Slept a night here in the tent on the field of The Ferry Inn. Very friendly people and super tasty food. Highly recommended!

Cracking little pub, will be awesome when summer comes

Good food, service was pretty good but the staff look fed up. The Interior is in need of decorating. Slightly overpriced...

Very popular pub with good pub classics and specials of the day (great fish). Very generous portions. Staff are friendly and efficient. Noise level was particularly high the night we were in, but then it was a Friday. We sat at the bar, which has a cosy area by the fire. All three tables were full and a large crowd were standing around the tables too so that made noise level extra loud and a little crowded around us. However, we have been many times before so know it can be like that. If you want a quieter table then ask to be seated in the main restaurant at the back where the experience is completely the opposite being quiet and spacious. The Ferry Inn is one of our favourite pubs in the area. Well worth a visit.

Good lunch, promptly served. Recommend the fish and chips, and the very original pitta-wrapped burger.

Very nice food, good varied choice and a little different from standard pub food. Good service.

Roast beef spot on (pinking in the middle). One of the few pubs charging £21 which is worth it. Monster Yorkshires and good veg. Pecan pie very good. Devilled kidneys are back which are fab. Ales always excellent and served well. Excellent service. If ordering after 1pm get your pudding order in before your favourite goes.

Very happy with our lunch this afternoon, had a nice starter of deviled kidney, my wife having the prawn cocktail, with us both having the pork belly.

Great service (party of 2). Lovely, friendly staff. Food was delicious. Ordered the devilled kidneys and duck liver pate for starters. Mains was roast beef/pork and steak pie. Both very tasty and filling. Reservation recommended as this pub is very popular.

This is a great country gastro pub (?) with bags of character and simple furnishings. The food is great; lots of choice and good sized portions. Everything is freshly cooked and locally sourced where possible. We make it ‘our place’ when staying in Appledore a few times a year. NYE lunch this time was a fabulous way to end 2023 with friends.

An excellent Christmas lunch in a lovely typically English country pub! Well worth a visit, great beer, lots of choice of gins and wine too.

Lovely venue and nice ambiance, tasty food, good variety on the menu. A couple of meals were overpriced, a bowl of seafood pasta at £26! But generally good value across the whole family’s meal.

Lovely Sunday roast, great service and good value.

Ate here today, service was appalling - staff were miserable & as unhelpful as possible. Food was nice although the roast was pretty small for the price, 2 very small slices of lamb for £22.95. Pie was good although more veg would have been nice, burgers were delicious. Just such a shame the service was so bad.

Always enjoy a meal here. Locals enjoying a pint fire burning in winter & wonderful seating outside in sun on roadside under parasols or a little windy on garden side. Beautifully tender pink beef selection of fresh vegetables could not manage pudding or starter.

Lovely food, to be recommended and we would definitely return again.

The food at The Ferry is always good but from the delicious lunch we had yesterday they have raised their standards still further. The venison was superb and the presentation first class. Staff as friendly as ever and the log fire a bonus on such a cold day. We look forward to returning in the New Year.

Another great meal and experience at the Ferry Inn. Great scallops as always and the loin of venison was excellent. it remains the place to go to in South East Kent and East Sussex and even if you live in London as I do it is worth making the journey. Highly recommend.

Well looked after. Fires lit. Not sure if the top fire is a working fire but would have been lovely to have that lit too. Service was great explained everything and food delicious. Great to see a Seasonal Dessert Menu with no Brownie or Sticky Toffee. Thought about doing different desserts great result

Visited here for Sunday lunch all 25 of us. Booked in advance. Fantastic food & service. Cosy & traditional!

The staff were all lovely and friendly. The service was very good without being too intrusive. I only eat chicken as a roast lunch but often find that it isn't on the menu in a lot of the places we visit. The chicken was delicious with a creamy mushroom sauce. We all throughly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend.

Strange plate shapes and size. The chef must of felt he/she/er had to fill the plate with veg! The meat was good though

Great place to have dinner or a pint but be prepared to pay for the quality you will be getting. Overall a lovely little place and I recommend the lamb as it was delicious.

