The Garden Deli in Wellingborough

Had a lovely brunch at this deli this morning. Had a lovely baguette with chicken lemon mayo, a nice change from the normal chicken mayo from most delis. Hubby had the naughty one which he finished off with a smile. We both had the white mochas which we enjoyed. Definitely for those with a sweet tooth. We took chocolate cake home and it was also very enjoyable. Service was friendly and efficient We will be returning to sample more of the menu.

Horrified. This establishment does not accept legal tender! CASH, yet have a tip plate for cash. Double standards! Will not support any cashless establishment! Would never go again, nor recommend any establishment that wishes for our country to follow the horrendous lane of China!

Lovely place . But could do with doing few offers for cake and coffee just to make it affordable . Plenty of free parking xx

Ignore everyone that says anything negative about this place. These are stuck up rude customers who have a big ego. The staff are lovely and well mannered who work very hard. The food is amazing and at a good price. Owner is very lovely and looks after her workers well. Highly suggest going there.

Thought i’d give this place ago after visiting them over a year ago and not having a great experience. Sadly, I have to say nothing has changed. There were a few new faces, however the same old lady with short grey hair was extremely rude and dismissive. This is the general vibe I get from this café, which is a shame as it made my friends feel very on edge. We could also hear them whispering about us as they were making our breakfast. You would think with the cost-of-living these days, small businesses would appreciate the customers coming through the door! Won’t be returning until the staff have received some customer service training or maybe just some basic manners.

Maddie and the girls run an exceptional deli,food is amazing and very reasonable on the wallet.Our favorite go to eatery in Wellingborough.Ask for the Steve special you won't be disappointed!

Excellent place to eat. Asked for one wrap portion between two and came on two plates. It was plenty. They have the fullest tightest wrapped wraps ever. The dessert options are equally delicious and often huge. Had a box to take half of one home. Nice coffee and polite attentive staff. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

First time here and wow! I loved it! We had an afternoon tea and it was sooo good! The sandwiches where to die fir and cakes just heavenly! I am definitely going back for more! Friendly atmosphere and great service.. highly recommend!!

I think the food is very overpriced for what it is worth and what you get. Card only as well which isn’t helpful in some people’s cases.

I have been here before and loved it but unfortunately this time the service let us down. On arrival the table needed clearing despite being on time. The waitress then spilt a drink over my friend and her bag and although she apologised nothing was checked or offered. The table was half wiped. The drinks and food were swiftly provided and all was lovely however we didn’t see anyone for the rest of the time we were there. We had to ask for a teaspoon and sugar and was given one of each ! Nobody checked if we were ok if we needed refills etc. on paying I asked if some of the tea could be boxed and was advised the boxes are at the end of the counter so do it myself. None of the staff were very friendly and although the food was lovely this put a dampener on my friends bday treat.

We arrived at 2.35 for a coffee and was made to feel very unwelcome. The staff were cleaning so I asked if they were closing. They said they closed at three! One of the women then made reference to having to get cups out of the dishwasher if there were none clean. Made to feel very unwelcome so wouldn’t go back again

We’ve going there years, food is normally good. All of a sudden it’s card only. Won’t bother going ever again. Very disappointing.

Lovely spot for a coffee and cake stop. All the treats looked delicious and the ones we had did not disappoint. The brunches looked good too.

Just a coffee and cheesecake this time. Both delicious. Usual polite attentive service. Lovely courtyard space to sit outside in the sun or shade. Cheesecake and cake portions are large. More than enough to share. Varied selection. All delicious. Excellent place. Fair price. Will return time and time again.

Lovely visit to the Garden Deli!! Visited with friends for brunch and the food was delicious! We were too full to try the delicious looking cakes on displays but they were too irresistible so we took some home instead! Tasted as good as they looked! Staff were very friendly and the outdoor seating areas was a beautiful little sun spot! Will definitely be returning!

First visit since lockdowns. The serving and eating areas have been redesigned and looks more spacious. Lovely new counter made from pallets to complete the rustic feel. Coffee as delicious as ever and the lemon drizzle was tasty and moist and as usual presented well.

