Lovely little pub, nice friendly atmosphere.

Wow,what a gem of a pub. Called in on the off chance for a meal,four of us with our dog.Pub was busy but found seats in the rear dining area which was full of character. Landlord was really friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Food was superb and really good value.A definite go to pub if you're in Much Wenlock, can't praise it enough. We'll be back!!

We had a Sunday roast here and it was absolutely delicious and plentiful. There was also the option of a smaller portion for a lesser price which I find particularly useful sometimes (but not this time). It was a very welcoming place with a log burner for the cool afternoons. A good range of beers. The staff were really friendly. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely return.

Great local.. Msg them the week before regarding about the 6 nations and dinning, if we'd need to book. Mgg'd back almost straightaway with a more detailed answer to my question a little later. Was busy in there early on. Not the biggest front bar. There is a back room with a lot more space. Service and beer choice was good. Wifey is a vegi, choices were slightly limited for her ( they'd run out of what she wanted). I had the ale pie, was goood, portion size ok. Place was very popular with walkers. Would go back without qualms.

Popped in to see what lunch menu contained. Excellent food, service and staff. Generous portion on our wraps choice. Good old fashioned pub, lovely open fire, and well patronised for late lunchtime.

A nice friendly local in Much Wenlock High street. Real ale is served, has a menu and bar snacks. Well worth a visit.

Really nice old Inn/Hotel really clean and friendly. Don't know what the foods like but never heard any complaints in the 3 hrs we were there.

Welcoming, cosy little pub with extra seating in the back. We had a couple of drinks only, no food so cant comment on kitchen. I believe they're closing kitchen early on Sunday, so probably better double checking thier website regarding dining. A nice experience, friendly little place. We'll be back. Thanks.

Called in on a short visit to Much Wenlock intending to just have a drink. Had the Enville brewery IPA. Excellent quality drink, really well kept Atmosphere and surrounding of this gem of a pub we're so nice that we stayed for a meal. We had pie ( from local butcher who it turned out was sat next to us )and mash as well as Yorkshire Pudding filled with Sausage and mash. Fabulous home cooked quality and very generous portions. This is a genuine old fashioned British pub. Warm ( log fire) ,Welcoming , comfortable. Wish it was local to me

Visit to Much Wenlock with the dog and looking for somewhere for lunch. What a fantastic dog friendly pub. Ben and his staff were fantastic - welcoming, friendly and so professional. We had the curry and the chilli which were exceptional, really tasty and well presented. The atmosphere in this pub was brilliant and would come back to use again in a heartbeat, if you're in the area don't miss out on a great venue.

Lovely, relaxing atmosphere and welcoming host. We sat down by fireplace and ordered some sweet potato fries, which were delicious. We also enjoyed soup with fresh and very tasty bread. 🍲 Good quality Guinness too. We fall in love with this space.

Fantastic traditional pub with tasty freshly prepared food. 32 of us went to the George and Dragon for lunch. We pre-ordered our food. Ben and his team were amazing and really looked after us. We had the whole back area to ourselves. The food was fantastic. I had pie and mash and a pint of Shropshire Gold ale... it was delicious. They catered brilliantly for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free folk as well as meat eaters. The pub has a great atmosphere. There were plenty of locals at the front bar, who were all happy and welcoming. A really great, proper country pub in a beautiful town. Perfect. Thank you all for a lovely experience.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch (for 11 of us including 4 children), combined with great friendly service from Millie, Alfie and Jodie in a wonderful old pub....what’s not to like!...we all had a brilliant time and will be back again soon. Definitely recommended.

This pub was my regular when I lived locally, but I hadn't been for a couple of years. We went on Saturday with my husband, mum and 2 kids (4 and 2) and were given a really warm welcome by Ben and the team. They were so helpful and very patient with the kids! Food was excellent with very generous portions (try the buttermilk chicken burger) and plenty of choice on draught. Well worth a visit for a cosy lunch!

Turned up at 10 to 8, people eating place busy. Asked could we order, only to be told the kitchen clock is fast so at 5 to no. The chef wants to go home. Pathetic. I'll just start turning up to work 10 minutes late and leaving 10 minutes early. Decent pint thought

Lovely pub with unique atmosphere and great service. Unfortunately, too many dishes from the menu were not available, so despite the great effort of the staff to find something for us, we left hungry.

Ok.. it was a Saturday evening, no cooked food ,which seems to be the norm in Ludlow after 8pm.. however there were sandwiches. And great beer and friendly folk .. with wonderful service

Much Wenlock is a lovely place and the George added to the whole feel. A lovely old pub with real fire place, pew type seats. Great Beers and also alcohol free spirits, which as the driver were great and better than coke. There was another room out back but think that was more for food.

