The Four Seasons in Scarborough

Visited over the Easter weekend and it was a good job we booked a table a few weeks ahead as everywhere was full. I had the chicken and mushroom parmesan which was nice and my husband had the lamb skewers which were also nice but a bit tough, I would have preferred a different option to the home cooked chips. 4☆

First time at the restaurant. Staff very welcoming. Food was excellent. Generous portions and very tasty. Well worth a visit.

Just had a delicious meal here - 4 adults, a teen and a pre-teen 😁. Hadn’t booked but squeezed us in. 3 chicken parmos (2 mushroom, 1 pepperoni), a kids burger and 2 huge mixed grills, followed up by 5 baklavas and a sticky toffee pudding, some fresh Turkish coffee and Turkish apple tea. All perfectly cooked and I don’t think we will need to eat for another week - all absolutely stuffed! Thanks so much. Fabulously friendly staff too.

We were looking forward to our dinner date- but unfortunately it wasn’t the best. People packed in like sardines. Service very disjointed, it wasn’t great service as the front of house staff seemed to be on the defensive & no smiles at all. Made us feel like we were just shipping us in and shipping us out. So even though we’d booked, We did not feel welcome & more of an inconvenience from arrival. We ordered & received the food that did look promising!..although on damaged and chipped plates. but then we started eating it! Then even more disappointment set in. The steak was so so hard work to eat! The other food greasy or dry. I mentioned the quality of the steak to the front of house staff. I didn’t want my money back but wanted to explain how tough it was so couldn’t eat half of it. To which I got a reply you ordered it to be cooked medium! That was NOT the point. Not once was an apology made or even any kind of ‘I’ll look into that!” Would NOT recommend this place & certainly wouldn’t go again. Hopefully people can see the pics & avoid OR the restaurant improves the customer service first then look into the quality of the supplier they use for steaks. Good luck anyone trying this place.

This was our first visit but won't be our last the food was amazing and the staff friendly and polite. The owner/chef came and spoke to us and the waiter Ahmed was funny and polite. Just love this place. 😊

Staff were friendly & accommodating. Wasn’t expecting much for the fish & chips seen as it was a Turkish restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. Delicious fresh fish, good size portions, brilliant for the price we paid.

Been to Whitby many times but first time here. All I can is WOW. We had garlic mushrooms and garlic king prawns for starters and Lamb Chops and Chicken skewers for main meal and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and overall a very enjoyable meal. Will definitely return on our next visit.

We booked a table online easily & on arrival it was ready for us. Staff attentive but not overbearing, we both went for the mixed grill which arrived hot & flavoursome, soft drinks very overpriced , alcohol average price. Only slight problem was the draft from the door but it was a particularly cold night & the restaurant was busy so no alternative table could be given .

Called in as our usual restaurant was closed. Had the best Fish and chips ever! Cooked to perfection and piping hot. Would highly recommend.

Thanks Four Seasons for some great food. Ordered delivery twice to our campervan, with no issues. So delicious both times, just had to leave a review. Had their pizza, fish and chips, lamb kebab all on point. Chicken wings were incredibly moist and tasty done on the charcoal grill (Dont go by the stock photos on the app!). Not the best place to go. We were given the wrong order twice before getting the correct order. The place is quite pricey for what you get which is basic food. Also we had more chips on the crockery than the potato ones on the plate. So recommended finding somewhere else.

My husband and myself took friends visiting from Finland for a late lunch here on Thursday 28th December 2023. Food was bloody lovely and the team giving us service was fabulous. Lovely uniforms and turned out really smartly. In fact, rather handsome too! Oh yes, good was lovely. I must say. haha Only put off was dogs being allowed in the dining room for the price you pay for the food. Especially little barking ones haha Anyway, we will go again. Lovely x

