The Flower Pot Cafe in West Berkshire

Our first lunch in Newbury proved to be as good as the reviews had led us to believe. Pea and mint soup, cheese and chutney sandwiches, red velvet cake and tea were all delicious and promptly served. Friendly staff and excellent value for money, the Flower Pot cafe is a little gem!

Fantastic service, cute location and top notch breakfast! Shall definitely be coming again on our next trip to Newbury!

I love this cute cafe in the Inches Yard courtyard near Newbury train station. During my last visit, I had the chicken and avocado ciabatta and it was honestly the tastiest sandwich I've had in my life! They have a great variety of food and drinks on offer and I can't wait to go back and try out more of their menu (although I might just have the chicken and avocado ciabatta every time!).

Just had the most delicious lunch at the Flowerpot cafe. There are lots of outside tables with parasols, but do ask if there isn’t one free, as they have spare ones inside that they can bring out. I had a baked potato with tuna and cheese, which came with lots of lovely salad. Service was quick and extremely friendly. I took a piece of chocolate cake home with me, which was fabulous and homemade (of course!) There is nowhere else in Newbury as good as this.

It really is superb that ‘The Flower Pot Café’ has started trading again, albeit not up to full speed, but doing what they can given the current restrictions. I’ve had a couple of takeaway breakfasts now and they’re still absolutely top notch. Well done ladies and I hope that everything is fully back to normal soon.Small businesses like this need our support more than ever now. Massive corporations (Costa and Starbucks) can weather this storm. Keep awesome places like this alive and channel some trade their way in these surreal times... you really won’t be disappointed. The Flower Pot cafe is currently delivering delicious breakfasts every weekend. They arrive piping hot and very promptly. Lunches are also available to take away and Juliette makes amazing cakes. You can order a whole one if you’re really hungry. This amazing service has really cheered me up during lockdown

Great lunch yesterday with my friend from Scotland. Very cozy indoors and offer of blankets for people sitting outside. Lattes were in large cups and really hot. Home made chilli was yummie. Would recommend to all.

A small gem. Came to Newbury for the day and used trip advisor on the train here to find somewhere to eat. Up came the Flower Pot Cafe. Food looked good on the photos so have it a whirl. It's quirky with an assortment of plates, cups and furniture but well put together. Very friendly attentive staff and to top it off excellent food. If you have chance give it a go 10 out of 10

Went for our first Brunch at the flower pot café and it won't be our last. It may be small, but has large character. The staff are super friendly, and had time to interact and make the visit personal. We even forgot our baby's bag and they had put it behind the counter to keep safe for us (thank you). The service was fast, and felt like a cosy home. We notice many regulars making appearances throughout our time there. We will definitely go back! Good food, atmosphere and service with a smile! We come to the Flower Pot cafe quite regularly for breakfast. Excellent food and coffee. Staff couldnt be more friendly.

The Flower Pot never fails to delight. Whilst the venue is small, the girls make you instantly welcome and the breakfasts are outstanding. It’s an absolute must if you are visiting Newbury.

The flower pot cafe has lovely welcoming staff and amazing homemade food. There is a wit variety of options which provides a good lunch spot for everyone as the menu caters to all, including vegans and vegetarians.

My partner and I ate here for the first time today. Definitely not the last. I had a pastrami sandwich with a side of potato salad, my partner had a bacon sandwich with a chocolate brownie. My sandwich was delicious as was the potato salad. The service was faultless. We sat outside so it was a bit to conspicuous to lick my plate. If you are looking for a light unpretentious lunch at a very reasonable price I or my partner cannot recommend the flowerpot high enough.

Had a Saturday late breakfast. They serve breakfast all day. Full English was great - quality sausages and fried bread! A steal too. Good gluten free options and freshly made milkshakes. Two tasty breakfasts and two milkshakes for £15, can’t argue!

Great little café food was excellent had lovely breakfast. My mother(87) loved her milk shake and the coffee was very good. Great value for money.

My husband and I wanted a treat breakfast with our young family and a friend, one of my children is coeliac so can not have gluten. They were fantastic! As soon as I said gluten free she understood exactly how important it was. My daughter was made a lovely hot bacon sandwich on fluffy white gluten free bread. We had a cooked breakfast each which was tasty and freshly prepared. We sat outside, were given toys for the children to play with and were not rushed to leave. The lady who served us was so friendly and made us feel really welcome. She spoke to the children aswell as us and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

Yesterday we came for breakfast at the flower pot & wow! It was so tasty I wish I was there again this morning! The potatoes on the side were the best we've ever eaten, the staff coukdnt have been more helpful with our vegan requests that they were prepared for - unlike most places. We had vegan butter and mayo with our breakfast, soy milk coffee and they even had vegan cake - though we didn't have room as we enjoyed the breakfast to much! It is a pleasent little cafe with seating outside and a few inside. Overall we are hoping we have more projects in Newbury so we can visit again!!

