The English Tea Room at Brown's Hotel in City of London, Westminster

Dear readers, I and my daughter took afternoon tee for adult and for kid. It is really not tasty, scorns were good, all the rest we have left. It has nothing special for kids!! And doesn’t cost this money. Honestly I felt a lack of respect. It is Brawn’s ))) Delusion. Thank you.

Went at the Brown's to celebrate my grandmother's birthday as it's her favourite place for Afternoon tea. The highlight of the experience was the service, we were warmly welcomed by Bianca were she showed us a beautiful table in the main dining area. Simone and Maria looked after us suggesting teas and adjusting to our dietary requirements. The manager's Karol and Akshay made sure we were having a great time. The sandwiches were delightful, freshly made and well complemented by the high quality tea offered. The scones and the desserts were divine, I couldn't stop eating even though I was full. Truly an unforgettable experience and can't wait to visit again.

They had no problem to accomodate her, created a special afternoon tea for her, we were so grateful & it made an extra special day for us. Ambiente fantástico e muito bonito. Estive 15 minutos da parte de fora do salão de chá em pé, sem que ninguém me viesse perguntar se precisava de algo, vários funcionários repararam que estava a espera de algo... O serviço foi muito descuidado e sem interesse em agradar, após servir o chá a primeira vez, ninguém voltou para servir de novo ou perguntar se queriamos algo mais. Sentimo-nos sozinhos a um canto e sem a atenção devida( pagamos 35 libras de serviço). Um serviço caro, comida cara, ambiente de requinte, mas no fim ficamos desiludidos, o dinheiro é igual nas mãos de qualquer classe social.

I was disappointed because I had previously asked if I could add another grandchild to the table to have a Festive tea, but I was informed that a table was not available for 4 persons, however when I arrived it was clear that another person could have sat with us, and the manager even said that she could come, but it was of course too late! The service was on the whole was excellent, however the quality of the sandwiches were poor . The bread was cut like doorsteps and they didn't taste particularly freshly made. The fillings were too sparse in my opinion, and therefore not very tasty. The scones were nice. And the champagne was also good! I thought the cakes were poor, however. On the whole I could not recommend your Festive Tea and I do not think it was good value for the money you charged.

This is our first afternoon tea experience. We loved it. We recommend trying it out when in London in the Drawing Room. The place and people are, too, nice and welcoming.

Beautiful setting, great service, typical tea sandwiches, creative sweets. Very disappointed that we were charged for the festive afternoon tea when we did not ask for or drink any alcohol. The website was not clear. We would have chosen a different setting. We paid £49.00 for alcohol we did not drink. We asked to have this clarified and we were told there was no option because it is the holidays. So if you do not want or drink alcohol you have to pay for it anyway? Not classy.

Fantastic festive tea experience, great service from Lefter, Maria and Akshay. They gave you shot of homemade mulled wine and you can ask for more. The filling of sandwiches were substantial, scones and patisseries were all very tasty, sandwiches and scones are replanishable and they kept coming to ask if you would like to have more sandwiches so you won't go hungry. I'd say it was one of the best experience and will definitely be back for more!

We are a family of four who loves a great Afternoon tea when in London. And our conclusion is that nothing compares to The Drawing room at Brown’s when it comes to AT. The cosy atmosphere, the tasty finger sandwiches, scones and delicious pastries, their selection of champagnes (even a great English sparkling wine!), and perhaps most important: their very friendly, nice and helpful staff. At our last visit, Lefter was “our man”. He is just an amazingly kind person! Thanks for making our Afternoon tea to such an unforgettable experience, Lefter.

First time dining for the afternoon tea in the Drawing Room which definitely won't be the last! Service was super attentive, atmosphere was intimate & warm, and the sandwiches and scones were 10 out of 10! Couldn't finish the cakes even though they looked super delicious. Also big thanks for the staff for doing something really sweet for my birthday! Will recommend for anyone who is looking for a special afternoon tea experience in London.

