Food first class. Good portion size. Steak and kidney pud nearly as good as mum used to make. Owners and staff friendly and efficient. Especially the angry German Great value for money. Highly recommended

Delicious Sunday roast with friends. Staff are always friendly and attentive, the fire was lit and the wine was perfect! The best place to spend your Sunday afternoons! This pub is amazing all year round with its stunning views from the decking and the snuggly log fires inside, a must visit!!!

We arrived at this lovely pub on a grim Saturday afternoon with heavy rain. At 5.15pm the pub was already starting to fill up. Despite most of the tables being reserved, the very welcoming lady who greeted us moved things around to accommodate 4 people and a dog. We ordered our drinks and then checked out the menu. There was a lot of choice - some very good seafood options, with steak, gammon, burgers - there was something for everyone, including veggie and vegan options. We both chose the chicken chasseur, which was delicious - juicy chicken on a bed of mash with plenty of seasonal veg and a delicious sauce. We then had the locally sourced ice cream which was equally delicious. The service was very exceptional. Every member of the team there was friendly and extremely helpful. It deserves to be as busy as is it clearly is.

Went for the first time for our anniversary to have lunch and not disappointed. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the food is really nice and tasty. Lovely history with this pub which I enjoyed. Lots of parking in the pub car park and really clean toilet facilities. Will definitely go again, highly recommended.

What a wonderful evening we had! The waitress is absolutely hilarious and made our evening very special. First we sat on the terrace and admired the gorgeous view before moving indoors when the rain started, into a private corner for an absolutely delicious meal! The chips are absolutely gorgeous. If you're looking for a great experience in the area this is the pub to visit. The views are absolutely stunning

A hostile welcome and clearly had no interest in customer service at all. The woman made every excuse not to seat us for lunch. Quoting it’s too cold to sit outside, I’m waiting for my reserved tables, I may get Goodwood people through the door. Clearly our faces didn’t fit . I guess she is in a position to turn profit down! Pretty much perfect. If I tried really hard to fault it, I couldn't. Beautiful building, fabulous good value food and lovely service. We met the owner (Carole) despite a previous review, she's far from a Dragon. Our waitress Hayley was also lovely. We went on an evening in late October so couldn't really appreciate the terrace, but in the summer with views of South Downs and coastal plain it must be lovely. Highly recommended.

Visited during a holiday in West Sussex after finding it on Google maps (and realising we'd driven past it a day or so before thinking how lovely it looked from outside). Had the last space in the car park (very busy Friday lunchtime) and thought we'd struggle to get a table outside but were able to get a table for two on the terrace with lovely views over the Sussex countryside. Very organised with Covid-19, one-way system in and out, foot-operated hand sanitising stations, menus under glass on the tables and socially distanced tables. Staff all wearing PPE, but still very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, great choice of dishes using local food, we opted for the Ploughmans and Seafood Platter and we weren't disappointed - the platters were huge, great value for money, very tasty and fresh. Sadly we didn't have room for a dessert after that! Great customer service making for a lovely atmosphere on the sunny terrace, the inside also looked very welcoming and inviting. Couldn't fault it, we'll definitely be back.

Came here for a pub lunch with my partner whilst we were staying down this part for a staycation and what a wonderful lunch it was. All Covid safeguard measures were in place and we were greeted by a friendly team who directed us to our booked table. Wonderful freshly cooked home cooking, I had the steak ale and mushroom pie finished by some delicious desserts. All efficiently served to us, there was plenty of space for keeping social distance inside and the pub was fully booked. Only shame that we weren’t able to sit outside as you get splendid views of the South Downs. Will definitely come again, and hopefully next summer will book to sit outside when we hope the world will come back to normality.

Sunday lunch - As usual the food was fresh, hot and very tasty. The service was exceptional (like always) and nothing was too much trouble. The site is COVID secure and this is taken seriously which is very refreshing so you feel safe and secure during this strange time. The pub is beautiful, the team and owners are passionate about you leaving full, happy and healthy! First class. We will continue to return as many times as we can. One of our favourites!

We hadn't been to the George and Dragon for several years but being back in the area and with plenty of notice we made a lunch booking. A very good decision. A warm welcome and we were able to sit outside overlooking the Sussex countryside - hadn't planned to do so but it was a warm sunny day and too good to sit indoors. The pub is currently operating a limited menu but there is a decent choice and the food is very good and soundly traditional. Will definitely go back.

Wow - I know some other local places have great reviews, but this one really deserves it too. Two adults and one teen last minute booking. The staff were incredibly lovely, warm and welcoming. The food was really really good. My steak I had to send back for an extra mi ute on the grill, but it was handled without fuss or making me feel bad for it needing a tiny bit extra. Drinks were excellent including the local ale. Covid measures firmly and actively in place. Can’t recommend highly enough!
