Staff were very pleasant (thus the 2-star rating), but the fish batter was soggy, somewhat like an oily rag, and chips not much better. Love to support local business, but will not be back again.

Staff friendly and helpful. Food portion small, meat seems to be lowest quality, none of us finished it would not return.

I am sorry to say but our fish and chips we didn't enjoy .I love chunky chips but got so many wee ends and the better of the fish was so soggy . would not go back .

The custom I receive every time I go to the frying squad in balloo is always incredible. You get served with a friendly smile each time. The quality of the food is so high with generous portions. The lunch time deals are my favourite as you get so much at a great price.

£6.20 for a very average sized Sausage Supper ? Up until recently it was a more reasonable £5.20. Now it's the most expensive in town ! Not to be recommended.

The branch 'seems to be' under new management. On my last visit 3 gentlemen were on duty, whereas for a long time there has been an all-female staff. The chip portions are thankfully back to normal. There are several meal-deals on display at varying prices. What this branch has really needed for some time , is a large, itemised menu & price list on display. Otherwise, keep up the good work chaps !

I got an email from this company with a Christmas offer of two large fish suppers and side for £12, but when I went in to order i was told by the girl at the till that she had just found out about this offer and that the boss hadn't told her about it. I was told the till wasn't set up for this promotion and that they couldn't honor the promotional email I had been sent. This is a total con job just to get customers in, never again, everytime I go here there's some issue. I would not recommend very dishonest company

Very disappointed ! Cod supper not Worth £7 25 ! Hardly any chips !placed order over the phone 20 min ! When picked up in fifteen min is wasn't hot at all !

Seems there hasn’t been review in a while. Can’t say anything bad lovely fish not greasy chips great gougons were thick strips of chicken very tender sausage supper fish suppers and chicken fillet burger was what we ordered and it was grand! At the end of the day it’s a chippy not Gordon Ramsay’s!!!

The quality of the Cod was good but was overcooked and burnt. Chips were good but the portion size was absolutely shocking! Definitely not good value for money.

Takeaway for 6 - we had battered sausage and pastie suppers as well as pastie baps. Battered on sausages nice and crisp and chips tasted good too. Pastie baps also get a thumbs up from someone who's eaten a few pasties in his day.

Called in tonight for a couple of cod suppers,don’t know what’s happened new owners? Extreme portion control? Not sure,fish was really small and they must have scooped the chips on with a teaspoon😡 got £2 discount for ordering 2 *cough* Dinners if I’m honest I’d rather they had kept the £2 and gave me a few extra chips Gone downhill rapido!!

Relatively expensive food which isn’t all that great. No phone orders after 4 (seems ridiculous) and training certificates which at a glance are over 9+ years old.

Order a burger and chip, burger looked awful. Minimal effort, looked like cheap iceland burger meat on a bap.

We use this chippy on a regular basis and I have to say no matter what I have tried from it it’s always tasty.

Called in today at lunch time to get a fish supper, i haven't been for years but thought i would give it another go, only wish i had driven on.After waiting aprox 18 minutes i received my fish supper and took it home, i was very disappointed when i opened it up, the fish was as thin as you could get i near enough felt sorry for it and only received 40 chips, talk about measly.The fish batter was very soggy and sloppy, just wasn't nice at all although the chips where nice just not very many.I would not recomend this chippy to anyone

I use this takeaway in preference to any other when I come to this part of the country.

I wouldn't be a regular, but anytime I've visited, the food has been excellent. The staff are friendly & efficient and orders are always correct. I'd taken out a loyalty card some time ago and receive regular promotional information and deals which is always good!

This chip shop always gives yummy food. I travel from the other side of Bangor to get my treat saturday dinner from here. They now have an app too so you can order the food, it provides you with a collection time and you can go pick it up. Saves waiting in the shop for food to cook. My family and I love this chip shop. Best in Bangor and not too dear.

I don’t often buy fish and chips and after the last few times at frying squad I thought this was one of the best in town... until today. Our fish was awful, the batter was thick, soggy and stuck to the paper. The haddock inside was not much better. I think this is the first time three of us pushed the fish to one side of the plate. The chips however, were great- as usual. Unfortunately this is yet another fish and chip shop who cannot maintain the consistency of their standards and quality of food. Disappointing- I’ll not be back.

