a comer pizza por la noche. Todo lo que sirven es pizza, ensaladas y algunos pasteles por la noche, lo cual está bien, pero no está bien cuando no tienen varios artículos. No queda ensalada de zanahoria (eran las 8 de la tarde), son verduleros, seguramente tienen zanahorias sobrantes y el chef podría haber preparado otro lote de ensalada de zanahoria. Lamento decirlo, pero tuve la impresión de que nadie realmente podría ser molestado. Cuando se trataba de postres, apenas quedaba nada. Alrededor de las 9 pm, el personal comenzó a barrer / trapear el piso a nuestro alrededor (mientras todavía estábamos comiendo) y luego apiló las sillas en las mesas circundantes. Toda esta experiencia nos hizo sentir muy desagradables. Estoy seguro de que no fue algo personal, solo estaban "limpiando por la noche". Claramente, nadie ha capacitado al personal sobre los conceptos básicos de las mesas de espera y el servicio al cliente. Visité después de una carrera en el parque el sábado por la mañana. Me sirvieron de inmediato, luego me sentaron y dentro de un tiempo razonable también me sirvieron.Tuve la tostada de aguacate, aunque agregué un huevo extra. Los precios son razonables y me encanta lo que representan la cafetería y la tienda. ¡Vale la pena visitarlo seguro!Me encanta que también esté fuera de la ciudad, agradable estar lejos del ajetreo y el bullicio del centro.

Absolutely love the Green Grocers. The pizza is outstanding and always very reasonably priced (usually between £8-£13). It's a great place for Vegans as there are always numerous options. The Vegan garlic bread is insanely good and absolutely huge. Staff are always friendly and there is a fantastic range of beers and wines. If you're a meat eater you'll get some fantastic food here, and they also have gluten free options. They also rotate local beers, which always go down a treat. We visit around once a month and we always look forward to our visit.

Realmente me encantó la sensación que tienes de este lugar. Tuve un boll de masa de tocino y huevo, agridulce, con salsa Norfolk conservada en color marrón, mi amigo disfrutó de un sándwich de tocino con pan blanco y ambos tuvimos una taza ordenada de capuchino. Una vez terminado, visité su pequeña y encantadora tienda y compré algunos huevos de gallina orgánica de rango libre y 6 huevos de pato.

For the first time in ages as a vegan I have been spoilt for choice!! This menu is amazing for vegans, veggies & meat eaters with so much choice for everyone! My only wish is there was one in Manchester!

The food was just excellent and the staff were brilliant I will be going back it is a great place to go. We just found this place to eat we had come from Kings Lynn to Norwich to participate in a workshop with the Mental Health service as a service user and we had just time to eat. My friend and I both brought a loaf of their lovely Bread.You need to go to The Green Grocers.

As my beloved is doing slimming world and he's vegetarian, I thought this would be the perfect place for a big healthy salad! He said the choices were limited, but decided on the falafel salad without dressing and asked for a boiled egg instead of the hummus they had run out of. He said it was rather tasteless! I ordered the quiche with salad. Quiche was tasty and crustvwas very nice, sadly my salad tasted like it came from a bag without texture or taste. They were quite busy, but service wasn't great, we had to share 1 menu, then ask for cutlery, then again for 2 napkins, as they only brought us 1. I was disappointed as I had heard good things about it, but think I will still shop there, but eat elsewhere!

Community atmosphere, vibrant. Great food either mornings or evenings. My family declared it the best pizza ever.... only weekend evenings, and I’m not s big pizza fan and I enjoyed it. Go and treat yourself if you are in the triangle!

Had heard amazing things from other people so my hopes were high. It is a lovely little place to eat. I've had the falafel wrap and the Norwich breakfast and they were both delicious. 4 stars only because the food can take quite a while, and their stock can get quite low meaning they run out of menu items quite quickly. I would definitely recommend though.

I visited with my adult kids. I’m on a vegan diet and my daughter is gluten free. There were choices for both of us and my son who eats meat. Lovely little cafe and food was good and service was very friendly. Great shop as well with so much organic choices. Would recommend

The Green Grocer cafe made an excellent pitstop for myself, my husband and my 89 year old mother. We needed a place for a quick snack after a long journey on route to a family funeral at Earlham Crematorium. It offered everything we needed. Quick friendly service, fresh tasty food, perfect cappuccino, in trendy surroundings. It was important to find somewhere with wheelchair access plus the toilet was well fitted for disabled or elderly people. Would definitely revisit......

Top quality pizza with an excellent crust. Freshly made on the premises with a wide range of toppings, including vegan options. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good beer. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Nice enough cafe but I didn’t love the coffee (rather bitter, I thought) and it struck me as a little overpriced. But the service was excellent. Also an interesting shop attached.

We love the green grocers and can’t help but visit regularly. The staff and service is second to none and we’ve always had lovely food, the pizzas are delicious! Good coffee, good tea, excellent cake and all very reasonably priced, what more could you want from a cafe!? Plus the fresh bread is divine.

Only found this quaint little cafe because of google. It was late morning and we fancied a breakfast, the green grocers breakfasts are available all day everyday. It’s hidden off the main road, behind the co-op on the earlham road.

My husband and I went here with our toddler having followed on instagram for a while. We didn’t realise it was pizza night and turned up at a time they weren’t actually serving food, as we’d gone there especially we decided to wait the hour and fifteen minutes for pizza night to start. We had a browse round the shop and stocked up on some vegan friendly bits I’ve not seen elsewhere in Norwich. The staff could not have made us more welcome and our waiter James’ service was second to none. The food was a lot bigger than we expected and we ended up ordering too much and taking some home. The vegan pizzas, cheesy vegan garlic bread and vegan brownie were all amazing. Food was really good value for money. Place had a friendly local community vibe without being cliquey. Great experience we will definitely be back wish we’d got round to going sooner!

