The Great Harry, Woolwich - JD Wetherspoon in Greenwich

Felt for the barstaff, as the pub was packed and they were run off their feet. Still served with good humour and were efficient. Great value, good decor and a short walk from the station. Worth a visit

Placed 2 orders. One of Pigs in Blanket, the other for a hamburger meal.They messed up the pigs in blanket order assuming it was a side serving with the burger. Had to go and correct the order and were eventually served after 45minutes. The burger bun was stale and crumbled into little pieces. The burger itself was substandard.I tried to explain to the waitress that the bun was stale. She kept insisting it's because it was heated...Being from the USA. I have eaten many burgers to notice a stale bun.Not a very good experience overall. Will never go back there again.

Standard Wetherspoon right down to the prices, menu and clientele , who despite some reviews from foreigners are not threatening. The place should not be judged by normal restaurant standards as it’s business model is quite unique.Food and drink are an absolute bargain and generally quite satisfactory without being special.Service reflects the price point but on average is quite efficient particularly as the pub is always busy.In summation the negative reviews reflect over high expectations rather than real shortcomings and it caters for its local market very effectively.

Desde ordenar bebidas y una comida hasta sentarse, es amable decir que toda la experiencia nos dejó con la sensación de que nos habían tratado con desprecio y desdén. Frankie, Dom and Ryan's staff service tonight was phenomenal. Great co-ordination, team work, attentiveness and professionalism, all were brilliant and made customers feel welcomed and important. Good work!!!

We sat and ordered 2 steaks. 1 well done. 1 medium rare. The waiter come with serving the meal. I told him the medium rare is for me the well done for my friend. He answered back he did not know which is which. He dropped the food on the table and left. The. Food was absolutely cold. Pity as the meat was fine.. the chips where incredibly greasy and over cooked,, the vegetables cold ,, I did call the waiter at a point and to make a comment. I did ask him to call for the lady manager to report this problem. The waiter comes back after a while and commented that the manager was not available , too busy.

Fui aquí el domingo pasado para almorzar con un amigo, ambos pedimos hamburguesas, la suya de pollo porque en el menú decía que no había tocino. Entonces comienza comiendo sus papas fritas y aros de cebolla, así que cuando llega a la hamburguesa ya ha comido la mayor parte de la cena. Abre la hamburguesa para encontrar tocino. Mi amigo odia el tocino y no lo comerá. El personal fue muy servicial. El chef salió y se disculpó porque la señora que servía también era maravillosa. No supe su nombre pero llevaba una blusa negra con estrellas. Comida fresca entera sacada. Me dieron un vaso extra grande de vino gratis y a mi amigo otro de los refrescos que estaba bebiendo. Honestamente, no podrían haber hecho más. Así que gracias por ser tan amable con nosotros.

For a 'Spoons, this place is OK. Food is as expected, staff are helpful and attentive for the most part. Its large enough that you can find a decent seat.

This pub had a lot to choose from and good atmosphere. After placing our orders at the bar we sat down and enjoyed drinks and conversation. We were near the door so only problem was smoke blowing in from the smokers outside. The three of us had sandwiches, fish and chips plus soda and beer for under 30.

Nothing much to say about this place other than it is a typical Wetherspoons. You know what you’re getting in terms of product, seating and the type of people that will be in here. Quite impressed by the staff though. It was a large bar with a lot of people to serve but they were all organised and the majority had smiles on their faces and were very friendly. Would recommend - plus the round was £8+ cheaper in total for five drinks than most of the places we went to during the night.

La primera vez que me atendieron fue de una dama fantástica con conocimientos brillantes de Gin y muy buen servicio al cliente. En mi segunda vez en el bar, una señora me gritó al otro lado del bar preguntándome si estaba esperando. Yo respondí que sí. Luego, en lugar de venir hacia mí, me dijo qué puedo hacerte mientras te paro frente a ella hasta. Estaba a unos 6 metros de distancia. En lugar de gritarle a ella, le dije: ¿debo acudir a ti entonces? Lo cual hice. Simplemente siento que su servicio al cliente podría haber sido un poco mejor y me esforcé en acercarme para que yo hiciera mi pedido. Como nunca hay problema con las bebidas.