Last week the same food order was gorgeous, the fish was cooked, its batter dry and crispy, the chips were too.

Good value for money with the buy one supper get an other for £1 .I have bought many times from the frying squad and always cooked to order and from fish .pastie.chips or burger all first class

What a waste of money ! Fish floppy, pale and raw....chicken goujons chewy and not cooked enough. Disgusting , all binned. Please stay away !

I previously did a review complaining about the lack of chips but I have been back again because their food is good especially the fish bites and their burgers yummy and was extremely happy with the good sized scoop of very tasty chips with single itemd

Got my order wrong. But as per usual you don't know until you're all the way home. It got binned in the end as it was dry as a desert. Chippys are everywhere. If you want to be competitive you need to up your game...

Nice food prices good to lots of specials at lunch and tea time eating here quite a few times can see them cooking nice and clean

Pedimos 4 x 2 raciones de salchichas para mis hijos esperando un paquete de patatas fritas de madrugada lo que consigues en cualquier otro "fish and chips" y lo que nos dan! 1 miserable chip pequeño por salchichas en general 8 chips en todas nunca fue destinado a ser una comida principal un aperitivo después de nadar, así que me dieron 8 salchichas y 8 chips por un total de 8 libras. 80 INCREÍBLE.

El servicio era excelente, desde el personal es muy amable, educado la comida era tan sabrosa, no grasienta. Buena parte tamaño y relación calidad-precio estupenda. Además el servicio con una sonrisa 😊

This chip shop is on the outskirts of Bangor. It has good parking, good staff and good food, so it's hard to beat.It can be busy at meal times but it's worth the wait.

Have visit this establishment a number of times to get our fill of fish and chips, and it didn't disappoint on this visit.There's a good range of food on offer - the trick with takeaway is to get it home ASAP and in this regard its handily placed.Will definitely be back!

Went here as it's my regular chippy, over cooked chicken goujons and a small portion at that compared to previous occasions I have had them. My partner had a pastie supper which was OK it must be a smaller portion because it's 2 suppers for 9.99

Possibly the worst potion of scampi I've ever purchased , picture say a thousand words , tiny amount in the box on the left and after being told in the shop they dnt do a small portion of chips I Opted for the only size they do in itself a pretty poor portion ..Portions 2/10Quality of Food 3/10Price 1/10I'll not Go back

Awful!!!! tiny portion and reheated fish which went straight into the bin as batter went like a greasy shell, will never be back, not worth the pound for the second supper which is the offer they are currently doing .....

Good fish and chips plenty of parking and choice. Cooked to order so be prepared to wait. Friendly staff and newspapers to read whilst waiting.

Tucked next to the Centra this is worth a visit for nice juicy burgers and fries or the traditional fish and chips. Quick service, good value menu and friendly helpful staff always a winner on the way home on a Friday evening!

We use TFS occasionally and have never really been disappointed. Always have fish and the quality can vary a bit, depending on who is on the fryer that night. Chips are okay but nothing to rave about. Service can be slow but that's because it seems popular and they cook to order. Can't say that we have found anything better in the area. Value for money.

If you are after gluten free chips then this is one of the few chippys in Bangor that cooks its chips separately to battered and breaded food. We have always found the staff to be very helpful and the food is always freshly cooked.

Chips are more expensive than other chip shops around and got a very small portion of chips. Best go elsewhere.

Ordered over 20 pounds worth no chips with 1 of the suppers food burnt not tasty would not go back not a good experience would not recommend

Decided to try this chip shop as was passing, and seen that they are up for an award. Really wish I hadn't bothered. I ordered a portion of sausages and chips ( a very simple order you would imagine ) and had to wait fifteen minutes before they were ready. The two members of staff didn't seem the know what they were doing and were totally inept. When I finally did get my order the chips were cold! Obviously sitting while the staff figured out how to cook a sausage. I really think that the people of North Down and Ards deserve a good "Chippy" like most of the "Chippies" in Belfast. The Bethany on the Bloomfield Road or Longs or Spences, sorry see what I mean here I could go on and on. Some one should take up the challenge because at the moment there is no competition.

The Fish served is fresh, tasty and most importantly not too oily. Have been back numerous times and would have no hesitation to recommend it to one and all

Simply the best there is in Bangor for fish and chips, really well cooked good grub, not dripping in fat like you get elsewhere. Fast service, decent prices and a great selection.
