The Ferryhill House Hotel in Aberdeen City

The place was a wee bit busy with some people eating and drinking inside and outside as the weather was nice for a change ( ha ha) . My partner and I met up with my cousin and her partner and decided to go for a bar lunch here as we was in the area, staff were pleasant and polite the menu was nicely set out and the price was reasonable I was £82 for 3 soft drinks and 2 pints of lager and 4 meals which I was expecting to be more but when I got the bill I said to my partner that was less than what I was expecting to pay but I would defiantly go back again

What a fantastic place! Perfect mix of a traditional old building but very well presented. We booked a table to watch rugby then stayed for a meal in the bar so cannot comment on rooms or the more formal restaurant (although it looked busy). Service was great from the beginning, usually got table service for drinks of which there was a good range. When we ordered food it was quite quick to come and was excellent. Lovely afternoon had, will surely be back.

Was there for family birthday only used the restaurant

Friends catch up evening meal in bar Food mediocre , items missing from plate as menu description . Staff brought the missing chilli jam and sour cream in little dishes . Nothing to set this meal apart . But poor value for 17.50 . We looked at the dessert menu but were taken aback at the prices £9 for a slice of cheesecake !! Wow so did not order anything . Plain bar and surroundings . Restaurant prices in a bar . Disappointing won’t be back .

Visited for a staff meal (30 diners) Food was nice, portion sizes varied for our starters between dishes (some huge portions, others seemed on the small side) Main courses were all well presented and tasted good. Each member of the group seemed to enjoy their meal and the ones I've spoken with since have only good things to say about the meal and service.

Held my mother's wake here recently. Whilst it was for a tremendously sad reason, the service provided by the venue was excellent.

Returned to an old haunt for a Friday evening drink. Great service, super atmosphere.

Table of 7, in the bar, and an excellent evening with great food: the chicken gougons were definitely a favourite chosen by 3 of the party, chicken burgers were delicious and a special mention for duck dish which was succulent. Well done the kitchen team.

We booked a table months ago for Christmas Eve specifically in the bar not the restaurant as they advertised as dog friendly. We were turned away on one of the busiest days of the year as they wouldn’t let the dog in. The women actually said “you can sit outside”. Dogs can sit anywhere outside that doesn’t make it a dog friendly venue. They were extremely rude and almost ruined our plans for the afternoon on Christmas Eve. They should remove the dog friendly signage on the driveway. Luckily we got a table at the Great Western which was fantastic food and super friendly staff - go there instead!

Clearly can't deal with large bookings for lunch. The starter of liver pate came with toast that had clearly been made some time before, the main was terrible - monkfish wrapped in bacon was ok though the fish was overcooked but came with stone cold potatoes and unrecognisable brussel sprouts. I ate one and it seemed to me they had been cooked, frozen and then just put on the plate defrosted. Stone cold and a horrible bitter taste. The cheescake was tasteless and had a horrible grainy texture and the ice cream was melted so much it was running all over the plate. My colleagues plates came out all looking different. Some had vegetables, some didn't, some were great and hot, some like mine were almost unedible. Won't be rushing back. Expensive disappoinment.

Enjoyed a very lovely lunch here with my family. Food here is locally sourced, very tasty and served in a good sized portion. Atmosphere was lovely, very relaxed and the service was beyond reproach. Prices are reasonable, too. In all, a thoroughly enjoyable lunch spent with family in a place I would recommend without hesitation.

My son visted this restaurant first time as full time wheel chair user went use toliets provided had ask table of people eating to move so get in ,over year and returning went go toilet only be met by same, people were very nice got up so go toliets ,I find it disgrace and disrespectful to all ,I'm going to return if I find not been changed to law,I will be getting health environmental involved ,not rocket science guys ,move money making table away make proper access ♿

Was quite disappointed with our visit to the Ferryhill. The portions weren't great and, for what we got, we felt they were over-priced. Staff were friendly and efficient. The Cullen Skink was fabulous.

