The Eagle Hotel Restaurant in Highland

Nice atmosphere, seated in a comfortable booth, staff very friendly. Good quality comfort food served hot and within an appropriate time.

We went to Eagle for a pint one day and loved the lively pub atmosphere of this pub. When leaving we made a booking for the following day for dinner. Food was awesome. We would highly recommend a visit to this pub for a pint or a meal.

Traditional bar. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly and courteous staff. Always smiling. Can recommend the sirloin steak, also roast dinner.

Stay at the eagle hotel every year for a week.. Eric & Suzi are excellent hosts go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable.. all staff are friendly & make you feel at home..

Went for a family dinner last night, 31 July 2023. Unfortunately, I couldn’t recommend this place as I was served raw chicken for my fajitas. I mean 95% raw - see photo. Absolutely disgusting and extremely dangerous! Wouldn’t recommend.

Absolutely amazing, some of the best battered fist I have ever eaten!! Would definitely recommend!! They also do gluten free and vegan so everyone can eat!! Can't wait to come again!! Many thanks to Robbie DeVenny who was a fabulous waiter!!

First, even though we’d phoned ahead to book they couldn’t find our booking. They then sat us in a room that’s clearly used as the hotel breakfast room, with half the breakfast stuff still sitting on a table, with a big TV blaring. We had to ask them several times to turn the TV off as it was showing the news which was upsetting for our 7 year old. No one explained the specials or asked us if we wanted more drinks or a dessert. We just wanted to leave which we did after one course. Food was ok. Some improvements needed please to make people feel more welcome on their holidays.

Lunchtime visit for 7 friends having booked in advance. Lovely lunchtime fare - we all had sandwiches, toasties or starters rather than main meals but we all really enjoyed our food. Service was excellent and we sampled a good range of drinks from the bar. Recommended definitely, thank you for a lovely visit.

I went here for a meal with my mother while on holiday. We arrived for an early dinner and although the dining room was all reserved there was tables available in the bar end. We both ordered the macaroni and cheese. I chose with garlic bread and the other with chips. Delicious. We also had a dessert. One cheesecake and a trio of ice-cream with sadly I couldn't finish. The prices were really reasonable and the staff were friendly.

We stayed here for just one night whilst travelling in Scotland. The rooms are basic, clean and functional but the bed was very uncomfortable. The restaurant lacked any real atmosphere but it was packed out so I guess they must be doing something right. However I must say that the food was pretty good.

Pretty grim dinner, roast beef dinner with all the veg and potatoes, no gravy on the veg when asked they didnt have any more gravy.Think it was all frozen and then microwaved and chicken tenders and dried up chips. Told the waitress it was awful she just cleared the plates without a word.

My wife and I enjoyed a well cooked meal in friendly surroundings at this restaurant. We had the Highland Chicken, which was well presented and everything was cooked to perfection. Some great local ales on tap as well and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend eating here if you are in Dornoch.

Decent bar food in a village where this is not to much choice of this type of food and price bracket. We also stayed in the hotel overnight and rooms were basic but clean and all you need for a overnight stay. Would stay again

Recently had a staycation in dornoch. Booked a table for 3 in the eagle. I had the curry, my brother in-law the steak pie which we both enjoyed. My sister had chicken tenders. Wrong description, processed chicken in a nasty coating, flung on a plate with a few potatoes and salad...a couple of leaves of lettuce and 2 slice of tomato. A big let down and don't think we'll be back.

When we said we were planning an overnight stay in Dornoch, a friend advised that they had stayed at the Eagle Hotel previously and it had been fine. So armed with this recommendation we booked an overnight stay there with breakfast.We were slightly confused when we received the confirmation that breakfast would be delivered to our room in a bag, but we live in strange times ;o))The hotel is located on the main street in Dornoch, and just a short walk from the central square. It’s fairly flat, and there are some nice walks nearby.Although we arrived 20 minutes early, check-in was quick, efficient and very friendly.Our room was located on the first floor and overlooked the main street at the front of the hotel, but the traffic was very light and the double glazing ensured that traffic noise was kept to a minimum.We didn’t see an elevator/lift, so if you have walking difficulties and are planning to stay there, it might be worth checking with the hotel first.The room was large, with predominant brown tones. An electric kettle, with cups and fixings for tea or coffee were supplied.The en-suite came with a large bath, which had an overhead electric shower. My only comment is that the seat didn’t fit the w/c and wasn’t tightened down properly, making it an “exciting” experience when you needed to use it in earnest! We booked a table for dinner, and although the food was very tasty, it was more pub grub that fine dining.There is also a public bar in the hotel, which unfortunately was directly below our room, as we could hear the clientele laughing and talking until just after 11pm.However, the king sized bed was very comfortable and we both had a good night’s sleep.The breakfast in the bag:As a consequence of the covid-19 pandemic, the hotel devised a way to serve guests with a hot breakfast, without the stress of personal interaction: breakfast in a bag!When we checked-in it was explained to us that we could have breakfast in the dining room, or order our breakfast to be delivered in a bag to our hotel room at a time of our choosing. We chose the latter option and were absolutely delighted with our hot breakfast in a bag. Options included: selection of hot filled rolls, croissants with butter & jam, fruit juice, fruit, napkins etc. As the tea/coffee making facilities were already in the room, this was quite an unusual experience, but a very enjoyable one, none the less!

Impromptu visit on a Sunday afternoon after a wander around the shops along the road. We were actually looking for somewhere nice for a coffee and a scone and ended up having a 3 course lunch.Glad we made that decision or I'd have missed out on the lovely lasagne. That would have been a real tragedy.Decent prices and friendly service. Was good to be able to sit outside during these times. They did seem on top of hand sanitising and social distancing inside as well though from what we seen.Will visit again if I'm back in the area, worth it for the lasagne alone!

Had a one night stay in this lovely small hotel on the main street in Dornoch. It only has a few small rooms but ours was immaculately clean and fresh inside. Although the ensuite was quite small, it was again very clean and fresh.Our welcome was wonderful and we were accommodated with our vegan breakfast request. All Covid19 precautionary measures were in place and explained fully.Lovely place, good value.

As we’ve moved into the area we have eaten here a few times. The great thing is how friendly and welcoming it always is. The food more that backs it up though. Very nice pub food, always well prepared and offering excellent value for money.

We went 4 adults and a child, child menu had a good selection and a free scoop of ice cream at the end. 2 adults ordered a curry and the other a fried chicken dish with rice. Sadly neither of them enjoyed their meal it tasted as if it came out of a jar. However me and my husband ordered a steak and ale pie and the portion filled us up and tasted really good. So I would recommend the pub food in this restaurant over curries and such. The staff were very friendly and helpful however service was a little slow due to them being very busy with the 50% off scheme in place.

Visited the beer-garden of the Eagle Hotel with our 2 dogs, who were offered bowls of water as soon as we sat down! Great, friendly service. Drinks came quickly. A vegan option was available (though not on menu) and was very tasty and filling! The fish was on the small side, but was served with plenty chips!