Has a broad range on the menu. Being a chain has consistent quality in food. Good place to fill the belly at good price, don’t expect frills. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. We normally go for brunch and get a fry up. It’s big portion and well done.

Der Pub liegt im Zentrum von Woolwich. Das Gebäude macht außerlich nicht den besten Eindruck. Von innen ist er aber ordentlich eingerichtet. Den ganzen Tag über ist er gut besucht. Wie für Wetherspoons üblich, gibt es eine gute Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen zu einem guten Preis. Wir hatten Fish & Chips (Freitagsangebot 7,59 inkl. Bier). Die Portion war groß und geschmacklich gut. Der Service ist freundlich und schnell.

The first time I've been swiped for metal by security on entering a pub - and on finding my keys/change had a grope of my pocket to check. I'm sure that this was to make me feel safe - what it did was to tell me that some of my fellow drinkers were the sort of folks that may well want to stab me!

This pub is filled to the rafters with vagrants, drug dealers and criminals. If you take your eyes away from ensuring the safety of your belongings for more than a few seconds, I guarantee someone will approach you, hoping you’ll either buy their dvd, knock-off fags or simply just give them some of your hard earned money for nothing.

He estado en unos pocos Wetherspoons y en general la comida es bastante buena comida de pub, pero la cerveza decepciona. El gran Harry es lo contrario. Es como si tuvieran un proveedor diferente. Amazed by the speed with which the food came up, even though the place was packed. It must be a real money-spinner for Mr Martin. Standard decor, good w.c.s; usual quality and value meals.

Pub tipico, servizio spartano ma porzioni abbondanti ed ottimi prezzi.

The manager of this pub is ok but when he is not about his under managers are terrible. One in particular is rude and a bigot. Abuses authority and thinks they owns the place. Has no respect for local customers and runs a kangaroo court style system to apply authority. Many customers have made complaints but these fall on deaf ears as the customer is not allowed to voice their oplnion. They are looked upon as trouble makers and not given a chance to make any formal complaints. If any one stands up to them they are instantly branded as trouble makers. Also they promote the wetherspoons App but it is used they resent drinking over the order to the table. Bar service is not very effective as they do not observe an orderly system of service. They just serve the next person who stands in front of them. Regardless of any waiting customers. One last thing it's the most expensive wetherspoons in the area. Even Greenwich is cheaper.

The great Harry is fantastic place to visit Has a very good atmosphere of an evening . It welcomes families very friendly staff who are helpful and polite.

Personally the only reason I go in there is the selection of beers, the fact it’s close to where I work and it’s cheap otherwise it’s depressing, dark and as rough as a badgers bum. Too be honest we all plan to be out of there by 7:30/8pm if we go as...well “a cheap Woolwich pub after dark”.

We stayed locally for a few days as we were attending an event at the O2. We came in for lunch every day and found the staff very friendly and the food and service very good. In particular Leah and Billie were great.

It's fine. Standard menu and decor, pretty cheap, food comes quickly and drinks are reasonable. It can get pretty busy and sometimes the sport on the TVs is a bit loud but otherwise it's fine.

La última revisión que hice para este pub era para un desayuno y me dio 5 estrellas. Este era muy pobre. Mi desayuno vegetariano era frío, con dos salchichas crudas y un frío crudo de tomate. Las Judías eran frías. Muy decepcionante.

Frijoles asqueroso y tibia (es un desayuno frito - no quiero bajo granos de azúcar), huevo se rompió el pan y el plato más cruda, así que se largó, salchichas como reemplazo asquerosa como siempre. La última vez que me molestes comiendo allí.

Always drink and eat here if I'm in central Woolwich. It's a Weathersoons Pub. You know what you're getting. Very reasonable priced Beer. Excellent selection of beers good speedy service. Food is good well prepared and traditional Pub fare

dropped by for dinner with a small child in tow. great for family with children, the Great Harry provides children cutlery, children menu and has highchairs for the kids too. Really enjoyed the British Beef & Doom Bar ale pie :)

Went there on a Friday evening after the tall ships event, found the atmosphere off putting there where a couple having an argument at one table loads of baseball cap wearing young men lurking around looking intimidating, feel that the safe environment that weatherspoons normally portrays is a million miles from the new redevelopment of woolwich that is currently unwary,door staff need to change,stayed for one drink and couldn't wait to get out of there,disappointing.

