The Greedy Cow in Tower Hamlets

Haven't been to the restaurant for a couple of months. What a difference without Pierre who has now left and was the life and soul of this restaurant. On Monday night the back part of the restaurant was full of stacked up chairs and large plastic containers. There were only two tables available for dinner - one of which we had because we booked. The restaurant was a mess. Young girls trying their best but out of their depth . The food was very good but after ordering a second bottle of expensive wine we were told they were closing in 15 minutes (9.30)! Not very clever. We stayed on anyway until we finished the wine. This place needs a manager of the same caliber of Pierre or it will sink which will be a shame. Not happy and i do fear for this place. We did not visit the bathroom but if it is as filthy as they previous reviewer has said, i will not be going back. The restaurant needs to put a reassuring note on its website (which also isn't working at the moment) that the ship is in good, safe and healthy hands.

I visited this restaurant with friends in January and will not be returning back and nor should you. I always judge a restaurant on how clean the toilets are and boy were they filthy! Does anyone clean these. Excrements we’re all over the toilet. I check back later on in the evening and these were still not clean. A well managed restaurant would have these check regularly. As for the out table there were still crumbs on the table and seats from the previous customers. I have a problem with wooden tables they always never feel clean, I watched the staff member half wipe the table whilst the oblivious manager and owner stood around the bar. Young staff were in experienced and didn’t have a clue about the menu. The burgers did not taste like they were made in the restaurant and after asking an inexperienced staff member they said these were bought in. I may as-well of gone to a supermarket to buy my own burger. I can’t stand going to restaurant who buy in their products already made. The fries also are from frozen by the taste of it. As the saying goes pay peanuts for staff and you get…. An out of date burger trend restaurant so many better restaurant in East London who make their own burgers. The best part of the meal was leaving the cold atmosphere restaurant where the owner hawks around the tables. Would I come back…NO! Would I recommend to stay clear - YES! Hopefully this year will clear out the bad restaurants like these. I felt like I was eating in a restaurant which is 10 years out of date.

Not worth the money,We ordered Steak,Burgers,Fries,Onion Rings. The onion rings were a disaster almost 100% pure batter. The waitress never came by after serving the food even though we were the only customers in the Restaurant/Cafe. Why didn’t the waitress check to see everything is ok,We are paying top dollar and expect the service and food to be the same Seriously this a rip off and we eat out regularly as we travel a lot. Sadly we would NOT recommend and will not return. There are many other places to eat that provide far better food at a fraction of the cost . Spend your hard earned money elsewhere or you will regret it

Visited with my Dad and sister for an early evening meal. All three of us loved the welcome and hospitality shown. Thoroughly recommend the halloumi fries starter and we all had excellent mains.

This was my second time at the Greedy Cow, and it did not disappoint! I had a cheese and bacon burger with aioli and my partner had the Jamaican burger - they were delicious! The owner was so attentive and very hands on, he created a very friendly environment. My partner knocked over my cocktail as it was being served, the owner kindly brought us another one and would not let us pay for it. I would highly recommend this place, we will definitely be back!

We met up with our daughter here for lunch as her flat is nearby. Very attentive & friendly service. Great selection of burgers & steaks. We all opted for different varieties of burger & ordered sides to go with them - beware sides are huge portions & you don’t need too many! The onion rings & sweet potato fries were amazing. Burgers were all delicious.

We had an 8pm reservation and arrived a couple of minutes beforehand. Despite being able to find the reservation in the system, there was no table for us until 8.20pm. In the meantime, another party with a later reservation came in and was seated. I appreciate that their party was larger and was therefore given the larger table that became available first, but still think it reflects poorly on the restaurant that they weren’t organised for a booking. The staff were polite and briefly apologetic but didn’t seem too bothered by their error. The food itself was good. We had tempura prawns to start, which came with a delicious dipping sauce. I then had a fillet steak for my main course. I ordered rare but what I received was more akin to medium rare and even medium in parts. Only the very middle was rare. This might be due to the ‘tall’ nature of the cut (see pictures). The medium rare ribeye was good. The sides were huge. We barely finished the truffle chips between us. The mac ‘n’ cheese was OK – I would have preferred it without the crumb topping as in my opinion it has no place in the dish. It was described on the menu as having this though, so I knew what I was getting myself into. The service was mostly good, though there was one member of the wait staff who seemed a bit out of their depth. They were very young and I think perhaps new. Luckily it was very quiet (I think we were the last table seated that evening, so by the time we were onto our mains, the place was dead) so this wasn’t much of a problem. There is just one toilet, an accessible bathroom and baby change combo. I was disappointed to see the emergency pull cord tied up out of reach, rendering the bathroom unsuitable for some disabled customers. The bathroom in general was not overly clean and in need of refurbishment. In my experience, the place is not deserving of the current 4.3 star Google or 4.5 star Trip Advisor ratings, but has potential if management can sort out the issues listed above. I would like to score 3.5 but as this is not possible, I am going to round down on this occasion.

