The Good Companions in Eastleigh

Myself and 2 friends had steak ,mushroom ,chips ,peppercorn sauce last night .. Wow definitely recommend this meal. Generous portion, cooked too perfection.. Staff were excellent. Great pub . Will definitely be back .

In the area did not book but managed to get a table would advise that you book as it got busy Staff pleasant food was of good portions and well presented we had the gammon which was excellent with a very good serving of chips the garlic bread was large enough to serve two people we watched the other meals coming out especially the burgers and they looked very good this is a place not to be missed if you like good hearty food prices was reasonable some of the best pub food had in a long while

We visited 4th April as we have never been in and thought it high time we went. The staff very welcoming and friendly. They explained most things are locally sourced and cooked to order from fresh. We were warned the portion size was on the generous side- lol they weren't wrong 😆 I couldn't finish my scampi n chips. The food was delicious. We would definitely go again

We turned up on a Thursday lunchtime, having always lunched on a Sunday before. The Sunday roasts are excellent. The mid week menu has a great choice to suit most palates. The service is efficient and friendly. The food is cooked to order so don’t expect a ‘fast food’ experience! Highly recommend

The Good was very good and the waiters were really kind I would defenitley reccomend for anyone come here for a good bear and food. 😁

We arrived a bit early - they don’t start serving food till 6pm. We were well looked after by Josh who let us order a bit earlier.The food was amazing, huge portions, excellent value for money. I’ve heard the roasts are awesome too so will be back soon.

We came to have a Sunday lunch with family. We had roasts with lamb shanks, chicken and pork, while the kids had chicken nuggets and burger, each with chips. Fantastic value for money. Absolutely delicious food, and perfectly cooked. Great service too. Highly recommend.

I can highly recommend the Goodies! We had lunch on a Friday. The food was delicious, great value for money and the service was exceptional. Thank you - not just for an amazing lunch today but for a great place we can relax with a beer!

I just had to write a review as they always cook a good meal here. Ordered Pork Belly x 2 with vegetables and Chips, it's amazing. Always hot and freshly cooked and certainly puts some restaurants to shame. The Pork crackling is the best. For a local pub producing this sort of quality food and at a decent price it needs to be shouted about. Very friendly service always with a smile. 10/10 thank you.

Excellent food and service, one of the best Roasts I'd ever had out, brilliant. Can really understand why they are nice and busy, best to book up early for a table. Highly recommend.

Great food. Friendly staff. Like most pub restaurants these days, it lacks the atmosphere of pubs of old. None the less, it's worth a visit.

We had our work Xmas party upstairs at the Good Companion’s, it was fab. The communication with Claire and Angie made the booking so smooth and the night itself was great, food was plentiful, very hot, tasty and service was also fab. Booked a table for 5 on a Sunday as reviews for the roasts were amazing and wow, it was simply the best meal we’ve had in years and that is no exaggeration. We’ve paid for some very expensive roasts recently in establishments which could learn so much from the Good Companions. Having driven past it for years, we decided to give it a try. Between us we had the beef, chicken and pork belly roast. Everything was cooked perfectly; tender meat, amazing crackling, fresh vegetables which were beautifully presented, and gluten free gravy and Yorkshire puddings were already part of the menu. The portion sizes were just like your Nan used to serve up and the Yorkshires were the size of crowns! The gluten free desserts were brilliant as ice-cream is usually the only option. Every member of staff was delightful and helpful. We cannot rate this highly enough and hope that after reading this review you will book a table with the confidence that you will have a wonderful experience and meal.

Just got home from a Xmas do at the Good Companion. It was the best food I have had in a pub in ages. Service was amazing. Thank you so much for a brilliant evening.

Came in last night for a meal, service, 10 out of 10, although we waited for 45 min for our food to arrive, the pork belly with seasonal veg and mash was Amazing. Absolute praise to the chefs. Would 100% be going back.

We held a surprise 70th birthday party in the events room. The night was a big success, everyone enjoyed the food and the bar staff were brilliant, very helpful.

Popped in for food while staying in a nearby hotel, great friendly welcome staff moved the sign so we could park our car, food was amazing even if the portion size was a little large

We had the upstairs function room for our family occasion, our Golden Wedding anniversary. Thirteen of us. We were given the opportunity of pre-ordering, so we did. Plenty of choice. The room was just perfect, tables set out so that we could all chat. Staff were very friendly, professional and attentive but not intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely, compliments to the Chef. (We all had different). Although there were quite a few of us, we all had our food at the same time. So Good Companions, thank you for making our family occasion a fantastic one. We will be back for sure 😁

On way to Southampton airport, stopped for food and to watch rugby. Very welcoming staff, brilliant service. They changed TV channel for me. The service made me feel that I was the only person in the pub. To top it all, big portion of Sunday roast which was very tasty. Thank you Good Companions great end to a brilliant weekend! 👏😁

Lovely food but staff appeared very stressed and hurried, whizzed past us several times before acknowledging us waiting at the bar which wasn't a warm welcome. The food was amazing but make sure you have 3/4 of an hour spare to wait for it. Had to go up to the bar to order more drinks whilst we waited for food, which is fair enough but the bar staff had told us they would come to us! Lovely pub but too many let downs on this occasion.

Went to the Good Companions on Friday night for a Meal and couple of drinks. I had the 8oz Chuck and Short Rib Beef Burger, Chips, Onion Rings, Salad and Home made Coleslaw. The Wife had Chicken, Bacon and Leek Pie, Mash Potato and Veg. Best Meal we've had out in a long time. I've given 5 stars across the board as in my opinion it's worth that.

