Really good food and we hadn't been there before and our takeout F/Chips was of a very high standard. Would definitely call again when passing and hungry.

Nice local shop offering nice chips and 🐠, with lots of option for chicken, sausage, batter. Etc, nice staff too. But need to get a functional POS machine, not everyone carries cash about.

This place has really gone downhill. To be fair the Cod in batter was v good and the chicken was ok….BUT the chips were a great mass of congealed potatoes. Massive portions don’t make up for poor chips. In a chip shop. Sort this out and I will be back.

Asked for fish and chips, and the fish was absolutely soggy If you like your fish nice and crispy then this is not the place for you

poor fish and chips … the oil was smelling stink on the fish, the Fish have many bones wish is supposed to be cleaned fillet also not with fish skin

Ordered for 4 , chips wasnt the best , bit undercooked and greasy , battered sausage had been there weeks by how stale it was , fish was “ok” , and normal sausage had been there a while also , curry was luke warm at best Was “ok” at best , kids or us didn finish our food bit under whelmed

Disappointed on my recent visit. Chips nothing like as nice as they used to be. (May be different potatoes?) Good selection of food available. Cod was about average but the batter was a bit stodgy. Staff always friendly.

Always have lovely meals from this chip shop ! Chips are always fresh and tasty . Staff are very friendly and welcoming. 5 star from us !

I purchased food and the chips that were disgusting I do not recommend purchasing food from this place. Shocking this fish and chip shop is not worth eating from especially at the prices they expect you to pay. You expect good quality not oily food from the fryer that hasn’t been changed for a while.

Awful, fish luke warm batter oozing grease like eating chewing gum I ate a few mouth fulls and threw away do yourself a faver and don't bother

Treid something different from the Chinese menu. King prawn chop suey excellent fresh and tasty. King prawn fried rice excellent quality rice but sorry to say pretty bland the quality of the king prawn was ok for the price. Great service. Must to everyone try the big spring rolls freshly made 5 stars... looking forward to try something different next time..

Simply love this traditional chippy.

Fish and Chip shop prices gone up again since new ownership. Chips a little under cooked when visited Monday evening at 7pm. Fish was OK, skin on and quite a few bones to watch out for. Their Chinese curry sauce is recommended and tasty. Place has been there for 40 years + and they should try a bit harder. Some of the staff are miserable and not welcoming. Trying not to be critical as it's been there for 40+ years and ok for some chips etc.

2 x large chips and curry sauce this visit. "Will this be enough for 4 adults?" I asked. I needn't have worried, it was a mountain of chips and delicious too! This is a great chip shop and probably a good job it isn't too close to my house or I would be like Mr. Creosote. A big, happy chip-laden Mr. Creosote. Fab staff too. 👍

I’m 57 years of age and this is the worst fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. The chips were green and the fish was orange. Didn’t think fish and chips could be bad but this was horrific we threw it straight away. Don’t waste your money.

Tried this place for the first time while Younger's was closed - I won't be going here again.... The chips were nice but the Fish was dreadful, there were more bones than fish and the batter was all slimy and just slipped off the fish as it wasnt cooked properly. I've obviously been spoilt by Younger's Fish bar close by -Will be giving the Fisheries a miss from now on. Seriously disappointing

Stopped of for something quick to eat, wasn't disappointed. Food that I had was good. Didn't have fish or chips, but will go back to try them sometime soon.

I've had two portions of fish from there fresh cod it was cooked while I waited outside the shop worth the wait

Went to this chip shop and asked for albino chips and dishcloth fish. They said they don't sell that. What liars, that's what I've had time and time again. Hard chips, not cooked properly. Batter on fish not crispy, as it should be, soggy as can be. Threw it all in the bin last time, and what little my wife are of hers made her I'll. Never, ever going there again. Disgusting food.

A great variety of chip shop and chinese food quickly prepared and well made with a chip shop queing system.

The chips were average, the service was unnecessarily hurried. I was the only customer there. The lady serving was in such a hurry, she microwaved my Clarks /Victoria Pie or whatever they call them these days which means it was just a squishy pie. Huge portion of chips.... Just a tip, slow down, the experience felt like I was being served slop in a homeless kitchen

Soggy, greasy and the fish was full of bones. Couldn't finish it. The lady who served me dropped the scoop on the floor, just gave it quick wipe and carried on. Stay away

Been visiting for over 20 years. Can't say a bad word about the place. They've changed ownership a few times, but the standard and cleanliness is always good.

Dissapointing both times we have been. Staff were less than pleasant on the first visit. Unbelievable in 2020 that they are cash only, even in the Covid-19 pandemic. The fish was full of bones and the batter was extremely soggy. Really dissapointing meals both times. Thought it was a one time occurrence but 5 months apart its the same sadly.

Open daily. Shuts 10pm Wed & Sun, 11pm Fri and 10:30pm other days. Adapted to social distancing well and felt safe. Lovely chips too 😊

Excellent. Visited at varying times including lunch. Their chips are very tasty {not greasy} As well as being "proper" size chips. None of your 'bits' for chips here. A welcome change from other places we have tried. Fishcakes and pies are fresh and tasty. Staff were polite. We recommend The Fisheries if you like freshly cooked, great sized portions... {larger than average} tasty food. Good prices.