Christmas dinner today (booked 7mths ago): - On arrival the manager asked 3 times if the booking was still for three people, so just in case I had counted myself twice I counted again but Mum, Dad and I made three. Each time the manager asked about our numbers, he surveyed the room for a place where he could possibly squeeze in three people. After showing his disappointment that we had turned up for our pre-booked/pre-paid Xmas dinner on the correct day and time with the actual amount of people for the reservation, he asked us to wait outside for 10mins. No problem. We returned from the cold 15mins later to be sited at a sticky table which felt like it was wiped down with irn bru. A piece of broccoli hanging on for dear life at the edge of the table was quickly dispatched to the floor to join other leftovers on the floor (which I regretted later....) A waiter then threw some plates on the table, luckily they got lodged in the sticky grime and never made to the floor as well. No problem - maybe it’s a custom or something, Mum was not convinced though.. "What drinks would you like?" said the manager. we responded, "Oh just orange juice please". Now! this has got to be the best excuse ever for not being able to serve a customer with one of the most basic commodities known to man "err" he said “because it is Xmas and all the shops are shut and we can’t buy any". We were then offered apple juice (I presume they grow apples in the kitchen and dont rely on the shops for the juice). So, the starter was soup, when asked what kind of soup, the waiter answered "yes". I tried again- "what is the soup? to which he replied, "soup soup". So, we had our soup flavoured soup and the waited for our turkey with all the trimmings Mmm. After 50mins still no dinner in which time it was good to see the restaurant embrace some new diners who were able to converse with the restaurateur in their foreign native tongue. The new arrivals were delighted to be placed at the window; however the only problem was the new party could not sit together as either one or the other tables at each ends was taken. I felt bad so I attempted to get up but realised I was now glued to the table with Irn Bru polish plus the composting underfoot conditions had deteriorated somewhat that any movement would become too risky. So the other clientele at the other table had to go. They politely shuffled themselves into a corner (not from Yorkshire then..) as the staff gathered and fussed with their new special guests which allowed us a close up acquaintance of one of the waters backsides with my nose for longer than I care to remember. 1hr later still no dinner. Meanwhile our special neighbouring diners are on dessert while the staff waited on them to the exclusion of all other patrons. After a few attempts to attract the waiter’s attention to our table to ask for a coffee while we waited, he apologised to the special diners as his eyes were still rolling back in his head he and turned to say "its coming OK!!" What did come was a thin slice of processed turkey which you would normally buy from a petrol station in the fridge next to the sandwiches, along with some semi defrosted veg. We didn't wait for pudding, Ime not a masochist, but did see some folk still waiting their sticky toffee pudding AKA Christmas pud, (jeez the real stuff is virtually the same price in the same petrol station) so thought best to go. Four words for the four seasons: - Chaotic. Unclean. Not good. If you have the choice between The Four Seasons in Whitby Christmas dinner or a Meal Deal from the Shell Garage you won’t be able to tell the difference but the atmosphere in the garage is better (and the foods cheaper) 😉

We booked online before our holiday started, due to worrying about finding somewhere to eat during the pandemic. Tables had been partitioned to allow social distancing. The menu was varied enough for meat eaters and vegetarians. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked, and the mezze dishes were tasty with a proper side salad with more than just a bit of lettuce and tomato. The accompanying flatbread was freshly baked and light as a feather ! We were really impressed. The pizzas on the next table looked good, with fresh dough, handmade. A bit claustrophobic with perspex screens installed due to social distancing, but given the size of the restaurant, it's understandable. Regrettably, one of our main adult meals arrived luke warm and we had to ask to have it reheated. Kids meal "sausage and chips" was exactly what it said on the menu - maybe we should have ordered extra veg as a side dish. It was overpriced for what it was and I would not visit again.

Went tonight to the restaurant. While the food was good, stay with the turkish and pizza aspects, there was a total lack of respect for social distancing. Not sure they have reduced any tables and we were within a metre of the bar and less than half a metre to the next table with no barriers between us. A real shame that I felt uncomfortable for the whole meal.

We visited Whitby and we called in as there was eight of us and needed a seated area to feed a toddler as the weather was terrible. My chicken burger was nothing special in fact it tasted like a McDonald's chicken burger . My son had a prawn cocktail was the size of a prawn cocktail starter although it was on the main meal section and my partners banana spilt did not resemble one . That came to £30 just for those items and 3 warm drinks. My other son and his girlfriend has jacket potatoes with filling over £10 for each one . I could understand if they were spectacular but it was average cafe food . Over priced for average cafe food .

Absolutely beautiful food! The best food we have had in Whitby (we have done most restaurants in Whitby) the ambience was so lovely. Also a special mention to Mario and the other staff for entertaining my son 2 year old son! He absolutely loved it. The lamb skewers were to die for!!! My husband had mixed grill and said exactly the same. Just beautiful!!!

We went for our wedding anniversary after being advised by phil the owner of the pathway guest house where we were staying .we felt safe it was well organised the food was amazing we both had steak and was cooked to perfection .a nice bottle of red really made our 48th wedding anniversary well done

Great staff, great food. Very busy, we managed to get in for an early sitting at 5pm but fully booked after then so recommend booking. Recommend the Houmous, meatballs or garlic mushrooms to start. Fillet steak or chicken & mushrooms parmasan for the main.

We visited in August and on a positive note the staff are friendly and the restaurant has been adapted for COVID. There is a good choice of options on the menu but similar to other recent reviewers I would agree this restaurant is overpriced and clearly aimed at visitors to Whitby. The meatballs in a nice tomato sauce with a few chips - £18.50. I don't mind paying for good food but this is well overpriced. Similarly all the other dishes our party had were overpriced. Pretty much every main dish is over £20 each. So, I wouldn't not recommend but advise other customers that they need to be aware of the steep prices.

