Amazing roast dinners. Accommodating to additional requests. Huge portions (and they were happy to box up my 4 yr olds left overs as she said she wanted it the next day too!) Really friendly staff who are good with (very) talkative children!

This is a quaint pub, with a bloody good roast. Staff were friendly, efficient and very accommodating of our (slightly feral) little girls. Fair pricing. Would defo recommend.

We stopped in for lunch at this lovely family run pub set in the village of Hallaton with lovely sunny gardens. The food here is always amazing and can't recommend highly enough. I felt bad that I couldn't quite finish my food due to being so full. Yum yum thanks Maz and his team

Just had Sunday lunch here for the fourth time (in two years) We had the same menu items as on previous visits, too. It's nice (to us anyway) to find the menu's the same, and that the quality's just the same, with the same guy producing the food. Consistency's a nice quality in itself. Our grandson had turkey, we had a vegetarian Brie tart. The accompanying vegetables arrived well cooked without being overcooked, and not overly seasoned/salted. My grandson asked for apple sauce with his turkey, and it was provided without fuss or raised eyebrows... What more can you ask for from waiting staff? Highly recommended. Drive carefully in the car park... A mallard drake and his two lady friends were relaxing in the sunshine, look out for them... Part of the character of the place...

Visited on steak night (Thursday, buy one get one free!) We had chilli beef to start and that was lovely. Would fully recommend. It wasn't listed as a starter but happy to serve it. Followed by 2 sirloin steaks cooked to absolute perfection, chips were lovely too. Personally something that I thought should get a mention was a delicious fresh salad! We shared a brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream and that ensured we left thoroughly happy.

We are regulars here and bring friends to eat with us too. This was yet another fabulous meal for all four of us - the Sunday lunches are the best around. The price is fair, the staff are great and the food is fantastic.

Sunday lunch (feast) party of four adults,very busy but very organised,drinks brought to table to avoid very busy bar area. Spacious seating area. Food we opted for main course only, all arrived together very large portions of good quality. Veg served in terrines. Overall a great lunch and will visit again, faultless.

This is my go to lasagna place. I’ve never found better anywhere else. Always get a generous portion. Rich and flavoursome. I read one review that says there wasn’t enough. All I can say is they must have a huge appetite. I’m sure if they had mentioned this to the staff they would have happily given them some more. Received a nice warm welcome. Lovely traditional country pub with comfortable seating. Staff very attentive. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend.

Lovely country pub. Great surroundings. The staff are friendly and attentive. I had the liver and bacon and my wife had the lasagna. I was told great things about the lasagne here (which I adore), so this is where I wanted to celebrate my birthday. The setting of the pub is lovely, quite oldie wordlie, staff lovely. However… we were told by lots that the lasagne couldn’t be finished as it was such a generous portion and very rich… This picture was taken after I had eaten the tiniest slither… very disappointed to be honest. More coleslaw than lasagne, where was the rest?

I visited the fox this weekend with some friends of me after hearing a lot about it. And it did not dissapoint. The food was amazing. Everything was beautifully presented and the portions were incredible, I did not leave hungry. The landlord of the pub mass is very friendly and welcoming. Not only does he cook amazing food but he also comes out and chats with his customers. Nothing is too much hassle. Had the best evening here. I only wish I lived closer as this is a great local pub for the village they are incredibly lucky to have this gem on the doorstep. Amazing food, service and outstanding front of house staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were genuinely friendly and attentive.Made to feel totally at home and even the chef came out with a bowl of beef pieces for our two dogs or wolfed them down. Feel really sad writing this review as I’d visited here a few years back and it was excellent.However, last night we visited and today we are all poorly with D&V.My 7 year son was up in the night feeling really poorly, my boyfriend was ill almost straight away and I have also been up most of the night. The food was beyond poor, my boyfriend complained about his chicken tikka kebab and exchanged it for a kids meal as there was nothing else that really stood out for him or that he dare try and what he was first presented with. His “tikka” kebab lacked any colour, the chicken was almost black in places and was of a slimy texture. My meal of chicken and chorizo tagliatelle was edible as it was hidden with lots and lots of paprika, but it didn’t wow, presentation was poor and I’ve felt sick all evening. My sons nuggets and chips were ok, although he didn’t finish it all. We ordered garlic bread on the side which none of us touched, it was like an Asda smart price one, it was a anaemic with absolutely no colour to it! These dine out to help out offers are just not worth it if you still want quality food, pubs are either becoming greedy and are using the cheapest ingredients ever or their so called chefs just can’t keep up with the demand. I feel quite sad that a pub like this has lost its way in terms of the food they are making, it was worse than a chain menu. I would never visit here again

