Brilliant takeaway tonight from this fabulous restaurant. Much as we would love to have gone in person, COVID restrictions left us with takeaway only. Not a disappointment at all! Great on time safe collection, beautiful food and plenty of it and a real treat. Steak pie was awesome! So highly recommended with great service to boot! Nice one and hope to see you in person soon!

We had a lovely take away from The Exchange last night. Food was great, super tasty! We had ordered a portion of chips alongside our mains and they, unfortunately, forgot to put them in. However, after letting them know and them offering to drop the refund off to my house later that evening, they gave us a bottle of prosecco as a good will gesture! Excellent service! Will definitely order here again!

My partner and I decided to opt for a Valentines meal deal from the Exchange which we ordered online (2x Main Meals, 2x Desserts, Side (Optional) and 1x Bottle of Wine = £30)We picked up our order and when we got home to unpack this, we noticed straight away that they gave us the wrong desserts. At this point we called the Exchange to advise to which they offered to send out the correct desserts and have these delivered to our house.Meanwhile, we started to eat our main meals. My partner had beef olives with mustard mash and veg. As per the photo attached, you can see this is uncooked. I called the Exchange to make them aware of this, the girl I spoke to did not have the best telephone manner and seemed a bit defensive when I reported this. The girl advised this is the way the beef olives are meant to be and should be a little pink inside but clearly this was red raw and not cooked at all. Any beef olives I have ever had from numerous restaurants do not look this. Beef olives should be cooked well, this isn't a steak we are talking about with rare, medium or well done options here.I had a steak sandwich which is arguably the worst steak sandwich I've had. Very very bland and tasted like a school dinner. I could have cooked better myself. Not to mention this was packaged in a takeaway pizza box swimming in a mountain of unnecessary chips. We were advised to package all of the food back up and put them back in their boxes/containers to be collected by the delivery driver. This was extremely strange as we started to eat our food not to mention this doesn't exactly meet covid measures! I'm hoping this was not kept and given to someone else, particularly the desserts. The Exchange offered us a replacement meal and gave us a free bottle of wine but missed out our chosen side. This was a nice gesture, however, this doesn't make up for the poor experience received not to mention the replacement meal was just as bad as the firstIt's safe to say your food is the bog standard typical Greenock food, bland and boring. Rude staff and overall a crap experience to which I will never return. Your meal deal is not worth the money at all and question how you actually price this given the quality is extremely badPlease avoid this below standard restaurant

Lovely quality great food clean fresh 100% worth it would definitely recommend to anyone who loves good food I had black pudding spring rolls . Fresh fish and a lovely tart and icecream. All was WOWED

Over an hours wait for cold vegetables and poor quality meat ( Steak Pie ). Informed the waitress, said she’d inform the chef, last we heard.

Do not book a table here! I called to make a booking for Christmas Eve after a very difficult year for everyone and the service I received was absolutely shocking. The staff member who answered the phone had a bad attitude from the start. She spoke in a rude and condescending manner and spoke to me like I was doing her a favour by booking. When I asked to speak to a manager or someone who had a more friendly manner she informed me that she WAS the manager and that any complaints received about my shocking experience would be received by her and dealt with by her. I am dumbfounded that someone in a managerial position would speak to potential customers the way she did. Let’s me assured that I will never be visiting this restaurant again and I would encourage others to avoid.

Just called in for a quick bite and was very impressed. Good varied selection and great quality food. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back.

From the food to the servers everything was first class, only issue was the managers attitude towards drink. She should check the licencing laws about drink with meal reg youngsters. Made uncomfortable at her "I am the manager" attitude after we cleared with bar staff. No hurry to go back... Would've been 5 but for this..

Myself,my partner and child came in for food. We booked a table last minute and they where able to accommodate our needs. The cocktails were absolutely amazing. We had starters and mains could not fault any of the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend and will be back again.

Dropped in with family whilst visiting Greenock. Staff gave necessary COVID instructions. Clean, efficient and plenty room. Unfortunately we only had a coffee, but such a small order made no difference. We were attended to admirably. I will be back.