Booked a table online.... arrived and was told restaurant full- And our booking wasn’t there-the waiter asked if we had booked online so obviously this is happening a lot- I showed him my email, he took my name and number and said he’d ring when a table was available- he thought 20-30 mins. We were not able to wait there as no space so had to leave.... he never rang! We understand restaurants are busy- but sort your booking system out as this is not good service and we won’t risk booking again

We booked a table for my son's birthday, the place was fairly quiet when we got there and there was a choice of tables, we got seated next to the door. There is a good amount of choices but would have loved to see pasta on the menu too. Between us we tried pizza, garlic bread, chicken in a creamy sauce and kids meals. My other half said the chicken in the sauce was really good. The pizza and garlic bread was nice and the pepperoni wasn't too spicy. My daughter really liked the sausages and they didn't look cheap sausages like so many places serve. The waiters were polite and friendly. On the downside, the door kept hitting my chair every time it opened and it wasn't the warmest night. By the time we were into our meals, the place had got really busy and it was hard to get service for extra drinks.

The skewers, the lamb shank and the steak were lovely, full of flavour and cooked to perfection.Gluten free was not understood very well so - advised could have all grill items then when ordering that was incorrect. Steak arrived with onion rings (with wheat) and had to check the chips so be on the ball if you have dietary requirements.having read other comments about bookings I took a ohoto of our booking - it was needed as our booking was visible on the PC but not on the booking plan for evening. Table was found. Was very busy so staff under pressure, felt chaotic, people inside and outside all waiting for tables. A quieter night would probably have been a better experience.

On a very rainy Tuesday my wife, my son, two grandchildren our dog and myself called in for lunch. A lovely clean restaurant with nice food and pet friendly, lovely cuppa and pleasant staff. Would definitely call again!

Had a table booked for 8.30. I understand it’s eat out to help out but when you give other people the table you reserved it’s out of order.

We visited whitby for the weekend, and it was very busy so we struggled to get in any pubs or restaurants. We found this on google, the place is nice and small, all covid set up. Food was nice and staff very friendly, the only thing is that its its ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I had the salmon fillet, which came with a tiny salad garnish and a few ( probably 5 ) new potatoes for £20, my husband got hummus to start, no bread came with it ( dont understand how else you would eat hummus) for £6. The beers, 3 pints of lager £18!!!! I dont mind paying for good food, but I would like to have it worth it also.

I don’t usually bother to write reviews but tonight’s meal was so lovely that I felt I must. We have been staying in Whitby for a week now and aside from the endless fish & chip restaurants, we have been unable to find a decent meal. Pub food is disappointing and other restaurants just not that great to be honest. The four seasons has impressed on every level which as you can tell is not an easy thing to do!!I ate in a party of six and everyone agreed that all three courses were exceptionally good. The service is great, nothing too much trouble and they get everything spot on. We all throughly enjoyed every bite, I just wish we had discovered this restaurant earlier in our holiday. You may need to book in advance but I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!

Booked the restaurant as a recommendation from our B&B for a weekend away, Wow, amazing little gem of a place, nice modern decor, very clean, Covid Safe...Wonderful service by all the staff..and three of the most amazing plates of food served to my family. I had the mixed grill, my wife the chicken kebab, my daughter the chicken Parmesan, we were all very, very pleased...the desserts are amazing, I’d recommend the Baklava or sticky toffee pudding all with home made ice cream.We WILL return ...thanks

Yet again we had another fantastic meal at four seasons , it was very full but that didn’t detract from the quality of the food or the service. Sea bass and stroganoff were our chosen meals , and delicious they were too . Great to have such a great place in Whitby.

First of all the covid bit. Tables are separated by plastic screens which is good, although you can literally be sitting next to a stranger on the other side of the screen. Staff are friendly and helpful and maybes a little too close at times although we never felt uncomfortable. The food was very good, plentiful and reasonably priced with the Eat Out to Help Out in place. We would eat here again.

During a holiday I’ve been twice with family during August. Very good service, excellent range of food and great quality. Also looks and feels COVID safe.Tip top for traditional Turkish dishes and pasta. Everything is cooked from scratch so this isn’t fast food, but well worth the wait.

Don’t book through Trip Advisor/ Opentable! Booked through Opentable over a week in advance as fancied something other than fish during a break in Whitby as reviews and menu sounded great. Received a confirmation back. On the day of reservation was reading reviews to parents only to see one about someone turning up and their reservation had been cancelled so gave The Four Seasons a ring to confirm my reservation. They found my reservation but advised it was cancelled and all Opentable reservations had been cancelled! No apology. When I checked Trip Advisor and Opentable both showing reservations available for that evening at the time my booking had been cancelled so I suspect other would turn up and find no booking! Restaurants should not sign up to online booking system if they’re not going to look at them or integrate with their system. Have asked Opentable to remove them. As there are loads of other really nice restaurants in Whitby give this one a miss if they can’t be bothered to honour reservations.