Brown's Hotel surely set the bar so high for all afternoon tea experiences for me. From its rich history, interior, ambiance, food and drinks to the wonderful service we received from the staff, the newbie in me could not have wanted more. I especially appreciated the attention to detail (they even made sure to take out mayo in my sandwiches because I do not like it) and the patience that the staff extended to me who had to ask recommendations for almost everything because I honestly came in with very little knowledge of what afternoon tea was. Genmaicha and Chai were revelations to me! The sandwiches, the scones (clotted cream!!!!) and pastries were heavenly. The Welcome to London plate was such a wonderful and super sweet touch! Special shout out to Simone and Maria M who both constantly checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed.

Brown's Drawing Room definitely is one of the most traditional and "warm" afternoon tea settings in London. While the Ritz feels touristy/fake, the Cafe Royal just too much, MO, Langham, Connaught and several others too modern and not cozy enough, and Claridges or the Savoy maybe too stiff, this hits the perfect middle spot between traditional, luxurious and still quite relaxed in a hotel which feels a bit like a family business. This might, however, be where the experience lacks. The food is good, just not that special (especially the cakes lack in creativity). The service is really welcoming, just often too casual and not very attentive. The dining room is beautiful, just too public since it is right at the general entrance of the hotel. Actually, sitting close by the door, even by the great fireplace across from it, can be quite annoying since people rush through the dining room to the bar all the time. So try to sit a little more far into the room. There aren't big things to criticize, just many small things that make the place not perfect, but still a great allround-spot if you want to have traditional and fancy afternoon tea in the city for any occasion (especially around Christmas). You cannot make a mistake here, just don't have the highest expectations.

The ambience was brilliant, but I am wondering if this is worth paying more than £70 per person? The best thing is you can have as many sandwiches, etc. as possible, if you are a big eater.

This is our second time at the drawing room and it did not disappoint! By far the best experience from the service, to the food, drinks and ambience. I would like to personally thank Akshay and Maria, and the others of course, for the service. It was greatly appreciated and overall outstanding. We 10/10 recommend the drawing room for an afternoon tea.

My son and I did some research before deciding where to go for tea on our special family trip to London. We chose Brown’s because of the beautiful Drawing Room and positive reviews. We had read that it was acceptable to share a tray of tea sandwiches/cakes between two people and this worked for us due to some health issues in the family. When we arrived we were seated immediately and asked if we’d like water. We said yes please, but the water was never brought over. When it came time to order I asked for two tea plates and we would each have separate teapots. I was told this was not acceptable and the waiter seemed surprised and appalled as though it was rude of us. He said he could accept an order for three sets of tea sandwiches and cake and we agreed. We knew we could not eat that much, but it was too late to walk out at this point. We made the best of it, but the service was awful after this point. I asked for water again and it was never brought over. We were not checked on in between courses and maybe that’s normal, but we just expected better service in such a beautiful place that had such great reviews. The tea itself was delicious, the sandwiches were just okay, the scones with jam and cream were very good, and the other desserts were mostly just okay. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here. It was a disappointment for our family.

It was my first experience of enjoying afternoon tea in London, and it proved to be truly exquisite! I opted for the Afternoon Tea, accompanied by a delightful Rosé wine, which was recommended to me. The tea selection suggested to me turned out to be exceptional, and the staff were remarkably friendly and attentive. The sandwiches and pastries were equally delectable, making it an all-around exceptional place to unwind and savor the moment.

they didn't take us with the pretext that they don't have a table, when the place was almost empty. mostly likely it was because we were dressed slightly in streetware. very rudely in too

A beautiful and exquisite afternoon tea. The staff were lovely and the individual courses, perfect. There was a pianist then a pianist, singer and an accompanying base. A sophisticated yet traditional tea with delicious pastries. Notable were the plum tart, the chocolate stout cake and incredible teas. The only niggle is tea should be refreshed. Otherwise, superb.

