The Golden Chip in Cookstown

Always a great experience when I go to The Golden Chip :) Such a friendly team of people, the service is fantastic and the food is amazing

Being Ceoliac, I always have a problem finding something to eat when I'm out and about. The Golden Chip came up trumps with this issue, offering me a stake kebab and chips, which was delicious. Well done, Golden Chip.

Chips were undercooked yellow colour not golden needed cooked for 5mins longer plus expensive plus not many chips put into bags getting ripped off not good at all!!!

Best chips in the area. If passing through Moneymore I always stop by.

He had the fish super with a large portion of fish and the mushy peas were spot on. I had a cheese burger 🍔

Never can get them on the phone takes along time last Saturday night it took me over a hour I normally wouldn't bother keep ringing but I was curious on how long it took me to get through it was a hour and five minutes not good it's worse than trying to get through to the doctors it the morning and this is a local chippy lol

The fish was dried up and the chips were soft too much saltand no vinegar,very bad food for the money.Will never use this place again.Would not recommend !

Great chicken fillet burgers and best chips in mid ulster

Great food but they could do with changing up the menu and adding on new additions. Same old menu for quite a few number of years now!

This must be a local chip shop for local people, because we ended up with burgers with no salad or sauce and the smallest 'large' portion of chips we've ever had. The chips were tasty but the chicken fillet burgers were greasy. Not impressed. I'm glad we're not local.

Best Fish n Chips in Mid Ulster !

Food was very good. Good portion size in a good container. Really enjoyed it would recommend. For me one of the best chippys in the surrounding area.

Worse place I ever been too. Order 2 burger lunch specials, and let's say burgers in McDonald's are bigger. Had to go back again as didn't give us the chips, which were disgusting and with no salt n vinegar like I asked for.

if you buy more as 2 item check your bag really well because they 'like' to forget to give for you your full order. who ordered in front off me came back because missed 2 fanta from their order.missed 2 burgers from my order...I had to go back twice while I got my full order. horrible service but good business method for them. Thank you,never more. Avoid.

Food was ok, but customer service was horrible. Firstly the order , which was repeated back to me and confirmed what we ordered before paying, missed off one item. It wasnt even on the bill! Then, when we went back to mention this, we were made to wait even more. While we were waiting they put our original order into the food warmer. When the missed portion was ready, they actually handed over only the original order! After we noticed this, the staff didn't even apologise. They were the ones, felt upset! This was one horrible service TWICE!!!! Never again want to go back and we wouldn't recommend it either.

Portions getting smaller, prices get bigger... Not a good combination, don't think I'll be back.

Order 2 cheese burgers with onions and red sauce and both had no cheese but were lovely. Also ordered ckn fillet burger with lettuce and mayo and got a plain ckn burger which my son was not impressed and refused to eat it.🙉Chips and curry sauce were lovely. 3 bottles of juice were a £5er and food a bit pricey,need a bit more attention to detail but over all good food.

Chips were a disgrace and I got a wrap which was totally different to the one I ordered.. the person taking the order must be totally thick .wont be going back there again ..disgusting

Just stopped here by chance and was absolutely so impressed by the quality of the food , freshly cooked to perfection and the girls serving were very polite, friendly and efficient, certainly hope to call here again and most definitely recommend

A very busy carryout .. social distancing in place with sanitiser for customers entering .. lots of food varieties on the menu .. chose fish & chips and as always in good food places it was a 20 minute wait on the fish being cooked properly .. I wasn't disappointed the chips were really tasty and the fish was excellent .. five stars to this place .. plenty of staff on hand to deal with phone in customers and callers like myself .. would highly recommend 'The Golden chip'

Not fussed on new skimpy packaging. Steak on the kebabs is amazing.

DISGUSTED I was waiting to order and someone else came in and the person behind the counter said next order and I said a tiny bit of my order and they ignored me and asked the other person are you ordering and they went on blah blah blah whatev then I said to them sorry can I place my wee order and they said in a cheekyish way be with you in a few minutes and she wasn’t even doing anything

Fine food served, they do a nice stew, which had a positive effect; had an interesting chat with the lad serving, regarding a common interest in food preparation. Enroute home from my destination, l again called sampling some pleasant chicken coujons; just not in cooking form that night.

excellent takeaway food, on of the best in the area. Can be very busy at weekends. On occasions had to go back in as stuff had been missing in my order but still worth 5*

A good local chippy with an excellent quality of food. In my opinion one of the best in the country. And I travel around 30000 miles a year in Northern Ireland so I have seen them all, the good the bad and the absolutely outstanding just like the golden chip.

Situated in Moneymore, half way between Cookstown and Magherafelt, it is better than the chippies in either of these towns.I have never had anything other than fish and chips here. They are always good, never greasy.It is often crowded, and the queue can be slower than expected due to the number of telephone orders.Worth the wait, but if you are in a hurry, place a phone order.

We called in and ordered a Fish, Burger & chipsThe fish was lovely, lovely batter, great fish and very tasty.The Burger was really much like and chippy burger a bit dry and with the added onion my partner said it was tasty.The chips were lovely, home made chips a good portion and enough for a few for both of us.I'd also ordered a small side salad it was also plentiful and was lovelyStaff were here friendly and attentive and nothing was any botherAll in all I totally agree it's a great chippy, great staff and good portions I've included the most recent menu for your viewing

Called in here recently and fish fried to perfection and beautiful chips. Reckon it’s the best fish and chip shop in Mid-Ulster and certainly better than any chip shops in Magherafelt. Have never been disappointed with anything I have bought here. Please note that this chip shop is situated in Moneymore and not Magherafelt as stated on Trip Advisor.

This one is tricky. Hit and miss depending on the staff on the shift.Very hard to get vegetarian option, apparently if you order veg kebab and there is meat in it you can “just scrape it off”?? Used to be the best around, now not so sure. Mixed up orders, waiting 45 mins on standard orders etc etc.Plus points you can ring in and order on the way so that good will be ready.

Firstly this chip shop is in Moneymore, not Magherafelt as indicated in your location. Called in here today and their chips are to die for. If your ever passing through Moneymore give them a call. I myself travel from Magherafelt to here as there are none of the chip shops in Magherafelt would compare with this one in Moneymore. Best chip shop in Mid-Ulster by far. Definitely highly recommended.

The food is really good although the staff could make more of an effort to smile to the customers. They do take telephone orders. Best chip shop in the area.

Probably the best chippy in the mid ulster area

Been eating from the golden chip for years. Nothing out of the ordinary on the menu but the chips are the best within 20 miles and the kebab sauce is amazing. Everything else is good and tasty but fairly standard chippy food. Overall hard to beat.

We live close by so would visit this takeaway fairly regularly their chips cannot be beaten. They do a great chicken kebab on chips or pitta bread. Best chippy in the area.

This chippy sells excellent fish and very tasty chips, they have a great menu, with a vast range with plenty of choice.

La comida es excelente, orden nunca mal que es extraordinario para una tienda muy transitada de chip. Recomiendo que sonaba en la orden como en el momento en que llegas allí es siempre listo y pipping caliente incluso después de unos 10 minutos en coche.

Mejor Chippie a mediados de Ulster. Las raciones son grandes y el pescado siempre fresco y con un rebozado.
