The Galley Lisburn in Lisburn

Waited 2 hours on delivery. When I rang to see how much longer it would be the staff weren’t very helpful. Food arrived very cold. Will not be getting from here again.

Ordered fish and chips with a curry sauce. Half of fish was so thin, the batter was over fried and rock hard. The other half was normal in thickness, and batter on this was soggy. Portion was small. It was as if they divided a fillet obliquely in 2. Chips were just ok. A total waste of a staggering £12.50. Phoned restaurant to complain, but wasn’t offered refund. Won’t be back.

Ordered 2 large chips for £8 and had to wait over 30 minutes for them. Once we got home, turns out they gave us 1 “large” chip and another which looked like the scraps of another order. Won’t be visiting again any time soon.

Local chippie serving the traditional fare found in this type of establishment. Sit in or takeaway. The ordering system may be a little chaotic at busy times, possibly due to staff competence issues. In general though, the food is of an acceptable standard, especially if one is hungry! Cold drinks dispenser, toilets and free street parking.

Great chips, big portions, good prices

It is on of the best restaurants in lisburn.

I discovered this chippy not long ago and have been very happy with the food and the service each time I've been in. Staff are friendly and have a great sense of humour. Food is top notch each and every time 💪

Missing food items. Requested no salt etc and 5 orders of chips and sausages where smothered in salt.

I stopped for a sit down meal. Had been here before but noticed a twang of something the last time Same twang of the fish and battered sausage this time. Must be the oil. My haddock was mostly batter and the sausage had a sour taste. I ate them anyway. The mountains of chips and toppings served to others was obscene. Lots of stuff wasted and uneaten. About 8 workers milling around till, cooking, preparing orders as it was so busy. It's a very average chippy with no finesse and there are a couple of better sit downs in Lisburn. I may go back later but I certainly will not rush it. Staff are quite friendly. Tables were dirty, chips on floor and no one cleaning as emphasis is on carry outs.

Staff are very friendly. The food is what you would expect from a good Chippy. The portion sizes are amazing... The prices are responsible too. The Kebab on Chip is HUGE!!! Well worth it.

Asked for battered sausages, got goujons instead and the chips were old. Although delivery was fast just wasn’t as fresh.

Galley used to have lovely food but I had heard from lots of people that it had went majorly downhill. They were right. Ordered a chicken burger to take away and it was pink and raw inside. Only took a few bites and had to bin it. What a waste of money not to mention potential food posoining. Won't be back.

Excellent food served by excellent staff. Well worth our journey from Belfast. Has become our favourite place to eat in Lisburn. Keep up the good work. Very highly recommended.

Good food. Lots of fish. This page could be fantastic if they made their own tarter sauce. Give it some flare and flavor. Instead it's just a pack of mayonnaise.

Food was great ,but tried to ring my order in and the phone was answered but I was left on hold for 5mins after which I hung up and tried again then the phone just rang out.

It's a fish and chip shop with huge portion sizes. The batter on the fish was so light. Excellent!

Chips were soggy and cold. Onion rings were more batter than onion. The curry sauce was the only OK thing.

What a great find when we were going to Belfast, we both had sliced chicken suppers my daughter and I, the chicken sliced on top was like Herrons only taster, lots of chicken, chips and gravy, and a big plate of the most lovely onion rings, just a pity we couldn't finish it, It was a top class feed, staff were friendly and kind to us, we would definitely call again. Thanks for 100% food

Good food only used this place once but I'll be back

I'm not a great fan of take away foods but when it's good it makes a nice treat now and then and the Galley certainly is good.

Ordered dinner for my family which costs £15.10. Yet again my order was not 100% right. 1 of my orders was sausage supper with gravy peas and onions. When i got it home there was no peas. I am writing this as a matter of principle. As an established business small mistakes soon mount up. This isnt my 1st review and id regularly go in for food but now id be put off not spending money there.

Decent portions but not great when my wee girl pulls a piece of wire (seemed to be from a wire brush) from her chip and stuffing with supersauce today there. I got a plain chip weren't crispy neither.