Haven’t been for a while. Still a lovely place. Polite and attentive service. Nice atmosphere. Not a lot to select for breakfast. Had the naughty one. Not sure why that name. Should have been poached eggs and bacon on sour dough with side of beans. Poacher broken so eggs scrambled. Two large slices. One would have been enough. Bacon a tad salty and crunchy. Scrambled eggs a little over for my liking. Would go back for cake and coffee as that is splendid. Wouldn’t go back for breakfast.

Although fairly local, we had never been here before. We went in for lunch. Both of us had the chicken and chorizo panini - really delicious. A lovely place to stop for a bit of lunch or a coffee. All four is freshly made to order and very nicely presented. The menu asks anyone with a food intolerance to speak to a staff member, who will go through the ingredients with them; it is unclear whether they actually offer alternatives. Would be great to see gluten free options.

I visited the Garden Deli for a take away breakfast with a friend.I had a bacon and poached egg baguette which was served in a box.The bread was fresh, the bacon thin and crispy and the egg cooked just right.It was around £3.50 but it was delicious and well worth a visit!Can’t wait to go there for breakfast again

We have eaten here lots of times, the last time was over 6 months ago and the wait for food was too long, unfortunately today was almost the same, sorry but other places that we eat at get it right, no customer should wait almost 30 mins for a baguette and a wrap!and the coffee was mostly froth and lukewarm

They just do the best coffee I have had in a good while. Their cakes are massive and really nice. Since they have linked up with the Emporium next door they have added a new aspect to their already excellent offer.

This is a great venue for tasty food. The staff are so friendly and special food allergy requests no problem. I love that I can enjoy food and drink, before or after a browse in the adjacent arts and crafts emporium.

It gets very busy in here and it’s easy to see why, the courtyard out the back is a beautiful place to sit for a bite to eat. I’ve read other reviews about the service being slow but as all of the sandwiches are made fresh to order, I don’t think the wait was unreasonable. The cakes are absolutely to die and the fact that it’s busy can only mean one thing, the standard on the whole is very high and I’d recommend The Garden Deli to anyone.

This place is seriously awesome. Fantastic atmosphere, excellent food, second to none for customer service. Freshly cooked food to order, so yes you do have to wait for the food to cook! Ps try the lime and coriander chicken baguette 😍

Had heard the coffee was good here popped in with a friend who had come down from the North. Excellent coffee and a toastie sandwich.Nicely presented and hot. Just a bit slow in serving so coffee was nearly gone.Lovely atmosphere have spread the word and been back twice more ☕️

Ordered cheesecake and coffee. Coffee drank and no sign of cheesecake after 20 minutes. It was busy but they need to have a better system going.

After reading reviews we decided to have breakfast one Sunday morning. You have to order your food at the till and pay before you dine plus decide if you want sauces on your chosen dish. I ordered a bacon bagette with and a cappuccino, my partner ordered a toasted brie & chilli melt with a cuppuccino. The drinks arrived but 25 minutes no sign of food. When my bagette arrived it was toasted, who toasts a bagette without asking the customer first?? people who serve stale bread.. Both ends had not been toasted so were uneatable and the bacon was no where near any quality & over-cooked. The meal arrived with a salad garnish and crisps, I having breakfast so why would I like a salad & crisps!! maybe onions & mushrooms would have been more acceptable. The very long wait for food was unacceptable considering there was only 4 customers to 5 staff. This is purely my own opinion but unfortunately we, family & friends will not be coming back.

Staff are very polite and patient when ordering food. I would like to see menus on the table and also tables a little higher for the elderly as i have seen a few people eating on their laps which is not good. However.. the food is lovely.. prompt, clean, tidy, well presented and a nice location.

We stopped in for a late lunch so it really wasn’t all that busy, maybe 3 tables including us. Nevertheless , it took 25 minutes for our sandwiches to be made, despite there being about 4 staff there. Then, they gave my mom the wrong sandwich so another poor lady had to wait even longer to have a new one made for her. The sandwich itself was ok, but the most disappointing part were the “”sides.” The salad was dressed with just oil, which I found a bit gross, and they gave each of us 5 crisps, and they weren’t even whole ones, which I think is just cheap. Don’t think we’ll be back.

Visited a few times now, once with family and the other for a work meeting, thoroughly enjoyed both visits with an amazing selection of cakes and coffee, didn’t stay for lunch but the menu had lots of choices and very glad to hear they will be opening a second shop!