Me and my friend called in before the Abba voyage concert in desperation for something eat after walking for ages and not finding anywhere nice! We ordered the halloumi fries and buttermilk chicken burgers, it was all delicious. When we had finished we went inside to pay and were treated to a complementary shot of espresso martini which was gorgeous! The gentleman who owns the restaurant chatted to us like we were old friends, this half Swedish, half Italian silver fox is the nicest restaurant owner you could wish to meet and if we are ever in the area again we will be sure to call in again!! Incredible food - I’ve been ordering from here for years. The ribs, croquettes and Mac and cheese have always been favourites in this house but today we had the roasts. I’m often disappointed by roasts but this was great, crispy but flavoursome potatoes and parsnips, perfectly done Yorkshire, lovely pork and rich gravy. Oh and enough that I’ve saved half for my lunch tomorrow! Thank you Greedy Cow.

I planned a surprise bday dinner for my wife last minute for 15 of us on the 27th. I spoke to Victor on the phone who took my booking. From that first call up until we left that night he was perfect. Amazing customer service, great dinner and helped me plan everything. Very cosy venue with great food for a great price. I personally recommend this place! Will defo be back!!! Staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is terrific. It's not a massive place, and maybe because of that there's a little more time for staff to engage with customers instead of just taking a food/drink order, or maybe it's just down to the quality of the FoH staff they have. Either way, I really enjoyed my evening here. I made some joe about there being an Espresso Martini cocktail tap (yep - cocktails on tap, people!), and we were immediately brought a couple of samples. It was just like the ones I make at home, so that was the starter sorted! After that, the burgers, fries and mac & cheese came. We definitely over-ordered (one portion of fries would have been enough for two of us - especially with a side of mac), and my walk home was a slow, but happy, roll through the park. The burgers were juicy and so very tasty. The mac wasn't overly/too cheesey (take from that what you will - it depends on who you are as to whether you'd rave about it), which I liked. All in all, I'd recommend this place.

Food is good. Nice burgers. Good service but two times we’ve been there and the manager has been really rude to staff. One time (ages ago) he was telling the young waitress that if anyone sitting outside runs away without paying the bill then she has to pay their bill. This is a bit insulting to customers like me sitting outside but also unfair on the waitress. Is she supposed to chase me down and rugby tackle me? Why should she take the hit? Some of the other customers outside noticed the rude way he was talking to her too. And if he’s like that in front of customers, what’s he like behind closed doors?

Out of a family of 8 one had steak which was delicious but we couldn't all justify the price. It's not gaucho. The coleslaw accompaniment was £3 and came in one of those silver pots that ketchup and mayo comes in, i.e it was tiny. We have been here quite a few times now and the steak is great but I'm not convinced about anything else. It is also overpriced but as I said, good steak. The burgers are a little to be desired. The kangaroo was not anytbing special. So this is why I have given it 3 stars because the price, burgers and sides (particularly the coleslaw which is so small it should be free) let it down but the star of the show is steak.

This is the second time I have had lunch here and the food was as good as I remembered. Love the Wagyu burger, the fries are fresh and crisp each time and the salads are great too! Pierre is really friendly and the service is excellent! Will definitely go back again!

Greedy cow is a hidden gem, good selection on the menu.The restaurant is clean very homely and the service is very good.I ordered the butter chicken burger and chips.The chicken breast served on a brioche bun was succulent moist and mouth watering. The chips were ok if a little on the small side of a portion but I suppose for £8.95 a lunchtime menu you’d be happy.

A burger can be more than just a fast food option. The Greedy Cow has a small but perfectly formed menu that offers other options, but the burgers are worth checking out. The Kangaroo Burger hopped off the menu, and was a great accompaniment to a fine glass of Argentinian Malbec.

Still one of the best burgers in town with a diverse selection. No freak burgers or needless use of Brioche. Just quality meat. The lunch menu is an absolute steal.

