The Flitch House in Uttlesford

Really lovely when we arrived and the cocktails were really nice however after our first drinks we waited half hour to get any attention to the point I had to go up to the bar to ask for the bill, it’s a shame as we wanted to stay for another drink but instead of checking on the customers they sat at the bar Eatting there food. Was really disappointing. Wasn’t busy with 2 people working.

We had a lovely breakfast in this beautiful light and airy space. The poached eggs were to die for and the pancetta and mushrooms added such delicious flavour, you can tell the ingredients are all of the highest quality. Such lovely surroundings, the decor is so nice and the staff are friendly and welcoming! Can't wait to come for tapas too!

My family & I booked casa for a surprise party for my 2 aunties that have battled cancer this year, and we wanted to celebrate them getting through their treatment. We had a private hire and Jodie helped me plan everything so well, so helpful & friendly and just made it all so much easier. The venue is a lovely space and we had the best night. The team were great with helping us set up and made sure the night ran perfectly for all our guests. Everyone LOVED the food, it was delicious. Lots of people had never been to casa and will definitely visit again. Can't thank Jodie enough & couldn't recommend casa enough for any event, celebrate or even a lunch/ dinner with friends.

Went here for tapas Tuesday, unlimited tapas from a specials menu and because we were there before 7pm 2 for 1 on their fabulous range of cocktails. Food is wonderful, hard to decide which cocktails as there are loads and they all sound great.

Nice staff but the interior lacked ambiance and food could have been better. We had the 'Hot Cheese Platter' for two which sounded really nice but arrived lukewarm. We'd waited quite a while for it (despite the place being nearly empty) so didn't send it back. Besides, the staff were clearly trying very hard so we paid without complaining and just decided we probably wouldn't return. Disappointing, but probably has more atmosphere at nights.

We held a works leaving do here. I called a couple of weeks in advance and they put an area aside for us, which was lovely. The drinks were amazing and a lovely time was had by all. I'd definitely go back.

So many things wrong with this visit, extremely overpriced drinks, staff seemed more interested in gossiping amongst themselves than helping customers, woman who served us was rude and dismissive and seemed to be distracted by her phone. Would not recommend, the venue seems to be trying to do too many things at once (cafe, wine bar, nightclub), not great music at night. Hope management sorts itself out, really not impressed.

Visited the first week of their new menu launch, tapas was to die for, staff attentive and always made sure drinks were Never empty. Good range of cocktails, was also told they do half price on a Wednesday! They have just started a delivery service which I will be taking full advantage of! Will defiantly return!

We love going to the flitch, the food and drinks have always been incredible but with 2 young children my partner and myself can’t always get there.. so when we heard they was available for home delivery through go getters we just had to try!.. and they did not disappoint, the new menu is just amazing! Jalapeño poppers are definitely my favourite!! Definitely our new regular takeaway now!! Can’t recommend enough!

Absolutely dreadful meal from Flitch House tonight via GoGetters. Dry & chalky meatballs in the thinnest tomato sauce, mushrooms obviously cooked more than once, chilli beef burnt, dry and doubtful it contained any beef, frozen onion rings, soggy frozen chips (not chunky chips as advertised) and totally inedible calamari- like thin bits of white ish cardboard in burnt batter. Absolutely disgusting. At the prices they are selling at the Ingredients should be better quality and cooked to be edible!

My wife and I normally come to the Flitch House for cocktails and live music but we saw on Facebook that they were launching a new menu so we thought we would go and give it a try! It did not disappoint! Best meal I’ve had out in ages, highly recommend the seabass and mussels, they were to die for! Great range of food available, the dirty menu is so good! Will be coming back for more very soon. As usual, the staff were attentive and the drinks were delicious. I can not recommend this place enough!

Visited the Flitch house many times over the years we have been staying at the guest house, love the food & the singer was great too… had a lovely friendly waitress called summer who we had a great chat with & she was very on the ball in regards to asking if we needed more drinks, she didn’t pester us neither did she hang around in the back ground ( which I hate) just attentive which is what you want in a waitress. Wish more waitresses were like her!