I was very disappointed to arrive and find that they no longer have it's own vegan menu. They said vegan items are included in the main menu,however they have removed the best options they had only just a few weeks ago such as the Tofu Katsu Curry and Buffalo Cauliflower wings. The Main options are now very disappointing, vegetable fajitas or a falafel burger, decided not to bother to left without ordering, a real backwards step.

Sunday lunch was lovely! Only thing I would say was the service was a bit slow but they was likely due to a big party leaving & getting cleaned up! Very reasonably priced too!

This local pub restaurant was a very good experience with excellent selection, food and service. I wos very happy and would definitely come back again.

Our second stay in two years and as enjoyable as the last time. Charming hotel and staff. Not only one of the best hotels we stayed in on our 2 week trip but ALSO the best value for money- and breakfast! I left a jacket behind and they could not have been more helpful sorting its return. Quiet, peaceful and we had a great view from our window over the Aberdeen skyline. Room was too warm but set against all else, a minor point. I lived in A berdeen 15 years and ferryhill always was- and still is- a bit special.

Nice meals for around £20 pp. A good feed. Nice place if you fancy a decent meal and a nice glass of red with family and friends also good for a date.

We have been visiting the Ferryhill for 10 years. Tonight it was awful, we had booked a table in advance and given a tiny table in a corner we did get a move to be fair. The restaurant was so loud and noisy with deplorable language it was disgusting there was young children in the restaurant. When our meal came the fish had been put on top of cold reheated chips when I said to the waitress she asked if I wanted the food replated . I did not want reheated food I wanted fresh food. The toilets were also in a disgusting mess.

Brilliant. The food was excellent quality, arrived very fast and the waiting staff were very friendly to my family. My little boy had fish and chips and the quality was amazing (not just for kids meals! it was delicious) The restaurant was lovely and cool on a very warm day also. Can't wait to go back.

This has been for many years our normal go to place for family occasions and normally have no complaints. Unfortunately on this occasion the food was edible but not up to normal standards. Yes there was 10+ of us but main course was warm at best (under heat lamp for a while I think). Dessert was luke warm at best & I’ve had better at premier inn restaurants! Think we may have to think our go to place for future family occasions.

We stayed here for the night and ate in the restaurant. Unfortunately I was mis advised, despite checking, that the garlic bread was gluten free. It wasn’t yet it was on the gluten free menu. To be fair they didn’t charge for the meal and discounted the cost of our room but I was ill for days afterwards. Take extreme car when eating here and don’t necessarily trust what they say.

Ferryhill House seems to have dropped standards. We went for an early dinner midweek. The menus we were handed were very tatty and had obviously been around a long time. As the menu was limited and didn’t match the online one I asked if that was all the choice they had. We then got another menu (still crumpled and tatty) apparently we’d been given outside menu which doesn’t take so long to make? The scallops starter looked lovely but was completely cold! I told the waiter but he didn’t seem even mildly bothered. At £12.50 for 4 scallops it’s not asking much for them to be warm. The rest of the meal would be rated as okay.

This was my first experience in the restaurant although my friends had been there before. We were disappointed with the service and the meal. No one asked us how the meal was. We ordered salmon and Balmoral chicken- both were smaller portions than we expected. The chicken was quite tough and the bacon hard. Another meal was chicken faijitas which had very little chicken and was tough and overcooked. The faijitas and the salmon were very oily. We waited quite some time for our meal to arrive and when we asked about it were told that Balmoral chicken takes time to prepare! Our cheesecake was delicious but served on hot plates so our ice cream was melted. Another sweet was trio of ice cream which had also half melted. I’d heard so many good experiences of this place so I was disappointed.

Lovely gem in the heart of the city, the Balmoral Chicken was lovely and staff attentive , Love how the Bar area is not dog friendly as the going trend seems to be as not everyone wants dogs around while your eating!

Just back from 2 night stay at Ferryhill. Beautiful clean, spacious room overlooking garden. Quiet room with everything you would need supplied. Breakfast great choice and plentiful. Dissapointing food.
