Just as the young underage drinker remembers. Absolutely Fabulous. Popped in on spec and they managed to get 4 of us in for Sunday lunch just before 1pm. Great food, excellent service, really impressed our friends visiting from Czechia and the Netherlands who were eager for a British roast dinner before they left. Popped in for a drink for the first time since reopening on Sunday (15th Jan) with my partner and we both loved it so I returned today with my mum and grandma for some food at lunchtime. The man working was lovely and super friendly and welcome as soon as we arrived, an amazing selection of wine, craft beer/lagers and real ale on offer and we also had some food which was incredible! I went for the sausage and mash but my family’s choices of the vegan burger and pie and mash looked equally as tasty, they also have lighter lunch options of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, etc as well as their main meals menu. Will definitely be coming here regularly as it has all the elements of a great local pub! ❤️

A classic Victorian, attractive corner pub. Hadn’t been here since it closed as ‘The Foragers’ but the decor appears to be relatively unchanged, which is a positive. Stripped back floors and fairly minimalist. Now has Beavertown Brewery’s trendy IPAs Gamma Ray and Neck Oil on draught, but I enjoyed a rather good pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Doesn’t appear to be quite as food-focused as it used to be, again a positive for me as it should appeal to more locals. Friendly staff and a nice environment.

Moderate amount of room to sit in the sun £16.49 for a basic cheeseburger 🍔? £5.50 for a pint 🍺? The burger tasted fresh but I definitely expect to be full after paying this kind of money. Nice courtyard for outside (covid permitted) dining but food was very overpriced for what it was. We went on a Sunday so they had a different menu on but we went on a recommendation and was very disappointed. The roast was extremely basic and very much what you could easily cook yourself at home. Flavourless boiled veg rather than anything more tasty such as roasted or caremlised carrots etc. and none of the 'extra' trimmings that are sometimes available (and no suitable sides available either such as cauliflower cheese etc.) - I didnt fancy a garlic bread with my roast....! Also had an extremely limited menu for vegetarians/pescatarians and no veggie roast available. My other half had a very odd fish dish and whilst the fish was cooked well how it came and what it came with was very odd and seemed out of place on a menu that only other options were roasts. Good beers and friendly service although took a long time to get attention to ask for the bill. A shame as we were hoping for better, won't rush back.

The Foragers is the most amazing place ever, severing awesome locally sourced forgaged food. We highly recommend it to everyone and have been going back time & time again over the years for the culinary delights with our family and friends. You can not beat it for interesting dishes and ingredients. A very special place to go whether it be popping in for a drink (the homemade gins are out of this world and only one of the many specially made spirits you should try), a little bite to eat, the full menu experience or Sunday lunch. The whole taste bud journey is second to none, along with the great staff, talented chefs, who are as special as the food. The foragers is a wonderful restaurant. It specialises in foraging for some of the ingredients to all dishes. We arrived on Saturday lunchtime with plenty of space. We started with garlic toast and mushrooms on toast. Both were excellent. Our companions then chose the cassoulet, and pork belly accompanied by cauliflower cheese, we chose ratatouille of beetroot and courgette. Our dish was delicious, with balanced flavours and beautiful balance of salt and sweet. Highly recommended

It’s a wonderful pub with a fairly limited menu (always a good sign that the food is fresh!) with imagination and foraged ingredients in every dish. We went on a Sunday when thankfully lunch is served between 12.00 - 18.00 as we were quite late and we had the wild mushroom and the deer balls for starters and the wild pigeon and pork belly (with all the trimmings!) for mains. All dishes were really well presented, generous in size and fresh, flavoursome and quite unique. I had some ice cream as well, the elderflower sorbet is fantastic! The service was excellent and it was really interesting to hear and read about the origin of the ingredients. The garden was pleasant on a warm summer day although it would benefit from a facelift. Overall, a superb experience, we’ll be back!

You can buy a postcard with about 25 St Albans pubs, and their addresses decorating the front, well it's postcard shaped, but we took it as a mission statement. So far we have crossed off about 1/3 of the targets, and while most have had their charms, and some delighted, the food and especially the wonderful beer selection gained the foragers high praise, add in the regular food foraging activities, and the wicker man burning in this ancient city, we have a winner... So far.

We dined midweek and were really disappointed with the choices available to us. "Off" seemed to be the key word of the night. There were quite a number of beers that were "off", the starter that I wanted was "off", the main course that my husband wanted was "off" and the wine special that we wanted was "off". I have no idea whether this was because were were dining midweek but surely any decent restaurant should not have their choices so reduced at any time. Before our meal I had a house infused rhubarb gin which was very enjoyable. My husband & I ended up sharing a pigeon starter which was quite tasty but was very pink so may not suit everyone. I had pork belly as a main. The presentation of the meal was poor and whilst the menu had said there would be crackling there was none - the fat on the top of the meat was soggy & chewy. Shame as the gravy was very flavoursome. My husband enjoyed both his vegan curry and his sticky toffee pudding but the ice creams that I ordered for desert were very average. Service was good, but the place was very quiet. For what we had we felt the bill was expensive. We will not be returning.

The restaurant we planned to go to was full but a chance encounter with local on the street recommended that we try the Foragers around the corner. It had a great welcoming atmosphere on a wet and cold evening. The decor is unpretentious and homely with recycled furniture. The emphasis is on pub food cooked with local foraged ingredients and responsibly hunted game. The pork belly was done to perfection and the crackling was sensational. The service was friendly and excellent. It was a pleasure to dine here. Shame that a service charge was tacked onto the bill as we would have tipped anyway.

Four of us and a dog had a very enjoyable lunch today.Hosts were welcoming to all including the dog and the food was good, with generous portions. There was plenty of choice for one who was a vegetarian and another who needed gluten-free.Admittedly it was a quiet Saturday lunchtime, which helped as we wanted to talk since we were were celebrating a Birthday.Mine Host noted this and to our surprise presented Birthday Girl with a dessert topped by a candle - a nice touch. The bill for two courses and a drink each, including service, was a tad over £30 a head which we thought quite fair. The only caveat was the parking which was tricky since the Arms is in a conservation area with most spaces reserved for residents. Non-locals should ring ahead for advice (which we had not).

Had read so many amazing reviews regarding The Foragers that my expectations were very high. So pleased to say that The Foragers was just fabulous, inventive and we will definitely be back. The restaurant keenly supports the local farmers and produce and everything is cooked and made with real passion. We had all the starters including the mushrooms on toast which were a divine mix of mushrooms, garlic and flavour. We had to fight over the venison curry and after chatting with the chef, she confessed a mixture of Indian and Caribbean flavours. We continued with a flavoured vodka, fabulous Argentian wine the cheese platter and more dessert. The service was attentive, warm and friendly and we had a lovely evening. I know this pub from old as I used to work 100yds away and it still looks the same from the outside and, indeed, the layout inside but that's where the familiarity ended; they had a huge selection of craft beer taps as well as real ale pumps and the food is all made from local produce in season so changes frequently. The food was excellent but not cheap and the staff were pleasant and attentive, when one of our orders was mixed up they didn't charge us for the correct one. The only negative point was that we left two birthday presents on the table when we left and when we went back later in the evening one present was intact however the other was missing but the envelope it was in was in the bin, make of that as you will.

I feel it was totally over priced for the portion sizes. On booking we informed them we had an elderly person who has swallowing difficulties and needed to have soft palatable food which we were advised there would be something on the menu to suit him. On viewing the menu there was nothing suitable other than the leek and potato soup. We asked if the chef could add a bit more sauce to the cauliflower cheese but we never got a reply from the waitress so he just had a soup that was bland.