This shop has some lovely foods and some foods that really are hard to find elsewhere.

A relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and superb sourdough pizzas. Even if you're just passing through Norwich, it's definitely worth a visit, to what seems to be a local favourite.

Been here many times and really liked the laid back atmosphere and the food was good and honest but the past few times I have been there has always been something wrong with the order or food.

Ok its a bit hippy, local, rustic and full of noisy little ones at certain times of the day but its entising with a good following.

Been here several times before and although I had heard that the staff can be rude/superior I had never experienced until today. I won't be returning. Maybe it was my leather jacket or possibly I looked like a carnivore- I don't know but the welcome I had was as though I had trodden dog dirt in on my shoes. I stayed and had a coffee non the less. I did buy some thing from the shop and the young woman at the till was,unlike her colleague, very friendly.

I visited for the first time today with my daughter. She had been recommended by a friend. There is a cafe inside the shop but we only had time to look around the shop. It was great, I am on a vegan diet and there was so much to choose from. I also try to buy organic and I think everything in the shop was organic, wonderful. If you do eat meat or fish there was also something for you. I bought some lovely organic vegan cleaner and moisturizer and some yummy vegan chocolates. Even had organic Easter eggs, fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, fresh bread.

I have been to the Greengrocers lots of times and normally I love it. But two days ago me and my husband went there for lunch and there was mud on my salad. I ate it before I realised it was dirty and found my mouth full of grit. Then I found mud on the leaves that were still on my plate. Normally I wouldn't make a fuss about this sort of thing at all, but I'm pregnant and it can be really dangerous for pregnant women to eat contaminated soil. I've been worrying about it ever since. I don't want anyone else to go through the same thing, so just a warning to steer clear of salad leaves here if you are pregnant, or check very carefully that they've been washed. I mentioned what had happened to the staff while I was there and they were very apologetic, but unfortunately it was a bit late by then! I hope they'll wash all salad thoroughly in future because the consequences can actually be very serious for some people. I'm sorry to leave a negative review as I have never done this before, and usually I really enjoy going to the Greengrocers. But we won't be going back there now.

We popped in for a mid-morning light bite and a hot drink. The bacon and egg ciabatta was lovely, as was the cappuccino. However the pot of ‘tea’ and poached eggs were less than satisfactory. At £1.60 I would expect leaf tea made with boiling water. What I got was a solitary teabag languishing in a pot of hot, but certainly not boiling water. Insipid to the last drop. My poached eggs were watery and lacked flavour. Most disappointing was the standard of service we received. Our waitress did not seem able to raise a smile or a modicum of enthusiasm; it all seemed to be a bit of an effort for her and we felt like we were an inconvenience.

I have been here a number of times for lunch and dinner and have loved it. However, we came for brunch recently, upon the recommendation of others and were rather disappointed. Firstly, there were a couple of things on the breakfast I didn't like, so I asked the waiter if I swapped these two things for one portion of avocado, could this be done as a swap, to which they said yes. However, this appeared on the bill as an extra that I had ordered, despite the conversation. We also asked for tap water, which came in a glass bottle for the two of us. For some reason, we were charged £1.65 for this. We didn't really check the receipt until leaving, as we have been here so many times and were also paying for some things we had bought in the shop itself at the same time. I felt quite disappointed, though, by this visit compared with other occasions. Still great food, but not happy to be charged so much for tap water.

This is the second time we have visited each time for breakfast and being vegan and taking a vegetarian with us (the first time) it was a great place to eat. We visited in December 17 with friends and had breakfast again this time and again this place delivered perfectly. The variety is wide ranging with options for further variety in such things as types of milk and bread that accompany many dishes which is great and perfect for vegans or those with specific dietary requirements. The atmosphere is relaxed and rustic with the hustle and bustle of the shop next door which opens out into the eating area forms a homely feeling and allows for a very welcoming restaurant. The staff are friendly and ready and willing to add or take away any items from orders to make it easy for those with specific dietary requirements. This is a great addition to Norwich and its situation just a few minutes walk from the city centre is perfect for a leisurely day or an early breakfast and newspaper.

The food came quickly was warm and the waitress was very friendly and helpful.

I love meeting people here for breakfast, brunch or whatever. The staff are always friendly, can-do and accommodating. I occasionally ask for variations on the menu and they always help me with a smile. It's great to be able to pick up something organic and a bit special in the shop and I'm always happy with the food and coffee/tea.

I noticed this last night when I was getting a take away with my friend from an Indian and noticed they do breakfast. Was feeling revitalised after my hot curry so decided to pop in here for breakfast. Oh.. the poached eggs and baked mushrooms - divine! Going back at the weekend to sample their scrambled eggs as they looked delicious - in fact wish I had a portion with my poached eggs!

Great staff in a busy restaurant with good vegan and vegetarian options, it is very popular so get there early. Nice selection of home made breads and the mushrooms, tomatoes and poached eggs are to be recommended. Not far from UEA with a small co-op car park.

Stopped in with friends for a Birthday Brunch, good service and a relaxed pace. We weren't hurried to order or leave when we had finished.

I love this place. On my doorstep, super relaxed and perfect to go with my wife for a lazy breakfast. Always busy and the food and coffee are top notch. Also the adjoining shop and bakery has some lovely treats in it!! Amazing. Very lucky to have this nearby.

The best pizza in Norwich, absolutely delicious and the frangipani dessert with ice cream was wonderful! We were absolutely stuffed!

One glance at the menu isn't enough - there is a great range of delicious food on offer. The smoothies are fantastic (as are the pizzas) and the staff are welcoming and helpful. A great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner!We also shop in the adjoining shop regularly which is also excellent.