I had afternoon tea with my 93 year old grandfather, grandmother, sister and cousins to (belatedly) celebrate my Grandmother’s birthday. The staff went above and beyond to look after us, were so kind to my grandfather who arrived in a wheelchair (even sweetly asking if he still wanted Champagne as he was ‘driving’; they arrived in a taxi) brought my grandmother a beautiful birthday cake and couldn’t have been more welcoming. The cakes and sandwiches were delicious and the whole setting is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots in London. A huge thank you to Charina, Bianca and the lovely team for making it an unforgettable afternoon.

Went yesterday and had the BEST gluten free afternoon tea I’ve ever had . I enjoy it very much so have been to many many hotels , establishments, etc in London and around the country and I can honestly say having to be gluten free doesn’t always make it the most enjoyable eating experience . Browns hotel have put all others to shame literally , with lovely bread for the very tasty sandwiches , exceptionally soft , more importantly moist flavoursome scones and little pastries and cakes that melt in your mouth, absolutely delicious . I would total 100% recommend browns for a lovely afternoon tea eating experience both gluten free and regular , great service too with very professional, friendly , knowledgeable staff .

A fake pianist! I was seated where I could see the full keyboard from behind and as a pianist myself I can tell you that this guy did not play one song the full hour we were there, except for a one brief snatch of ‘happy birthday’. I won’t be visiting again.

It is a beautiful setting for High Tea which is what we made reservations for. I got there before my friend and they were wonderful about seating me early. It is and experience and was expensive which we knew when we made reservations. Service was exemplary. Food and presentation were beautiful. Half way through our relaxing tea, a group arrived, 6 adults and 6 children. They were seated in the same room as us but the adults placed the children at a separate table. All the children were under the age of six. Needless to say, they were extremely loud and disruptive at times. It put a damper on our experience for sure.

We had an amazing afternoon tea here to celebrate a birthday. Karol and Charina made us feel so welcome when we first sat down and Akshay was very knowledgeable about the range of teas and made some excellent recommendations. The sandwiches were delicious and the scones were served warm. The cakes were like individual works of art-the chefs are the best, so talented! I particularly loved the macaron with the candle for the full birthday experience. The pianist was wonderful. Simone took some great pics of our party too. A big thank you to Browns for making this birthday so special for us, it meant a lot!

Our first high tea did not disappoint! I was most impressed with how quickly my questions about food intolerances were answered via email and especially impressed with their willingness to cater to both gluten and dairy intolerances. I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to enjoy an afternoon tea in London with my family, but I did and felt great afterwards. The service was amazing, as was the atmosphere. Thank you! It will be one of our most treasured memories from our trip.

This was excellent. They were so professional. Afternoon Tea was super special here and can't imagine it would be better anywhere else! I did check out other Afternoon Tea spots and the prices were comparable but there is nothing as special as The Brown's Hotel!

Best afternoon tea we've had in London by far. Both the hotel and the restaurant had welcoming staff. Jay and Akshay were very knowledgable about afternoon tea and answered all of our questions about the menu. I recommend the champagne afternoon tea for a refreshing kick to your whole experience. The sandwiches were delightful, but the dessert pastries were a little to rich for our preference. But overall the experience, service and ambience were marvelous. We can't wait to come back with our families next time.

We visited Brown's for afternoon tea as a party of 8 to celebrate my mother's 101st birthday. All of the staff we encountered, from the doorman to the restaurant staff, were extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure my mother would have a lovely afternoon. We enjoyed all of the food and the extensive menu of teas. Delicious sandwiches (which will be replenished on request, as well the cakes), lovely light scones and a fine selection of sweet cakes. We were particularly touched by the mini chocolate tart that was brought out with a lit candle for my mother, to the accompaniment of 'Happy Birthday' on the piano. This is by no means an inexpensive venue - but we are very happy to pay the price for a place that looks after you well, offers excellent food, and provides a sense of occasion for a special event. We hope to be back with my mother next year!
