Super friendly standard British Indian restaurant. Does what it says on the tin - what i particularly like - is if you ask for something to be cooked in a certain way - or ask for something not on the menu - it's not trouble :) they actually "cook" the dish :)

Friendly staff and good food. The takeaway was ready on time, but they gave us some free extras as the total wait time was above what they aim for. Would visit again

Good service, starters and sides but the curry was not good. Watery and pretty tasteless.

It’s not bad but it’s not great, just very average to be honest. Curry was too watery and the portions size is below average which is made worse by the above average cost.

Food and a staff were great just thought it was a little pricey, especially paying £5 for a pint of coke out of the bottle! That was my only negative! Give it a try!

Been going to bookham tandoori for a thali with my friends for years but I would have to think twice before I would go again! Plates were cold, even though he bought them over with a tea towel, food was Luke warm with a skin on top and the chicken Malaya tasted of metal, the onion bhaji wasn’t crispy it was soggy, very disappointed! Then we asked for the bill and found that it cost £35 instead of the usual £24, obviously everything has gone up but that’s a disgrace, I wouldn’t have minded had the food been up to their usual standards. Such a shame, they certainly won’t be trading for much longer if there’s no improvement!

Booked a delivery this evening. Food excellent and hot, delivery early which was good as I was hungry! Impressive service as usual. I would highly recommend.

I’ve been here a few times now but on the past 2 occasions I feel it has really gone downhill. The vegetable curry was like a watery tasteless soup, that was so hot it seemed like it had been microwaved to death, and the lamb curry was fairly tasteless as well. Very disappointing and expensive. I would suggest that the chef and staff start trying the food that they’re selling to people

Great tasty food as always……but getting to be rather expensive these days. And why do Indian restaurants never give an itemised bill that you can read and understand, you simply never know if you have been correctly charged. Surely there must be trading standard rules about this?

Wow been coming here 20 years. I get there is a cost of living crisis but just ordered a large mint sauce and got charged £5 ridiculous. Wont be returning now shame really

A wide selection of foods accommodating for all. As a vegan there was a lot to choose from, although it must be noted that their naans or onions bajis had egg in them. Their mains were large portioned, however, relatively oily and heavy. The intents of the staff were there, thanking us in each and every action, although at times it came across a little bit plastic or even aggressive and in your face. As far as restaurants at bookham are concerned, this may be one of the best.

Great good, amazing service and top quality food. Highly recommend going to this lovely restaurant in the picturesque high street.

I live locally and have been here before but didn’t have a great experience. Thought I’d try again. Poor food, poor service and really nothing to recommend it but we must have been unlucky as it was really busy.

I walked in and politely asked for a table for 2 then got looked up and down and shrugged at, the manager then demanded we pay first as he thought we were going to run off without paying, the staff are rude and disrespectful and the food is rotten aswell

Birthday evening 🌃 🍴 meal, good service, quite guess only early in the week.

Went on a Friday at 7:30pm having pre booked a table. It took around 30 minutes for them to take our order and then a further hour before we got starters. The main problem I think is that they accept too many takeaway orders and cannot manage which in turn means the people sat down in the restaurant get incredibly slow service. There is a constant stream of people coming in to collect their bags of food. To top off the night we had some random meat in one of our vegetable curries. This has really put us off ever eating here again as we cannot trust this will not happen again. It’s a real shame

First time here and I can't complain. Good choice on the menu and some special offers available during the week. Food was good as was the service. Would definitely go again. Would recommend this restaurant.

From the outside the place doesn't look inviting, but the welcome is excellent. Decor is tired, but clean. Drinks were served quickly with poppadums AND lime pickle! Good shami kebabs. Main course served when we were ready. Excellent lamb jafraizi and chicken korai. The nan was perfect. Friendly and efficient staff. Good night

Excellent service and great food 👌

Do have to say their service was outstanding, unfortunately the food was far from great. Veg curry side was more potato than anything else and very,, very salty. The saag paneer had 4 small lumps of cheese and was really bland. The shashlick was OK but not very flavoursome, the onions could have been trimmed more as felt the outer skin was similar to tiger grass. I will say the rice and garlic naan were really tasty, unfortunately my partners main was also very bland. When ask how our meal was I did mention the above but had no offer of apology and was charged full price. We for one will not go back and would recommend to our friends the same 😢

