We booked the restaurant for the four of us, we had friends up for the weekend. Having eaten in the Green Dragon recently in the garden, albeit only a small lunch, we decided to try this on Saturday evening. We were shown upstairs to our table and we ordered drinks. The Menu is written on a board, and the writing was difficult to both read and therefore difficult to understand. We ordered our food and drinks. Our drinks took 30 minutes to arrive, after chasing. Having ordered, some time later the waitress returned to say the sausages were no longer available! The second choice was made but mistaken by the menu turned out to be a vegetarian dish. Our starters came but once again we had to ask for it, but were very nice, Duck spring rolls. After 1.5 hours our main courses arrived! Two were Tempura chicken, the batter was white, not cooked and slimy underneath. These were not eaten. The pie with mash had semi warm mash and cold vegetables. The vegetarian dish was not touched. We waited for a waitress to appear, I had to go downstairs to find one!Eventually we spoke with the duty Manager. She was both very understanding and apologetic. Apparently we should have been warned about slow service, we were not and no explanation given. We were given a reasonable discount, but we were not there for a discount. We paid and left.

The waiting staff were nice (if a little slow) however it was a nice sunny day so we were happy to wait. What let down the meal was the food. I ordered the burger and it was a dry beef burger on a dry bun accompanied by a dried out salad that I wouldn’t touch. It would not have taken much to add a nice relish, some salad or something to the burger. A dry burger on a bun is kind of unheard of these days… The waiting staff were nice and got some bbq, tomato sauce and Mayo but it wasn’t able to salvage it. If you are just going for drinks it’s a lovely place, I would just give the food a miss.

We have so few places in town to go to and THIS place, The Green Dragon, has history, dating back to 1371, survived the Wymondham fire that destroyed everything else in town, has character, outdoor garden space and right in town. We’ve lived here 2 yrs. now and most of it has been with covid. I understand that the hospitality, restaurant and pubs are having a rough go BUT The Green Dragon has been and still is hit and miss.I stopped in today to see if the owner, Justin, used this time wisely to experiment with recipes, freshen and groom the place, etc. I did not go inside, if you can but got there about 1:00. The entire waitstaff hovers around 20 yrs. with absolutely no clue what “service” means. Yes, they are cute, lovely, handsome, friendly and try; however, they have no clue about service. I’m going to put this on the owner—not the staff. My guess is he’s going for cheap labor. Fine by me BUT TRAIN THEM!They HAVE been indoctrinated to make sure you pay. One young, friendly girl came and seated me and started rambling on about everything but what I wanted. She took my order for wine, disappeared and never came back with the wine! Then, another young man asked me if I’d been helped and I told him I had but had not got my wine. HE got it for me. How long does it take to pour a glass of wine? Maybe this is a bartender problem. The bookkeeping, cashier, etc., has always been convoluted BUT for heavens sake, find a way to make it efficient, expedient and work! It NEVER has.The menu is on a huge bulletin board so wherever you’re sitting you must get up, look at the menu and decide what you want. They use the app, HOPT, which I had not downloaded but have now, so I don’t know how it works.I ordered duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce, £6.50 for 3 and finally got my medium size of Malbec. The check was £11+. There sone nonsense, too, regarding paying for your drinks first and then paying for your food too—separately. Maybe customers are skipping out and not paying. The plate came with lettuce with no dressing. I asked for oil and vinegar and got French which was fine because I don’t enjoy eating lettuce with no dressing. I am not a rabbit. The spring rolls were good and the bottled hoisin sauce was good.It is so sad that The Green Dragon, which is THE MOST historical restaurant/pub in town, is the most disappointing with no consistency, class, ambience, quality, attention to detail or service. So terribly short sighted to not capitalize on its history, location and sheer presence. If there was ever a need for a GM to run a restaurant, it’s at The Green Dragon. Justin is also running the Kings Head in Heathersett. We have not been there yet but I’ll let you know.

I fully understand the need for complying with COVID regulations but the welcome was bordering on rude… it appeared we had crossed some invisible line without being told. The app was very slow to download and service extremely slow…. One and a half hours for the meal to appear. The meal itself was good, duck and chicken excellent. However the Caesar salad was a joke ( was this forgotten and put together at last minute….. only 4 pieces of lettuce, dressing and chicken) . There seemed to be a lack of staff to deal with the numbers. Those there were very busy and polite

Visited for a late lunch with friends, the food was great and the portions where large and the staff where all really lovely and where enjoying being there. Lovely garden with lots of tables and a great atmosphere. It was a combination of table service where we had to pay at the end of each round and also ordering via the app if I had to chose between the two I would have said it would had been better to totally use the app as the poor staff members really struggled with the lack of phone signal in the garden for the card machine. The card machine rarely worked, the app was slow however it did seem the more reliable out of the two.