I visited the Great Harry with my mother for lunch, she had ham egg and chips as for myself I was not particularly hungry. So opted for the Tandoori chicken bites. What a complete disappointment they looked appetising but tasted of nothing but chicken, would not recommend this dish however my mother thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

I lunched here between appointments. I'm usually very happy with Wetherspoons but on this occasion I was disappointed. I ordered my usual medium rare rump steak and when it arrived it looked great. However, eating it proved very difficult. At least half of the steak was fat and gristle. But I was pleasantly surprised when the server offered a complimentary desert by way of recompense. Great customer service. The lemon tart was very good but next time I'll order it cold.

Great place to work away on your laptop on a Saturday morning. You get refillable coffee and the staff are nice. Reasonably priced food but it can get very busy over lunch and dinner.

Everything that can be expected from a traditional pub in that area. Staff at the bar are slow to take your order, but food and drink quality is acceptable. Hygiene, including that of the toilets, is good.

I'll start with a negative because ther is only the one - the dining area felt a little cramped. Having said that, it was not cramped enough to spoil our evening.We were greeted by friendly staff who served us in a fast and efficient manner and were very polite at all times.The food was excellent value for money and tasted good too! I have visited other pubs in the chain that did not match the standard set by The Great Harry but am very impressed with this Woolwich venue.

I was sitting with my girlfriend having a lovely glass of wine, and reading WetherspoonNews when I came across a article on the cleanliness of the toilets. I showed this to my girlfriend and she laughed at me and it reminded her of the facilities in The Gate House Greenwich. She made a number Of complaints over several weeks even complained to head office this did not help. However one issue has been fixed a broken toilet seat a few weeks ago but she pointed this out at Easter this year better late than never. Oh it must be said we have no complaints with The Great Harry in Woolwich.

Pretty much what you would expect from a Wetherspoon's pub. Staff friendly and better than some of the other branches. Never had a bad meal here. Not as many Ale drinkers here so not a great selection of Ale's but more Ciders than some of the other Wetherspoons.

the floor was really really bad so bad in fact I got a blotted water and left you had food on the bloody floor, glasses everywhere you turned and the tables were all sticky and wet not what you would expect from any pub.

I chose here on the off chance and I wasn't disappointed. The ambience was lively, friendly staff and very just formative. Will visit there again and recommend without hesitation.

Dirty tables, no breakfast menu's at 930, no cutlery brought out, burnt sausages and burnt bagel with a dried out wedge of lemon. No one checked on us or anything in our area of the pub

The pub is not the standard Spoons but exceeds the chains standards. The staff are all friendly and take a pride the pub and it's customer's.The pub is always clean and a pleasure to visit.

Met up at Greenwich with friends and decided on a whim to take the Thames Clipper to Woolwich. The pub is about 15mins walk from the jetty, up past the now closed Royal Artillery museum, across the busy main road and straight up the hill where you'll see the pub on the corner across from General Gordon square.The place was heaving with revellers but bar service was quick and efficient plus we managed to grab a table and pull up enough chairs for our group. Although busy it didn't actually feel crowded. I've visited numerous "Spoons and this is one of the better - clean, light and airy - maybe due to the large glass windows on two sides.Other than the upmarket and no doubt hugely expensive dockside flats being built, Woolwich is one of the less glamourous areas of London. The Great Harry was rebuilt/refurbished after the 2011 riots - 2012 saw it reopen in time for the London Olympics and it still looks good. An all round positive experience.

Lovely pub with cheap drinks. Only downside is it is mainly older people in there. Do 2 meals for £7.99 with a few choices. That is my favourite thing about here

Woolwich isn't notorious for being beautiful or affluent. The Great Harry is a local pub and has regular attendies. The staff are friendly and the drinks and food are consistent.

