Busy and nice atmosphere but food is sub par although quite cheap. Drinks also very cheap. So overall price is good but I would not have high expectations for the food here.

Large mixes grill asked for my steak to be as rare as possible. Came out medium well. Steive wonder must have been on the grill. I could run a spoons kitchen with my eyes shut

Went to the pub in rush hour. Had to wait some time to get the table cleaned up. Tried some sides with good beer. The food was good as well as beverages.

It's a Wetherspoons, so you know what you are getting. Solid pub, nice and busy and really cheap beer.

Food 5 star 100% came out hot texture was delicious and the drinks got me pissed so that’s a plus love the gateway just need some music and a dance floor but can’t becos of residents

This was a fantastic pub to go drinking at, with a stylishly presented counter! The decorations are pretty and have a historic vibe, staff were friendly and seating is comfortable. I had a refreshing pint of Stella Artois followed by a quality Despardos, cleanliness had been maintained too!

Food good value for money. But decor is in need of a facelift/freshen up.

Wetherspoon serves a variety of tasty dishes, including pizza, an all-day breakfast, pasta, fish and chips, and even Indian cuisine. They have many branches all across the UK, each with unique and interesting interior designs. The best part is that the prices for their food and drinks are reasonable, and the food is really delicious 😝. Why did we order two pizzas? Well, that's because we made a little ordering mistake 😱😝. Excellent pub, would highly recommend.

Two visits this week. Truly excellent steak on Tuesday, plus a real treat of Abbot Special Reserve on tap, albeit for a few pence more, but well worth it. Prices up slightly, however still by far the best value in Didsbury. Award winning licensee changed after ten years, but still very good. Latest visit marred slightly by an extended and dysfunctional family with behavioraly challenged and very noisy young children running around the pub until nearly 9pm (8pm curfew).

Meal not as described and cold burger

I went for coffee at breakfast time. I don't recall going to this branch of 'Spoons before, fairly sure I haven't. The staff were pleasant. It was fairly early in the morning, so I wasn't expecting much of an atmosphere. Unusually, I wasn't really up for looking at the wall prints that usually tell the history of the pub and the locality. Breakfast was the traditional breakfast. It was ok.

Quick and efficient and great food as always with Weatherspoon's

Pub is almost always untidy, with tables left uncleared and stacks of empties at the bar. Too few staff, and those there never in a hurry to serve. This has been an ongoing situation for a long time.

Since a change in management this place has taken a nosedive. I’ve been to eat 3 times and been disappointed every time & this is why… - breakfast; we were told they had run out of sausage. There are several supermarkets selling sausages nearby, could they not send staff out to get some and when I suggested this the staff just laughed at me but did add an extra rasher. It came with a thimble size portion of beans and one very soggy mushroom. Very poor ! Afternoon - ordered meal and told “no chips as fryer broken” Evening - ordered chicken burger and it tasted disgusting like disinfectant, staff not that interested in a refund & reluctantly replaced the burger I know it’s cheap booze that will always attract pub goers but in future I would avoid the food

I had fish and chips service was fast and friendly.....easy for the disabled to move around and disabled toilet available.i really like the refills of tea and coffee ... so much better than other places that give you 1 teabag in a tiny teapot 🫖

Wonderful Pubs for breakfast or wine 😇

I regularly have breakfast here. Unfortunately, it's nearly always cold when I get it. Shame really as it's the only bad thing.

Family group traveled by tram to East Didsbury and called into the pub for something to eat and drink. The food was great and reasonably priced. I recommend if you do travel to East Didsbury or nearby to visit for your hunger and thirst requirements.

Friendly staff, great coffee, and breakfast. A useful place to work or meet.

Came today for lunch with my mother in law. My mother In law had pudding chips peas and gravy and she absolutely loved it. I had a chicken burger and chips it was nice but the chicken burger was frozen and wasn’t the best burger I’ve had but wasn’t the worst. I would definitly return however would pick something different off the menu next time

The staff here all need replacing. They're very rude and fed up with their jobs and cannot handle the work that's expected of them. The chap with a beard is very rude and needs a good month if customer service. Hannah is great

Lovely food. Friendly staff. All areas were clean and tidy. Good prices and choice of food was excellent. We go often and are always happy with the food and service.

Went in for food and drinks and to say the least the food was awful. The burger had literally two small cubes of red onion. The sauce must of been on rations cause there was not a lot of it! The chips was refried and not edible. The chick wings was different. There was one the size of knuckle! What is the point in that. When the food arrived at the table. It was clear we wasn’t happy with it. And even commented what is that! But the server clearly didn’t care. None came back over to see if the meal was ok or if we needed anything which is standard etiquette for a restaurant.