We have visited the fox a few times, and we’re booked in for Mother’s Day but the coroner virus was taking a grip, and had to close, but were offering a takeaway service!So we did that, and we are still going weekly now it’s the best meal ever, also do steak night (Thursdays) pizza night (fridays) Definitely highly recommend and when it’s open again we will be a frequent visitor.

Mass and a skeleton staff have kept going through lockdown supplying a quality local takeaway service and excellent variety at very reasonable prices. Order by phone and pick a time slot, rock up, contactless payment and take it away.Simply the best thai curry I have tasted. A variation on a doner kebab has also gone down well. I'm not normally a kebab fan but Maz's chicken kebab was a beauty! Served with a generous stack of proper chips it was fantastic! I will be back!

As a family that has my wife wife working on the real front line within intensive care, then what makes this village the fabulous place to live here, is the support provided by people that are wanting to help others. For this reason, what the The Fox and in particular Maz are doing in providing take away food and drink is 100% appreciated by ourselves and others to provide food and drink over these very challenging times. Furthermore, Maz extremely kindly and generously has not charged for my wife's meal as she is a worker in the NHS. The Sunday lunch that we have had today was so tasteful and delicious from the Turkey to the pork and the wonderful crackling.Thank you Maz.

We booked a table at the Fox to celebrate my husbands birthday along with our two sons. We were shown to our table straight away and were quickly supplied with menus and drinks. Our order was taken fairly quickly, but there were three tables who had ordered ahead of us, so we had a little wait for our food to arrive. When it came it was plentiful, hot and very delicious. The sweet menu was not extensive but we all ordered different things and all were well presented and again no complaints and four empty dishes.There were four menus to choose from including a roast menu that is only available on Wednesdays.We will definitely visit again. We are already planning the next date.

Great place to eat when you are hungry. Masive portions. Landlord Maz is very generous. Must be one of the most popular pubs in the Welland Valley. Always a log fire to greet you and a welcoming smile from the landlord. A typical village pub and very popular with the locals.

Sunday lunch for three at the Fox Inn. Our first visit and an enjoyable experience. Busy as you’d expect for Sunday lunch. Plenty eating and the bar area very busy with drinkers as well. Good quality food, served with a smile in rustic surroundings. Can’t say much more than that.

We eat at The Fox quite regularly and particularly enjoy the Sunday Roast and Steak night on a Thursday. Tonight we decided to try the pizzas. We were attending something else in the village beforehand so preordered and they were on our table within 10 minutes of us arriving. Wow! I had the spicy one, there was plenty of topping and plenty of heat! It was delicious, and I’m very fussy when it comes to pizzas! We will definitely be going back for more, may even try as a take away one night. Well done to The Fox, a great addition to an already brilliant menu.

A lovely village but the pub is not as exciting as you’d hope. It’s a bit spit and sawdust inside but incredibly popular for Sunday Lunch. The portions are enormous with a good choice of meats. We found the beef a bit fatty but the pork was delicious. The young team serving worked hard and food came out quickly and was piping hot. Very good value but not a special occasion place.

Where to begin... We were recommended to visit for Sunday Lunch by some good people we met in Market Harborough. Thank You! Good choice! In the first instance its a proper pub with a hard working landlord and staff that still find time to make new customers very welcome. The atmosphere is great and instantly you relax and begin to enjoy the experience. Good beer and sensible selection of ales. The food! Did I mention the food... Quality and quantity! Plenty of meat choices for the Sunday roasts and you can opt to some of everything... When I say some, I mean my plate was heaped with beautifully cooked meat, gravy and a substantial yorkshire pudding. The rest of the vegetables came out on separate serving plates (no room on the main plate). It was delicious. I was defeated but the young person serving us automatically offered to wrap up the leftover meat for us to take away. Top marks to a all concerned. Great food, great pub. I wish it was my local because I would be in there pretty much everyday.

