Sunday lunch lovely food, polite, kind, helpful staff

Our first time at the Goytre arms today and I don’t think it’ll be our last. We called in for Sunday lunch at very short notice and they fitted us in with no fuss even though it was pretty full. The lunch itself was excellent, plenty of it and beautifully cooked ( and possibly the best roasted potatoes I’ve ever had ). Also I must add how welcoming and attentive the staff were, they made for a very pleasant experience.

No fresh milk for tea and no peppercorn sauce . Bill was literally dumped on table no finesse or customer service . Awful , everything seemed too much trouble or felt like they wanted us to leave. Absolutely no atmosphere . No valentine charm or little extras. Extremely 😞☹️ disappointing feeling extremely let down.won't be visiting again or recommending.Awful evening apart from the company I was with. . No customer service or politeness from owners . No apology at not having food items or fresh milk for tea or coffee. Shameful

Food was lush, the mushrooms in garlic sauce was amazing, lovely atmosphere and good service. Will definitely visit again.

First class food and it was so nice to go somewhere and receive first class service. The staff was very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. It's very hard to find a place like this these days. I will definitely return.

Got in at short notice for a Sunday dinner, and was very happy with it. You have to try the extra red cabbage, best I've ever had.

Carvery for 16 and it was really nice. The three course for £17 was great value as food was top notch. Being critical the crumble for my desert could have had more ice cream but I'm sure if I'd have asked they would have obliged as service was brilliant too. Would highly recommend

We visited the goytre arms for Sunday lunch with family. We were greeted by a man and an older blonde woman behind the bar that seemed to be rushing us to order our food, my daughter heard the blonde woman behind the bar asking”well are they going to order there drinks anytime soon” as we sat down at our table the man came over 2/3 times in a space of 5 minutes to ask if we were ready to order, but as it was a Sunday ( a chill day) and we had children with us we hadn’t decided, on the 3rd visit to the table the not so lovely host said “ I need this table back by 2.30 mind” so before we had even ordered we were being made to feel as if we were being rushed. If it hadn’t been for the children, I would have got up and left and gone to the horseshoe nearby that has such a lovely owner that always makes you feel welcome. After we ordered food the blonde haired older lady delivered it to the table and one plate was wrong…. When I said, she flicked her hair and turned on her heel, with no apologies and returned with the correct meal. The food was adequate, nothing to write home about and when I went to the loo after my food they were filthy!! Needed a good brush and mop. Gross!! Will not be returning again. Worst Experiance in a long time.

The goytre arms isn’t the perfect place,Indeed , me and my family went to this pub with our friends we chose this place because it was close and nearby but the conditions were poor . And not to mention the staff all vaped and smoked it was filthy.Would not recommend .

Food was tasty and well priced. Everything was clean and staff were friendly and attentive. Toilets were clean and accessible to disabled. The downside was that it was freezing cold and not even the food warmed us up

Lovely food, great service. 6 of us and all enjoyed our meals. We had Hoisin Chicken Skewer, lasagne, gammon, burger and chicken nuggets. Will be back.

A Friday evening meal at the Goytre Arms early January was truly lovely. With everything going on at the moment, the management and staff had gone above and beyond to make you feel safe, the place was spotless!The team were friendly, the environment was warm and cosy and the food excellent. Thank you to the whole team for a lovely meal and place to visit. We will be back very soon.

Lovely clean, cosy but spacious pub. We called in as we were new to the area and looking for a late Sunday lunch. Greeted immediately and made to feel welcome. Limited menu but also specials available. We opted for lasagne and mixed grill which were both delicious. Would recommend for a meal or just a drink.

popped in for a meal on a week day night, just by chance as we were driving past. greeted by polite welcoming staff, we were seated immediately and amazed by the quirky decor surrounding us, in this cozy well presentation place. ordered veg lasagne which was awesome. very very reasonable prices, very nice food. Can't get served at the bar each visit won't be visiting again and the music is Loud and the main man needs to learn to smile and be more polite

Great pub good place to go for a meal

Good clean spacious pub. Friendly staff. Didn't get to see the drinks at the bar as we had table service, but moretti was on tap so I'd guess decent selection. The burger I had was one of the best I've had in a while, and the cheesy garlic bread was delightful. Thanks guys.

The best mixed grill I have had in a long time. Fantastic portion size and the staff was very pleasant. I have been going here for years and will continue to do so.

After a good but very hot ride around the beacons dropped in here on the way back to the motorway. A nice cold pint of shandy, and a lovely lasagne, chips and garlic bread went down a treat .Nice place !

The Food at the Goyte Arms was lovely, huge portions, so be aware. Everything was perfectly cooked. The only thing that let it down was the quality of the white wine. Really would recommend.

