What an appalling experience! We arrived on a Sunday lunchtime to find more than half the tables full with leftover food and plates. The person at the bar gave us the wrong drinks twice (only a pint and a half!) and got severely confused when offered 22p to accompany a £10 note for a £5.22 bill. If this wasn't bad enough, the ladies toilet was in a disgraceful condition, with one cubicle containing what appeared to be days old vomit up the walls and the loo roll having been in the bowl. We've been to many Wetherspoons pubs over the years, but this was a disgrace to the chain.

Awful beer. Really awful. How is it possible to serve such a bad Plum Porter? Unfriendly staff. Sorry, am I standing in the wrong place? Do I need to move to where you want to serve me? Where did you get that attitude from? I always thought that ‘Spoons were of a consistent, reliable standard. Well, I was wrong. I hate to think what any tourists who wander in here think! Some thought went into decorating this establishment: and that is my only positive comment. Awful.

Breakfast was just cold and horrible. Very disappointed. I am generally a JDW fan but have noticed they can vary in quality quite considerably. On this occasion I quickly realised the food was warm at best and cold by the time I had finished. Service was ok but nobody came to check if everything was ok. Must have been standing a while before being served. Definitely will not return to this venue.

We visited Hexham for the day and spotted the Forum so thought that would be our choice for lunch and a pint. Well what a shock! We have visited and enjoyed many Wetherspoons around the country and this has to be worst visited. The place was dirty and the atmosphere was uncomfortable. We made a quick exit! If this was the first Wetherspoons you visited I assume it would be the last.

Against better judgement husband persuaded me to eat here on Sunday. I went for the baked potato & salad, as there surely can't be much they can do to ruin it. Hah! Please see photo's below. The one with the meagre salad with wited leaves is the Forum. The other which was fine today, is the Electrical Wizard. Also the seating in the Forum is filthy dirty with spilt food stains everywhere.. I put my clothes straight in the wash when I got home. Another irritation was the girl serving drinks. When she brought ours I asked if the table could be wiped as there was a sticky mess on it. Also there was no mayonnaise or vinegar at the condiments station, could we have some please. She assured us she would get some. Off she went ( never seen anybody working here walk so slow) & never came back. If somebody says they will do something for you I expect them to follow through.

Got ripped off here. Called in with husband following a day of travelling and bought 2 meals. When I got home 3 days later I discovered my card had been charged 3 times - there were 3 identical amounts taken on the same day. Emailed and they said it will be a mistake and will bounce back into my account next day. A week later and it hadn’t gone back in. The company said they will refund if I send receipt in but obviously I don’t have the receipt

Worst experience here to date - and it has been gradually deteriorating. We ordered curries & drinks @ 5.27 p.m. The drinks came within 10 minutes. At quarter to 6 my husband went to ask where the meals were, as a party that came in & ordered well after us had been served theirs. They eventually arrived at 7 minutes to 6 & were not worth the wait. My korma was virtually cold. Some of the chicken lumps were tepid, others stone cold. The excuse was they had a sudden influx of customers, but in the back end of the premises I counted 8 empty tables out of 18. No apology for the almost half an hour delay, just excuses. I also observed a male member of staff using the ladies. He would not have had time to wash his hands, came out quickly, squirted a bit of hand sanitizer on, then went straight into the kitchen. That alone has put me off returning. It's about time somebody took control of this place & sorted it out.

Went for breakfast had to laugh, the salt packet next to sausage is to verify the actual size of sausage an absolute disgrace if the kitchen staff think that it is acceptable to serve that they should be sacked.they must have had a bet in the kitchen on the fact they could serve that to a paying customer and get away with it.

Over the past year or more the reduction in the size of the meals is ridiculous. The only thing that hasn’t got smaller are the plates which means that there are islands of food on the plate that is put down in front of you. The quality of the food hasn’t altered, it was always reasonable bar food , but shrinkflation is everywhere, from the size of the burgers to the number of chips and peas on the plate. I’d go to Wetherspoons these days for a drink but if you want a filling meal forget it.

5/5 as far as Spoons are concerned. Reading some of these reviews, I’m not sure what people expect from a Wetherspoons as we had a great visit. Of course if you’re paying Spoons prices you’re not going to get Michelin quality food and you might have a few people in enjoying drinks. Great pints, hot and tasty food and great service from all staff. Nice grand venue with art deco styling. An interesting, cheap and tasty place to visit for lunch.