What a wonderful gem of a restaurant. Took my husband there today for our anniversary and we were delighted by the very attentive and friendly staff, delicious tapas and welcoming environment. Def recommend and def will be back :)

Went on a Friday night with friends, had tapas food and drinks, our servers were Gracie and Summer, both very attentive, polite and friendly, can’t fault the service at all. Would highly recommend. Food was great and plenty of it. They were short staffed this night but not once did we suffer for this, they checked in on us regularly (we sat outside) and made sure we had everything.

Me and my friend had a lovely afternoon/evening at the flitch this evening 13/4/22 for there Wednesday half price cocktails, witch I know there main cocktail staff member has left but the young chap that was on did a top notch job the cocktails were spot on and we made sure we had a selection and every one was delicious, also the service was fantastic we were very well looked after by the lovely Chloe who was full of smiles. I don’t usually do reviews but coming from the hospitality industry myself and know how stressful it can be I thought it needed to be done for only two staff members on I thought they did a cracking job. Oh and we also ordered the pork belly and that was amazing so the chef needs a pat on the back aswell.

I often visit Flitch Coffee Shop. Not a large menu to choose from, but the food is good and the staff very pleasant.

Came in for 'Chinese influenced' menu put on for Chinese New Year, and were not at all disappointed. Because of Mrs Traveller b32's gluten free requirements we pre ordered in an effort to help out and everything was perfectly prepared. Couldn't fault it, well done Flitch House!

Nice place to have lunch whilst wandering down this lovely old high street. Very tasty tapas with good choice. We will be returning.

I came here with a few friends for my birthday last month and both the food and service were impeccable. We were never left waiting and both food and drinks were brought to us very quickly and tasted amazing, you can tell the staff take pride in excellent customer service. All my friends said they would definitely be returning and would accommodate for people wanting a meal or just a lovely bar to drink in.

Popped in today for a little bit of lunch with my daughter. Food was lovely and service impeccable as always. Sophie and Sophie really looked after us and gave my daughter lots of attention which was lovely. Will be back very soon.

Have eaten here on several occasions and had superb food so we encouraged some of our friends to join us last week. Although the food was delicious and beautifully presented, it was somewhat lacking in quantity. We had a five course tasting menu at lunchtime. The starter for my non-meat eating friend was a carrot with a few bits sticking out of it. I really feel that the chicken bits could have been replaced with something else suitable for a non meat eater.

Very nice food and not expensive, which was surprising as the chef looked like he had just fallen out of bed and was acting like a school kid in the bar. Also disappointed with the standard of service and the attitude of the staff. Manners are important when we are actually paying you. Don't think we will lunch here again.

I came here with my boyfriend on a Friday night and the food was absolutely amazing! We decided to order lots of tapas to share and we nearly ate it all. Very good sized portions and the cocktails are on point too!! Thankyou to the lovely staff we’ll definitely be back for another date night ❤️

My girlfriend and I visited The Flitch House the other Tuesday for a meal and a few drinks. The establishment has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were incredibly friendly. On Tuesdays they offer half price cocktails which was a bonus and the espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had! We ordered a variety of tapas and it was all delicious. We especially enjoyed the chicken wings, ribs and garlic prawns. I can’t wait for our next visit.

Visited the Flitch House with some friends for a mid week catch up, their new menu is amazing, the food was beautifully presented and delicious we also enjoyed half price cocktails (they have this every Tuesday!) AND there was live music! A great venue which seems to have everything nailed staff were very attentive and helpful, will definitely be back

I had a mocktail due to medication so that was ok a little expensive though and not used to paying for my drink before its poured but maybe they've had people change their mind half way through tappas in the evening very nice.

The Flitch House has become our new local, always good service, prompt food and the Tapas is great especially the garlic chilli prawns with a bread platter. Sunday Roasts are the best lamb, beef or chicken the quality is good and it is served on a platter making sharing easy. All the food comes at the same time and makes for a great Sunday dinner. Polite and friendly staff are always attentive. Highly recommended.

Have visited this wine bar on several occasions the friendly staff and ambiance always make it a great night. Their varied menu of tapas is great to ward off hunger whilst catching up with friends. There is something for everyone at this place from half price cocktails, music evenings and amazing Roast Dinners on Sunday. Also they have a secret garden out the back if you want to get away from hustle and bustle of the high street. One of the best bars in Dunmow in my opinion.

