A group of 6 of us visited for the first time recently. Cosy dog friendly pub, very friendly staff, food all cooked well and flavoursome, will be returning!

Fabulous pub and such a lovely bunch! Nicki and the team looked after 18 of us for a delicious Sunday lunch! We booked ahead and found our huge table waiting for us and had a fabulous afternoon. Everyone left stuffed and all the dogs had a wonderful time too as this place is super dog friendly. Thank you xx

We had booked ahead for 15 of us for lunch on a mild New Year’s Day walk from Meopham. The pub was busy with a pleasant atmosphere. A line of tables had been put together for us all, nicely set up with cutlery and napkins. The staff were excellent. Nothing seemed to be too much effort. They were attentive and pleasant. Great food. The whole experience was excellent.

Wow, what a lovely little pub. Modest from the outside, but the inside is cosy, super-dog-friendly, and staffed by the kindest and most efficient folk. Obviously a local institution in the best way--everyone is friendly, there's darts in the corner and a regular quiz night. We stopped in for lunch and drinks after a 4-mile hike round Luddesdowne village and were made very welcome. And the food is excellent solid pub fare--I had a lamb burger special which was delicious. Highly recommended!

Great staff in a beautiful setting. Pub decor is rather tired

Absolutely charming. This warm pub is definitely out in the sticks but that's why it's charming. A huge carpark, so no excuse there then. A good array of lagers and ales. Wines and spirits too. Food is quite lovely. Not pretentious either. It's quite normal, which I like. Nikki and Olivia looked after us and regularly provided the local cycle club with a few baskets of chicken nuggets and chips. Mind you they do put a few quid behind the bar when they're there. With the pub plum centre to the local vineyard, it's no surprise that it's owned by the operating company , and with this a number of changes are likely in the following years.

What fantastic Sunday Lunch, we throughly enjoyed the ambience of lovely Kent Public House. The Staff were very attentive and the other patrons looked as they were really enjoying their time on Father’s Day celebrations. Definitely shall return to taste the week menu and ales of course. My partners father wants to return just to beat at darts.

Was expecting nice Sunday roast as been recommended. Got small burnt frozen spuds, frozen veg partly cooked. Gravy and Yorkshire was best Thing.

In the midst of beautiful countryside this is a great traditional pub with friendly staff that serve delicious lunch snacks and evening meals at reasonable prices. Range of beers, including 3 real ales, as well as wines and spirits. Great super efficient friendly manager. Locals are very affable and helpful. Well worth a visit or more. Tuesday it is not open till 15:00. It really is a friendly affable proper pub with affordable great food

This is a fantastic pub in the Kent countryside surrounded by farms and vineyards. Perfect place to end a nice walk with a cold pint or two in the summer or by the roaring fire in the winter. The Golden Lion has a great selection of reasonably priced drinks, a tasty menu including a Sunday roast and the most welcoming publicans you could ever meet. Don't be surprised if you're greeted with a big cuddle from both of them on your second visit! This place has the feel of a 'proper pub'. Its so dog friendly, your pooch can expect to be welcomed by their own doggy publican 'Jasper' who pours the pawfect pint. Can't recommend highly enough.

We visited this weekend after a lovely. Nice and toasty inside. Really tasty food with great portions. Nice drinks too!

Pleasant stop in the middle of our walk

A friendly pub let down a little by at least one the patrons who just likes to use the F and C words a lot as he shouts to his friends. The owners didn’t seem to mind so it’s probably normal. The chicken in the roast was lovely but the very dark brown gravy showed it had been stewing a while as had all the vegetables. Same with the pork except the pork was tough and chewy. If you like your roast spuds really well done, as we do, you will like them.

I was taken to The Golden Lion by a friend for a birthday treat. It was a middle of the week so not very busy, which was nice. The atmosphere was nice and the young lady behind the bar pleasant and helpful. We didn't feel rushed at all. Which was even better as we had a leisurely meal without any pressure to finish. It might be different on a busy day, but we felt very welcome. Even when we couldn't manage a dessert and just had a coffee it was well accepted. We both had Pate to start with followed by Scampi and chips for our main. The scampi was plump and filling and the chips were thick and cooked to perfection. The meal was filling, so they lost out on a dessert. A nice touch as you enter you are reminded to use the shoe covers that are available if your shoes/boots are muddy. At least that way nobody is walking in mud when they enter the pub and the staff don't have the lovely job of cleaning up later. We are thinking about out next visit.

Had a lovely evening meal. Food and drink was reasonably priced. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating areas. Good sized children's play area for families.. friendly, approachable staff.