Excellent quality and service along with good value. Just had a breakfast croissant with bacon brie, tomatoes and onion. Delicious. I was expecting just the croissant and was surprised that it came beautifully presented with a side salad. Polite, friendly staff. Nice atmosphere, nice place.

Had heard a lot about this place and passing one day called in, greeting was friendly and welcoming. Good choice of food, coffees etc and having made our choice we retired to the garden area. After about 10 minutes the first coffee arrived, followed by the second 5 minutes later. Our food arrived (together) after a further 10 minutes or so. No complaints about the quality, quantity or the price all excellent value.

We have just visited the Garden Deli for afternoon tea ! What a wonderful place the food was amazing we had so much I had to bring a goody bag home with me ! And the staff were so friendly . We will definitely be going back . The cakes were the best .... thank you to all your lovely staff !

I’ve just visited the Garden Deli for the first time. What a gem!! I can honestly say the Caesar Salad was the tastiest I have ever had. The staff are welcoming. There’s a large seating area outside. Quite a few inside too. Lovely place which I will definitely revisit.

This was my 3rd visit here and sorry to say the service does not get any better! Have been sitting here nearly half an hour, coffee long since drank and no sign of our paninis. You need to speed up or tell customers how long they can expect to wait!!!

The food is always freshly prepared. The cakes just draw you in, they both look and taste amazing. It’s always busy, but not too much so. Staff are always pleased to see you and happy to serve 😊

Came here with a friend for a last minute lunch stop we were told the food wait was 45 minutes but with little else near by we waited wish we hadn't as the 45 minutes turned to an hour however there seemed to be few other orders before us. We sat in the garden and were bombarded by flying ants and wasps who were attracted to the uncleared tables.

Delicious! Would highly recommend. Nene Court is lovely for a wander round too. I will definitely be returning

Great little coffee/café/friendly place to get a good bite to eat, excellent service reasonable prices.

Visited today at the end of our shopping trip. Service was poor and slow. The girl who served us didn't appear interested and told us there was a wait for food before she'd even asked us what we'd like. We proceeded to wait ten minutes before two cakes arrived. To make matters worse the girl who could have served the cakes straight away, walked past us and proceeded to eat her own lunch at a table. When the cakes did arrive both were dry and not worth the £3.50 we paid. Disappointed, as this place is clearly capable of better.

Years ago this place used to be a nice cafe. The staff now chat amongst themselves while I waited to be served, the table was uncleared and dirty. One girls long dark hair was all over the place and not tied up, this is supposed to be a cafe! The food which used to be good now seems to be smaller portions, slow service, and the cake I had was dry and stale. Their customer service needs an urgent shake up as it’s sadly lacking, and better food. Overpriced and I will be going elsewhere in future.

Popped in here whilst shopping. Staff helpful and explained which items I could have as a Gluten Free choice. When ordering the food they told us that there was about a 30 minute wait. You really don’t mind waiting if someone tells you..

Like to go every other week with my wife. We have baguettes made to measure with a frothy chai latte. Cant get better and it starts the weekend off really well.

Had a great baguette for lunch and served with a smile. Comfy and cosy. Definitely worth a visit. A little of the beaten track but worth it.

Lovely cafe for a meet up with friends. Food is delicious especially the home made cakes. The wraps and panini are tasty too. Staff very friendly and helpful. My favourite place to go for coffee and cake.

I reviewed back in October when the coffee was truly dreadful on our visit. Having been back now, I can report a huge improvement in the coffee. Hurray!! Cakes delicious too.

My wife and I visit the deli once or twice a week because the coffee is great and they do a really good bacon roll and of course the the staff are top rate they make everyone feel welcome, nothing is to much trouble. Keep up the good work!

Good food and atmosphere, however, despite 5 staff serving and it was not busy we waited 25 mins to be served with a pot of tea, flat white and a slice of cake. Staff were happily chatting amongst themselves seemingly oblivious to the customers. We only had 45 mins which ordinarily should be enough time for a refuel and our order only arrived after prompting.....

Lunch out with the parents, and the staff were willing to change their menu to suit my mums dietary needs. The food was smashing, tasty and well presented and reasonable for the price. We will definitely be coming back.