I have been a regular at this pub with a visit at least twice a week since it opened. A good pint was always the main attraction but for the last 4 visits the real ale has been really bad, flat, off, or cloudy. Tonight it was really bad I am going to give this place a miss from now on

Was visiting for a business meeting with a friend we go to the bar and the young girl was making a table order the manager at the time came behind the bar and started talking to the girl in regards to yesterday's mystery customer by this point I have still not been acknowledged and have been at the bar for 2 min he then starts to go threw the report with her and they get in to a full conversation about the report after 6 min she finishes the order for the table then asks us wat we want no sorry for your wait wakst may manager Rudely stopped me from doing my job it was a good job I was not a Mystery customer as it would have been an instant fail

Been here twice recently and both times the staff were excellent and the food was very good and very tasty served quickly and I was very impressed with service well done

Been a regular here for about 15 years but recently I have found that the bouncers are now running the place. Before last orders they are telling people they need to be out in ten minutes so no drinking up time and if you comment you will be barred. Used to be a good pub but gone downhill recently. Not a good night anymore.

Came here in March, got the table number order wrong on the app so when food hadn’t come for half an hour went to let them know and they told me they’d taken food to the other table, no one claimed it so they threw it away. So I assume since I payed 15+ quid for everything I’ll get another meal or at least refund, the waiter told me it’s my own fault very sarcastically and walked off. Another woman I think the manager was practically yelling at me at one point and I was point blank refused any refund or new meal. They were happy to just take my money. I know I made a mistake on the app but customer service you’d just give another meal or at least discount the next. Disgusting attitude and I left crying after a long week working in a busy and gruelling healthcare job.

This has to be worst of ‘spoons to eat in. Yes we know it’s just a spoon s, so what you pay for is what you get. Yes we know you’re all very busy, but the lack of quality and rudeness of staff goes beyond those weak excuses. Two breakfasts ordered on a busy Saturday arrived cold (not warm - cold) with scraps of bacon dried to a crisp and when we returned them, the surly staff member replied ‘what is it you want?’ A hot breakfast was the reply!! Like I say, you don’t expect 4 star from any spoons, but you do expect something edible and an inch of customer service!

Use to go in gateway 20yrs ago well what a change for the worst would not recommend and not going again the weather spoons in stockport is much better

So four years later I went back and even by wetherspoons standards this place is abysmal. Staff could not care less if they tried, dirty glasses and cutlery, 45 minute wait for a basic grill meal to be slung on the table with "we're busy mate, tough" as a reply to why it took so long. I live 5 minutes away from this dump but will never use it again. I only gave a 1 rating because you can't give zero.

One a few visits here in May, this on the Monday right at the end. Some drinks are slightly reduced on Mondays, and on this occasion there was a manager's special of fish and chips at £4.99p. Three of us ordered this. We were each served with a huge juicy fillet in lovely crisp golden brown batter, good chips (but not quite their usual brilliant best) and in my case garden peas, which were more like petits pois. Service was very good. A good selection of real ale available, now with Abbot back after the beer festival. Most pubs are deserted on Mondays, but the Gateway was fairly busy suggesting it is more popular than most.

Dirty tables and staff very unhelpful. Steak came with just chips and when I asked whether it came with anything else I was bluntly told no and no thought of asking me what I wanted or if I was happy with meal. Left completely disappointed

Ordered 2 hot and spicy chicken meals and a child’s pizza meal. The hot and spicy chicken came in lemon and herb. And the chips were freezing cold wouldn’t even say warm. Worst spoons I’ve ever been to. Went for breakfast a few weeks ago it wasn’t great either but gave the benefit of the doubt and went back this time for dinner but dinner food was actually worse.

Visited the Gateway last saturday, beer was excellent as always but the cleanliness was poor and the food order was served without the chilli sauce for the Halloumi style fries .At no time from sitting down until we left [about 2 1/2 hrs ]was the table wiped and there was no checkback on the food

First and last time I will ever go to this place. I ordered the chicken pasta it was absolutely vile I’ve never tasted anything like it. I complained but the waiter wasn’t interested at all to be honest he looked like he’d just been dragged out of bed. The pub is very dated inside and needs a deep thorough clean the whole experience was awful.

The Gateway is a typical Wetherspoons pub. The drinks are very cheap but the pub is drab and lacking in atmosphere and the standards of hygiene are below average.

El joven camarero fue muy educado, inteligente y eficiente. A couple of drinks before the nearby khandoker restaurant... ELLIE served us and was lovely, promt and sociable... Fantastic service. Went for a curry over the road and came back a hour later, ellie remembered our order which i found a great touch as so many ppl come thru this busy spoons.