Just popped in without any planning and was treated to some excellent food. The best pork belly I can remember. The pub was clean and service very attentive. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Friday and it was pretty quiet. Definitely coming back next time we're in the area.

Myself and a friend have visited several times with our babies during the day for food and drinks. We sat in the ‘restaurant’ style area which is nicely decorated. The food is lovely, especially the chips. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Value for money, very easy going. Small kids area out the back so you can have a drink while letting them play. Food is plentiful and reasonably priced. If you’re staying in Holiday Inn in Eastleigh, pop down here for food instead of hotel, you can’t go wrong!!

Bar staff cannot do enough for customers . Seating very pleasant nice surroundings. And the food is top notch.

Really nice pub with classic pub food done well. We were a bit intimidated walking in to the pub with its big "Live Sky Sports" signs but were welcomed as soon as we walked in and were shown around the corner to the nicely decorated restaurant (with no TV's 👍). Service was fast and attentive and was very reasonably priced. I would recommend this as a great stop off.

It is difficult to judge here as I did not spend so much time in this place, however I had a nice Gin tonic there and atmosphere was ok.

We went there today for my birthday lunch (3 adults, 2 teens and a toddler) A warm welcome greeted us, in a spotlessly clean and tidy establishment. Purchased a reasonably priced round of drinks, then sat out back on some benches in the kids play area (a logical idea we thought, placing benches in the kids area). The whole menu looked good, but wow, when the food arrived we were amazed. This was beyond top quality presentation. Good sized portions too. But the taste, phenomenal! You must try the lamb kofta. 6 empty plates, full bellies and happy faces. We had heard of the Companions good reputation and todays visit did not disappoint. A must for anyone desiring exceptionally top quality food, reasonably priced, in a good location with friendly folks running the place. Thanks you Good Companions 👌👍

Had an amazing roast at The Good Companions. Service could have been a bit faster considering it wasn’t too busy, but staff were all lovely! The pork belly was honestly the best roast pork I’ve ever had, and will definitely be coming back!

Very quite when I was in there for a family drink but staff very friendly. Was made to feel welcome.

Stayed at Holiday Inn overnight before cruising. Easy 10 minute walk and both enjoyed excellent, freshly cooked bar meals - and drinks. Service with a smile. Spotless property. Looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommended.

Visited with my daughter and grandchildren for a Sunday roast. The meat was perfect, so tender. The potatoes were big and fluffy, obviously hand cut, so fresh, definitely not frozen. Cheesy leeks, buttered carrots and the best gravy I have ever had. Can't recommend enough....

I hired out the upstairs venue for my 30th Birthday which was absolutely brilliant!. The staff and Claire could not of been more helpful from start to finish. Had a mixture of buffet foods that was tailored to what I wanted which was delicious and very much appreciated by my guests!. Also had a try of the food from the bar the night before hand while setting up, which was the bangkok bad boy vegetarian burger (very much recommended!). I had about 60-70 guests altogether which made the venue look full but not over crowded with enough room for the DJ and for people to sit down. Altogether a fantastic night!.

We had booked a B n B for the night and 2 different couples recommended The Good Companions. The service, the bar staff and the ordering of drinks and food was done well, clearly and warmly. We waited about 15 minutes for the food which was fine but the landlady Claire came over to apologise, she had no need to do this but showed how thoughtfully she was of customer service. The meals were excellent and great value and we will use this pub again for a future pre cruise meal or even a pre Eastleigh football match, Claire, Dan and Maggie you may not remember us but we will remember you, your sign outside welcoming everyone and the quality of the visit, after the covid break you deserve success,

We hired the function room to celebrate our son's 30th birthday. It was clean and tidy with an amazing staff and delicious food and catered for a gluten free diet too. Will be booking again.

We reserved 2 tables for a birthday meal and drinks. Tables were luckily under the gazebo as it was raining but the weather did nothing to deter from the fabulous service and probably the best pub meal I've had. Chunky chips to die for and the biggest, freshest cajun chicken burger ever! We all cleared our plates and will definitely return (especially as we only live 2 minutes walk away )Would highly recommend

I have visited a few times recently due to birthday celebrations. Lovely welcoming staff and lovely atmosphere - if only they could control the weather . Can't wait to be able to sit inside! If you want food I would recommend the Cajun Chicken burger or an amazing roast on a Sunday.

My husband and I decided to walk to our local pub, which is not somewhere we have ventured to since lock down and its subsequent relaxation. What a great decision, the Sunday roast was exceptional, flavoursome, freshly cooked and huge! Covid measures were spot on.

We visited for the first time last weekend (22 August) as my brother lives close by. We popped in for a bite to eat around 7 pm and we were still there at closing time!The pub is well decorated, there's plenty of space and all government guidelines are being followed ref Covid-19. There's also a really nice vibe which is in part due to the very friendly team - we were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door!We were impressed with the menu and very impressed with the food when it arrived - the presentation was excellent. I had the Pan Fried King Scallops (served with chunky chips) and they were delicious. I could quite easily go through the menu and I have my eye on the rib eye for my next visit.There is also a good selection of draught beers, a decent selection of soft drinks and plenty of choice for spirit drinkers - including a great selection of fruity gin! We particularly liked the Boe passion fruit gin and we'll be getting stuck into it again next time we visit.We had a cracking evening and we'll see you again soon! Thank you.

Best pub food I’ve had. Freshly cooked food and the staff make you feel very welcome and value their customers. Currently working through the menu. Faultless so far. Very clean place and a great pint
