Lovely pub but the waitress service was terrible ! Rude and looked down on customers ! My family and I were so disapointed !

Fantastic food and service. Lexie, Nicola and Tamsin were all so welcoming as was the rest if the team. Will 100% be back. Really lovely place to eat as food is so so good every time we come.

We came here for a family meal a few weeks ago - the service was amazing, the team are lovely and welcoming. We had a main and a pudding each. the food was well presented and tasty. We then came back again last night for dinner Yet again a lovely evening - Lexie was our server again (lucky lady) and she was kind and helpful and indeed a flipping treasure!! We look forward to coming over again soon

A friendly and efficient pub restaurant with lovely upmarket decor and good food. We find ourselves coming back here as it is consistently good with a nice surrounding and atmosphere. Abi served us today and both the food and service were excellent. Thank you - we will be back!

We came in for a relaxing dinner on a Friday night, we had fantastic service from Mel who had the most amazing customer service and really made our night. The food was gorgeous, honestly couldn’t fault it. The restaurant was busy, yet the food came out in perfect timing, really tells us a lot about the service and staff. Great location and ambience but food and drinks were a let down, such as shame for such a nice venue. This is the second time in a row we have had issues but this time even worse.. I hope this review is taken seriously it is honest and to the point... we used to be regulars here and want this to be addressed so us and others come back like we used too.... From the start we had to chase our olives which took 35 minutes to arrive after we asked where they were, it wasn't even busy at this time, if we hadn't have asked I'm not sure if and when they would arrive.. Starters were very nice but then it all went downhill.. Fillet steak was cold and chips luke warm, onion rings stone cold.. exotic mushrooms were two small cold slices ... not exotic at all The Salad main we asked for feta cheese as an extra, 4 measly cubes and the salad that was 90% watercress.. not a proper salad and at £16.50 that is unacceptable, Does the head chef check everything that leaves the kitchen? We saw a large table opposite complaining to the manager but as it was happening at the same time so we reluctantly let outs go, in hindsight we should have complained and sent one of the meals back. then... Cheese and biscuits, well 3 very small bits of cheese for nearly £10 a absolute rip off.. Then ordered liqueur coffees, one stone cold and tasted like water with no alcohol so sent back..replacement was ok but why did this happen in the first place Paid bill didnt realise till we got home that we had been charged 2.25 for a soda cordial we didnt order.. we took a copy on the phone as a receipt so again another issue overcharging customers so please check your bills thoroughly. Whilst waiting for the cab went to bar had two cocktails, barman didnt make in front of bar which was strange, well i know why..one was just awful and was just soda water, sent back , replacement was better but not a proper cocktail like they used to be, something is not right here and i suggest your barman makes them in front of the customer, seems to be an issue here that the manager needs to address urgently, coffee and cocktail lacking alcohol so there is obviously a problem Overall totally unacceptable. i realise new staff are being trained and we took this into consideration.... but there are major errors all over the place here and need management need to take ownership to seriously address this as you will lose many customers until you get this under control.

Tonight was my fourth visit to this pub/restaurant. Once for a birthday when we were a large group and had very good service and food. Once in a couple with my mum at lunchtime when the service was very slow. Once for a work do at lunchtime when the service was shocking. Missed food, wrong food, slow slow slow service and finally tonight. Gorgeous venue although the toilet decor is grubby and not very fresh smelling (damp smell). Great atmosphere created, manager is very welcoming. All good 👍. From the beginning three dishes are off (it’s Saturday … what are they going to do until Monday? Better ordering and planning needed) Disappointed as I was looking forward to the lemon sole. Lots of other choices so not a night spoiler. There was an error taking our order so two of us ate and the other two didn’t until we’d finished. The wrong meal was prepared instead. There was a ‘sorry’ from the waitress (errors happen I understand ) but what really annoyed me was that the Manager never came to say anything. After we were all finished I asked for the manager. When he came he immediately apologised and took the two meals off but that visit to the table should have been done without asking. In the end the food was lovely, the night wasn’t spoilt as desserts were had together, however, again 1 was forgotten but thankfully a cold dessert is a quick fix. Coffees were brought before the desserts but at this point we were just glad to get what we asked for. It all sounds very petty but these days a meal out is an expensive undertaking and service is so important. I feel I have been fair in not judging on one visit I won’t rush back. Sorry 😞

Despite being a very busy Friday evening the service was prompt and excellent with the staff (regrettably I cannot remember her name) being attentive and friendly throughout. The food was first class and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

I must start by saying we are regulars here. Largely everything usually is ok, although I have long complained that the chip portion is too small, which would cost pennies to rectify. Celebration for a family birthday. They’d run out of two items we wanted....