Had a mothers day afternoon tea treat here and an enjoyable experience it was. Everything hand prepared/baked with no pretentious, fancy delicacies. All good wholehearted fare.

Really lovely and very well priced afternoon tea. The sandwiches were very nice but the sweet elements were d-i-v-i-n-e. In particular the millionaires shortbread and the tiffin were lovely!

Visited twice this week as I have been on annual leave, enjoyed a delicious panini and coffee on Tuesday . Today I had coffee and cake with my son the cake was absolutely delicious one of the best I have eaten anywhere . The coffee was also good and stayed nice and hot .

This is my go to cafe whenever I am in Wellingborough. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the food is delicious, home-made and fresh. The coffee is really good too!

I took my husband for lunch on his birthday and the food was fantastic. The staff were lovely, nice & friendly and the cake was DELISHOUS!!!!

Came for a baby shower. We had a room that we were able to decorate and make personal. We had tea/coffee and cake. Special thanks to Maddi for help with the organising. The cakes were amazing, thank you.

Today I went to Garden Deli lunch time with my friend to have something to drink. We ordered an earl grey tea and a babycino for myself.

I have been here many times to meet friends. The staff are always friendly and the food is freshly prepared. Would definitely recommend it!

I had the smoked salmon, smashed avocado with a poached egg door stop truly fantastic! Great fresh bread and truly filling. I love this place The little shopping village it's in is well worth a visit. Friendly staff and decent prices.

A lovely place for a coffee and cake or sandwich lunch. Nice ambience and most amazing cakes and sandwich selection. Service excellent. All cakes made on location so beautifully fresh. A relaxing place to sit and chat and mooch around the attached shop. A very nice independent place to go to on a sunny or rainy day. This is our third or forth visit and I couldn’t recommend enough.

I sat outside in the sunshine today drinking coffee and eating a sandwich. The sandwich was freshly made and very tasty indeed. Coffee was excellent too. Good value for money. Would definitely go again next time I'm in the area.

The coffee here used to be fantastic. It’s gone wildly downhill....please reinstate your formerly terrific coffee!

Met an old friend for lunch and advised to give this place a go, so glad we did it was an absolute treat, staff were friendly and the food was possibly one of the best lunches we have had, because of this we have decided to make this our go to place when meeting for a catch up,

Asked for the loaded breakfast as it said an egg on the menu I asked for an extra one.

Went in expecting a quick lunch break meal, was told the wait would be 20-25 mins max. ended up waiting 45 minutes for a simple chicken wrap... disappointed as it left me rushed and hungry with my lunch in a takeaway box. The staff were not apologetic or understanding of the situation and merely looked unphased by the problems that they had caused me.

We visited the the Garden Deli for some lunch on a Tuesday with my mother in law. It was busy and we had to wait for a spot to sit which was on a comfy couch out in the emporium section. We all had to wait a bit for our meals as they were flat out but enjoyed our drinks while we waited. The food was fresh and tasty and worth the wait.

Had lunch with my daughter today. Lovely atmosphere and great food. The sun was out, what more could i ask for.

The Garden Deli was recommended by a couple of friends so I did a little research. Liked the look and sound of it so contacted Maddie about a lunch for some of my family, and we can be a fickle bunch when it comes to finding somewhere that has food for all of us, including two under 5s and gluten free requirements. Maddie was so warm and welcoming and gave the impression nothing was too much trouble so I booked a table for six. She suggested that she see what the weather was like on the day before deciding whether to reserve a table inside or in the garden area, so thoughtful. On the day I rang to ask if one more could be added and that was fine too. The welcome was warm and friendly, the staff all lovely, efficient and helpful too. The food was amazing, everything freshly prepared and we were able to customise our food from the wonderful range of food on offer. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. The cakes were all delicious. There was plenty of choice for each of us and we can’t wait to go back. A huge thank you to Maddie and her team for such an enjoyable, relaxed and tasty experience.

The garden deli is amazing, the food has been great every time I have gone there. The hot drinks are made to perfection with a temperature just right to drink right away. And for the staff, they are wonderful and are always smiley giving a great warming welcome as you first step in, as well as assuring your time at the deli is enjoying and only reaching the highest of standards. The cold drinks are absolutely gorgeous and are a great refreshing drink for the hot weather. I recommend anyone to go here if they ever get the chance x