Lovely environment and helpful friendly staff. Had amazing delicious food but waited a long time for the order to be taken-45 mins from the time of table allocation.

After a long time at home I, and my husband, decided to have a post lockdown dinner at our favourite restaurant and it did not disappoint. Staff wore masks/visors, there were clear hand sanitising stations, social distancing and a one way system in place. Cocktails ordered as well as our favourite meals, happy days. All hot, delicious and tasty. Cannot wait to return, thank you The Exchange, Greenock!

We had a family dinner here and could not fault it. Food was delicious. Platter for 2 was fab and loaded fries delish. My son is a fussy eater and we asked for wraps as he didn’t want anything from the kids menu. They made this with no issues. Staff are just lovely. Nothing is a bother to them and they are happy to help, even though they don’t stop. We will be back for sure.

Visited this establishment with my friends for a few drinks on a Monday afternoon, I waited for over 2 hours for my first order of drinks to be taken and the member of staff that done so was extremely unenthusiastic and came across snarky. Bored whilst waiting, we decided to go to a local takeout for chips and hour after finishing them we were told by an exceedingly condescending manager to leave as we “broke policy”. Very disappointed with my visit and will not be returning.

Had a great night at the exchange great cocktails ,lovely steak and fish will definetly go back and would highly recommend, realy friendly and helpful staff and fantastic atmosphere.

Highly recommend. Tasty and great value for money deal.... £5.95 for soup and sandwich or sandwich and fries with salad and coleslaw. Comfortable and lovely atmosphere. Service is excellent. Will be back.

Had great cocktails here,probably too many,lovely steak sandwich and fish and chips was sooo big,would defo go back and would highly recommend, nice buzzy staff and atmosphere.

Never a bad meal, always bust, staff, service and atmosphere are all great. The wine bar is a great meet and greet place, also good for after dinner drinks and cocktails

We ate here for a family evening meal. The food was plentiful and tasty. We had Enchilada, Steak pie, Thai Sticky Beef. All were good. The prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality. Soft drinks are also reasonable and not extortionate as in other establishments. We would eat here again.

A little tricky to find for non-locals but well worth a visit. Good range of tasty well-prepared food. The menu itself could be presented in a more use-friendly format. Plastic sleeves with mostly unstructured pages of information on food and drink choices don't complement the ambiance of the restaurant and excellence of the food. Staff are welcoming and friendly but could be a little more attentive in replacing used napkins between courses.

We come here very often our favourite place to dine but every few months I take my little boy and niece in for their lunch and it’s always very accommodating. My little boy is quite loud but he is always made to feel welcome and one of the servers (don’t know her name) girl with red hair has been there the past few times and she is brilliant with him always friendly and talks away and he loves it. Can’t recommend the exchange enough brilliant food lovely staff and great atmosphere

One of the best meals I have ever had. Sticky Thai beef. Very reasonably priced too. My husband and I had three courses each and a couple of drinks too and it was under £50. Excellent

Booked a table the previous Saturday for Friday 1st November as my partners mum was up from Stoke to see her great grandchildren. Mum in law is 85 and insulin dependent diabetes (insulin injections), she is 85 years old. Was told table is for 2 hours which was fine as never take that long anyway.

Called in for dinner and waited, as requested, to be shown to a table. Were told to wait in the bar area as it would take a few minutes to separate and clean some tables after a large party had just left. After waiting for over 20 minutes and when no one came near us to give us an update, we left and went elsewhere. Very poor service indeed. The chap who asked us to wait could have taken our name and kept us informed as to when we could expect to be seated and not totally ignored us. I know this is a popular restaurant with a good reputation but it won’t keep it for long if it treats customers with such distain.

We have been here before but this is the first time since it has been refurbished. The refurbishment is a big improvement since the entry has been designed to eliminate draughts if you are seated near the door. The food and service could not be faulted and it is a pleasure to get real chips instead of the skinny fries favoured by other establishments. My only gripe is that it is very noisy but maybe that is a generational thing.

Went with a friend and both had the steak sandwich which was amazing. The portion was huge and very reasonably priced. The place was fully booked but the staff where very prompt and the food was out within 15 mins of ordering.