Really quick, freshly made takeaways. Fab chilli jacket and salad or the Italian BLT. Great friendly service. Outside seating is a plus when the sun is shining.

My daughter and I treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast at the Flowerpot cafe. It was so delicious. Everything was beautifully cooked, especially the crispy bacon... We had the most friendly service ever, and nothing was too much trouble. We grabbed some chairs outside in the pretty courtyard and enjoyed the morning sunshine. Lush..

My wife and I had delicious specials here for lunch - quiche and a ciabatta and definitely a cut above what we were expecting. Really excellent!

We recently moved to Newbury and it was great to find such a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxed breakfast. Each time it has been fantastic, beautifully home cooked quality food, decent portion sizes, piping hot and reasonably priced. My 4 year old little boy had a lovely bacon sandwich and a croissant (he was hungry!) with a warm, frothy cup of milk and I had two perfectly poached eggs on granary toast, a side of bacon with some spinach leaves on the side (trust me!) and a latte. Absolutely recommended and so so much better than the usual places on the high street. A perfect start to the day or a great place for a piece of cake and great coffee, I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Popped in here on a short break from NCT class down the road. I have never been before but can't wait to go back. We both had the special sandwich on offer and it was absolutely delicious. I also had a nose at the other things on offer; homemade scotch egg, goats cheese tart etc and everything looked lovely. It is so nice to see a cafe stocked with so many proper homemade goodies and such a refreshing change from the high street staples like Costa and Nero. The staff were great and the food was very reasonably priced. Only downside is it is so small so you have to be quick to get a table.

The full English was excellent and service brilliant, although next to a busy road it was nice to sit outside in the sunshine.

Just visited this establishment and enjoyed a BLT di Fiorera. Basically a BLT with an Italian twist. Bacon, cooked cherry toms, pesto mayo, Italian cheese and rocket on ciabatta. One of the best things I’ve put in my mouth. Take a visit to this tiny gem of a place. You won’t regret it.

Small but perfectly formed, the Flowerpot Cafe is a great place to enjoy a healthy but hearty lunch. Their salads and sandwiches are delicious and so is the homemade soup. There is also a very tasty vegetable tart and homemade scotch eggs which are second to none. There is always a good selection of cakes and sweet treats including chocolate brownies and usually a gluten free and vegan option. Well worth a visit.

I met a friend here for brunch. The breakfast was really good and the coffee was great too. Lovely small cafe that is clearly well love by locals for their morning coffees and lunches. The owners were really friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend hunting out this tiny gem for coffee

I had Scotch Egg salad... homemade scotch egg, homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw and a lovely salad. This was the best lunch and I am sat here drinking my coffee.

Visited today with the fam and enjoyed traditional English breakfast and paninis with coffee and milkshakes. All the food was freshly prepared and homemade. All delicious and accompanied by friendly happy staff.

The cafe is cosy and has good character. Juliette and her staff were very welcoming and the food was so good. She is a great cook and so much like home cooking. She obviously spent a lot of time perfecting her art. I will definitely become a regular. I’ve been there a few times now and the service and food is always top class. I sincerely hope they stand the test if time. I couldn’t be happier with this find.

The Flowerpot Cafe is small but perfectly formed! The amount of choice be it for meat eaters, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free makes it perfect for everyone to enjoy. the food is delicious and the staff friendly and efficient -it was lovely!

Four of us ate here on Saturday after looking for a place to eat on Trip Adviser! The place had a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere which was helped with the friendly Waitresses. Three of us had scotch eggs and they were superb, definitely recommend them! If we are back in the area, this will be our first place to try again. Thank you.

Cute little cafe but very small inside - not many tables. The coffee is great and the breakfast is delicious and filling. The price is reasonable too just wish it was a bit bigger.

This is a tiny quaint cafe in the town. Like sitting in a small front room of the 1950’s but with a iniquity touch to it.

Independently owned and run, the Flower Pot cafe is one of Newbury's hidden gems. It located in a hidden yard opposite the exit to the Kennet Centre car park.

I came in a few weeks a ago, the coffee is amazing the best coffee I have ever had. I really recommend popping in to get your next coffee it is effort it.

We went to the cafe and we were suppose to pay for 3 breakfasts and 3 drinks but we paid for 5 and no recite was given so we can't prove this. £36.80 is expensive for 3 breakfasts and I calculated and it should of been £24.90

I pop into The Flower Pot on a regular basis. I work close by so sometimes get just a coffee, sometimes a toastie, cake or homemade scotch egg. I am looking forward to trying a breakfast. The food is brill, coffee great and staff friendly & helpful.