Absolutely love it here! The lunchtime deal of a burger, chips and unlimited soft drinks for £7.50 is such good value for the amazing quality of the food. It is so worth it even when paying full price. The staff are so friendly and treat the customers really well and the food comes quickly and tastes so good! By far one of my favourite restaurants in London. Would recommend it to everyone!

Visité la vaca codiciosa hace 3 días porque quería una hamburguesa y vivir cerca. Mi novia y yo hemos vuelto todos los días durante los últimos 3 días seguidos. Estamos enamorados de este restaurante. Las hamburguesas son enormes y absolutamente deliciosas. El servicio también es fenomenal. Te cuidan como si te hubieran conocido desde siempre. Rich y el dueño te harán sentir como en casa. La hamburguesa codiciosa es enorme y deliciosa con un anillo de cebolla gigante. La hamburguesa de pollo con suero de leche era una torre de bondad y la hamburguesa vegetariana no decepcionó, ya que estaba llena de sabores diferentes. Las porciones son realmente grandes ya un precio razonable. No importa cuán ocupado esté a su llegada, lo harán sentarse lo antes posible.

Once in a while I like to come here because there are interesting fancy drinks, good steaks and burgers. However, my last visit unfortunately deviates from the ideal.

Ever since we tried Greedy Cow via Deliveroo a few years ago, we've been huge fans of the place. From the wagyu burger, sweet potato fries, lamb to the salmon, it's all tasty and of good quality. The cocktails and service when in the restaurant are awesome too. We are regulars and highly recommend Greedy Cow.

Posiblemente no sea el mejor lugar para cenar al aire libre pero estaba ocupado por dentro y una agradable velada lo hizo tolerable. La comida, sin embargo, fue excelente y el servicio amable y eficiente. Comí una hamburguesa de Wagyu con batatas fritas y, aunque era cara para una hamburguesa, y no la más grande que he visto, el sabor era increíble. Las batatas fritas fueron algunas de las mejores que he probado en mi vida y ciertamente me llenaron. I confess I popped in here attracted by the idea of having a camel burger. Unfortunately, they were out of camel, which was a bit of a downer - so I had the wagyu burger instead.

first visit proved to be a good choice. friendly efficient staff and nice atmosphere. I ordered the lamb chops with a mushroom salad and onion rings, washed down with a decent lager. next time I will try the wagu burger to see how it compares to my regular at burger and lobster. Spoilt for choice in this neck of the woods but very glad I tried this one!

My first time at The Greedy Cow was a great experience. The staff are very friendly, *Bar staff and *All Chefs inc the *Head Chef. The Food (Prawns were wow) and the cheesecake too! I highly recommend this restaurant/bar especially this summer. Tanya

Popped in here for breakfast on Sunday 23rd June as we were staying nearby. We were impressed with the offerings. We both opted for the "Greedy Cow" breakfast and were not disappointed. Breakfast was very well presented, decent quality meats and the home made baked beans were something else (in a good way)! Well worth the reasonable prices charged -should I happen to be in this part of London again I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

I went there today and I loved it. The staff was great and it was one of the best english breakfasts I've ever had.

Just called in to grab a quick lunch between appointments, and was offered the "spicy tomato pasta" what I got was a bland spaghetti carbonara needing armbands as swimming in oil!

I visited this establishment with friends and family last week on our daytrip to London. Having had a look at their menu online, we were very keen on trying out some special burgers such as the camel and kenguru one. Unfortunately they've ran out of the kenguru meat, but was still lucky enough to try out their unique camel and delicious wagyu burgers. Service was friendly and efficient. Its' positioning is quite attractive as well, being very close to the Mile's End tube station and has a terrace area as well for smokers. All in all, it was a positive experience and we will definitely be back for that kenguru burger!

Burgers were over cooked, staff are more interested in being efficient than providing a good customer experience. Never got offered a dessert menu, starters and burgers came together.

My daughter and two friends were visiting and wanted to try Greedy Cow. It had been a while since I visited and we were not disappointed. Great, friendly service, delicious cocktails and excellent, well-presented food! We all had the wagu burgers and were blown away! We will be back soon!

Lugar relativamente pequeño a unos tres minutos a pie de la estación de metro Mile End. Ambiente agradable y el servicio es atento. El menú es limitado pero difiere con algunas de sus opciones de hamburguesas (Kangaroo, Boar). Tenía la hamburguesa de Wagyu y que era muy bueno. Las batatas fritas son especialmente sabrosas. Buena variedad de cervezas de barril y, en general, una selección de barra muy robusta. El precio era normal y razonable para la comida y la ubicación.