2nd time here in a matter of months, good for catching up with friends. My friends have recommended the sticky Thai beef in the past but I don’t tend to choose beef when eating out as sometimes it can be a bit chewy. However in this occasion I decided to try it and I wasn’t disappointed. The meat was tender and the sauces were spicy and delicious. For my dessert I chose white choc cheesecake with Raspberry and it was amazing! my friend chose the sweet potato brownie dessert and it was also delicious and there was a variety of flavours. The service was very good albeit the restaurant wasn’t very busy, the staff were very friendly. We were advised that the table would be required for waiting customers (we had been advised on booking that there was a 2 hour slot) and this was okay as the staff member took our drinks into the bar for us and we sat in there for another hour or so. We will definitely return!

Decent food, service and price but in my opinion there is better locally. When a steak pie is requested you would expect a steak pie! I received what I would have described, steak "no" pie. A 50x50mm piece of pastry in my opinion does not a pie make. I want a big honking crusty top, moist underbelly butcher type pastry. Considering a butcher (i believe) owns the place is unforgivable. Come on chef, get it made, not bought in...

Had a lovely steak sandwich and cocktails great atmosphere and staff are lovely and polite nothing was too much bother for them. Food was lovely and fresh and cocktails are amazing, it is very tastefully decorated inside and out and is very clean. Would highly recommend

Great night out and excellent service from the waiting staff. The food is excellent with a great choice of drinks. I would highly recommend for couples, business or solo visits.

Came here today for my sons birthday 25th, the service is good and the staff ok. I've been here before a few times but not reviewed as my opinion differs from my wife's.... Today we had a few different dishes, my son had the lentil soup to start, which to be fair was exactly what it said in the menu....but smelled funny, unpleasant funny and tasted like salt and pepper had gone on holiday...bland was not undescriptive enough. My wife and I shared the charcuterie....which was ok, although the olive oil/balsamic required the power of a 1.1gigawatt blender to attract the balsamic to the bread when dipped. Next the mains, my wifes pork loin looked amazing but was dryer than an arabs dap, (a dap is a sandal) my son had the macaroni cheese with pancetta....well where do I start...it looked good, it smelt good, it delivered bland pasta with crispy bacon (not panchetta), salt and pepper were still missing. I had the monkfish/prawn jerk kebab with mango and rice. The fish smelt off but I persevered and was ok, the mango was freezing and looked older than my mother...the rice clung to itself like a recovering drug addict...all sweaty and bland, definitely miss the aforementioned salt and pepper. Desert was not attempted. After the initial attentiveness off the staff it seemed a bit mission impossible to get them to provide much service thereafter, my wife called the restaurant we were in just to order the bill from our table.....This place used to be quite good but seems to be declining, which is a shame.

We arrived for a family birthday meal and the table was laid for us and the staff were on hand quickly. The acoustics are bad and it was difficult to hear across the table but then there were other group tables and it was Saturday tea time. The menus were very tired looking A4 folders with polythene sleeves and were the biggest disappointment of the evening. The food was plentiful and very tasty with the speed of service a bit slow, our fault for all ordering different food at the busiest time of the week, the staff did their best to keep up with us and usually succeeded. I will be back at a quieter time because it is a great alternative to chain-pubs but I hope they have replaced those tired 20 page menus.

There's a great choice on the menu, Good big portions too. If there was one criticism, the service is a bit slow. Pop through to the bar afterwards too.

Good food, well presented and tasty. Service a little slow. Music in the bar area started far too early and was way too loud for people at that end of the dining area. But all in all a good experience.

Visited on a busy Saturday evening prior to a cinema outing. Booking is essential for this popular venue. The food is consistently good and well presented. The cocktails are lovely and reasonably priced too. Only downside is, when it is busy, the noise in the restaurant, especially filtering through from the new cocktail bar area can make it difficult to hold a conversation. That's the only downside as far as I can see.

We arrived on a Saturday evening. We hadn’t booked in advance but the staff were very helpful and managed to get us a table. The service was good and the staff attentive.