10/10 lovely place, fantastic friendly service. I had the rogan josh curry which was lush. The think steak chips were Devine. Love a good thick chip! My friend had the Goytre arms chicken which was amazing. The bbq sauce was tasty and the peas were cooked to perfection really good quality not cheap at all! All in all a wonderful visit and will definitely be back again. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to come!!!

Nice staff with a warm welcome. Booked for Sunday lunch, pork & lamb were beautifully cooked along with the roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & gravy, for us the thing that let the meal down was frozen veg.

The food has always been good, came last night and was disappointed with the meal. The peas were nasty and looked like a cheap version tasted the same, the Lasagne you could tell had been microwaved you could tell as it was burnt around the edges, I had gammon which was fatty and didnt taste very nice, dont like big steak chips it would be nice if they gave you a choice such as thin or thick chips. Definately needs to improve.

Went last night 5 june 2021 food was fab. My steak well done but not tough like some places do it. My hubby had the chicken and a lot of it. Well worth the money. Social distance fab lovely place will be back .

Unfortunately not a great experience. Friendly staff but the food was below average. I had haddock & chips, both were incinerated to breaking point upon contact with a knife & fork. My partner's steak was good 👍 but his chips were also next level crunchy. We've since been told the Indian takeaway next door (under the same management) is the better option.

Beautiful Sunday lunch collected today, lots of it, very fresh and very warm plenty of gravy (and mint sauce) will definitely order again when staying at Pont Kemys caravan park.

Previously had lovely meals and very welcoming, however, when the board outside said serving meals all day 3 of us went in and a lady said they had stopped serving at 3pm, it was 2.50pm but still wouldn't serve us. That was about 2 years ago, had a lovely birthday meal last year for my mum, booked a table this year on 08/12/2020 for 15/12/2020, arrived to a shut down pub! No communication from them to say it was closed and still on their FB page and website as open. When I complained they said they had sent voicemails which they had not. Not happy!!

What a pleasant surprise !!! Walked the canal and hoped for a drink but was fortunate to be able to have Sunday Lunch Everything a pud should be. Walk back along the canal contented.

Very good great value for the price

Visited last Saturday night and really glad we did. Everything was excellent my steak was wonderful it melted in my mouth and was so tasty. My partner had the lamb and it was so tasty. The service was brilliant and such lovely people who work there we had good fun with them especially the bell you press if you want anything. The food was pipping hot and very reasonable in price. Will definitely be returning lovely evening all round

The restaurant and pub is nicely presented and very quiet for a chat and also have a very lovely meal the owner of the restaurant served us he is very nice amd very pleasant to speak to

Nice pub, good social distancing. Had to ask for cutlery, then had to get own condiments. Steak pie was huge, would have been delicious had it not been so salty. My husbands steak was not good, very chewy and undercooked.

Had Sunday lunch at the goytra arms pub and was very disappointed it’s seem to be frozen veg that they served you and not fresh there was a tangy taste to everything on the plate vegetables they served was cold and the beef was awful really not bother and waste your money £12.50 wasted in our apotion never again

My husband and myself had Sunday lunch today, what a difference to the last time we visited. It is so clean and such a lovely feel to the place . My husband had the pork which was so tasty and I had the turkey. There were ample portions in fact I thought to much for myself , the gravy was so delicious and 4 veg plus best Yorkshire puddings I've tasted for a long time also parsnips which many places don't do those. Didn't have room for a dessert but my hubby had another one of the very nice cold Guinness. Hope it's not too long before our next visit

Decent pub for decent people! I do miss the Pocahontas and John Smith sign outside, that said inside it's proudly framed at the bar. The inside is immaculate, in fact I don't think I've ever seen such clean carpet in a pub! I had a couple of tasty pints, the food looked good. The kids were happy in the relaxed atmosphere supported by the efficient and friendly staff. Give it a go, especially if you commute past the place often and have wondered what it's like. Go on pop in.... it'll chill you out.

What a lovely clean pub. Attraction to detail in little things what make it look so spotless and clean. Food was piping hot and fresh. The only little niggle would be the owners didn’t seem that keen on children being in the pub. However we will be back for food again.

We had a girly catch up over a meal here tonight. My friend ordered the chicken special from the specials board and I had the lamb shank. The meals turned up and looked ok. The lamb shank was on a bed of caramelised onions with garden peas and gravy. The mash was very very sweet. The peas looked like the cheapest ones they could possibly find and I know lamb could be fatty but this was awful. I only managed to eat about half the meal. My friend however sent hers back herself as no one came to ask if our meals were ok. The chicken was over cooked and her vegetables cold. Also she noticed some of her cauliflower was mouldy. They cooked her another meal but she said it was tasteless and the sauce was watery. She didn’t eat much of the 2nd meal. We did think about having a dessert but by then we were put off. We decided to leave so went to pay. My friend told them about the meal she had and they kindly said she didn’t have to pay. I paid for mine and was given a 20% off voucher for next time. This however was left on a window sill outside as we won’t be coming back. Very disappointing.