Had to wait over 45 minutes for starters, then another 20 minutes for main. On the board it stated ham egg and peas. When it came it had salad. Asked about it and was told it had salad with it, I asked women to check and she said it had peas. Argument over the board. Offered peas but by this time I could not be bothered. When we went to pay we paid for someone else meal. Rush to sort this out. Normally would recommend this place but after this experience I rather not go back. Has it changed hands or something. Very poor today.

All staff - really, every one of them - very friendly. We were eating outside of course, under cover, and it rained and it was chilly. The staff's attitude made it warmer. As soon as guests had left, someone turned up with a sponge and bucket, cleaned the entire table, then sprayed the table with disinfectant, wiped it and dried it with blue paper from a big roll. They clearly take their responsibility very seriously. The service was smooth. The food was very tasty. The only minor criticism could be that the beef goulash didn't have a lot of beef in it. It was very nice though. We could not see the Green Dragon's interior but we would go back even if we have to stay outside.

Waitress brought them out but said she had no idea which was which, seemed to find it funny . Then gave my daughter alcoholic gingerbeer instead of non. Had to change so someone could drive, dinners were overpriced and plain with very, ittle choice left at 4.oo. Sent under cooked sausages back and came back micro waved and inedible. Lovely old pub which maybe better when hIndoors and with no app but still needs people who know their drinks and a new Chef.

Visited Tuesday I have been before and had a similar experience but decided to try again unfortunately disappointing! Firstly there was no way near enough staff there were 2 young waiting staff (who were lovely and hardworking) but at least 2 more were needed. Ordered drinks on the app waited 20 minutes even after prompting. The prices are a bit silly as well for basic pub grub! And £8.50 for a pint and a disarrano and coke quite steep too lovely garden. It the food was average at best, poorly staffed, nobody sitting near the heaters despite it being cold! Why!?

Bad service, poor quality food and very slow to take orders, bring drinks, condiments and left waiting for 20 minutes to pay the bill. Nearly two hours for the four of us to have a drink and a main meal, ordered dessert to be told after ten minutes that that particular choice was no longer available, it wasn’t that busy and other customers around us were clearly experiencing the same poor service. We had a similar experience on our last visit and were willing to give it another go but won’t be returning again which is a shame as it’s a lovely building full of character and we’ve had many good celebrations here previously.

Such a beautiful, period pub set in a lovely traditional town. You can dine in or outside in the garden and for chilly October nights a tepe and fire pit are on the way.We 3 had gammon / burger / hunters chicken and really enjoyed our meals, but had to leave a little because the portion sizes were quite generous! No room for desserts!Be aware that food service closes at 8pm as the kitchen staff leave. The Green Dragon does not have a car park and there is limited street parking. We had lunch at the Green Dragon as a family group of 6 and had a lovely time. If I was being picky I'd say that the meal took a while to arrive after we ordered, but I have to be fair and mention that this was not long after businesses had re-opened after the covid-19 lockdown and so there were special measures including social distancing in place, so I don't think it's unreasonable for things to take a bit longer. The food was excellent, very tasty and piping hot. After that, the most important thing is that the staff were all lovely, really helpful and welcoming. A big thank you to all of them, we will definitely be coming again soon!

This pub is absolutely stunning, the effort that has gone into the garden and plants at the front really accentuate the old age and character of this building. We ordered 2 pork and a mini nut roast. We couldn't believe the cut of meat that turned up, absolutely humongous and beautifully tender. TWO yorkshire puds, plenty of roasties and fresh veg. There's a fine country pub called The Green Dragon in Shropshire, just down the road from where we were drinking last Thursday evening and here we were on the Friday afternoon in Wymondham. Norwich 'away day' and looking for a town close to the city, off the A11. We chose well and despite there being many pubs in the centre, we plumped for The Green Dragon and it was the only pub we used throughout our visit. Most tables were in the bar area were taken but we found the snug and made ourselves at home. Really friendly staff, brought our drinks to the table and then the manager came in with the special board from off the wall. We all had different bar meals; Fish Pie, Fish and Chips and a vegetarian chilli - all absolutely delicious. The ale was really good, you fear when you've not heard of anything on the bar but we were offered a taste and they were great pints. Wychwood was the brewer I believe. As it happened when we called again the Wychwood was no longer on but the ale we chose was also excellent.

There is always a lot going on in Wymondham which is nice. We had just got home from a Norwegian cruise and knew there was a Christmas fair at the Abbey, Lemon Days in the town and the Green Dragon, 10th anniversary celebration.

