Just average, I'm sorry to say.

Based on the 4 and 5 star reviews we had a family lunch there. The place is so run down & drab and in desperate need of a major refurb. No draught beers available. Apparently it is due to change hands soon. The roast pork was tough and tasteless. Couldn't eat it. Stay clear for the time being.

A nice old fashioned looking pub,however it had an full atmosphere, as it was so empty. Food was medioca.

Stopped off here for some food was told only had one chef and was gonna take a long wait so we left

It was fairly quiet when we went. The staff were great and the food was very nice. And home cooked.

Poor food, no atmosphere, will not be going again

Brilliant burger, great pint of Guinness and the staff were great

Had the steak, cooked perfect with very nice chips, onion rings, mushroom & tomatoe. The owner/chef spent time talking to us and made us feel welcome. The young lad behind the bar also very pleasent and was happy to help. I would return here again if in the area.

Well done to everyone at the Eagles Head. The food was good and the pub had a nice atmosphere.

Food is absolutely delicious at a very fair price they also met my ask for extras also Staff are very attentive to needs Pub is in a quiet location off main road offers a large car park wheelchair accessible ramp and disabled parking to the front will definitely return Also if you have a doggo they sell frozzys dog ice cream for 2.50 Large range of beers and pudding's also 5*

🐾 dog friendly - so a bonus in my book! They service food till late, which was unbelievably helpful on our road trip. The pub is nice and has a cosy vibe. Everyone was lovely and they were really on top of their service. Would happily visit again!

Local pub, no idea how or why it has 4.5 stars. We ordered a roast, two steaks and a pork burger, were completely stunned with how naff it was. Ordered our food, the young lad forgot our order and it took 50 minutes to come. Pork burger was literally 2 dry patties on a dry bun. With a side paper cup of apple sauce. Roast beef was so dry my wife couldn't chew it. Never seen a roast dinner with nothing green on the plate before. Steaks were okay but one of them was overcooked to death on one half. Godawful, give it a miss if you like food. People could not be lovelier, kind, attentive and well spoken.

Yeah ok - just quiet for a Friday

We were looking for a weekday pub meal to finish off our weekend break, many local pubs to our holiday cottage were closed. We found the Eagles head open with a special menu 2 for £15. Simple pub meals however the food was lovely just what we required, even our dog got a sausage. Overall well worth the visit.

We went for a midweek evening meal and I was very impressed. The Eagle’s Head is best described as an authentic country pub and it’s decor and ambiance may be a little old-fashioned for some, but it has a traditional pub feel to it and the food reflected this. I had a vegetarian lasagne, with sides of chips and onion rings. For dessert I had syrup sponge pudding and custard. The food was very good and tasty and we were served quickly by the attentive staff. The menu is not extensive, but there was a decent range on offer, including a few vegetarian options. The restaurant was fairly busy, even on a wet Wednesday evening, so it is clearly a popular spot. There is a large car park, with plenty of room and the pretty village is worth a stroll around, if weather permits. A proper country pub, which is now becoming a rarity. Well worth a visit.

Last Sunday, we nipped off the motorway as it was very slow moving.... and we found this dog friendly place. Lovely little pub, lovely staff, and the food was beautiful, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was raining heavily outside and we were snug inside with great food x thank you 😊

Great value dining on Tues and Thurs so I'd recommend you book a table. Good quality food and generous portion size. Made us feel very welcome despite them being very busy.

We dined here on holiday after reading the reviews. It was a Sunday. I'm sorry to say it was the worst roast dinner I've ever had. My Husband had gammon which too be fair was OK. I had roast chicken which came with 3 chiken wings instead of chicken breast I've never had a Sunday lunch where the roast chicken was just chicken wings. The service was OK but too be fair it was nearly empty.

Lovely food, prompt service, all staff are friendly and polite. Tues and Thurs 2 meals for £15 deal! Would definitely recommend

This place was raved about as being a great place to eat. Our experience was different. The gammon was swimming in oil, the roast was inedible and part burnt. Such a shame,hopefully was a one off.

Lovely Sunday lunch and great service. Not sure what the future holds for this place, but I think it needs to remain open in the village, for the benefit of everyone....

It looks like on our visit they are new tenants finding their feet. I’m sure it will improve as time goes on. Some of the food was below standard, however the meal was replaced with no questions asked. In general it’s a cracking little pub with pub food 👍

Very accommodating place, but my meal wasn't the best. Only half of my half a chicken was edible.

We stopped whilst out cycling for a drink and sandwich lunch. The outside tables were tatty and the area in need of some TLC. The sandwich was OK. They need to do better.

Had really lovely meal today at eagles head, beef baguette salad crisp but got bowl of chips the beef was to die for with a lovely homemade marmalade chutneys, will be back,

Fantastic atmosphere and incredibly welcoming. Staff are brilliant and friendly, beer is kept very well and the food is excellent. They were also very accomodating of my large group wanting to watch the F1 grand prix, ensuring we had the best table in the house. 10/10 - will definitely be coming back

Saying that I booked for eighteen they performed magnificently with great food. I had booked this as a celebration of sixty years as a Scuba Diving club after having a dive in the local quarry at Capenwray. Thanks for the service everyone had a great time.

New owners doing a great job. We were here in April, where kids ate free! Great food,, but need to address the portion size on the fantastic! salt and pepper squid! Fast, efficient and friendly staff!