I had the trio roast. Bottomless gravy? None offered and nobody around to ask for extra. Pork? Two inch sized pieces of pur fat with a slither of meat on one piece. One carrot, one parsnip, miniscule amount of cabbage that was mostly stork and no stuffing. My wife ordered the Ribeye steak and was not given a steak knife which I thought would have been an obvious thing to offer.When it came to dessert, my wife and I were quite full so opted to share a dessert which was frowned upon by our server. Dessert came and no spoons offered!My wife ordered a another soft drink and the server bought us two after me having said that I didn't need another.Overall, I understand that the restaurant was busy but this is no excuse to miss the most basic of things. Needless to say, no tip left as it had not been earned.

Came in for lunch the other day as we where in the area and it was great! We where seated by the manager and where instantly told what wasn’t on the menus. Our waitress came over shortly after and took our drink order, she was very polite and had a lovely sense of humour. When she took our drinks over she dropped one but was very apologetic and was quick to get a new one so this didn’t bother us. She then took our food order straight away. The food was excellent! Couldn’t recommend it enough, the prices are high but the quality of food is worth it. The waitress was very attentive, even while it was busy, and made sure the food was okay once while we where eating and then once again when we finished! We then revived the bill which had a hand written thank you on it, we found this really personable. Couldn’t have asked for better service! We will definitely be coming back if we are ever in the area

Came for dinner with my family and was greeted nicely by the manager. Food was beautiful but the service wasn’t what I was used to with PCP. It took a long time for the front of house to take our food order. The girls need a lot more training and luckily my family were patient. Something should be done about the way the front of house present themselves as they did not reflect the high standards that PCP are about.

We decided to stop here for a bite to eat as we were in the area, checked out the menu on happy cow first. Looked ok. We didn’t book. We ordered drinks and food. Good service from waitresses. We were really disappointed with the food and also the cost. Our plantbased burgers were under cooked, pink in the middle- not sure if they are meant to look like that- replicating actual meat, but still felt undercooked and raw. The salad was a decent size, would be good if fries and salad came with the burger for 14.50 not sure how the fries weren’t vegan or couldn’t be made to be, but salad and burger wasn’t enough.The cauliflower wedge dish was very small for £14.50. The dish was a side size or starter. Needed more grains with it and maybe veg/salad. The polenta cake again we felt was so expensive for a small slice and some custard. We also felt this had been reheated in a microwave, as was hot in the middle. I appreciate things need to be done quick, but not when it £7.25!The staff were polite and good and the place inside was lovely. Just so disappointed with the food and cost.

Came here for a special meal with five friends on a busy Saturday evening. Eventually someone took our drinks order and then after 30 minutes a waiter took our food order. That was OK and when the food arrived it was great. Then we had to wait an eternity for the desserts. OK they arrived and were very nice. We had coffees and then we were ready to go. But the waiting staff ignored us and we waited another age for someone to give us the bill. This soured what was a great evening. I won't return.

We were a group of four friends and chose The Duke’s Head because some of us had previous good experiences. The pub was very busy and had live music on, so a lovely buzzy atmosphere. We were offered a booth at the back, which was very comfy and settled in happily. However, we were then left to ourselves with no drinks order being taken for about half an hour. When our order was taken we then waited for about another fifteen minutes and then everything arrived at once. This was a bit annoying as two of us had ordered cocktails to have before the meal. I really think that if restaurants are prompt with putting drinks in front of customers, people are happy with a bit of a wait for food so that would be an easy fix. The food was ok, three of us liked their meal but everyone felt their food was overpriced. I had the king prawn and crab linguine and got a bit of a shock as it had a huge amount of red chilli in it, cut roughly into large chunks, so at least I could pick it out. No-one came to ask if our food was ok. No-one asked if we wanted any desserts. We had to flag someone down to ask for the bill and after a while someone then appeared at the table with a card reader but no bill. They then went away again for a while to get a bill and three of us had to leave the other to sort it all out because our cab was waiting. I really wasn’t impressed and am disappointed because I’ve had some lovely meals here in the past.