It was better than my last visit

I give this place yet another chance but the same things keep happening. If only the owner would just read all the reviews. Between the women only staff always chatting and getting away with it then over done food (from my last visited review) and to my latest being short changed. It seems the manager needs to be put out as a new manager wouldnt tolerate this at all. Grantes when the food is done right it tastes amazing but the gossiping is very off putting.

This was just a really badly cooked and cheap ingredient meal. Will definitely not be back. Try Sam’s instead (it was closed hence why we tried Galley).

Excellent, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection, staff very helpful.

Haven’t been here for years and now I remember why. Ordered a cod supper - what was delivered was overcooked, greasy and tasteless. Disappointing when you’ve paid more that £10 for a fish supper. Won’t be back - need to try harder folks.

Had the gougons and chips, mate had sausage and chips spot on , not too dear, staff very pleasent would reccomend 👍😎⭐

Always wanted to try The Galley Lisburn and now we have we wouldn’t go back. Ordered fish and chip, chicken fillet burger and double steak burger and chip. With a tub of curry sauce. The fish was tasteless, soggy batter and very greasy. Chips also very greasy.

We ordered for a family of 4 tonight - 2 chicken burgers, large chip, kids burger meal, sausages & chicken nuggets. We all agreed it was the worst chippy we've ever had - all 4 of us! Wish I'd taken a photo of the food before we binned it, absolutely stinking & covered in grease. This place used to be lovely but wouldn't be back after tonight's rotten offering. I could understand if part of the order wasn't nice but no excuse for the whole order to be so horrible.

I used to eat out of here on a regular basis but my last visit was below a rating. I ordered a fish supper and the fish was well over done and swimming in grease i took it back and all i got was a lame excuse. Some of the staff need sacked for sure all they do is gossip. Only good thing is the sunday dinners are to die for other than that id never eat out of there. Walking into the shop is like a disco loud music and no way anyone can hear themselves. Very off putting.

Got Takeaway for the family via their App. Great food and milkshakes. Fish and Taco mince chip was especially excellent.

Yet again on 3 separate occasion my order gets took wrong. Most recently was today. I ordered a chicken burger with cheese and bacon. But somehow I ended up with brown sauce over it . Problem is we drive 8 mile each way to get this so don't see it until we get home. Yes I know we should check items but come on how hard is it to answer a phone take details and pass it on? Staff need to listen as this had happened to us 3 time now. Or move the phone were they can hear peoples orders correctly. So now I am left with no lunch again as I cant be arsed going back in with wrong order thanks once again neil

This chippy has been my local since I moved to Lisburn in 2013. Have never went to another chippy, because this place is fantastic. Especially during lockdown. Ordering online was so easy, with the option to pickup, which we normally do, or deliver. Tonight we had our usual weekend order delivered instead- the best curry chip and fish supper! You can’t beat The Galley! Could prob take out shares in the place now I order so often!! The girls who work there are great, always smiling and great customer service.

Started going here when it first opened and was fairly impressed for a while, then the standards slipped and I stopped going.Years later im trying it again but it's so hit or miss, sometimes very nice, other times not worth the bother, this however is the case with all chippies in Lisburn.I don't know whether the staff just don't care or can't tell the difference between good and very very average.

Usually get good grub here but this Sunday night was below par.The price of £4.95 I reckon is extreme and dearest around I am aware about.The fish itself seemed large but it was covered in shrivelled over done batter. Lots of grease and water ran out into tray. I reckon it was fried too quickly in too hot oil.They have done away with their seating,so bang goes my relaxing fish and tea.They were extremely busy with take aways,so it is popular. I just hit a below par meal tonight.From past experience of The Galley here and in Armagh City I do recommend it.

Went to the shop yesterday evening on my way home from work, no signage to say which way they were operating at the moment, stood at the counter for nearly 5 minutes, staff never even looked in my direction. Then noticed a lady stood in the door way behind me waiting to enter the shop so I moved to one side and stood in what appeared to be a queue. The staff then took an order from the lady who had just arrived and continued to ignore me, so I left the shop and will never return.Service was absolutely the worst I have ever come across, not recommended, not good.

Don’t get me wrong - the food is really good and can’t fault it! The chicken goujons are my favourite. However, I feel intimidated when I come into the shop as some of the staff are not overally friendly. I now just order on the app and have it delivered so I don’t have to feel like I’m bothering them in store. Other than that, it’s really good!