Spent the weekend in the area, and this was our 3rd visit to the gateway and last, ordered traditional breakfast, which I found a 10inch hair in, reported it to the bar staff, who just said "oh" no apologies, no offer of a replacement or refund.Refund given after 10 minutes when I asked to speak to the manager.Kitchen staff wearing baseball caps with pony tails hanging out, watering staff have have no hair nets, so if your end up with hairy food, you Know why, Service, 1out of 10.

I enjoyed the curry which was a chicken korma but when id got down to the bottom of the dish holding the curry there was a piece of plastic in it i duly took it back to the bar and explained to the bar girl she took it away i received no apology not impressed will not eat here again

I came here a couple of weeks ago and i ordered mashed potato with sausages only to find out that there wasnt any. I then ordered a pizza. My friends food came within 10 minutes.I asked the waiter about myfood, and he said 'shut up, its coming, now sit dwon and be quiet'. I was gobsmacked. I then complained to the manager and he shrugged his shoulders. The pizza came and it was like turkish ravioli. Did not look like a pizza at all. I was astonished.

I went here for a last minute birthday celebration with a small group of friends.Not having a smart phone to run the 'spoons app I ordered at the bar. The bar tender took care to get my order correct - did I want the bacon with cheese? the large or small side order of onion rings?The food arrived promptly and was warm rather than hot.My pudding, which I ordered later in the evenin, at about 10 pm, also arrived promptly.The food was nothing special. It was ok for the price. I would eat there again if the opportunity arose and I was looking for something cheapish and reliable.

I visited yesterday morning for breakfast with my sons, niece & her baby. The 3 adults ordered the large breakfast but I decided to go for the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. I also ordered a decaf tea as they don't serve decaf lattes, cappuccinos etc. 10 mins after ordering, the staff member told me they had no decaf tea and offered me a refund or a Pepsi! I opted for a refund. The food arrived and I ate the first mouthful of pancake and found it to be only slightly warm. The second mouthful included bacon which was stone cold - as if it had come straight out of the fridge. I sent it back and waited... and waited for my breakfast to arrive. But it didn't! The other 3 had finished their large breakfasts (also including cold bacon) and the baby was getting restless so we ended up leaving without me having anything to eat or drink. I wasn't expecting haute cuisine but am disappointed at how poor it was. I won't be going back.

Went with a friend. We had a student discount book, which made it even better value (his [masters] degree certificate really did arrive later that morning, meaning this was his last meal as a student).Even the standard breakfast is ample and really well cheffed. The beans now come in a little pot and of course there are all the sauces and condiments one might wish for, Bottomless fresh coffee for a pittance, you really can't go wrong. We went back in the evening [minus car] as it was still their real ale festival, when my friend enjoyed a good pizza, as well as a few pints of excellent and varied beers.

Pedimos 4 comidas y tuvimos que devolver dos, ya que estaban frías, volvieron 20 minutos más tarde todavía frías y eran los mismos platos que habíamos devuelto. Cuando nos quejamos, el gerente vino a nuestra mesa cuando le dijimos el problema, nos pidió que mantuviéramos la voz baja mientras otras personas disfrutaban de sus comidas. Se negó a devolver el dinero que habíamos pagado por nuestras inmejorables comidas. Esperábamos una hospitalidad mucho mejor que esta.

A perfect place to meet with a group of my international clients. The atmosphere was great, full of elderly people (whom I love). Food was great, beers were great.

La comida es normal, no es mucho más que comidas de microondas glorificadas, sé que obtienes lo que pagas y no cuesta mucho cenar aquí. The Gateway is a typical Wetherspoons. The prices are extremely reasonable but the quality is average. You know what you get with a Wetherspoons and this was like any other Wetherspoons experience. I had Fish and Chips and it was pretty ok. The Real Ale was also pretty good. For the price, this is a decent place. It's not top quality, but it certainly is not bad either. Good for the price.

Husband enjoyed his gallon, very well cooked and plentiful.

Called in for the second week running for dinner. We both ordered the burger, mine was a double, with chips and salad. Getting a drink with the meal brings the cost down. Didnt have to wait long for service and the burgers were quite tasty again. No complaints and overall a good place to eat, drink and meet friends.

Met family here and we all ate. All food arrived piping hot and delicious and it's such great value for money. The drinks menu is wide and again great value. The customer service was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Altho we didn't eat at the gateway a few of us met up at the gateway what a brilliant atmosphere there was the drinks weren't expensive the pub is nicely decorated I would definitely go back there next time to try the food

Este es un pub de weatherspoons y un práctico acceso desde una consulta ocular en optegra, estaba en el camino de regreso a Stoke, un pub bien decorado, me hubiera gustado haber mirado alrededor en busca de una mesa, ya que había un área más cómoda. a la derecha de los retretes, volveré allí cuando vaya por mi primer tratamiento.