Having visited this pub many times over the years and numerous recent occassions in 2022, we looked forward to an Easter meal there with our new dog, with it having been dog friendly previously. We were very disappointed with the new management and staff. Not only was the meal mediocre (at best), the two young men who served us acted as if they didn't want to be there at all and the atmosphere awkward. There was little choice of beers, no welcoming pleasantries or the traditional "is everything alright" at any point.? With regards to "Dog friendly", no it isn't. Having added one single sausage to our order (for our dog) we were shocked to find an extra charge of £4.95, for one sausage. Possibly the most expensive sausage in Chrisendum ! We will not return.

Tried to enquire about a gift voucher twice. Most have a physical voucher to hand over. They didn't. Not a gift then. Think the man i dpoke to thought I was a timewaster so I promptly contacted the Red Well in at Kirby Lonsdale. Incredibly helpful. Popped over picked up beautifully presented voucher to give.

Fantastic food, good value, friendly service

Visited twice during a 4-nt stay in the area. Service, the meals and price couldn't be faulted. On our first visit, the landlord/chef even broiled the fish for my wife instead of cooking it in batter, a lovely touch. Second visit, with daughters and pet dog....again the friendly service, food and portions were fantastic. And being a mere 2mins from Jctn 35 of the M6 (in Over Kellet) makes this hidden gem a beautiful country pub to 'recharge your batteries'. Thank you The Eagles Head.

Had a lovely meal for husbands birthday. Meal was lovely.and plenty to eat . The waiter..barman said it was his first day there and it was only us two going in ..and it soon got very busy ...I think he did extremely well.. although he could have been given some help he was doing the drinks and taking orders . But we will definitely return.

We visited in November when new owners had took over and the food was superb. Visited today and sorry to say very disappointed, it was all hot and come out on time just not as great as our first visit. Service and friendliness was brilliant. Sadly we won't be returning for frozen chips, tin veg and average cafe food

Just had the most fabulous meal with friends at the Eagles Head. The food and service was so good I felt honestly that I had been under charged.Great value for money. Rib Eye Pork was perfectly cooked and the Sunday roast meals were excellent.Deserts and coffee for 4 and the whole meal was less than 70 pound. Will be back again soon.

Previous experiences being good, we decided to dine here for a family gathering and understood it had recently changed hands. Disappointing. Good starters but 1 main course poor and only half eaten and 2 main dishes not what was on menu, lack or absence of meat and majority of dish consisting of pickled onions! - not able to eat and were taken off bill but left 3 people hungry with no main course. Other main dishes better but not outstanding. Will not be returning - what a pity.

17 people came here for our stable yard Christmas do and 11/10 would recommend. Great choice of dishes on the festive menu and, although there were 17 of us, everything arrived at the same time, hot and delicious. Staff were attentive with drinks orders and it was a lovely atmosphere. Little festive touches included Christmas placemats and crackers. Can't speak highly enough of The Eagles Head and will return soon.

Lovely little pub, with nice decor and a cosy warm feel to it. The staff were polite and attentive. 3 hand-pulled cask ales on tap. A perfect destination for a couple to enjoy some time together, will definitely call by again when in the area.

Service was very poor ! Left after two hours ,no food came still . 🫣

Disorganised chaos. Pre-ordered food as requested yet still waited over half an hour for starters and had to ask few times for drinks/water. Main course was supposed to be turkey Christmas dinner. The meat was processed sliced turkey, not much thicker than what you'd put in a sandwich! No seasoning. Salmon was better but everything was salty. Service was so slow we were unable to have desserts as our taxi had arrived and they were not even at a stage where we could take them with us! Maybe it's early days under new management but more training needed to cover basics in table service. The staff were lovely and trying hard but lacked guidance and organization. I hope they manage to salvage this as it's a lovely pub in a lovely place and it would be a shame for them not to succeed.

We stayed overnight in the motorhome for free. We had a "few" drinks and some lovely food. I had a Lancashire hotpot and my wife had a steak pie, which was a proper pie, not a casserole with a lid. Lovely meals and a great selection of vegetables with the meal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly and we happened to have a small private room right next to the bar and had a nice chat with the manager.

Oh my, how helpful, friendly and attentive are the staff here? We were camping near by and last min decided we would eat out. We called ahead as we had 2 dogs with us and wasn't sure they could cater for us, but they gladly accepted and could fit us in relatively straight away. We were seated I a small but comfortable little snug style room which was perfect! The restaurant was pretty busy as it was Saturday evening but food and service were second to none!!! MENU: There was lots of variety to choose from including a nice selection of vegetarian food for myself. It was quick and easy to make our choices as it seemed to have everyone's favourites. And was really reasonably priced. The food arrived and were large portions and exceptional quality! If your after some great, honest, homecooked traditional food, I would highly recommend! 👌

Called at last minute for a table for four and was greeted with a warm welcome and sorted out with a table in 5 minutes, even though the place was full. the food was fantastic and lots of it by the way and it was cooked to perfection the staff couldn’t do enough for us I would definitely eat here again and recommend it

Visited on the way from Scotland to Cheltenham. Very tasty food served with large portions (had lasagne and steak pie). Also took part in the pub quiz which was great fun and provides you with a supper for only a quid per person. Friendly staff, good service, hoping to come back another time and do better at the quiz!