Well this a normal wetherspoons pub , very noisy and quite busy . We didn't eat just as well as the queues were long at the tills . It's always best to buy 2 or 3 drinks at a time to save time .it's not the best spoons I've been to , but it's good for the cheaper beer and food .

This is a typical Weatherspoons pub...if you've been to one elsewhere you'll have a fairly good idea what this is like. I come here for the cheap beer (there's a good range of drinks available at really great prices) and the occasional meal. Nothing really stands out as fantastic but everything is more than adequate. You never wait long for food and the bar is always well staffed so you can get your drinks pretty quickly too.

Visited this place on a Friday night. It was not too busy. It was fairly clean. You had the usual Woolwich locals in. When i went up to get my first drink of the night i was waiting for about 5 minutes to get served. Whilst i was waiting people who just came up to the bar got served straight away. Getting served out of turn is never a good start. When i finally got served by a lady member of staff who seemed was part of management as she was wearing different uniform, she looked at me and nodded which i assumed was a sign for me to order in which i did. Although the drinks was up to standard i did not recieve a thank you or a please, not even a smile. Nice way to lead by example. However when i went to get my second drink a gentleman about 6ft 3inch served me. He was very polite and served me quick and in turn. Seemed like a credit to the business. Overall it is your average spoons. Improvement can be happier staff so they can smile more and maybe make some of their clients smile more

People knock weatherspoons , ok some are not too clever. Forget about the cheap drinks. The range of ales and larges are brilliant Had a burrito on Mexican Monday and it was superb really. Great staff , clean toilets all round great little lunch. And don't forget about the price , so all credit to them.

Went for breakfast but decided against it!!A young male staff member constantly stratching his frizzy unkempt hair put me off!! Not happy with doing it the once he constantly did it!! Never did he wash his hands! While serving food!

This place does a lovely fish and chips! Nice and spacious. Served fairly quickly. Couldn't ask for more! Definitely - 5 stars!!!

Honestly for good pub grab you can't beat this! Steak are excellent, fish is great. Burgers are great. Salad is good. Many plates comes with an included drinks. You can eat/ drink well for a £5- or £8/9 for more substantial diners. Avoid the main room where a lot of people drink and eat in the more family friendly back room. You order and pay at the bar. Service is friendly and with no fuss. Great family inexpensive meal out. There are many pretentious places around which don't do food as well.

They keep their beer really well, hence great quality. Also the cheapest beer with great meal deal offers. Fish and chips is excellent with really great offers with drinks on a Friday. The atmosphere not great and the type of people does not help with the drab look, although for a cheap decent meal and drinks for people on a budget it is good.

Very busy pub but not to loud, friendly staff and customers, 5 choices of soup mines was lentil and ham with a warm baguette it was very good.

Nice place to go, spotlessly clean, decent food at a good price, not far from Rail Station/Taxi /Buses/Market, use it a lot.

Great value tasty breakfast and ideal for a leisurely time with a refillable coffee. At 9.00 am it is quiet with lots of space. The traditional cooked breakfast was great, though the toast was barely more than warm bread, so maybe ask for well browned if that is an issue for you. Good and speedy service. There was a good choice of healthy or lighter alternatives, as well as a larger option for the very peckish.

I visit The Great Harry regularly with friends as it is a cheap, chain pub. The food is ok and there is a varied choice of drinks.I am not one to leave a review for a wetherspoons pub but I felt inclined to as there is one staff member called Christina who serves us regularly and deserves some recognition for all her hard work. She is always cheerful, polite and goes the extra mile.

2.50 for a coors so can't moan . Went here after going to pay my respects at the Lee Rigby assassination site (RIP Lee) probably will be back

go here all the time... maybe a bit too noisy sometimes but it is a local... thats not a complaint really and food is wetherspoons standard but bar staff are relatively not good... apart from a select few... and one waitress- middle aged is fantastic... my partner and i love her... if she doesnt get promoted this pub is wasting her time 4.5/5 for general rating... but that woman is super!!!