Small little pub it's OK but not for me

Lovely people and the perfect setting for a tasty Sunday lunch. This place is not a 'gastro pub' but they offer really good value, great beer and are super dog-friendly. Can't wait to go back.

What an absolute gem!! Lovely old pub with seating outside in a little sun trap. Food was delicious best chips I have ever tasted. Will definitely be returning, friendly and welcoming staff especially to our slightly nervous pooch. Just great.

I visited the pub whilst on holiday with friends last night. We had preordered food as there were 12 of us. INCREDIBLE food. High quality and cooked to perfection! We were so surprised at the value for money we got, amazing portions also. We were given a section in the restaurant but it was no trouble when we asked to move the tables about. The staff were extremely friendly, funny and accommodating. The pub itself was very picturesque with lots of character. Wonderful! Thank you so much.

Where do you start, Front of House and Service 100%, Bar great choice and good prices. Now the important bit, WOW!!!!! their Chef can cook, we had three mains, and we were all really impressed. Don't just take my word for it just look at the other reviews this is a hell of a good place to eat. Like the rest of the town the people are brilliant in this pub.

A proper old fashioned, traditional Inn. Plenty of seating in this beautiful olde building. It's friendly staff, great atmosphere, well kept and served beers, lagers etc make it am ideal watering hole. Added to this the beautifully cooked , well priced food and your visit will be a pleasure. Look beyond the well worn furniture and dated decor. If you like the "Hungry Horse" type pub, it's not for you. Well worth a visit , if you are in the area if you enjoy a trad beer in a trad pub.

Visited late lunchtime. The menu was rather limited and the choice of beers was also limited.

Called in on Friday night and asked for a table in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Although there were 2 vacant tables they were both reserved so we were turned away. As we were staying for the weekend I called in when they reopened Saturday lunchtime and asked to book a table for Saturday evening. The lady behind the bar said they did not reserve tables in the bar area and said I would have to just turn up and take pot luck. I explained that they were reserved the previous night but she just carried on with what she was doing.

Had a lovely meal best pub meal we have for ages staff were really help service great. Every great and there are dog friendly too 10out of 10 will definitely be going back

Small and friendly, this village pub is really welcoming to locals and strangers alike. Well kept ales on tap, this is no gastro-pub it's the place to drop into after a walk and they're dog friendly too. Biscuits for the faithful friend in a jar over the fire, bar snacks for the rest of us.

By far the best and most historical pub in Shropshire. Set in probably the prettiest little town it boasts 13th century fixtures with original oak beams, inglenook fireplace and much more. Did I mention the landlord Ben and his awesome staff? They ARE just that! Nothing is too much trouble to them. They are so friendly, caring and add to the experience when being presented with a magnificent menu of fare. Food that is of the highest quality and freshness and yet the prices are unbelievably less that you would ever expect. 11/10 for this jewel in the Crown. We WILL be back again and again. We will even drive the 95 miles from our home to eat and drink there! How we wish this was our local.

Fabulous. Wanted a takeaway for me and my boys while watching the footy.

Ordered through just eat. Food ready to collect on time. Chips (crunchy!) , dragon burger (filling and tasty) , chilli (excellent could have been spicier but perfect for everyone) and a Pizza! All were excellent. Truly brilliant. If here again will make sure to eat and drink at this excellent pub.

Recently had a takeaway pizza from here! The service was honest and efficient! They were extremely busy but was told on the phone about the delay and we were happy to wait and so glad we did!!! It was so great! Me and my partner shared a pizza and we ordered 2 portions of chips and we were very satisfied after eating it! Didn’t leave any room for anything else!! Would totally recommend the pizza to anyone!!Will 100% order from here again!

At the moment, the George and Dragon are limited to Takeaway service only due to Covid. We have ordered Pizza delivery from the George and Dragon and found that the pizzas delivered were fantastic. So fresh tasting. I haven't had such a good pizza since our last visit to Rome. The food was delivered by Just Eat and arrived exactly on time.Today, I tried a takeaway roast dinner. Again, the quality of the food was amazing and the cost very reasonable.I can recommend anyone to try the George and Dragon's food delivery and takeaway service.

A great little pub with hearty meals to satisfy the hungry walker! Meals have a home cooked feel to them and seem to use locally sourced supplies. Staff are welcoming and friendly. it is a proper old fashioned pub, in a positive way.

