Late booking for Sunday lunch and we were delighted. Food and service were great (thank you Nikki). Very reasonably priced, good to not be ripped off for wine. Thoroughly recommend especially as I understand this is an independent pub, not a chain.

Really lovely atmosphere but it was very dark where we sat. We couldn’t see the menu! We leader breads and olives to start. Really lovely. We both had the house burger. Yes it’s a bit pricey but it was absolutely delicious and we both felt it was worth it

We had a family meal for 4 here a couple of weeks ago and we absolutely loved the place. It was well decorated and felt very Christmassy, warm and cozy. The food was very tasty, we had turkey with all the trimmings, and the service was great and to top off the festive feel our server was called Holly and she was very polite, friendly and attentive. We'll definitely return when we're next in the area.

Dinner out with the girls for Christmas. We had a lovely evening out. The food was delicious and hot! A treat to have a crumble for pud, chef even made me custard instead of the adverted cream. We had a lovely lady, Nikki, who saw to our every need. We will be back!!

Such a lovely festive time had by us tonight. The shoes put on a magical night of music and cheer, food was delish, our first Christmas meal of the season and not disappointed at all. Everything was perfection. Food delish, service excellent. It’s like walking into a very stylish Christmas magical wonderland, so homely. Highly recommend. Was completely surprised by the set menu tonight ! Fantastic choice of dishes on the menu. We chose the prawn cocktail and roast turkey. It’s probably the best Christmas dinner I’ve had in a long time. The food is superb and the value is outstanding. Service was excellent and we were made to feel warm and welcome from arrival to the time we finished our evening. I’ve eaten here twice now this month and have not been disappointed. The lovely Nikki and Jess really looked after us.

Warm, welcoming and delicious is the way I would describe The Four Horseshoe’s pub last night. My teenage son pleaded with us to go back to the pub for the cookie stack, apparently the best desert in the world, however turns out the biscoff Sunday is a now a close contender! While we were waiting for our order, the waitress took time to chat and make us feel so welcome. The short rib was to die for, so tender! We found a cosy corner which felt perfect for these dark cold nights. What a little diamond of a pub. We will be back very soon. Loved it!

Had a very good lunch with my family here one Saturday in September so rebooked a few weeks in advance for my wife’s birthday on a Friday lunchtime in November. As my eldest had an inset day, it was a table for three. Parking was a shocker. Access to the car park was initially not possible due to a dust cart trying to reverse out of it. When we finally got in, there were no spaces, not helped by the fact that people had parked motorbikes in car spaces. Just about managed to park at the bottom of a muddy road near the pub and, as a result, arrived late. Good to see the pub busy but looked like we’d been given the worst table in the restaurant. It was dark and dingy, very noisy and two of the places were actually an old settee with no guts, which would have been very difficult to eat at. Explained the issue to the waitress who either didn’t understand or didn’t care. Had we been offered an alternative table, we’d probably have stayed. As we weren’t though, we decided to leave. I had been considering booking a table of seven for lunch for my birthday on a Saturday in December. After today’s experience, I won’t be.

Pub.busy on hot Sunday. Service very slow. Lunch took over an hour to arrive and food cold, undercooked and very disappointing. Have been before and it seemed fine on previous occasions.

Fabulous food and staff fabulous location absolutely loved or meal. Very generous portions. Very dog friendly and very clean. Can’t wait to go back.

Four of use ate dinner on 11/11. Our meal was poorly served and the food was okay, not as good as our previous experience. We ordered a bottle of cava and a couple of other drinks. 5 mins later our waitress came back to let us know that we’d ordered the only bottle of red wine that they’d not got! The alarm bells rang. Food - one of our party needs gluten free options. Our waitress didn’t know what was and what wasn’t Gf. The menu has codes which we worked out while she flapped about. I ordered truffle chips with my steak instead of the standard ones - we got both?! Our rib eye steaks were a bit bland and fatty. We ordered a cheese board to pick at with our deserts - we got a few celery and carrot sticks, 6 assorted crackers and two thin slices of cheese (terrible). The crem brûlée had a layer of crunchy toffee on top of a watery creamy brûlée, not a slightly crunchy torched top! (Very poor). My waffles were still a bit cold from the freezer - not warmed as they should have been. All in all not a good meal - poor service and food. The place wasn’t busy - which is a sign !!

I get fed up reading pub menus, they are all the same and pretty much I don’t tend to feel like much of it. I prefer some lighter dishes as well as the ‘favourites’, pies, sausages, burgers and fish & chips.This has a good range of choice. Yes it has burgers, fish & chips and a pie of the day but other less usual things too.I have been here a few times over the last few months and have always enjoyed it. It’s always a good sign to see a pub that’s bursting at the seams on a Sunday and as myself and some friends arrived the outdoor area was full with people making the most of the good weather. We opted for the roast dinner and I was supremely impressed by the attentiveness and customer service of the waiter. The food was delivered in good time and the food was exceptional. A nicely cooked, tender cut of beef (chicken or the nut roast was also available if you are vegetarian) coupled with a decent selection of ales. Very, very impressed with excellent food, a great atmosphere and staff who clearly love their job and what they do. Recommended.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. The food was all delicious and I loved the offer to the table of more vegetables and gravy. Service was really friendly and professional. Lots of spacing between tables and a lovely outdoor dining area.

Dropped in last week for lunch and was deeply impressed. Not feeling like having a main course, I went for the kofta starter with a side of skinny fries. Absolutely lovely. My sons had the TFH burger and the seafood linguine. Both plates demolished! Then we submitted to the dessert menu. A great experience and one we are looking forward to repeating soon.

Another great meal with friends at the shoes, the usual fantastic service (we were served by Lauren, just lovely) and great food, recommend the lamb.... all enjoyed their food and we are back in two weeks for Sunday lunch.

The food at this pub is not as good as it used to be. The venue & service are still excellent but sadly food no longer worth the trip. Pork fillet overcooked & dry. Confit potatoes were boiled, not confit. Cabbage chewy. Lamb chewy. Scallops under seasoned. Not bad enough to send back but very disappointing and definitely not worth the high prices.

Having eaten here many times I have always rated it as good. I visited on Monday 2 Aug with my family and was terribly disappointed with their service. It was very slow, the food arrived with no cutlery and we had to ask for water three times before it arrived. The food was OK but only OK.I will not be going back any time soon.

I've re-written this review after the owner/manager messaged me to tell me the price of his steaks were not the £30 I quoted. He's right, I paid £31.50 for my rib eye with sauce. Sorry!So back to the review. Service was pretty good and it's a nice place to be sat in on a Monday lunchtime. The food though I feel was overpriced. Above average for pub food but that's all I can say. Pity as I've heard good things about this place and my wife has eaten there before and liked it.Maybe my review is a little harsh but I'd eaten at a similarly priced pub in the same village 2 days earlier on Saturday night and their food was so much better. The bar had been raised and my expectations were set. I'll be going back to the other place.