I did not enjoy a family birthday outing here . They don't do a half pizza / half pasta option like some restaurants . I asked if I could change the pasta that went with one of the sauces ; as a vegetarian I find most Italian restaurants, at least, accommodate this but I was simply directed to the page with limited pasta choices (even fewer for vegetarians) .I ordered a pizza. My suggestion is to avoid this. Topping was tasty enough but the base was dry and tasteless. I'm guessing bought in bases and not made fresh. I had a couple of slices but took the rest to go and it ended up in the bin. The restaurant was very busy and very hot and stuffy. Looks like they have air con but it wasn't on and I think the window was locked but to be fair I didn't ask them to unlock it as the staff were busy. Lunchtime service was slow as usual. All in all a pretty unenjoyable visit.This restaurant is a family favourite because of their fish and chips but for veggies not very accommodating. You can only eat so much mac n cheese . Needs a rethink. I don't fancy a return trip anytime soon.

Great weekday meal with friends, excellent service and reasonably priced. Busy restaurant, the service was great and the food was very good. I had Enchilada and it was fresh and filled with lovely chicken, my pal had sticky Thai beef and she raves about it. Well worth a visit! I must also say that the staff are very hard working when not serving they are making sure that the tables are clean ready for the next customer and not just a customary run over with a cloth they really cleaned the tables!

I wish I had read the review before driving from dumbarton to have lunch here.

Visited the exchange for a birthday celebration with friends, overall the meal was delicious! The vegan option was sweet potato and chic pea curry which was excellent! Food was fabulous and Staff are fabulous !

The starter had grown mould and was told that this was normal.It must have been blackbird instead of chicken as that was the colour .When replaced was told I'll try and get one that was made today.Where is chef Ramsay when you need him?Main courses were dry as a bone,chicken and fish.Rather than complain decided to cut losses and exit.

Booked a table for two on the 13th of April.

We went here for a family evening meal, the food was delicious and the service was fantastic, quick and efficient staff always happy to help. This is my new favourite place to eat.

Went for cocktails around 5.30pm on Sunday. Sat down with my sister in law and my daughter but despite being right next to one another we just couldn't hold any sort of conversation due to how loud the live music was. I asked the bar lady if we could possibly sit at one of the empty tables round the other side so that we could chat but was told no. Love loud music but not so loud that you can't hear yourself speak. Sat outside at the smoking area (we don't smoke) to drink the cocktail we had purchased then left which was a shame, I must say though that the cocktail was lovely.

Three of us ordered this and was it was stewing steak on bread. We did raise it with server who basically told us chef says its minute steak. It wasn't! It was like the inside of a steak pie on garlic bread. Same taste same texture. It was chunks..not slices. Gravy wasn't the issue..was the actual meat itself. No recourse offered. In fact one of our party had this the week before in your place and therefore had a direct comparison. She didn't eat hers either. It felt like leftovers were being repurposed.

Had first visit here today for Mother’s Day lunch. There were 5 adults and one 11 year old and we were seated at a booth, which was a bit too cramped for all of us to sit comfortably. If coming back with more than four people would rather sit at a bigger table and chairs, but it was Mother’s Day and very busy. Other than this the decor is lovely and staff were very attentive.The macaroni and cheese was really good!

I went in for lunch with my granny and aunty. Service was rather slow, but that wasn't surprising as it was quite busy, and the food definitely made up for it.

I’ve visited exchange a few times and the food is always of a really high standard. Service normally great too but bad experience this weekend in terms of service unfortunately. When booking my table for 6pm I was advised it would be required back by 8pm which I understand is standard in most resteraunts now. After eating our starters and mains and waiting to see the dessert menus, we were then told at 7.15pm that they needed our table back there and then. When I explained I was advised it would be 8pm I was told they would see what they could do. I was then told ok you can keep the table but we need it at 7:50. 7.45pm then came and we were told we must now move. Nothing like being rushed away. Not the way to treat customers.

One can easily spend two hours for lunch, it was very busy for a chilly Tuesday.