Our favourite place for a burger fix!

A firm favourite. Always great, home cooked food at reasonable prices; excellent quality and wide choice. The lads who run it are lovely, very friendly. I love the atmosphere, the hares and other country artifacts on display. After your visit, walk down to the duckpond (the ducks come up to the pub to be fed), and say hello to the goats and ponies in the adjoining field. Don't forget to visit the Hallaton museum at the other end of this fascinating Leicestershire village!

Regular Sunday lunch spot for us and our family and friends. Fantastic place to go for food. The Sunday lunch is out of this world!! The Mixed Meat is ENORMOUS!! I’d fully recommend it but you’ll have no room for a starter or dessert!! Been here for other meals too and they are just to die for! Fantastic portions and quality too. If you are looking for a good Sunday dinner, then this place is a must!!! Excellent place to go after a walk or cycle in the local area. Lovely beer garden too for those hot summer days.

We have eaten here before and always enjoyed it so we took 7 family members. Starters were lovely and generous and the puddings yummy. However we were so disappointed with the Sunday roast as it was very very salty. We decided it was the gravy and possibly the roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese also. It ruined the meal and we could not eat much of it. We advised the waitress who apologised and said the chef said it must be the gravy as he uses meat juices. However he needs to taste it. There was no offer to replace the meals although I do think we would of had to wait a long time for that as they were full and busy. I think the salty gravy only affected us as others were happily tucking in. Bitterly disappointed especially after spending £160. Can I suggest to please put gravy in jug and not all over the dinner Incase there is an issue.

Friendly welcome in a busy pub and we were told by regulars that the Katsu curry and the fish pie were fantastic, so we tried them and indeed they were. Large portions and home made meals added to a great evening out so well worth a visit if you have never been.

A last minute booking for 5 of us. We arrived to a very busy reataurant on a Wednesday night. The team there working hard to keep the pace moving.

We drove to Hallaton for lunch at another pub in the village, however, luckily for us they were closed due to kitchen work being carried out (despite no mention of it on the internet!).

Popped in for a catch up and lunch with a friend. Very warm welcome and the pub was very quiet just a couple of others having lunch. The menu is a typical good pub menu with plenty of choice ( its not fancy ). Ham and eggs was lovely and chips very home made which pleased me. The Spanish omelette my friend had looked huge and was enjoyed. All around the pub are objects for sale as they own a shop in Uppingham, some really nice quirky objects. The grounds are well kept with a nice area to sit out near the pond too. Would definitely pop in again

I visited as part of a large group for a family birthday, despite the fact the pub was busy (it was sunday) the food and service was fantastic, obviously all home made (no frozen yorkshire puddings here!) and the portions were massive. I am vegan and they were able to accomodate me. Also worth mentioning I contacted the pub in advance to ask if they did vegan food, they replied and were super helpful. It was well worth the 49 mile drive!

Met up for Sunday lunch. Pretty picture postcard village. The Fox Inn is next to the village pond so lovely location. The pub is lovely inside and we were given a warm welcome. Food is cheap and plentiful. I had the veggie options which were not to my taste however everyone else enjoyed theirs so could have just been my choices. I had parsnip soup which was very thin and had a strange taste and for mains I had a veggie risole again, not to my taste. Apparently the beer was very nice! Would go again and choose something else. Pudding was fab. Service was attentive.

The food is always exelent, and there's relaxed and fun atmosphere. It's my favorite place to go for dinner, and I can always come here to cheer up, whether it be to eat or a quick drink. Thank you!

We came here as a family of four having been given recommendation on a new style menu. We arrived on a Tuesday night with the restaurant busy and a lovely atmosphere. What was good to see was the excellent choice of beer from Timothy Taylor to IPA. To eat, my daughters had chicken and chorizo tagliatelle and my wife had the most flavoursome Asian style Tuna as a healthy option. I had lamb skewers also as a healthy option with a lovely fresh side salad. Thank you to the chef and the landlord for a great night and will be returning very soon.