We visited this venue today Sunday 27th October. We ordered our main meal which was efficiently delivered. We asked for 2 extra jugs of gravy eventually after asking again we got 1 extra jug. We ate our meal which I have to say was very very good. After nearly 45 mins of finishing our main we had to find a waitress and ask for someone to take our dessert order. Desserts arrived about 20 mins later. We had a glass of Pepsi delivered to our table which we had not ordered. We asked for our bill and was told that the bill for our table had been paid we told them that we hadn’t paid. Waitress went off to sort it she never came back. Eventually after having to go to the bar and insist on a bill it arrived on checking bill we had been charged for 3 coffees when we had only had 2 and also been charged for the Pepsi that had been brought to table that we hadn’t ordered. We went to bar to sort it out which eventually it was, we were given a £22 discount for 3 couples. This was a very frustrating experience. As we had been told our bill had been paid wish we had just walked out. Cannot recommend the service at this establishment but the meal was very good apart from my custard on my dessert as it was luke warm.

We visited with a group of friends for Sunday lunch, their seemed to be a slight mix up over where we were going to be sat. On booking we had been told we would be seated in the front of the restaurant but instead we were put in a room at the back, we weren't too worried although one of our party who had been before said the front was nicer. Clearly the pub is a very old building with lots of beams and character, however I did feel that overall it was a bit tired and is decoratively in need of a makeover. The toilets also were not great and needed some renovation. The food overall was good, generous portions and welll cooked, we all had the roast, between us beef, lamb and pork, pigs in blankets and two Yorkshire puddings with all the roasts. A few in our group had desserts which were also very nice.

Now I'm not saying this was a flawless experience, and a few touches could have been improved upon, but if you go with the flow and buy into this inn, you'll leave full to the brim and somewhat wobbly on your feet !

Visited after trip advisor recommendations. My party were all underwhelmed with the experience. The service was incredibly slow, a 40 minute wait for food on a week day lunchtime? With no apology. Another table were complaining about the wait and they had arrived after us. My burger was a very sorry affair. A soggy white floury bap with a burger inside. That was literally it. No lettuce, tomato, gherkin, no relish absolutely nothing. It wasn’t even toasted. Extras (cheese, onions, bacon etc) could be bought as add ons but I would expect more of a basic burger for £9.95. It was truly the worst burger bun I have ever been given in a restaurant. The salad was really small and basic with no dressing on offer. Sauces were brought in McDonald’s style small paper pots. Small pottery pots would have been much nicer and more environmentally friendly. The chips were amazing though! Would I return or recommend? No!

3 of us went on Saturday night, it was very busy and there were several large groups 8+ in. We were told there would be a bit of a wait, to be honest, we didn't notice the wait. I've been in places where it's been dead quiet and had to wait longer. so very well done! I had the burger and it was fantastic, I would recommend double stack with cheese and onions. We had 2 starters, 3 mains, 2 large glasses of wine, a pint of Guinness and a lime and soda, for about £65. Harry, our waiter was brilliant, Quick, accurate and very cheerful.

There was no time for food here last year so we booked ahead for Sunday lunch. The beer was excellent, local and well kept and the roast pork was sublime. This is very popular, well established and the history is wonderful. You can feel it in the building, on the walls in the pictures. Do book for food to be sure of a limited space. The garden is beautiful and so "pubby" and allows dogs, good ones of course!

Stumbled across this place mainly because it was the only one we found that still served food after 3. Really glad we found it as the food was fab! We had the fish cakes for starter, you could tell they were home made and they tasted so good followed by good old bangers and mash. Would definitely visit again if we are in the area. Ps they also have a good selection of gins

We were there for the Bank Holiday beer festival and the place was packed with people enjoying the hot weather and great beer out in the garden. The staff were working very hard but were still pleasant and cheerful. The selection of beer and cider was extensive and the event was well organised. The building itself is old and atmospheric and we had a great time.

Staying locally we popped in for something to eat. We were lucky as we went early. There was a function on so tables were limited and the pub is very popular so worth booking a table in advance. This pub has the smallest bar I have seen in a pub but serves good local ale. The food is very good and plentiful and the waitering staff are very pleasent and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and would go again if in the area.

My husband, myself and our 2 dogs got the steam train to Wyndmondham and looked for a pub for lunch, we found The Green Dragon and are so glad we did and can not recommend it highly enough. It opens at 12noon. Its such an unusual pub so much character as really old, lovely immaculate garden seating area where we sat or looked lovely and cosy inside. Menu was fantastic as was the food when it was served, great vegan choices, plus lots of traditional and new style pub food. We wished we lived nearby as would have liked to try other dishes on the menu!! Jason the Landlord came over to chat to us he has done really well and the pub is a credit to him. Also the guy in charge of food came for a chat, its lovely when landlords or chefs take time to chat to customers. We honestly cant praise this pub enough do pay it a visit!!