After my experience over the weekend it will be my last visit to The Exchange. "Excellent service" "Caters for every individual customer" "Can be adapted to suit special dietary requirements and vegetarians" These are quotes from the opening page of the menu, to see full text view photo attached. I understand that there might not be huge numbers of vegans in the area of Inverclyde but that doesn't mean vegan options should be excluded from the menu. Nor does it mean that vegans should be the subject of discrimination from the "Head Waitress" For someone to be in that position, they should have acted in a professional manner rather than just give back answers with attitude and without thought. Saying remarks like, "Do you want me to bring the chef out" in a condescending and degrading manner is totally unacceptable. And because something is "Gluten Free" doesn't make it vegan. If you're unsure what a vegan is, then rather than arguing against a vegan and making snide comments, take a step back and ask the chef what the vegan options are. Was all that I asked, if she could find our from the chef what the vegan options are.

Was ridiculed and belittled for my dietary restrictions. Do not go here if you have special requirements or if you don’t like being made fun of by the waitress

My first visit I was bowled over, this time was good but think I ordered the wrong dish: the seafood linguine is smothered with a sickly sweet Thai style chilli dressing which I found incongruous. My son's sirloin steak was tender and delicious, the bread n olives etc were amazing (especially the sun blushed tomatoes) and the Chardonnay was pretty decent at £21. Good atmosphere and we were lucky enough to be tucked away in a booth.

Was here with my daughter, when we were placing our order the waitress told us about lunchtime special which would save us money. Food hot and more than we thought we'd get. Highly recommended.

Went here on a wednesday evening at 6.30pm booked a table just as well busy. Lovely enormous cocktails cost 5 pounds well impressed. We had pizza choose your own toppings,fish and chips real chips, noodles and duck breast and chicken skewers. Starters of chicken and onion rings too. They were all tasty and good size portions. Including 3 cocktails and 2 pints of lager bill came to 70 pounds. Will def return

We came on Tuesday night for dinner and cocktails, the starters of black pudding spring rolls, and muscles were delicious and my husband loved the king prawn linguine but my chicken tikka masala was mediocre. However the cocktails were fabulous and very good value for money, so much so that we came back the next night for more x

Staff are lovely very friendly and helpful. Great food would highly recommend. Also lovely surroundings.

We had the best night in The Exchange on Sunday night celebrating my daughters birthday. Our meal was delicious, the cocktails were awesome and the service honestly couldn’t have been any better.

The food is lovely the staff are great but the booths are too small to be used for more than 4 people ...... We had requested an ordinary table when we made our booking for 7 adults for boxing day and ended up stuck in a booth with a chair at the end of the table this is unacceptable.When I Saud that we had requested (and been promised)an ordinary table I was told that the only thing they could do was make a table up in the wine bar which we didn't want . Sadly this is the only thing that would put us off from using it again.

Good choice of food always very good quality and a great atmosphere if you enjoy a cocktail this is the place

Visited with my partner on a Sunday lunchtime. Attentive and polite service. Not rushed in any way. Drinking water and glasses brought to table without asking. Food delicious and plentiful. The terrayaki salmon was gorgeous as was the sticky orange cake with cream - no skimpy portion sizes here! White coffee served with tablet. A very nice lunchtime experience indeed.

Having visited this restaurant previously and loved everything about it (and left a few 5star reviews) I was quite disappointed tonight. The food was lovely as always but the service was definitely lacking. We had booked and were shown to our table but after 20 minutes still had not even been asked if we would like a drink or been acknowledged. We had to get a member of staffs attention ourselves. Ordered 3 drinks , only 2 came , after 10 mins had to get staff attention again to get the drink that was missing. 2 meals came out but the third took much longer to arrive. The food was lovely but just felt really let down with the service tonight. The place itself is beautiful and hopefully we were just unlucky as it’s my favourite ‘go to place ‘ when staying in Greenock.

I Was here on Sunday, we where a table of 6 adults one kid. Really nice welcoming atmosphere very well laid out. Service was a little of a mixture lol. We where asked to order drinks three times by three different staff all within 5 mins made it feel a little disorganised. Food was fresh and everyone on the table enjoyed their meals. Deserts where lush too. Only thing I could fault was the service as at the end took ages to get someone to give us the bill. I think this could be easily sorted if the waitresses where given their own tables to care for. Will definitely be back though great food, nice interior, good vaule for money.