The coffee was excellent and the selection of homemade cakes and pastries stunning, all served by very friendly and professional staff.

My friend and I enjoyed a delicious meal. We were waited on by Sarah who couldn’t do more for us, she was chatty and very helpful. The venue has a welcoming atmosphere and although it’s a very old building it is decorated with modern features but still has the original beams and it really works. All the staff were helpful and friendly and I’d definitely like to return.

What a great place, first time there in a few years and it’s definitely worth going. Good food, superb band and a great atmosphere. Friendly staff and plenty of them so bar service was swift! Big shout to James who must have had backache after clearing our mountain of empty glasses and the lovely Sophie who was very attentive also. Thanks to them both for really looking after us! Twice in the last few months I’ve used the snug at the Flitch House for a leaving do/baby shower for ladies going off on maternity leave. On both occasions the tapas and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent. Lovely friendly staff who helped us set up all the decorations and really looked after us. They helped make both occasions very special for us all and I would highly recommend them. Thank you Jodie and the team.

I came into The Flitch House this Wednesday for dinner with friends and found the entire experience lovely. The staff were friendly and greeted me on arrival, my table was booked and the place was very clean. We ordered various tapas and all shared and I must say it was really delicious. We all tried a few different cocktails which were all delicious! As well as amazing food and drink, The Flitch House also have live music on a Wednesday. The singer was great and really set the atmosphere! Would highly recommend and I’ll definitely be back.

Love this place so much I have a regular party called Mi Casa Es Tu Casa at the bar, the staff are always so good at looking after me and my guests and the customers are amazing too always a great atmosphere.

The same faces week in week out, takes ages to get served, probably one of the worst places I have ever been to in my life I’ve been back a few times and it’s always the same faces hence the title word Included inbred. AVOID.

My wife and I joined some friends on Saturday 22nd at the 100years anniversary of the men’s club, at around 10pm we followed the crowds to the Flitch, we was impressed by the sense of team work, The lady who looked to be in charge and the other floor staff run round clearing glasses, nipping behind the bar to serve, sweeping up broken glass all whilst smiling and laughing with a quick dance break. We got talking to the lady running the show Sophie, I mentioned how busy they all were and she gushed about how fantastic every member of staff was, she told us who does what and why they are all so fabulous , what a lovely bubbly lady, with an infectious smile, she pointed out the bar manager making cocktails at lightning speed laughing with his colleges, a fantastic team.

Came for Easter Sunday lunch and it was awesome. A choice of four mains and all turned up on platters to share, so we could all easily try each other’s. The meats -chicken, ham and beef - were all great cuts and deliciously succulent. I enjoyed the honey roast ham especially. A great choice of veg including cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips and a medley of green veg. The atmosphere was great and we will definitely be returning, especially for the choice of sorbet and ice creams for pud!

Thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch, picked chicken, ham and beef (2 portions per meat) between the 6 of us and had plenty of food to share - a wonderful way to spend an Easter Sunday. Staff were wonderful and helpful and pre-lunch drinks were great too! Would recommend!

Loved the hospitality, the dishes were amazing, the music was always relaxing, perfect for a girls’ night out.

Three of us phoned ahead to book a table, we were told it’s best to book so we did and were given a lovely large booth in the window, we said we like fruity cocktails and the waitress talked us through the menu and recommended what to have, she was so patient with our indecisiveness and helped us pick tapas which was delicious, quick and the perfect amount. We never went thirsty with the wine and cocktails flowing!

We called in here for a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Got a nice seat near the bar & ordered some cocktails from a good menu. We weren't going to have food as we're not into the tapas thing but glad we did. Lots of people eating & it's good. We had 4 dishes plus wedges & they were all really tasty. Lots of cocktails & lagers but only 1 ale on tap,Doom Bar which was good. Staff were friendly & service was good. Shame the weather wasn't better as they have a large patio area outside. Mens toilet could be better, water all over the floor. Shame as the rest of the bar is nice & clean. Lots of large tables for groups with a good atmosphere.