3 of us turned up at 6.30 sat evening expecting not yet to be very busy and already nearly full. Good sign. Very much enjoyed our meals; all the usual fayre on offer and was all very good quality. The Complimentary glass of House Red was most welcome too! Staff very attentive and the wait for food a very reasonable 20 minutes. Could not eat all we had ordered and they happily put rest in take away containers for us to take home. All in all a very good experience

Had a excellent meal tonight, party of three, we fully enjoyed our starter , main course with side dish, such friendly staff, when we are hungry this place is our second home.

Oh my! This is by far the most incredible curry house I have eaten from in years! Both me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had from here (dhansak and tikka masala)! super fast service as well! On top of this they gave an extremely warm and friendly welcome to my partner who just moved to the area. Truly spectacular!

Really good quality food and lots of choice. The chicken tikka starter is fab. The decor could be updated, but we go for the good value excellent tasting dishes.

Always a wonderful reception and excellent attentive service. The staff are very friendly too. The food is always very very good and of a high standard. It's reasonably priced and a very popular restaurant. It's so good to have this in tjenjeart of Bookham, it's a sure fire way to have a great meal out and if highly recommend a visit.

We visited last Saturday as a family, 2 adults, 1 teen ( 1 other teen didn’t make it). It was just lovely. So so friendly, great atmosphere and really comfortable in every way. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service, and just the overall joy of the place, is a little piece of village heaven in these post-covid times? My son left his mobile behind and a lovely waiter went out of his way to reunite them! Then, this evening, we ordered online take away for a group of sleep over teens- I walked in to collect it and was immediately greeted warmly, asking if my son now had his phone back safely! I was offered a complimentary glass of wine while I waited, only a few minutes, for my order. I chatted with a lady who was also waiting with a glass of vino for her take away. This restaurant feels so welcoming in the community, following the months of the pandemic and I am so grateful for it. Thankyou, all of you, in the Bookham Tandoori, for welcoming us back so really brilliantly!

Having not had Indian for quite some time we were really looking forward to a good meal following the reviews. It was so disappointing to open up our takeaway meals to find our meals absolutely drenched in oil. There was no flavour left due to the amount of oil floating on top and the food itself left us all feeling well ill later in the evening and the next morning. Really unfortunate given that we want to support local - but we won't be getting food here again. It's completely put the whole family off Indian takeaway.

I have used this restaurant on and off as friends rave about this place but I particularly don’t find it great great… I mean toilets needs refurbishing, you will find a list of curries on the menu that tastes and looks same to be honest it’s ok nothing special, i wouldn’t rush back

Been going here for two years, been to many restaurants in the last 50 years and I have to say that the Bookham tandoori is tops, excellent food and all the staff are fantastic, mr John and family will always come to this fabulous place in the years to come .

If you are looking for an authentic Indian experience that your parents likely had (I'm early 30's) then this place is for you. The throwback decor of curry houses of old was superb, the staff were attentive and very welcoming. They also passed my test of off menu ordering (Garlic Keema Nann for the win) Food was damn tasty and in my opinion a little underpriced for the quality. The only downside to the experience was the coffee to round the meal off, it wasn't the best by any means....if it was indeed coffee 🧐 Will be back and bringing friends and family in the not to distant future! Big thanks to the team at the Bookham Tandoori!

First time trying Bookham Tandoori for a change from another local tandoori, food was excellent quality and nice sized portions, order was ready when they said it would be, only a short wait due to covid restrictions to pay, friendly staff and not as expensive as others locally. All in all would highly recommend and will be back again. 👍🏻

Just had my first takeaway from Bookham Tandoori and it was absolutely lovely. Having lived in the area for 20+ years I can’t believe I’ve only just found it. The sheek kebab was very tasty with plenty of fresh salad. My chicken tikka biryani was one of the best I’ve had, and the vegetable curry that accompanied it was full of large chunks of vegetables rather than the “mush” you get elsewhere. I was a bit concerned at how thick the naan was, but the amount of garlic made it easy to swallow. I think I’ve found my new local curry house

So I’ve been promising to do a review because everytime I walk in i remember how amazing this place is. I now live in Weybridge but my mum and dad are still in bookham. For 14 years I have had the BEST curry in the world. We have tried many close to were we live in Weybridge and Esher but it just doesn’t compare. You’ll never get good food like this! Staff are so wonderful and eating in is such a treat. I couldn’t rate it highly enough and so grateful to have it on my doorstep for so many years!!