Excellent food, catered really well for the kids and were ok with us bringing the dog. Perfect lunch, couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Ordered fish and chips on Just Eat. Delivery arrived late and it was just chips. Called the restaurant and they said they would send me another one out. Another 15 mins later a guy arrived with the food. He doesn't seem to understand what good customer service is and his attitude was rude and for some reason he was very defensive. He even asked me to check my food was the right order! Shocking really. We ordered pizzas a few days later and decided to collect instead due to issues with delivery the last time. We were given a collection time over an hour after ordering. Arrived on time and the pizzas weren't ready. They hadn't even started cooking them. Waited 10 minutes for one to come with the chips. Then waited another 10 minutes for the other pizza by which time the first pizza was sitting there getting cold and the chips getting cold. Shocking! Tried to give some polite and constructive feedback to the staff and they were not receptive at all and appeared to be defensive. I got the impression they clearly don't know how to operate a takeaway or delivery business, nor how to treat customers respectfully and reasonably. One of them told me he had been driving around all night in the fog which is completely irrelevant as we were collecting pizzas! It was almost as if he was looking for pity. Very odd. He was displaying quite strange behaviour and was really defensive and getting upset. The other didn't seem to be very sincere and it felt like he didn't really care and wanted to get rid of us. Not a good experience, they appear to have no clue about resolving problems and customer dissatisfaction effectively and rationally. Will not be using again. To top it off pizzas were nearly cold when we got home. Terrible. It's a shame because the food is actually quite nice!

Warm, friendly and very obliging. Not an easy combination to maintain in these uncertain times. It makes the whole Much Wenlock experience that bit more worthwhile.

Visited twice in the past couple of weeks...first visit was with a friend for dinner just before lockdown II: I had the steak and Guinness pie and it was out of this world! Service and friendliness of staff was great. Second visit was for takeaway meal due to lockdown: the organisation of this was very good, and I felt safe waiting to collect our meals. They were presented very well in boxes and paper bags so the food arrived home hot. All the meals were delicious and my wife said the burger (blue cheese) was one of the best she’s ever had!The George & Dragon is a local gem and deserves to thrive. It’s a proper, real life local serving delicious homemade food. We will definitely have takeaway again during lockdown but look forward to normality when we can visit for real and enjoy the ambiance and service of this special place. Thank you G&D!

Such a lovely pub with super accommodating staff, nothing is too much trouble. I had the spicy pizza and it was one of the best pizzas that I have in a long time. My friends had the windmill burger and a cheese pizza and they both looked delicious. Thank you, we will be back!

We returned to The George and Dragon and we were not disappointed! Fantastic service, friendly and helpful staff, plus a lovely atmosphere. All of the food was delicious and we appreciated the care for a member of the group with a nut allergy. Being local we come here a lot and it never lets us down. Despite current conditions it remains a heart of the town sort of pub, with friendly hosts and a great atmosphere (even at 6.30pm on a damp October Wednesday in the middle of a pandemic!) The food is a REAL step up from normal pub food. Pretty much everything is sourced locally. The chips are always fabulous, nothing out of a freezer bag here. The pizzas are hand made, base to toppings, thin crisp and delicious. And tonights special of morocan chicken with cous cous was just delicous. I all but ate the bones it was so yummy. The guys here have managed to support the town all the way through this nightmare time, even when it was take away only during the full lockdown. They never gave up. And we appreciate and love 'em for it. They manage to adhere to all the ever changing safety rules yet the G&D is still a fun place to go and a proper pub. PS the scotch eggs are the stuff of legend!

A very characterful public house with good food and excellent value. Sunday lunch had prices set on 1,2 or 3 courses and two were very filling. Nice home made soup followed by roast beef with a huge Yorkshire pud, parsnip, peas, broccoli, mashed turnip, carrots and cauliflower in a cheese sauce.

Booked a table 2 weeks in advance for a meal as a treat with my mum. We read the website first and thought the owners seemed like they would be really friendly and we wanted to give our business to them. Turned up in the pub and it was full in the front section. We was shown to our table in the back. Nobody else around and no atmosphere. We asked would we be the only one there and bar maid said yes for a min of hour. Felt they was taking advantage of our booking as they was guaranteed the business and reserved us the worst table. Therefore we left and got a chinese take away down the road. We received the best service and delicious food / catered for vegans too. Definitely will not try the George and the dragon again, very disappointed!

The warm welcome we received, followed by most acceptable drinks and simply delicious food made us realise that we had definitely chosen the right place to spend our first evening. Booked here while holidaying in the area, and so glad we did. It looks lovely from the outside, especially at night, and the welcome inside was just as good. Nice cosy seating, and a warm friendly atmosphere made a massive first impression. The menu isn't massive, but it covers all the bases, with a good variety of choices. The food itself was amazing, really good portions, stand outs for us were the mushroom starter, and the faggots main, just couldn't be faulted. Another surprise was the great value for money our visit was, we shall definitely return when in the area again.

This is a proper pub with a good drink selection and big, hearty servings of proper home-made food. Friendly staff team who do a great job coping with the restrictions they have to operate under.

We visited on a wet Saturday lunchtime, the barman had no idea on what beers were available, could not say if a beer had a citrus base to it or a bitter taste, the food available was very average. Having read other reviews we were looking forward to a nice meal, very disappointed.
