The food was very well prepared. I had mackerel to start with which was very tasty. The fish pie was excellent, enhanced by the cheese crust on top. I finished with bread and butter pudding and custard. The portions are very generous, so I did not need anything more to eat that day. The ambience is cosy and relaxed. Service was friendly, but I appreciated a gap between courses. The weather was dreary, but there is outside seating across the road for the summer. Ample car parking.

We walked from Blewbury to Aldworth and ordinarily we would pop in and had a sandwich and a pint at The Bell but we’ve done that several times before and wanted something different. We hadn’t booked as we had assumed that people would be recovering from the festivities of December... what a mistake to make!Luckily they fitted the 3 of us (and the dog) in before the 2pm table reservation. The food selection is incredible which made it very difficult to chose - but we managed - eventually! The usual classics - burgers, lasagne, sausage and mash but a few fabulous surprises like “steak and kidney pudding”. I’m doing veggie January so I’ll have to go back to try that. The food was excellent and unfortunately for us, the portion size was too good meaning we couldn’t squeeze in a dessert.. that caused a lot of dismay!! The prices are very good value and we will definitely be coming back!!

We had a lovely meal and have now been a few times. I think the service depends on how many staff are there, as we have had a fantastic service and then an okay service. Not that there was anything to complain about and we had not pre-booked, so unless you prebook and they know how many people are going, it’s harder to know how many staff are required for a country pub. Definitely go again.

Across the road from the pub there is a large car parking area.

Landlord Ian and his team keep a clean, tidy, welcoming pub that delivers on all fronts. The beers are kept well and there is a selection of wines for all tastes. The food is wholesome, tasty and served piping hot. Service is great. Definitely worth a detour if in the area for lunch or dinner.

Very disappointed after hearing good things. The food was not fresh and most of it seemed to be out of the freezer. An example being the garlic bread which was like supermarket garlic bread slices caked in cheese. 3 out of 8 of us didn't eat our meals. It makes you wonder how bangers and mash and many basics can be so badly cook. The service left a lot to be desired and the inside could do with a freshening up.

There are a few things on the menu that are flagged as "homemade". Take this as a warning! It means "badly made", at least for the homemade fish pie which was pieces of fish in a white sauce that was so thick and gluey it was closer to wallpaper paste. By contrast the ?factory made? steak and kidney pudding was excellent.

We've eaten here several times before and never been disappointed. It's a lovely pub with friendly staff and good service. Good pub grub and good value for money. Has a small outside eating area if you're lucky enough to enjoy good weather on your visit. Definitely worth a visit.

We came here for a family meal for 14 of us.It's not our first visit as we live quite local and have never had a bad meal here.Today was no different. The service was brilliant as always, the food beautifully cooked and considering there was 14 of us all served together.Only thing I would change would be the beers on tap.The Cotswold beer isn't to everyone's taste, and my head didn't like it the next day :-)All in all a lovely place and a fab meal.

A proper country pub. It has an extensive menu of pub grub with an emphasis on good value and hearty portions rather than fine dining. Very friendly - including dogs - and a well loved establishment.

Very friendly helpful local staff, no translation problems. Food was great just like a real country pub should be, none of the pretentiousness of other pubs who have become restaurants. Or who are trying to.Good food at good prices served by good people. I will be going back and I don't say that often. Message to pub. Don't change.

We've visited the Four Points with both family and friends on many occasions to celebrate special occasions! We love the classic pub atmosphere, great service and good pub food! The ride through the countryside from Newbury is also wonderful passing through relaxing landscapes, and small villages! Recommended for a Great Family Lunch!

Positives: - Fantastic food - great quality, local butcher for meat - the beef just melts in your mouthSunday Lunch - 2 courses for £9.95 was great value and good sized portions - choice of beef, half chicken, pork loin Extensive menu - again, great quality food and good sized portions. My mother ordered the fish pie which looked and tasted lovely. Lovely old traditional pub with log fires and ales. Plenty of outdoor seating which we've made good use of during the summer months. Country settingThe pub also has an OAP menu - two courses for £6 during the weekNegativesYou do need to book for the Sunday Lunch. Arrived late afternoon and most of the Sunday Roasts had run out. Service is not the quickest, especially when very busy - but worth the wait. Friendly staff! Conclusion Definitely worth a visit!