Visited with husband and two young kids. Kids meals were huge, they could easily have shared one between them. I had a chicken gouging wrap, which tasty and had a few chips on the side. Husband had fish and chips and struggled to finish his. Staff were very friendly.

Easy enough to pop off the M1 motorway to visit The Galley if you do not live locally.I plumped for a single cod and they asked if I wanted peas,or side salad,but I plumped for beans only.The fish was superb and a good size. Takes about 8 minutes to cook from fresh. Well worth the wait.The place got very busy with carry out customers.Sit in closes at 9pm,so be mindful.The meal cost me just 5.00 stg.Give it a try.

In today getting lunch. The food as usual was fantastic. Was not impressed to see a customer Vaping the whole time he was waiting for his order. Mentioned to one of the staff but she couldn't say if this was allowed. I do not want to smell vapour as I am eating.

Great wee chippy, either for takeaway or sit in. Portions are fantastic and the cod is second to none.

We were a bit surprised that cod was the only fish on offer but we couldnt complain about the size of the fish or the crispiness of the batter. What The Galley lacks in terms of fish options in makes up for with every other conceivable fish shop offering!We had a sit-down supper and thoroughly enjoyed the bustling atmosphere and the good natured banter.

Great chippy with very friendly staff. Food comes out very quick and it’s nice to sit in and enjoy it. Menu is very varied, fish and chips gorgeous but go hungry as the portions are massive. Parking at the door too!

We visited on a cold Wednesday night...the staff were very welcoming and the food was lovely.I had need stronganoff and rice..a dish I haven't had I years..my friends had haddock and chicken and weren't disappointed...we will be back!

Food is good but cold need to employ another delivery driver to meet their needs could be busier if they had the riight staff to accommodate their customers.

Family of four for sit in dinner on New Years Night. Although both the take out and sit in were busy, service was fast and efficient as usual. Food was amazing and everyone enjoyed. Happy to make any changes to your order to suit you. Will be back soon

Toral all rounder all of us love this chippy we travel 20 miles once a month and treat ourselves kids love it we have tasted nearly everyon the menu and highly recommend it, I personally love the fish. The chicken kebab Breast meal is amazing they sell a chicken gravy and it’s sooooo good. Portions really good, very friendly staff, highly recommend keep up the good work guys 5*

Stopped off for a burger and coffee. This is a very busy chippy.

Fish overdone as most chippies here and no choice of fish. cod or cod or cod when will chippies give customers a choice like whiting or haddock etc

The senior fish supper is what we chose for about 5 pounds. This included twice as much food as we needed as well as tea or coffee. It was definitely great value for money. The whole restaurant is very clean and the staff friendly and helpful.

Having tried a few different places in the local area I can safely say this is the best. Friendly service and AMAZING chips. I also love that you can order via their app!

I was coming from the airport, and decided to get food. It was Sunday, and the shop wasn't opened, but the staff allowed me to order my meal, and wait inside! Even though I was an hour early. Superb service and great food , ten out of ten , The best I have found in my town.

Like many people, I am a fan of the Galley. Consistently high standard of food, coupled with a professional appreciation of the importance of cleanliness, makes this a reliably good chippy.

We regularly buy from here. The galley burger or galley wrap are worth trying...if you have a big appetite! Great chippy not greasy and portion sizes are good too. I would definitely recommend here. Sitting in or takeaway.

Me and my family visit this shop weekly. The fish is always massive, well cooked & staff are friendly! Well worth the price. Burgers from here are always lovely too.

Lovely fresh fish with great batter. Good size portions and friendly staff with a proper pot of tea. Can't really fault it. Maybe if the opened a larger seated area upstairs it would be even better.

Family visit on Saturday afternoon, was really busy with a steady flow of customers sitting in and taking away, menu is great and what's even better is the mix of your usual chippy food but with some healthy options, kids meals are huge they get plenty, mine got chicken goujons, chips and a drink, I went some something more healthy (!) with a chicken wrap and it was really nice, wife got pastie and enjoyed it, best chippy (shouldn't call it that!) in town

Got fish super and battered sausage super. Staff where great however food was not in my opinion. chips soggy. Fish batter was soggy and sausage batter soggy.