It’s a lovely pub, and over the past couple of years we’ve visited at various times of the day and it’s always been great. The food was delicious, roast lamb and all the trimmings very tasty. The service was friendly, very quick and efficient. Our only gripe and disappointment was that the roast beef had sold out by the time we arrived at 1.30 pm. We were all looking forward to roast beef and found it rather odd that it had sold out so early. However, we will definitely return and everyone enjoyed it, thank you.

We had lamb roast and apple crumble. Both really nice. The waitress gave me a really bad look when I asked for a serviette with my crumble. Not sure why as the accompanying serviette under the serving dish has pudding on it. We are been several times before and the service is normally a lot happier

We visited on 24th September lunchtime having booked several weeks prior. On arrival we were told there was a problem with the water and therefore there were no vegetables etc provided with the meals. This was very disappointing as we felt the pub could have sourced large bottles of water to cook with or even provided tinned vegetables. No reduction was given to the menu with regard to no vegetables, despite asking for this.

Very good as usual but they need to vary the menu as it is always the same.

Great meal as usual. The bar was very busy due to a private party. Although a bit noisy, it created a great atmosphere.

Our table for 5 was all ready and we were greeted by friendly staff. Very relaxed and cosy setting and an happy ambience. Absolutely outstanding food!

We have eaten here twice for Sunday Roast. Food is good and a comfortable pub. I don’t have any complaints other then you have to eat early as each time we have had very little choice in meats as most were finished/ all gone except; the chicken. Lamb portion was small, but otherwise a lovely meal. We go again but early :)

1st time here & not disappointed. Quite busy with a good buzz about it, good atmosphere, very friendly & attentive pro active staff. Good selection of beers and a great menu. Will definitely be returning. 5 stars.

The 3 of us had a lovely roast dinner. Only criticism was the vegetarian roast not having something like nut roast replacing the meat. The staff were very attentive. Thankyou 😁

The Ferry Inn was serviced by 2 very friendly young men, but the service was very slow, so think they need some more staff. There were only another 2 tables of 4 people eating. The food was exceptionally good (best burger in the world), but the duck was tough and needed a steak knife! Sure just a blip....

Took my family for a special occasion and was not disappointed. Lovely rural pub, exceptional food and service. Everyone left feeling very satisfied and full, will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you.

Lunched with friends, well cooked roast lunch, generous portions and perfectly cooked. Good menu with plenty of choices. Comfortable chairs and no loud music! Will go there again.

Another return to The Ferry Inn which I first visited over twenty years ago when I lived in Rye and it remains the best venue for food and drink in the surrounding area. Wednesday’s visit was extremely enjoyable for me and my companion with a friendly welcome, good service and a great fresh fish meal. Highly recommend to anyone in the Rye and Tenterden area or even further afield as in my case.

Food was good. Goats cheese mousse starter delicious. Seafood tagliatelle delicious. Ferry inn summer salad was more pasta than salad. Ice cream was tasty but three scoops (no wafer, sprinkles or extra fancyness) for £7.50 felt overpriced. Booked online but on arrival told to ‘just find a table yourself’ Online mentioned our occasion was 30th wedding anniversary but was overlooked at venue. Decor a bit tired inside. Staff were efficient. Total meal three courses, fizzy water, small glass of wine and half a beer £92

Table reserved and unfortunately some guests were a bit late which was not a problem. The food is very good. Ordered the charcuterie and pate for starters, followed by the steak pie and seafood pasta. All was very tasty. The staff are very helpful and pleasant, especially Heather.

The food and ale as ever was very good, and the surroundings are always pleasant. The service was rather too casual for my liking, for example it took a long time for anybody to come and ask for our order, although once we had ordered the food arrived in good time. I think the waiting staff would benefit from some customer service training; they were not rude, but rather offhand. I'm not one for over-attentive staff, but this was a bit too far in the other direction if I'm honest.

Went with friends and their large dog after long walk. We had booked a table in the bar area but as the weather was lovely we were also offered an outside table by the canal. Delicious food and really excellent helpful service. We all a fantastic lunch and afternoon.

We sat outside as very hot. The staff were excellent friendly and helpful. The food was amazing so good as we were celebrating a 96 Birthday. Will definitely return.

Such a beautiful setting especially on a warm summer's evening sitting outside. We always enjoy the Ferry Inn but sadly on this occasion due to some staffing issues service was sadly lacking. Sure this was a one off so we will be back.