Good food, lovely atmosphere. But staff are way below par. Staff has No personality and think they doing you a favour when serving you. My 5 year old has more personality and customer service skills than this entire establishment.

a great place for cheap alcoholic beverages and good food, but the customers there do not seem very friendly; do not be surprised to hear or see some form of aggression, I think this is the norm there! other than this, the staff seem pleasant enough, a good place for a few drinks before moving onto somewhere better, nicer with a more friendly crowd.

This is my favourite place for hangout, celebrate any occasion with friends, drinks are quite affordable with good sharing portion. We always enjoyed the busy vibe of this pub

This wetherspoons does the best quality wetherspoons food I've had in any of them. The fish and chips are outright excellent. It's always always crowded though.

Great experience here, fist time in for steak night and some pints with work collegues. the pub is open planned with lots of natural light as there is glass windows all round. food was served quick and warm which is always a bonus, sometimes wetherspoons can be known for cold breakfast but good evening meals. the bottled beer was ok however kroenburg seemed flat, could be a one of but after first visit unsure.

Typical Witherspoon's. The food was tasty and good value. Love the range of real ales & ciders. Staff friendly. The tables were a bit grubby and needed clearing.

It's clean and friendly with amazing service. The manager has really set the standards of service their. Me and my husband were given all meals on time and with great and friendly service. I've been here quite a few times and never had a bad day that has stopped me. Food is as all weatherspoon nice. Would definitely go again.

Busy pub. Tables hard to come by. Food was average and quite bland. Waitress a little clumsy. Don't think I would go in there again.

Rude doormen, confrontational. Would not recommend to friend group to families. Food was late and sub par, wouldn't allow hats to be work inside. (A woman wearing a bowler hat)

Nice meal with a friend of mine,we had chicken wraps and chips,soft drinksall for under 10 pound,service was excellent,even to the iced water and lemonreally nice now its had a make.over,defo go again

The restaurant was very busy but we found a table. We found that we had arrived on steak night. We 3 all had steak and all really enjoyed. The deal with a steak and a drink is great value. I asked if I could have the Strongbow Berry which isn't on the list. The girl taking the order said it was no problem. When we found a more suitable table and I let her know we had moved it was no problem. The food and drink was all very nice and the staff were very helpful. Our only issue was that the food could have been warmer. Overall we would recommend this place to others and will return if in the area again.

My husband grandadddaugher and I called in for breakfast today. The food was excellent, well served and fast. The kitchen is visible and looked spotless. The young man who served me was polite and helpful. I saw another young man dealing with an elderly lady, who was being more than a little picky, he was helpful without being condescending, even when he took her tea to her table for her, when she was still complaining that it was now to strong and hot. They were both a credit to the company.

We're in Woolwich last Monday evening and thought we would try the great Harry for some food pub was fairly busy but found table okay and ordered a couple of drinks while we looked at menu and ordered two steak meals when they came mushrooms and tomatoes were missing queried this with waitress she said that steak no longer came with mushrooms and tomatoes but a small side salad which was brought to the table had this been mentioned at the ordering we would have opted for a different meal the steak was of very poor quality and rather dry in texture all in all an unpleasant experience one good point nice apple crumble

We go here once a month for their breakfast, its just your average weather spoons nothing special. but for £5 breakfast aint to bad, some times a bit luke warm, you can tell they cook in advance and place it under hot lights, depending on time you go depends of freshness of food, sometimes ingredients don't look to good

We came across this on our last night in south London. It was packed with local people but we managed to find it a table for four. Bouncers at the door were friendly enough and the service staff was friendly and the food was very very good. My husband and I ordered fish and chips and it was excellent. Our sons had pasta dishes and they both enjoyed their food. The prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was fun. The weather was absolutely perfect and there was plenty of fresh air coming in through the open side of the pub.

Been hoping pubs around Woolwich and found The great harry in Woolwich. .. You would find wide variety of spirits, wines, beers, etc.. Ordered some starters as snack... Good portions and very good food as per pub standards. Couldn't give 5 stars as the staff are quite rude and not bothered.

Often pop in for a pint and Steak club on a Tuesday. food good for the price but will not set your loins alight.