The worst Wetherspoons pub visited. The place is tired, worn and dirty! Tables aren't cleaned regularly and the furniture needs replacing desperately with worn or stained upholstery. Sometimes, the coffee machine isn't working with just hot water or hot milk being poured. The steps down to the lower seating area are far too steep. Since there is no lift, how an earth do disabled visitors manage to access toilets? They'll have to go to the cinema next door! Let's cut to the chase here. This pub is rough and sadly, the types of clientele who visit here on a Friday and Saturday night are rowdy, rude and downright disgusting. The much reduced drinks prices encourages the younger demographics late in the evening looking for cheap thrills. Some of these youngsters who have consumed too much can be threatening and insulting. They believe they have the right to push in front of the queue at the bar. Groups of youngsters who visit can be intimidating and rowdy - they think they own the space and the pub can sometimes feel not for the faint hearted. The topics of conversation overheard and behaviour of these 'people' is shameful. Young punters aren't ashamed to talk about sordid activities at a raised level - enough to make you choke on food or drinks! Too much alcohol consumed by regular youth can also lead to some fights in this venue, and the pub has a lack of door staff security. I've often felt vulnerable. The bar staff sadly don't appear to be fully trained to deal with anti social incidents, and I witnessed once an awful incident of a poor man being hassled and threatened by a small group of lads. This place attracts trouble so avoid if you can. There are plenty of other nicer drinking spots around.

Really nice staff (but)why like most Weatherspoons do they have to throw the empty bottles in the bin it's so unprofessional and childish surely they can be placed in. myself i have tinnitus in one ear and it nearly takes my head off and it makes a lot of people jump as you don't expect a loud noise like this it seems to me there must be a competition of who can make the most noise. Very stupid behaviour and i wish Weatherspoons would address this matter

Both service & food very poor today. Ordered meal at 13.48 p.m. It arrived at 14.15 p.m. The mixed grill which was ordered for my grandson was especislly bad. All the meat was dried out & tough. There were no bottles of mayonaise on the condiments stand. I ordered the gourmet steak which was tough & contained 'pipework' you wouldn't expect to find in a sirloin steak. I was very surprised at the poor quality as we have usually had a decent meal when eating here.

Sadly, this Whetherspoons does let the Market Town down. Though centrally located in the market square, this is one of the few positives. A tired pub, quite outdated but the pub is restricted with what they can do and the nature of the building. This place is dark and dingey inside, the whole upper area could do with a makeover! The carpets and upholstery stained and worn, and tables weren't looking so clean. Lighting inside is poor and the stairs down to the toilets are very short and steep - NO DISABLED ACCESS to toilets! Only upper floor access for wheel chairs. My experience of eating and drinking is crammed, especially on busy Friday or Saturday nights. If you do come here, come in the daytime but later in the evening is not so family friendly. In the past, I have been appalled by some of the younger crowd who are attracted here by the cheaper drinks prices. You feel encroached by crowds when trying to have a drink or meal. One night, one young woman asked me to move from where I was sat just because she wanted to sit there with a mixed group of friends! Drunken and disorderly behaviour occurs at times and the occasional fight can occur. The language used by some of the younger clientele who visit here are often degrading topics of conversation. What you over hear is enough to put you off a cup of coffee. It's not the safest pub either and as there is often no door security staff. I have seen youngsters arguing here and engaged in physical confrontation. For families or for a quieter experience, there are alternatives and it's worth going to other nearby places. Leaving on a positive, the staff are generally friendly and as for the food, you get what you pay for!

Asked for BBQ Beef Burger for myself. Was served a burger with chips. Realised after a look through the menu that I had been given an American burger. So although I had paid for BBQ Burger, there was no BBQ sauce, no streaky maple soaked bacon and no 6 onion rings. Couldn't really complain as we had to go for a hospital appointment and time was short. The girl who took order had the concentration of a gnat in hindsight. Avoid this tacky place at all costs. Well, i do like this pub, something for everyone. The service here is always very good and its often very busy. However i'm not too enthused on the vegetarian options, nothing i particularly love, such a shame they got rid of the enchiladas. The veggie burger has never been good here and i have never liked the chips. I was pleased to see they had a new vegan burger option, but i can't believe it got through approval as it was so dry and tasteless even worse than the veggie burger, i can do better at home with a linda mccartney mozzarella burger, and the chips are terrible, a waste of a 1000 calories! I have tried the curry and the risotto and i didn't love them. The childrens meals are very good indeed and the reason i will return occasionally, just won't be eating much myself.