Came here for the first time on saturday night to celebrate a anniversary with my gf on recomendation from a work colleague and exceeded expectations from everything from extensive menu selection, staff friendliness to food quality and portion size...loved it!

My family often go to this pub and I thought that it wouldn’t be suitable for me. But I can honestly say that the chef was amazing. I had a lovely 3 course meal with my family also enjoying theirs. The food was actually better than some restaurants I have been to with an actual Vegan menu. Very highly recommended to all. It’s also really nice to see the animals in the field. Great for kids.

Love the fox, been several times now, portions are if anything, too big, but better than leaving hungry! Floor staff could be a little more service focused at times, but generally exceptable, the food makes up for this!

Our second trip for lunch to this lovely cozy and welcoming pub/ restaurant. Set in a lovely position next to a green and duck pond it was lovely to watch horses and dog walkers travel past as we ordered lunch. Fabulous extensive menu, with something for every taste and pocket , we had superb service , our well behaved dog was welcomed to join us and the food which was clearly freshly cooked from scratch was absolutely excellent , worthy of the highest class of restaurant. Atmosphere was lovely and it was an all round enjoyable experience! Highly recommended .

Badly managed. Slow service even when not very busy. Unmanaged wasp nests. Rude staff. We have been very disappointed with our experience here after a recommendation. Only positive is that it is based in a really nice setting and good for kids.

After arriving 15 minutes we waited for a drink at the bar. A customer who had eaten was having problems paying her bill after being charged for drinks she had not had, she left with this unresolved. We were then served by the one member of staff behind the bar who was very helpful gave us a drink, took us to our table and gave us some menus. We waited for 30 minutes and no one came to take our order. Whilst we were waiting another party who had been seated before us came to the bar to place their order they were asked to take a seat. There were only two waiting staff and the restaurant was really busy. By 9pm we were hungry and not happy as we knew if we left we would struggle to get a table somewhere else. Ruined the night really and wont be returning. Just clearly not enough staff! The food that came out of the kitchen looked ok just a pity that we never got to try any. Wont be returning we live about 10 miles away, used Tripadvisor reviews to chose somewhere to eat. Its too far to travel to take the risk that we wont get fed, Saturday nights are too precious for this type of experience.

Have been to the Fox several times now and each time it delivers. Lovely country pub, great beer and lovely food. The best burgers i have ever eaten. Highly recommended all round, great value and nice people.

Finding a place to meet a friend who lives quite a distance away is always a problem if you wish to meet halfway! So we "stuck a pin in a map" metaphorically speaking, and decided on this venue. It is a fine Pub with Pub Grub. The service was polite and not intrusive. The portions were superb and the price certainly not exorbitant. I will not be making a special journey (a couple of hours through beautiful countryside) to eat here again but if you are in the area and want Pub Grub do give it a try.

We were told about the food at the Fox and it was up to expectations the food was good value and the portions were large. The only thing that put me off was the feeling of needing you to move on once you had eaten, the landlord was cracking the whip to motivate his staff to attend to the customers and this seemed create an atmosphere where I felt that we should move from the table once we had eaten where we usually sit and relax over drinks

We were staying just down the road from Hallaton and before we could book into our cottage we went to The Fox Inn for lunch. So impressed were we that we went back for dinner that evening. We also went back on the Saturday evening as well. You might not find this surprising but having taken cottage holidays for many years one of the delights is finding good places to eat. The fact that we ate here on five of the seven nights we were there says it all. Good food, large portions and friendly staff, The Fox has it all. A pub that is well supported by locals and friendly and welcoming to strangers. Loved it.

We come here quite a lot. they are always kind and accommodating to my elderly parents (my Mum has Alzheimer's so not always the easiest of customers). Good food - plenty of choice and very reasonably priced.

Having done a walk if 6 miles enjoyed a pub lunch. Good menu, and very ample portions.We had sandwiches and small side salad, far to much for me so took some home. Staff friendly and helpful.Will certainly go again. Good choice of local walks.

4 of us came for lunch bank holiday Monday on a family visit and was a great return visit having been here year before

We had a meal here it was great value. The landlord is both welcoming and a character. Recommended for all