Ordered fish and chips carry out and both were awful. The fish was soggy and tasteless and the chips were as bad. I only live 15 minutes away so it was nothing to do with the time it took to get them home. I've had from there before and it hasn't been bad but never again will it be their fish and chips to go.

Food is excellent. Portions are massive. Reasonable priced and staff are good crac. Would recommend the battered sausages and the Galley wrap. Best in Lisburn.

Probamos un par de veces y sólo se puede calificar como normal, probablemente lo único bueno eran las patatas fritas. Pescado bien, pero mejor siempre gruesas y correosos, y pasty como todo ser recién preparada no lo es. Gambas congeladas y frito crumbed inedibleeven mucho...

Después de haber probado muchos chippies en Lisburn durante los años que había sido escéptico sobre el galley debido a probar cocina julie es ser en la misma unidad anteriormente (me gustó el lugar). Sin embargo, mi padre nos recomendó el lugar y no me decepcionó; pescado excelente y patatas fritas muy sabrosas. Más caro que algunas de las otras tiendas chip pero vale la pena.

Having hearing this place was worth a try,I did exactly that but we weren't fussed at all.The pale white chips while may be to some peoples liking,I'd prefer them to be fried a bit longer but the thing I disliked the most was the better on my fish,it was soft and soggy,again others may prefer that way but for me the better should be at least a little bit crispy.The potions were of good size but for me it was quantity over quality.

Having been in the Armagh Galley we thought we will try here on Easter Monday.First impressions it's cramped. The counters and pans run full length on the right side whilst on the left side run padded benches with small tables and chairs squeezed in the middle.Staff were prompt. I ordered a fish and beans and later a battered sausage whilst my friend ordered the scampi meal. My fish was the usual good Galley standard. The sausage a little overdone. Beans very small portionMy friends scampi was shrivelled up and really over fryed. A large portion of chips were fine.The staff were good craic and friendly. Meals were let down by over cooked items. I will go back but my friend will not.

Lovely clean restaurant good old fashioned fish and chips though fish could have been cooked a bit longer to make it more crisper.

we would have fish & chips once or twice a month from the galley, its definately one of the top chip shops in lisburn if not Northern Ireland, great food and great value, we will keep on coming back.

Top quality and service.Every thing seems to be cooked fresh. Because of this it is a very busy carry - out BUT I have never had to wait an unacceptable length of time. A good range of food although I have difficulty going past the fish which is excellent. The pasties are pretty good too!

This is my local chippy, and I have to say the food is great! Fresh, tasty, my daughter loves the cheese burgers. You can't go wrong with a Galley takeaway.

Living in the neighbourhood and having listened to good and bad reports I decided to give it a try. In fairness when I called to night service was busy. After waiting 10 mins I ordered battered sausage supper. Waited approx 30 mins. This is probably the worst chip shop meal I have ever had. The chips were under cooked to the extent of being a mushy mess. The batter on the sausages was split and soggy. In summary the tables in the shop were stacked with dirty plates as customers had left, should have taken this as a omen. Others do it better.

Well I kept my word and went back to try the galley again! This time staff were very professional and I have to say, probably the best chip shop around? Lovely! Keep up the good work!

We have been here a couple of times now and we will be back. On both occasions the chips were excellent as was the cod even if I do prefer haddock which isn't available.

I visited the galley today for the first time. I must say the food is lovely. I ordered chicken goujons and chips. I was extremely disappointed to find that you do not get a dip with your goujons. I was also enraged when my chips were packaged up and no one had asked me did I want salt and vinegar on them. The food was nice but bland without the salt and vinegar. I must say that my experience was ruined. It is also normal to be offered a selection of dips with a portion of chicken goujons! I will try this place again as the food is nice but better service please!

Having eaten in the Armagh branch of this chippy many times I knew it would be excellent. The fresh fish is probably in the top 3 in the country. Chicken goujons and the Galley wrap also very good. The chips are great and portions are the biggest you will find. Share a chip with the kids or those with smaller appetite. Highly recommend.

I have eaten in this new chippy a few times since opening. It is by far the best Fish & Chip shop in LIsburn. The fish and chicken fillet burgers are amazing with very generous portions. A welcome addition to Lisburn. Would also recommend the 'Galley wrap'.