He estado viniendo aquí desde que era un niño. El pescado es muy fresco y, si bien la masa no está crujiente todo el tiempo, el pescado del interior es muy sabroso. Las porciones son superiores y los precios son excepcionales. Un poco más de 7 libras por un pez enorme, chips grandes, chips pequeños.Mejor chippy!

Usually good, but today asked for scampi (10 pieces) and chips and got home to find a single saveloy sausage and chips instead. Not cool!

Primera visita a este chippy ya que no pudimos estacionar afuera de nuestro habitual. Ojalá no nos hubiéramos molestado. Los chips estaban empapados y grasientos, muchos de los cuales eran negros. El pescado (supuestamente el bacalao) era plano con la piel puesta y la masa más grasosa que he tenido la desgracia de encontrar. Todo fue en la papelera.

Awful service. The people who work here are absaloutley vile to the customers. I recently gave it another chance and instantly regretted it. I left before ordering after the way I was spoken to. If I employed people who treated my customers like dirt I would sack them. It doesn’t take much effort to be mildly polite to people (even if it isn’t your job!) and it goes a long way. Especially when there are plenty of other chip shops around.

Estaba visitando a mi familia en Cardiff y decidió comer pescado y papas fritas. Porciones razonables por lo que todo se veía bien. Ahí es donde termina. Masa empapada y muy grasosa, nada crujiente. Piel dejada en el bacalao debajo de la masa y algunos huesos muy grandes en una de las piezas de pescado. Las patatas fritas eran comestibles pero sosas. Ciertamente no volveré.

We've used this chippy numerous times over the years because its the closest and easiest to get to rather than because we love the food. The food is generally lacking in flavour except for the pies. Staff are efficient but not particularly friendly.

Good chips at a reasonable price

I wasn't acknowledged when I went into the shop, until after they had finished cooking. No pleasantries, just a 'yes, please?' Cheap enough, food average, shop clean but dated. Won't be going back.

Disgusting food, sausage was raw had bad food poisoning from this place advise all customers to AVOID this fish shop.

La comida es comestible y la porción es generosa a un precio razonable, pero en realidad eso es lo lejos que va este lugar. No creas que la mayoría de la gente se apresurará a volver para comer allí. Very disappointed. I went in here this evening, I looked in the food range and everything with batter on looked burnt so I decided to have a chicken leg and chips. I asked for the chicken to be cooked in the oil, when I got home I opened the paper and the chicken looked pale and when I cut into it I could still see blood and it was cold. Never mind I thought the chips would be OK, how wrong was I..... They were also cold and they looked like they had been there a while, they looked like scrumps.. Needless to say I won't be going back there agin. If I could give less than 1 star I would

Pero las fichas siempre son papilla en el papel.Las virutas (y cualquier otra cosa) simplemente se adhieren al papel ya que no es "antiadherente a prueba de grasa".Seguimos volviendo, esperando que cambie, pero esta noche fue la misma. Tres bolsas de papas fritas completas cuando tratas de desenvolverlas. Todos se pegan al papel y cuando tratas de rasparlos, el papel se desintegra y se adhiere a las astillas.Así que aquí hay un desafío para los propietarios. my last couple of visits have been very disappointing. fish has seemed not to be fresh. chips are greasy normally cold and often tasteless as iff cooked at a too low temperature. have been ill following one visit, its a shame as this was once an excellent venue that i have frequented since i was a child. i hope they can turn it around!

The cod and chips supplied were not as good as they should have been. There was excessive batter hiding a small piece of cod ( describe as medium). Will not be visiting this place again.

Avoid like the plague! Fish had a very strong ammonia/chemically taste, chips were terrible and tartare sauce they gave us was out of date. Disappointing and DANGEROUS!

Basically, its a chip shop that can't cook chips properly. All soggy and half cooked. The battered sausage I had was hard as a rock. Curry sauce just seems to be curry powder and boiling water. The fishcake didn't taste of fish. I'm getting sick of all these rubbish chippies in Cardiff.

He estado yendo allí por años y la comida está bastante bien, pero el personal es el que me he encontrado. No hay sonrisas, caras y la mujer amarga (con el pelo negro) que no la sartén de las papas fritas no podría ser más brusca si ella lo intentaron. Fui esta noche y sentí realmente ofendido por la actitud y bajo el aliento cuando comentarios pidiendo mi orden.

Disgusting its that simple. Tried it last month and the pie was solid .it felt like it was ancient threw all the food away . gave them another chance tonight and the cheese Pastie was wet at one end and like a rock at the other end .once again unable to eat there food. Has anyone ever had a fresh pie or Pastie from the fisheries.

Quick stop off after visiting in University hospital. Must say for a 'medium' cod it must have come from moby dick ! .All in all an excellent fish supper.

Este es mi chips local pero he evitado en el pasado debido a malos comentarios. Sin embargo, me recomendaron recientemente así que pensé intentarlo. Dried up piece of fish in rock hard batter could not eat will never again use this shop and will go out of my way to tell as many people that I can

Visited here last night to get some food as this is now my new local fish bar,and am i wish i stayed home and made my own, dreadful food. i ordered fish and chips for myself the batter was tasteless and stodgy they cant even be bothered to remove the skin prior to cooking, the chips all stuck to the wrapper and they were greasy, got 2 curry chip trays meant to be one hot and one mild they both tasted identical. bit of advise stay away from this place if you want to enjoy your food. also to add the staff seemed to lack customer service skills. smiling at your customers and a polite please or thank you would never go a miss