Saturday evening 20th July, 1800 to 2100 ... I have honestly never seen such a shocking lack of customer service than I got tonight in our local wetherspoons. The bar was not busy, far from it, it was very quiet. I was one of three customers stood waiting to be served while the bar staff enjoyed a little get together in the glass wash area, I know they knew we were there as they looked down the bar to us a couple of times, however the lure of discussing love island or some equally inane crap was clearly more interesting than serving customers, who by the way pay your wages! So eventually one of them managed to drag themselves away and come to serve us with a surly "whaddya want"? Yep, after discussing love island obviously some of the slangy sort of talk had rubbed off, I looked at one of the other punters at the bar incredulously as if to ask them to confirm what I had heard and they turned to me and said, you won't get any better than that off her! It didn't get any better either, jus did not want to be there. I have honestly never seen anyone in a front of house position be so totally ignorant with customers. Just for the record, and if any managers ever bother to read this, your staff need a good shake out, particularly this one, so LAUREN you have been named and shamed as the very very worst, most ignorant miserable bar person I have ever come across. .p.s. Normal service is good in here but I have not seen these previously,

Friendly staff and competitive Wetherspoon prices as you would expect. However, the choice of real ales was poor during the week I stayed in Hexham, which proved to be same during my last visit three months ago. No local brewery represented, which was a huge disappointment in view of the choice in the North East. Worth a visit though.

This building is lovely from the outside and has many original art deco features left on the inside which is great to see. Popped in just for a look and unfortunately the lack of cleanliness inside left a lot to be desired, the place seemed to be lacking in staff and most of the tables were full of plates, cups and glasses and those that we empty were dirty and had not been wiped. Ended up walking out in disgust.

A lovely Weatherspoons in the heart of Hexham.Originally the old picture house of Hexham, they have sympathetically transformed it into a welcoming Inn.

We have come to expect a decent enough standard from Wetherspoons considering the price. However visiting here for breakfast we were utterly disappointed.

We have visited twice in September and had great food both times. Unfortunately, on both occasions our table, although cleared, was extremely dirty (not a bit grubby, looked like it needed a scrub) and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. This was done but not with a good grace. Simple staff training required I suspect.

Where to start! I understand that the time i visited was dinner time therefore a busy time yet trying to find a clean table was pretty impossible. When it came to ordering i am on a strict gluten free diet being diagnosed with Coeliac disease. It does not fill you with confidence when the person taking your order has never heard of gluten free.

Typical weatherspoons menu - all v impressive. But the venue is magnificent. Former Art Deco cinema where the facade and some interior features have been retained. Worth checking out for that alone.

We went to The Forum for lunch as part of a "Last of the summer winers" pub crawl. Quite satisfactory. There was a query about the order, and the chef came out to verify...nice touch. I would certainly go again for the all day brunch.

My local Wetherspoons is great, I've never had cause to complain as the food is great and service is excellent. So called to the Hexham one for a meal, by the end of the evening we wished we hadn't.

After ordering our meals for four persons we sat down at our table to wait. There was mint sauce, tartare suace, tomato sauce in large bottles on the table. When the meals arrived I asked for mayonnaise and also salad cream to be told " oh we haven't got any".She then went off to clear tables further down the pub.

Quiet when we arrived at about 6.40pm. Usual Weatherspoons menu apart from Vegetarian brunch with quoin sausages which we hadn't seen before. Very tasty. Cod and chips good, like how you can get a small portion. Service quick as ordered on app. Interest decor and still connected to functioning cinema. Great exterior.

Last Monday was a brilliant and imaginative evening, with the screening of Mama Mia with lovely Greek nibbles before. The Forum balances a lovely welcoming atmosphere with a good customer offering. There was a real buzz and lots of smiling people. How to brighten up a very wet night in Northumberland.

Another JDW on a Tuesday lunchtime. This time a converted former cinema building, where it appears that films still get shown from time to time. Right in the Town Centre near the Abbey. The usual Wetherspoons menu, beers & prices. Always a reliable option.

WE called in for a drink towards the end of a hot day's sightseeing in the area on a Friday at 5:00pm. Relatively quiet with good choice of seats. Had we wanted to eat at this time there was the usual JDW menu. Choice and quality of beers excellent in a lovely, well located Wetherspoons.

Called in for a drink and was amazed at the surroundings in this pub. You can tell it used to be a cinema and the conversion preserves the feel of the place.

Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Called in at lunchtime for a couple of drinks. This is the second time but no more. A man, the same on both occasions standing at bar had the foulest loud mouth He was actually talking to the barman and two others Every other word began with "f' He had a dog with him This time he pulled seat out at one of the tables for his dog to sit at Absolutely disgusting. My husband mentioned to barman who grinned and apologised Not good enough

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Asked for two teas with extra teabag and was informed the charge would be £2.60 extra. Discussed with my husband and decided to have coffee instead. Went back to the ordering area but had to wait while the two members of staff were discussing overtime hours with another member of staff. After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Once again went to ask for some but must wait while one assistant was showing the other how to fill a serviette dispenser. Poor service and TEABAGS AT £2.60 EACH - Shame on you MARKS AND SPENCER.