This is your classic curry house with brilliant food and fantastic attentive service. They are well price and excellent quality. Don’t miss their specials on weekday evenings

I was asked if I knew a really old fashioned curry house. This place did not disappoint! The food was amazing, staff lovely. It’s decor is dated but that’s exactly what we were looking for. Be prepared to spend an evening here as the service is relaxed but it was a great experience. Looking forward to going back soon.

As a local Bookham resident I have seen restaurants and cafes open and shut down over the years, including the main pub changing hands a few times; however Bookham Tandoori has been a long-standing establishment serving great food and offering excellent service from their staff. On many occasions I have phoned them up just before their closing time to order a take away and they have always been so accommodating and helpful. The restaurant is clean, the food is yummy and I hope they will be able to keep going now lockdown is over.

Got a takeaway from here tonight to treat ourselves. Good customer service and very polite and didn’t even have to ask for 15% off, it was automatically given. Portion sizes where good and plenty of chicken in all the curries, and the chicken was so moist it was gorgeous. This was nice for a change as in many curry places I find that there is more sauce than a anything else and meat can be quite dry and tough. Sharing starter as well was enough for 4 people so good value for money. Everything tasted lovely and was piping hot. Only little thing was that the sharing starters were a little cold compared to the rest of the food but still tasted good. And also the peshwari naan did not have much flavour. Other than that I would order again and recommend as well.

I was invited to visit for dinner by the mother of my daughter's classmate. An excellent store in a small rural town, I'm surprised that a store like this still exists. I've never been to India, but the atmosphere of India is well expressed, the staff are Indian, and the service is not exaggerated, but is attentive and comfortable. I also felt that they took pride in their work of serving. The food was also delicious. The naan is also chewy. My favorite, butter chicken, was a bit buttery, but it was delicious. I visited early, but by the time I left, it was full. When paying the bill, I noticed that there was no service charge and was a little impressed, so I decided to leave a tip as well. We also have great value dinners on weekday nights, so we will visit again on weekdays next time! Thank you for the meal.

A great local restaurant in the heart of Bookham village. Visited with my girlfriend and enjoyed the the special meal on a Tuesday. Recommended.

2020 and I thought I’d revisit this restaurant - took my girlfriend to the Tuesday night special - we both loved it. I even popped back for a takeaway a few nights later. And I travelled from GuildfordI had a dhansak and partner a tikka massala - plus all the extras. I’m not local but will always return to support this place. Friendly staff too.

This restaurant is a classic example of a traditional style Indian restaurant,no frills or fuss just a good example tasty food, good value for money. Excellent service and food well presented.

I had a friend staying and we decided to try my local Indian restaurant and I am pleased we did. The reception was warm and attentive and although we hadn’t booked they accommodated us. There was a good selection of dishes and the food was cooked well, full of flavour, and we left absolutely full and happy with our choice.

Myself and my other half always use bookham tandoori for take aways and eating in! Great service when in the restaurant and discounts on certain nights and the take war services is always piping hot and a 15% discount.Best food and service ever! They cater for all needs and fussy people including myself

We were served raw chicken and they still tried to charge us for the full bill, we said we would pay for the drinks but we were not happy to pay for the food. The manager came over and said he would take the one dish off the bill that had the raw chicken, but still wanted us to pay for the rest! They should be temperature probing all of their dishes, it’s just not acceptable it could make someone seriously ill. We ended up paying for drinks and popadoms but it took an unexpected amount of back and forth.

Overrated and expensive - resting on its laurels - not the only food place in Bookham, so needs to up it's game

I didn't go here I went to the charity shop. I'll give that 6 out of 10 Very unusual clothes here if a trifle on the rear side, but lots of designer lines
