Lovely place to eat. Great food and wonderful service. In a beautiful setting.

Good Sunday roast. Were a party of 10 and all enjoyed the meal. Roast potatoes could have been a bit more roasted rather than "boiled" and meat gravy instead of veg gravy would have been preferable, but every other element was spot on.

Lovely country pub with excellent food. Staff are friendly and attentive. The burgers are excellent. Overall atmosphere is great. Sat near the log burner after a cold and wet walk, it was bliss

Went for a meal a few years ago, loved it so much we've been back many times. Always friendly, warm and welcoming. We even had our wedding in the function room upstairs (pictured)

First time we'd been to the Fox and Goose on hearing good things about it and a reasonable priced menu. On arrival we were greeted by Captain Charisma himself and ushered to sit on a table in "no mans land" until our table was ready. At this point we assumed that it must be busy and packed out, so we sat and waited a while until we were called through. Eventually we were told our table was ready, so were escorted through to the conservatory, an empty conservatory!! We were the only table in there!! The older waitress was very polite and took our food order. Eventually starters turned up and went down a treat. However I had to get up to tell the staff we'd finished and were ready for mains. Unfortunately this lack of service continued with the younger waiting staff and I had to get up on 3 more occasions to prompt them for table service! The food was very nice overall, but if the management can please ask the younger waiting staff to be a little more attentive, it might save the frustration of future diners having to endure nearly 3 hours of being there like we were! Not sure we'd go back, based on the lack of service.

We held our wedding here 11/11 /23, and honestly could not have asked for a more perfect day. Lynn and the team went above and beyond to ensure everything was as we wanted, the level of warmth and professionalism was second to none. We have received so many compliments from our guests about the food served, the lovely location, the venue itself and the fantastic staff. Unlike some wedding venues that want to push you into a set format every idea we had that was a little out of the ordinary was met with nothing but enthusiasm and a willingness to accommodate us. We cannot recommend The Fox and Goose enough for large celebrations, or even just dinner for two. Thank you to all involved for helping us make the most special memories, and our day truly unique.

Lovely Sunday lunch in this busy country pub. Food is tasty and the staff attentive and friendly. Catered for my wife's food allergy. A good place to dine.

Both Lynne, Craig,and the rest of the incredible team did the absolute MOST to give us the wedding day of our dreams. From setting up the venue to make our visual dreams come to life, to making us and all of our guests feel welcome and relaxed throughout the day. Lynne was amazing at listening to our desires for our dream day, and she truly gave us everything we wanted and more. Couldn't recommend enough,and the food is DIVINE!!!

We chose The Fox & Goose as the venue for our intimate wedding. Craig, Lynne and the team were superb in every respect, ensuring our special day went super smooth and without a hitch. We had a relatively small event with only 14 day guests but that made no difference to the service we received. They were super-welcoming, and the food was top drawer. Highly recommended.

Visited for the first time at the weekend on our way into Chesterfield. Good move. It was early, but everything went smoothly. Excellent selection of beer and wine (by the glass or bottle). The food menu was great, to suit any tastes. Had the special, herring, and pickled veg. Then it was steak and salad, perfectly cooked. The staff were great, attentive but not intrusive. We go into Chesterfield frequently so will be back.

Food is excellent 👌 Service was prompt. Very busy and we ate late on a Sunday afternoon. As a result various items on the menu were unavailable, which was a bit disappointing.

Up marker dining. Good food, freshly cooked. Good service from 2 young attentive waitresses. A bit noisy but understandable with a birthday crowd partying. Good experience and booked for Christmas.

Called in for dinner, found a good selection of beers, had a pint of Guinness, really good, we had dinner with a good selection on the menu, food was excellent, staff are very friendly and helpful, very welcoming, definitely recommend this place, very large car park so no problems with parking, fantastic views over the moors. Ideal setting for a great day. Would very much recommend the Fox and Goose for that something special.

I have the pleasure of celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary at the Fox and Goose and can't speak highly enough of the attention to detail from the staff and the seamless organization. Lynne Brooks and Craig Lynch were very helpful in organising our day and nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely fantastic and we had a fantastic time. Thank you again to you all!

Delightful place, good food, friendly staff

We stopped off at the Fox and Goose yesterday for lunch. The outdoor space has a good sized play area and there was also a bouncy castle which kept our kids happy while we waited for our food. We were warned of a half hour wait because they were busy but it unfortunately took over an hour to arrive. When it came, the kids' meals were very basic and the burger burnt. The fish and chips meal was also pretty basic and not particularly tasty for what we paid. Not recommended. If you carry on a few minutes west, you'll find two other pubs close by which are worth trying instead.

