What a superb meal we had this lunchtime ,we took the 3 courses and what a treat the flavours the textures and the presentation on the plate were divine. You have to book a couple of weeks ahead to get a table . This is a hidden gem sitting out in the countryside just half a mile from the town ,Friendly and helpful staff and a well run kitchen with just the right amount of time between courses We will be back soon !

Its TA rating enticed us to have dinner here. It's an attractive location in the hills looking down over St Andrews. We had a very warm welcome and were shown to our table in the pleasant dining room. Unfortunately, as it was a busy evening with two large groups located at tables at the window, we had only limited views down the hillside. However, we did have probably the best meal of our stay in St Andrews. Although it has only a limited table d'hote menu there was much to appeal to us, not counting the interesting bread to nibble and the amuse bouche before the courses. We both had the smoked salmon with interesting accompaniments. Before the main course we had another intermediate chef's course - a perfect palate cleanser. For our mains we had the sea bream and one of the lamb. Both were excellent. We were enticed by the dessert menu, ordering one chocolate dessert and one parfait - again both excellent. We were even served lovely petit fours despite not ordering coffee - always a nice 'goodnight & thankyou' gesture.

17/06/2018: This is a special place. Its a family business. A small restaurant within the hotel, You may have to walk down to it.No frills but amazing food served with creativity and zest with great wines to match. The seafood hamper for starters was a delight of elegance and innovation. Go once and you will yearn to return.
03/05/2018: I was taken here for lunch recently as a birthday treat. We were met off our train (by prior arrangement) and driven the mile or so to the hotel (this would be a godsend if it was raining). The restaurant specialises in fish and seafood, and has a very good menu with a nice choice of dishes. Everything we chose was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, and I was assured that the bill represented very good value for money. Definitely worth a visit.
