The Gravy Boat in Arun

Turned up without a booking but a table was found for us. A friendly and popular place. Efficient staff and great food. Child’s portion of fish and chips was huge, and the baked Camembert was delicious

We used to be regulars to The Gravy Boat but a bad visit a few months ago put us off. We decided to give it another chance as the Valentine’s menu looked good that was a mistake! When we arrived at 7.30pm it was busy as expected we were seated and it took over 15 minutes for them to take our drink order and another 15-20 minutes for drinks to arrive. We were then told that several items on the valentines menu were already sold out which considering we booked for 7.30 and they are offering this menu from 14th feb through to 18th seemed odd and was annoying to say the least. My partner reluctantly ordered the carvery despite looking forward to a Venison Steak all day! Starter was good but then came a very long wait for our main. Luckily we ordered 2 drinks each to start with as we would have struggled to order another. My main was ok I had the fettuccine but the carvery was Luke warm and very salty and NO Yorkshires…you guessed it they had run out!! The restaurant was freezing cold which didn’t make for a pleasant atmosphere and waitresses were literally running about not relaxing or enjoyable at all. We won’t be going back! Such a shame as used to be great!

Had a lovely Sunday roast dinner. Very generous portions, lovely staff who take pride in the business. No queuing for food, your table gets called when your turn. Very clean. Excellent food and drinks!! The staff are very friendly and the restaurant has a very nice ambiance to it. My mum and I had the lasagne which was served with chips and salad and my Grandma had the Prawn risotto and said it was the best she ever had. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. The cocktails are made very well too! 😋

It was the first visit to The Gravy Boat whilst my wife and I were visiting Littlehampton. The very warm welcome we received while entering the premises,set the precedent for the whole dining experience, which was superb! Thoroughly recommend this restaurant, for those who appreciate good service, delicious, well priced food,and a cosy ambience 👌

This was our first visit and we will most definitely be back again.We received a lovely welcome on our arrival we were five adults and one child.We all had the roast which was all excellent the meat was all well cooked and not dry the turkey was tasty and the lamb was to and not fatty.A wonderful choice of vegetables and potatoes.carved well and a very generous portion of vegetables.The staff serving the carvery we’re all friendly and helpful.I had a lovely gin and tonic.We enjoyed our lunch so much ,the only one to have a pudding was my granddaughter who have ice-cream.

Visited here for lunch as seen the good reviews, but was very disappointed! The carvery was rubbish over cooked meat, there was thick layer of gunk over the gravy and mustard were clearly had sat there for a while. At £16.50pp there are much better places to visit. Would not visit again. Staff very pleasant though.

A lovely dining experience for my Mum and I on Christmas Day. The food was delicious. The staff where really well organised, ensuring no-one was kept waiting for food. They where extremely busy but you wouldn't know it because they where cheerful, polite and happy. Many Thanks.

A great last minute find. We found this restaurant after looking on Tripadvisor, needed somewhere for a quick dinner for myself, husband and 8 year old daughter. Perfect for our needs, wide variety of food, great kids menu. We were the only table upstairs, but staff were attentive and gave great service. Highly recommend.

Visited this restaurant last night with a friend. Haven’t been here for over a year and have to say it was a great as it always was and possibly even better.My friend and I shared the Camembert and bread board starters which were lovely and plentiful. I had the chicken supreme and my friend had the lamb rump. Both were cooked and served perfectly. In fact I would go as far as to say it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten and I dine out a lot. For dessert we had the bread and butter pudding and profiteroles. Both equally fabulous. The service was exceptional with both waitresses being friendly and informative. Can’t wait to return

Found this little restaurant, what a fabulous meal, had the carvery, all hot, plentiful, creamed leeks, red cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, roast potatoes , Yorkshire pudding Wow was superb

2nd wedding anniversary, came to our home from home of course. Having moved house, its a little difficult to come down as much, however the food, ambiance and staff remain top tier A shake up of the menu allowed us to try some different things, all of which were spectacular. Trio of cheese and trio of battered fish to start was delicious and plentiful. All staff as always were friendly and welcoming. The staff treat you like guests and friends what more could you want. Mains we e both had the lamb rump, cooked to our liking and absolutely delicious! The restaurant did have trouble from some local youths but dealt with it with grace and manners. I was ready to intervene but the whole restaurant handled it with decorum and good taste. Not restaurant fault at all. They really look after their clientele. Sticky toffee pudding to end, absolutely divine. Really good to be back here and see friendly faces of staff old and new. Staff are friendly and attentive, accommodating and gracious. Can never say a bad word about this place. Beautiful beautiful beautiful

We were out for the day popped in for some mussels. Delicious plump mussels with a lovely creamy sauce . Served with fries or crusty bread. Friendly efficient staff.

Oh Dear. If it ain’t broke don’t try and fix it. Why dumb down the menu. Why remove dishes that were obviously popular I get hospitality is hard currently but now I will think about returning. Dishes I’ve enjoyed before now not available and the dish I had prawns Pil Pil was like a starter

Booked last minute for a family of 5 & staff were fantastic, found room for us downstairs as one of us had a mobility issue. The food was well cooked, tasty & plentiful. 2 had carvery & said it was the best ever. The mixed sea food linguine was delicious as was the fish/chips & Spaghetti Bolognaise. We will definitely be back.........soon!

Normally fabulous, gorgeous tasty food. Tonight’s takeaway was so disappointing. Dry , tasteless and so bad it went straight in the bin.

Due to Covid19 and the unfortunate restrictions to the hospitality industry, we are trying hard to spend our money with local businesses in any way possible.So we were pleased to see that the Gravy Boat are doing home deliveries. We ordered a takeaway online. Ordering was simple and delivery was on time.We ordered 2 carveries, a beef and a leek tart.When it arrived, we opened the packages and in all honesty we were initially a bit disappointed as the presentation wasn't great.HOWEVER, we were wrong to judge too soon. Once on the plate it was a substantial and very pleasant dinner. Everything was well cooked, hot and very tasty.The only negative was that the roast potatoes were a bit disappointing. They were cooked through but I think transport in a delivery container made them a bit soggy.All in all it was a really tasty treat and we'll order again in the near future.Thanks Gravy Boat Team!

Carvery roast had hard potatoes and dried up meat ..Customer service non existent did not even reply to my email about the food.I do not understand if they are as good as the reviews seem to indicate why do they ignore a complaint that is so easy to put right.

Nice little restaurant. Food was really tasty. Welcomed our family. Only regret was not going for the carvery as it looked absolutely delicious.

Plenty to choose from...and so something for everyone. The menu is very extensive but boils down to your simple family pleasing staples of pasta and burgers etc. Everything we had was tasty and the wait staff were attentive.

Tasteless liver and bacon, sickly and oily carbonara with very salty, fatty bacon, dry monkfish with undercooked veg; waitress offhand and still charged for pasta dish not eaten. Lovely soup with nice rustic bread, and very well cooked and tasty calamari starters, reasonably priced wine. An expensive but disappointing birthday meal. Sadly would not return.

I went there with high expectations and left a bit disappointed, had the muscles and it was a bit salty for my taste. As i main I had the trio of fish and it was pretty pathetic for me, blunt, not a lot of taste, dont order it you will not like it I am sure . The service was good and the food was a let down .