Went to this quaint little cafe on a whim with my mum and were greeted with friendly smiles and served a well priced full English and a coffee! The food was great and the little cafe had such a cozy and friendly atmosphere ☺️

I took my dad and Daughter to the Flower pot cafe today and it was gorgeous. It's not part of a chain, which is a plus point for us. My sandwich was lovely and fresh and the Strawberry cake was the best. We took a piece home with us for later :-) It's definitely worth seeking this cafe out for something a bit different. And the decor inside the cafe has a fabulous vintage, retro feel to it. Very cool

This is a little gem. An independent business serving excellent breakfasts, lunch and snacks. Friendly staff and car parking a one minute walk away. It is very small but in good weather there are plenty of tables outside.

Visited here for a Saturday breakfast whilst car was in garage. Had a lovely Cappuccino and Full English. Service was pleasant, food and coffee was quick. Would happily return here if the opportunity arose.

This is the first time my partner and I have visited this place, Although small on the inside, it's spacious on the outside, The service was friendly and polite, The prices are cheap and the choices are plentiful, Definitely a place to visit again.

On the way to Dorset we stopped in Newbury and because we felt a bit peckish we decided to stop at this place to have some brunch. The Flower Pot is a quaint circular building in a pretty square with al fresco seating, although close to a main road.

Excellent and friendly service, very reasonably priced and delicious food. For a quick breakfast stop this was ideal and I will be back.

We had such a warm welcome on a very damp day. A genuine home-made lunch - it was delicious. Lasagne was excellent as was the soup. And my salad was fresh, varied and interesting. A very special place.

We had a lovely lunch in this wee càfe in Newbury just now. Heartwarming food from soups to meals and lots of yummy cakes and delicacies are on offer. All home made and vegans vegetarians catered for as well. It was really nice to enjoy the home cooked touches and friendly services that accompanied them. My boyfriend and I visited The Flower Pot cafe this morning for brunch as thankfully my sister told me we had to try it. It is the most adorable little cafe we have seen and the owner and her staff were so friendly and nice. We both had the full English which was the perfect size and delicious and we got homemade brownies to take home. We can’t wait to try and go back to visit again very soon! Will be recommending The flower pot to lots of people!

My wife and I tried this cafe for breakfast one Saturday in February 2018. The menu isn't extensive (which is surely a good thing in such a tiny place - it seats about ten people inside), but the food was all good, as was the coffee, and the service. I had the full English breakfast, and it was excellent, the eggs and bacon being cooked just how I like them. My wife wanted poached eggs, toast and bacon, which wasn't a combination the menu offered, but the staff were happy to serve it. (The service here, in particular, was better than on our most recent visit to its competitor, Newbury's Tea Shop by the Canal).

Met up with a friend for lunch yesterday and am so glad I found this place on Trip Advisor rather than defaulting to one of the chains (Newbury is a half-way meeting point with a 40 minute drive for each of us, so we don't know the town well). It's very small and I was relieved we were early enough to get a table, but lovely atmosphere and excellent service. We both had an amazing roasted vegetable, avocado and hummus salad, with delicious coffee and an excellent brownie. We will certainly be back.

I stopped by the cafe with my husband yesterday after reading the great reviews and it was lovely. The Illy coffee was great, and I had the cherry bakewell slice also really nice. The best of all was the sausage & egg sandwich my husband had on granary bread. I tasted it too and it was delicious! Perfect runny egg and the sausages were delicious. Both people that served us were really nice. I am mum of a 6 month old and even though the inside was too small for a pram there is a nice big patio area with umbrellas, so it was easy for us. Nice relaxing coffee in the sun! Will definitely be back! And will recommend to all my friends.

Small and welcoming, with fantastic food that is great value. The staff are friendly and helpful. Best of all, they know that a great cup of tea needs the offer of a hot water top up in the pot!!

What a delight it was to find The Flower Pot and get away from the hustle and bustle of the big brands of the high street, an independent cafe with great tea, coffee and cakes.We shared a scrumptious chocolate cake and gooseberry sponge, which was heavenly. We took a break from driving along the M4 to see the town of Newbury -- and found the Flower Pot Cafe by chance right after parking our car. It's a tiny -- only a handfull of tables, but there are more tables outside -- and very charming breakfast and lunch place. The owner was very nice and service-minded, the food was plain, fresh, and tasted good, and was very reasonably priced. A very pleasant experience.

Visited for first time on a hot Thursday lunchtime with my son and his family. Because the kids are young the 6 of us wanted to sit inside. We were made very welcome and the staff suggested we move some tables around (there are only 4 or 5). We then ordered kids meals and our own food. The waiter came to check whether we wanted the kids served first whilst ours was being prepared. This was so thoughtful. All the food (kids small portions, filled jackets, salads) was freshly prepared and delicious. Great value as well. A really nice touch was the soft drinks (cold from the fridge) were served with glasses with ice and a slice. So nice for a hot day. Why can't all cafes offer this quality of service and food?

Beautifully quaint surroundings, lovely friendly staff and wonderfully fresh food. It was a lunch time visit as I was walking by. I live in Newbury and have never visited before but will certainly be going again.