Came for a meal and a couple of drinks and was very pleased! Two mains, two desserts and two drinks all of which were very good for just under £40. Phenomenal value for a very good dining experience!

We come here alot. Every second week or so. Tonight it was a shambles. We had booked the table, were seated. Normally drinks get ordered but they didn't. We waited 20 mins before someone came to take our order, for food still no drink order. They took drink order with food order as it hadn't been done. It amazed me that the waitress took the order without writing it done until the order came. My son's was wrong, she gave me a small meal even though I asked for a normal one without salad but this had salad. Bring back the old waitress who I assume is off having her baby. Terrible service.

There were 8 of us. Booked a table which wasn't ready when we arrived so went to wait in the bar but was told my daughter wasnt allowed. Limited starters but mains better.

Been to the exchange on several occasions, with friends, family, my boyfriend. For dinner and for cocktails. The exchange has it all. Very classy, good service, amazing food and cocktails. Honestly best place to go in Inverclyde ❤️

Visited the new extended wine bar tonight. Beautifully done with nice surroundings and great atmosphere. Entertainment in early evening then a DJ. Would definitely return and recommend

Just been with family to the Exchange. This was my first visit and will definitely be returning. Food was great as was the service well done!

Monday 3rd Dec out shopping at Tesco with wife Carol and decided to for eats rather than cook at home. As we had never been to the Exchange decided to give it a try. Was greeted warmly by the staff and shown to a table. Decor/staff/menues all excellent. Food prices are reasonable and the drinks are what I would expect to pay in a restaurant. £3.95 for a small wine measure and £1.60 for a can of soft juice. Would recommend to give this place a try.

This place has a large, diverse menu. The service is always excellent as is the food. I've been here several times and the consistency draws me back. Book to avoid disappointment as it's always busy

Had a lovely birthday dinner with family on Friday night. Food was delicious and drinks were fine. Only problem, they gave a four year old a mock tail in a very large glass. She could hardly hold it and spilled it over herself.

Bookings advised! Very friendly staff, encouraged my little one to eat his dinner, the food was delicious nicely presented, varied menu to suit all tastes. Reasonable priced. Great cocktails in the bar after.. great all round.

Visited for my mums birthday. Staff were attentive, food was gorgeous. I had non alcoholic cocktail which was great. I had the black pudding spring rolls to start with which were great and then had the macaroni cheese which is the best I have ever tasted. Good portion size. There were 8 of us everyone was really happy with their meals. Thanks to the staff.

First time visiting here for a family birthday meal, beautiful exterior, staff/waiters/waitresses were fab and really attentive. Food was delicious. Drinks prices are excellent, overall a fab night.

This was our first visit to The Exchange since it has been extended. The interior decor is ok and the extension is now being used as a bar area.

The people who say the food at this place is good need to get tastebuds.. ate here with wife and kids and not one of us enjoyed ur meal... I tasted each meal and very bland, complained to manager and the answer I got was the chef thinks it’s good.. we’ll that chef needs to go to cook school.. won’t be returning

On Satuday the 6th of October spent a pleasant evening dining at the Exchange. The staff were very attentive and helpful, and atmosphere convival. The menu covered all tastes the prices were very reasonable. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good night out.

Recently the store expand its business with wine bar . Beautiful decorated and friendly staff have to offer good value for money tasty plates. Good spot , near to centre and easy accessible. Lunch times can be busy so booking is recommended .

This was our first visit and feel it did not live up to the reviews. The food was very slow to arrive and we had a show to go to. We were offered a discount because of this, and thanks for that. However the food was disappointing. My medium steak was dry and overcooked, the Carbonara was not nice and the pizzas were just ok.

Large family meal undertaken, staff extremely friendly, nothing too much trouble. Great menu of all different kinds of meal, must say the pizza was to die for. Desserts were amazing and the wonderful range of cocktails and gins just blew our minds. Definite one to go back to on our next visit. Oh and reasonably priced too!

Amazing food with excellent portion sizes. It was my first time visiting and will most definitely be back! Staff are really friendly too