Been there in the week end on Saturday night with a buddy of mine and had a delicious T-bone with generous portions of sides . That was the best T-bone I ever had honesty but what made it briliant was the organization of the team that made sure that all the service was complete and smooth . For that thumbs up to the Italian manager. We will definetly come back in a bigger group

We went there for there offer for the lunch menu and widouth shadow of any dought the food quality was amezing. The steak sandwich was cook to perfection and my medium burguer was incredible. Only 7.50£ each with unlimited soft drinks. Just go it's going to be worth your while.

Pedro welcomed us and Molly was our waitress. The service was second to none, fast and efficient. There is a really good vibe in the restaurant. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time. We all had different meals and we were all very happy with them. The price was very reasonable. Will definitely return.

Fuimos presionados por el tiempo que necesitábamos para ir a un espectáculo, pero el gerente nos aseguró amablemente que tendríamos suficiente tiempo. Las hamburguesas parecían increíbles también (mira el menú para la amplia variedad) así que definitivamente regresaré pronto para probar uno de esos. Gran lugar y uno volveré y recomendando.

I would like to recommend this nice and tasty place. Wide range of steaks and burgers. You will be nice suprized what you can find in the menu.

I visited the restaurant this Friday with my family ,we were greeted very warm and seated quickly.The food was absolutely fabulous! Our waitress Dalia recommended the T-bone steak that was to die for and she was extremely polite and helped us with everything ! It’s wort a visit,we will defined come back !

Went there for a birthday evening with some friends on a Saturday. Food was lovely, no complaints there but felt very rushed, waiting staff kept coming and looking at our plates seeming in a hurry to take them away THEN we were asked to leave our table as we had a two hour slot. We said we were not advised that we had a time limit and were told that was the case when it is busy .... so perhaps make sure you know how long you have before booking. Two hours is not enough for me!

Great place for all kinds of burgers. Camel, Kangaroo i think and reindeer, plus the normal types. Very friendly and helpful staff. My Burger was one of the tastiest i have had. Not too expensive really. 2 minute walk from mile end station.

Been here once before and it was great, staff are very polite and do anything for you. Had the the burger again as I know it's very good and close to to where I was staying, 3o seconds away. I did have a problem but was resolved instantly and reflected in the bill. Definitely be coming back again. Thanks again for great food and beer :)

Popped in for lunch too takeaway. Was seen to almost immediately, great service from a gentlemen whom I believe to be the manager. Ordered Chicken burger, really tasty. Definitely going back!!!

We had booked a table for after work 5 of us. It was empty when we arrived but it was still early evening. The lovely waitress took us to our table and bring over some glasses and a bottle of water. It was a Tuesday so they do a deal of a burger fired and a beer or soft drink for £10. A great deal. The choice of burgers were only from beef, lamb, buttermilk chicken (halal) or a vegetarian burger.

Popped in with some office colleagues late this afternoon having heard so much about the place. Very very impressed with the food, drink and service. None of us indulged in the exotic burgers but those we had - French, Buttermilk Chicken and Greedy burger - were all first class and cooked exactly the way we ordered them. The manager (owner?) walked the floor making sure everyone was happy - and everyone was. The waitress was very professional and polite. There are enough quality brews to keep the beer drinker happy and a savvy wine list. Will most definitely be back. 10/10.

After the amazing fireworks show at Victoria park, me and my friend decide to stop by in this cozy pub. No need to say that the tiny room at tge ground floor and the other one upstairs were full of people. Notwithstanding the crowd, the pub manager showed us the menus and found us a spot next to the bar and later on he has given us all the attentions we could ever imagine. Finally we had our place and in 10 minutes we have our food served in front of us! And what an amazing, tasty, delightful one! Really even onion rings were different from anyother I have ever eaten in my life. Very welcoming staff, attention to any detail, great food,best drinks, what could ever ask for more ?

If you are in East London this place is definitely worth a visit. Great service, buzzy atmosphere, outstanding food. Looking forward to try Thier Steak. Thanks, recommend.

This is a small gourmet burger place just around the corner from Mile End station. I had read positive reviews and wanted to check it out. On arriving we had to wait 2-3 minutes for a table and were given a menu to look though while we waited. They sell a number of different items but their signature dishes are the burgers which come with a selection of meats, including wild boar, kangaroo and (new to me) camel!

My girlfriend and I found this place by chance while walking near Mile End. We entered the place because it looked nice but the burgers we got were just perfect. Possibly the best burger place in London.