Incredible evening doe you with friends and family. The tapas was excellent and lots of new dishes to try. The mussels are creamy and garlicky and the pork belly is yummy as well as so many other dishes.

Been going here for years and changed hands a few times during that period. Andy now looking after the place and it's fantastic for a small town venue. Great food, excellent service and fantastic live entertainment. Check before you go as have a very varied calendar ranging from quiz nights to live music and DJ's until 2:00am. If you're local then definitely worth a visit.

Great CNY tapas menu....best I've had in a while but then The Flitch House always has a great menu. Cocktails awesome...or so my mates told me.....unfortunately I was designated driver on this occasion! Hey ho. Looking forward to our next visit!

Stopped by with friends whilst passing through Great Dunmow, and glad we did. We ordered two platter dishes to share from the tapas style menu. Both dishes were we prepared and presented, and the food tasty. Service was excellent.

Popped in at 1 pm asked do we need to reserve a table for 2 pm told no, oh yes we did, took one of last tables. Had to ask for sticky table to be wiped. Other than that fast service, great platters .. use to live local n s this place regularly l.. will be back

Stopped here to eat on way to Stansted Airport as they served food at 4.30pm which suited our flight time. The menu consisted of tapas style choices which we found offered a great choice. The food and service were excellent

Had a really good roast lunch here last Sunday, absolutely first class. The portions were generous, the beef was cooked perfectly and a really tasty cut as well. Could not be faulted. The reason I've given it four, not five stars? My only beef (if you'll pardon the pun): only one ale (and sadly that's Doombar), and that wasn't available on the day. But as far as the food goes, very very good.

We head to the flitch house now and again for dinner and drinks and are never disappointed. The staff are amazing, if the drink you want isn’t on the menu they will try their best to make it for you, even the service makes you feel like one of the regulars and the food is always delicious. Wether you are after a night of quiet drinks and good food or a night of great entertainment from the band musician or singer on that night, it’s well worth a visit! Looking forward to our next night of tapas and cocktails very soon

I had my daughter in law baby shower here Sunday 25th . We had about 20 of us so use the snug room , was excellent they cater for us with mixed sandwich boards and mixed chips plenty of food and drinks for us all. room perfect big enough to talk and play games . Thankyou Jodie , Sarah and sorry forgot the other young lady who help , couldn’t thought this venue perfect

What a great night with friends listen to the mash up society drinking them out of gin. Great selection of gins great music great staff top marks for the flitch.

I have visited the Flitch House on many occasions but have never left a review.

Me and my fiancé brought some friends here to try out the tapas and have a few drinks as we’d heard such good things! And it did not disappoint! We were offered a booth right by the bar (which we requested if possible) and it was ideal. Atmosphere was great, food was amazing and great for sharing between a group! Staff were so attentive. Looking forward to our next visit and would highly recommend!

Myself and family visited here on Sunday 7th October as it was the first day of them doing roast dinners. We have eaten in a lot of local places offering roasts and this was definetely up there with the best. We opted for the whole roast chicken which came with yorkshires, roast potatoes and a very generous selection of different veg. The cauliflower cheese was a firm favourite on our table. We then had a selection of homemade desserts between us which was equally as lovely. The service was wonderful too, we will be back for more very soon and would recommend to everyone who loves an amazing roast dinner.

The Flitch House is an establishment where in a small market town such as Great Dunmow one can be assured of a consistent quality of food; a consistent quality of staff and service.... All at a reasonable price.. value for money makes the Flitch House the place to go for that extra special night out; or try something new with fine dining during the day.

My husband and I popped in on a Monday evening for a drink and having seen the food decided to stay for dinner. They serve tapas some traditional some not. We ordered the bruschetta sharing platter which was good along with a Greek salad, halloumi and a couple of other dishes. The food was tasty and the service was good. I would definitely go back !

The staff at Flitch House were warm, friendly and efficient. The coffee tasted good and they asked me if I wanted hot or cold milk. This was delivered in good time with a smile.

Over priced. Food which looked like my 5 year old made. Staff who only seem to care if you are a local. On arrival, we witnessed the chef acting like a child at the bar pretending to hit a female staff member.