Ate here on a Saturday evening as staying at the Lambs Glamping place round the corner. Nice food, I had something from the specials menu which was great. Kids food also good quality. Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff. Lovely pint too!

I just finished my wedding here well I have to say I am extremely happy it was everything and more that we wanted,the views amazing the selection of drink on offer perfect, but above and beyond was the staff especially Lynn and the young girl working with her behind the bar they we so helpful and constantly working with a smile on their faces I work in hosptality and I see when staff genuinely care about your experience I would recommend them to anyone. My husband and I, plus our dog,had dinner at the Fox and Goose on Thursday 17th August. It’s a very picturesque pub with a long history and lots of character. We were made to feel welcome by Craig, who provided excellent service throughout the evening, despite being busy with a wedding reception at the same time. For medical reasons I have to follow a vegan and gluten free diet and I was impressed by the options available to me. The food was delicious and beautifully presented- my meal was excellent- the curried sweet potato and coconut soup was rich and warm; the vegan ‘fish and chips’ was a revelation! The ‘fish’ was banana flower coated in a gluten free batter. The chocolate orange tart was very moreish, again with gluten free pastry, that melted in the mouth. My husband had a fantastic cream cheese stuffed courgette flower as a starter, then exquisitely poached haddock followed by a cherry and rum parfait- he said it was all wonderful. There were treats for the dog too, and water was supplied for him.

It's a great place , with great food, & great service ....we go must weekend & always enjoy .....we are even booked in for Christmas Day Lunch 😀 .....Thanks again Guys

Recently attended a wedding there, by hekk, nearly £17 for a pint of IPA and a single Gin and Tonic! Nice venue but be prepared for London prices for drinks!

Pop in for lunch Friday on our way back home with friends the ladies ordered the salmon my mate the rabbit pie and for myself the fish and chips.The girls food came and was edible but as for the rabbit pie totally overcooked the chips were greasy as for my meal the chips were swimming in oil the fish was burnt the bill was credited will not be visiting here again

Really not good! Over cooked, over priced fish and chips. The regular (vs small) came with about 10 chip for £17. Disappointing.

Over priced family dinner I had fish and chips which involved a small fish, seriously over cooked and about 10 chips - for £17 My partner had sausage and mash which was fine but nothing special for £17 My son had a ‘mini burger’ which was a thin, cheap adult size burger in a mini brioche. No ketchup, or any other filling in there. All in a disappointing dinner for somewhere described as a ‘gastro pub’

Disappointing I am afraid. My wife and I turned up at just gone 12, thinking it would be quiet. There were no staff to be found when we walked in and a couple sitting at the table. We asked them if it was open. After a few minutes the manager I assume walked in and said hello. He then proceeded to go behind the bar and answer the phone and then stood there. I had to ask him would it be possible to get a table for two and he said yes of course. I briefly looked around, it was not clear if it was tableservice or pay at the bar. I asked him how does it work? He laughed obnoxiously and said “well you find a table and you sit down”. I then asked do we pay at the bar or is it table-service and where are the menus? To which he replied, I will get you a menu. We ordered bruschetta for starter and fish and chips for main. The bruschetta was very small and bland tasting. The fish and chips, the fish was beautiful. However, the chips were soggy and some borderline burnt. They never checked on us to see if the food was alright, they never asked if we wanted to refill our drinks. For supposedly table service it was poor. Staff were hanging around at the bar. The kitchen staff were coming in and pouring themselves a drink. So in general, we did not feel it gave a good impression.

It’s hard to put into words quite how perfect our wedding was at the Fox & Goose. The venue, the food, the staff, the organisation and preparation was absolutely impeccable. Lynne was incredible throughout our wedding planning journey, nothing was too much trouble and she was one of the nicest people I’ve ever had to pleasure to meet. The staff were all fantastic. Professional, friendly and an absolute credit to the Fox & Goose. I wish we could do it all over again, because everything was so smooth and ran perfectly. Thank you to all involved! Kerri & Nathan

OUR WEDDING AUGUST 2023 Ya Know, when you get past the silly cakes, the pretentiousness of wedding favours, the boring speeches that no one wants to hear and hours of small talk between rarely seen, shirt tail relatives like aunt Maureen who's never had a good word to say about anyone, what remains is two people. Lynn, Craig and the team at the Fox & Goose, never lost sight of that. This , Bride & Groom before all else attitude enabled us to have our day, just as we wanted. Simple, elegant, no fuss and above all else, a bit of fun ! Thanks guys we had an amazing day. Here's to keeping it simple..... Cheers.

Me and my partner recently got married at the fox and goose and had the best day of our lives. From the start of planning to tge end of the big day, the staff (especially Lynne our wedding coordinator) have made the whole experience seem easy and so relaxed. Couldn't recommend them enough