This is the first time I have visited The Four Points. BUT WILL NOT BE THE LAST ! Fantastic food with a very varied menu, with very large portions. Everything cooked perfectly and the two young waitresses were very friendly, such a nice change to run of the mill restaurants

I love this pub. On a hot day sitting outside with a meal and a nice cool pint is just like a slice of heaven. Only downside is that the menu is very small and has very little veggie food on it. So I always find myself just having chips and a roll. I hate omelette and that's all that's offered really.

Away in the countryside far away from a main road The Four Points Inn is an eye catcher on the outside and a stomach pleaser on the inside. We were lucky that there was a car parking space alongside the pub as the overspill across the road would have been a bit of a challenge for my father who at 96 is not so mobile. The Inn was built in the 17th Century, has a thatched roof and plenty of very colourful plants in hanging baskets which give a very welcoming feel. Inside there are lots of low beams and although there have been changes it still retains an 'old' feel. The choice of ales was excellent with several local breweries featured. The menu has plenty of choices for all and the prices are very reasonable. My wife ordered a Sirloin Steak whilst my father and I had Liver and Bacon casserole and mash. The steak was cooked just as my wife requested and the liver and bacon was the best I have had for many a year. The portions are substantial and should satisfy even the biggest appetite. For dessert I tucked into a lovely Bread and Butter pudding with custard, whilst the other two just had coffees.A couple of points to note are that they don't stay open all day during the week, and at weekends the Sunday special is very popular and you need to book roughly a week in advance. There is a large log fireplace at one end of the Inn which I would imagine is a great place to sit and warm up whilst enjoying the food and drink on a cold winters day.Off the beaten track but worth the effort.

Went with friends after a walk in the area and was really surprised by the quality and price of teh food. Beer was great at £2.90 a pint of 6X. They do an OAP special during the early part of the week which was exceptional value and excellent quality. 2 courses for £6. You can't beat that!!!It maybe very busy at weekends, so I prefer to say that it is good for the discerning traveller to visit on a weekday.

After a couple of recommendations, my wife booked Sunday lunch for Father's Day. Not expecting 3 star ccoking for £9.99 but the whole experience was a let down. We arrived on time, our table was empty but only laid for 3 people (we asked for cutlery) - and it was a bit too small for 4 but anyway. Obviously they were busy but not in the main part of the pub which seemed mostly empty - we placed our order and asked for cutlery again. Simple starters and 4 roast lunches. After 40 minutes we were getting a bit hungry and asked what was happening - food eventually appeared minus our daughters soup. Queried that and again asked for cutlery (theme developing) - and then started getting ratty. Was told they had a table of 20 somewhere - so? - and the order for soup was put in the main course section - so? - and anyway i didn't take the order she said ! So? Not one single sorry - and that word was never said at any point. Starters arrived - they were ok, average. But meal was being spoiled but dreadful service. Main courses arrived eventually and were below average. Roast potatoes obviously 3 times cooked and microwaved were watery, roast beef was clearly off a block rather than a joint, overcooked, slices too thick and very stringy. Finished main course and did a sharp exit - not a single word when we paid the bill - apparently the way to treat an unhappy customer is to blame someone else and then give them the silent treatment. In summary, poor service and actually pretty poor food spoiled my Father's Day lunch. Avoid.

My wife and I, needing to break our journey from south Wales to near Henley, called in for lunch on a Wednesday at 12 noon having previously booked as is recommended on their website. We were rather surprised to see other occupants eating what I assume must have been bar snacks but this option was not clear from the website. We were shown to our reserved table and whilst the only ones in the restaurant area at that time this quickly filled within the next half hour. The menu contained a good selection and our order was taken speedily and the food served quickly. The staff were attentive and polite .Good portions were served and the prices seemed reasonable. The pub is a typical picture post card thatched building. The only thing that let it down was the rather dowdy nature of the toilets - both men and women.

Very good service throughout. Whilst we waited a while the knowledge of an order needing to be gluten free was the best I've experienced in ages. The chips were cooked in a fryer used for onion ring

Very kindly provided us with a cup of tea despite the fact that they were looking to close up at lunchtime. This is a small but very nice quiet place to relax and browse.