Standard pub fare. Good garden with views of the vineyard yard next door and passing tractors. Bring a child to use the play equipment.

I came here last night with my Sister. Lovely country pub with a nice large garden. Staff were nice and friendly. Shared a bottle of wine and had a few starters which were delicious and great portion sizes. Will definitely be returning, thank you 😊

We enjoyed a really delicious Sunday roast at the Golden Lion. We all chose the mixed roast which included chicken, beef and pork, with plenty of tasty roast potatoes, green beans, carrots, home made cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding! Excellent value at £12 a head. Very friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. Not been here for many years and we will return.

We called in the Golden Lion on Saturday, on the spur of the moment thing. Bumped into a couple of people who we had not seen for a long time. The person behind the bar was very attentative and everyone in there was very friendly and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely call in again.

Some lunch food selections from the menu were not available but ladylady allowed us to also select from the evening menu as well. 5 star service with landlady very friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Reasonably priced meals. Tradional pub with dart board and log fire. I am sure we will return

Quite simply the best cauliflower cheese ... in the world

My wife and I went there yesterday (Thursday ) fantastic meals Excellent customer service. friendly staff great friendly atmosphere, would recommend the sausage and mash, AND baked potato. Great value food well worth the visit fantastic location will go again

We visited on Sunday 24th with my friends, family and husband. My nephew lives nearby and he thought it would be a nice idea to have a few relaxing drinks in this pub. My friend and I (both female; we arrived alone as we were waiting for the rest of the group to join us as they were walking behind us) ordered drinks and paid for them. We asked the bar staff if we could move the furniture to allow our group to be able to all sit together. When the bar staff said we could “no problem”, my friend and I attempted to move the bench. Suddenly, a man appeared and was very confrontational. He said “What are you doing?” We explained and he said “this is my pub” in a very aggressive and intimidating manner. My friend did swear as she was scared and shocked. I challenged the landlord and he kept on repeating “this is my pub” and “you are drunk” (which I was not). At this point our husbands arrived and he became aggressive with them both “don’t square up to me or I will have you”. He then barred my friend and I from the pub and we did not receive a refund. As a woman I find this behaviour disgusting and unacceptable. I am considering reporting this individual to Kent Police. As a Type One Diabetic also, this aggravated my condition by the stress and shock I was put under. Beware everyone. If you need a drink in the area, go to the Cock Inn which is just up the road. The lovely landlord welcomed us and treated us with kindness and respect, as we should have been treated by the landlord and landlady of the Golden Lion.

Food was amazing, great service. We had the Nacho's, tempura prawns and camembert. Sausage and mash which looked outstanding whilst I had the burger which was cooked perfectly. The barmaid went above and beyond. Very happy with my visit and definitely will be back.

We stumbled across The Golden Lion on a long walk in the North Downs and were delighted. Lunch (sandwiches and a salad in our case) is ample (especially the toasted baguettes), the staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a large garden with a lot of seating, both in shade and sun. We also noticed that there is a substantial play area for children for those on a family visit. Thank you everyone at The Golden Lion.

We visited the Golden Lion to celebrate a 60th birthday. The COVID-19 precautions were first class (first place we’ve been to that also took our temperatures too) but not overly intrusive and the staff efficient and friendly. Food was good as was the selection of beers and wines. Large rear garden was also great for launching my drone to take a night shot of the pub (with the landlord’s permission of course) too!

Great time. They have everything in place for this ghastly virus and were able to give us a great visit. Staff friendly and excellent, just go there! Oh - beer was good too.

We discovered this delightful country pub about 3 years ago when we were looking for somewhere local that was dog friendly. From the 1st time we stepped through the doors we were made to feel welcome & even though we don't pop in as often as we would like we are always treated like old friends. The food is lushy, lush & I highly recommend the Lion Burger, fish & chips, the Lion curry, the lamb shank, the scampi, in fact the whole menu, even the dishes I haven't tried yet! Oh & the Sunday Roast is to die for!!

Met a friend for drinks after cycling to the pub..very friendly and helpful staff who were very helpful. and lovely seating area outside. Have been before with children and grandchildren...a secure play area in the garden too.We will definately be eating here soon as food looked delicious.

Popped in for a quick pint. One barmaid (Sam) pub quiet busy with walkers regulars and half term school mums. Barmaid never missed a stride. Top service with a smile. Can't fault pub or starf. Most pleasant. Five star.

A very warm welcome with excellent Timothy Taylor Boltmaker on tap. Passable ham, egg and chips, lasagne and puddings. Clean loos, worth a visit if you are in the area.