Atmosphere, decor, food was all great. What let’s this great place down is the service is pretty dire. Took 25 mins for our drinks to arrive once ordered (and some were missing), another 15 before someone took our order, and everything else after was just so slow with little to no interaction with our table from any of the staff. some of the staff were so deadpan and looked so miserable and beyond bored when speaking to us I really don’t think this is their field of work (and we were a nice friendly no trouble bunch I can assure you!) . Everything just took so looooooong, nobody really checking us if we needed anything, and we all honestly lost the will to live. Real shame…..we just wouldn’t go back and put ourselves through that pain again!

10 of us went for a family meal we were greeted with you only got 2, 1/2 hours to eat , the Service was very slow and we wasted time waiting for them the mains are very over priced .I would not recommend it or be returning

Nine family members came to celebrate a 21st birthday. The initial service was sadly lacking in efficiency and one of the glasses was found to have a large, sharp chip on the rim. There was one starter which was missing which delayed the serving of the main meals. Some of the food was inedible due to being cold and some due to being burnt.We will never return.

Visited to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday, good food except for the crab fishcakes, was disapointed just it just tasted of potato. Overall very good, Tom our waiter was very professional and attended to our every need.Our thanks to Clare and all her staff, will visit again....

Great atmosphere well decorated, but sadly disappointing food and customer service. Incredibly limited allergy menu (no gluten free bread!) menu not updated with changes, lots of staff but no interaction and slow service - we received 2 bills but no card machine! Disappointed was such a treat to go!

We came for a Sunday roast as my partners parents were here to visit. I must say I was quite disappointed with both the food and the service. The three waiters seemed run off their feet and half the time were not aware what was going on, no awareness of the menu and couldn’t remember what we had ordered. Appreciate the restaurant industry is really struggling with the lack of experienced staff available and this was really obvious here. In terms of the food, dry and chewy roast potatoes, no gravy, undercooked veg & a rubbery Yorkshire. We will be back as we love this place. Just hope they can improve soon.

On arrival the hostess made comment about what I brought with me for my two year, which made me feel they weren’t keen on children. While the pub is decorated to a good and nice standard we soon learnt all glam and no idea.Ordered drinks but hostess clearly didn’t listen as these were wrong and took an age to arrive.Our waiter very nice chap and my wife asked if possible could she have a chicken burger, even if it meant using the kids chicken and replacing the meat burger. The fear in the waiter face knowing he would have to asked the kitchen.This was a no and clearly to difficult so we then went for the half chicken and told they didn’t have this. Why is it on your menu or maybe tell us when we sit down.A roast chicken was ordered and it we as dry as the Sahara dessert. We then ordered the children chicken, peas and chips and then told we couldn’t have both and we had to chose chips or peas. We asked the waiter why and he said he has no idea why we aren’t allowed both. I had the so call dirty burger and which was just a patty and meted cheese and a very toasted bun. Again for over £16 it was embarrassing food to serve. Our son then cried for all of two minutes as he was told to eat his peas, and for some reason the hostess decided to stand behind him staring making it all very awkward and again made me feel children aren’t welcomed on a Sunday afternoon! The prices where a joke for the food and all I can say is stay away!

OMG this place has fallen right off the rails. Worst meal we have had in ages and the staff were just useless and that is being polite. We came for my sister's birthday celebration (6) of us and all of us were dissatisfied with the terrible food and service. To top it off it worked out at a very expensive night out for what we got. Wont be back!

Not one member of the waiting team smiled at us throughout the entire time we were there. We got seated early and asked what we wanted to drink as we were seated but then it felt like ages for the drinks to come, we asked and we just told ‘there was a back log’. We ordered staters and our mains came while we were still eating our starters, mildly annoying. We then ordered wine as our mains arrived and it took about 10 minutes to arrive, we were trying to halt eating our mains for the wine to arrive. I would have asked about it but everyone was so unfriendly I didn’t want to! Everyone working there looked so unhappy to be there and like it was such a chore. Doesn’t make a happy atmosphere, we will not be returning! So many amazing other pubs locally! The star lingfield, the Wiremill, the red barn, much happier staff and better food!

Very disappointed, to start with on the booking I made it clear that there was an orange allergy, when our food came out my partner had to ask again to make sure it was safe to be told that the stuffing does contain orange!The food was not what I expected from all the great reviews. Potatoes were dry, vegetables were hard and the service was not that great.

Very disappointing. As a family and with friends this has for many many years been our choice to go to for all occasions and never been disappointed.However the last 2 years every visit has left us feeling short changed, totally frustrated and the last time, angry, at the change in attitude by those that lead this restaurant. Customers are treated fine until something goes wrong and then the attitude changes. Dismissive about quality and content of dishes when you’re served something completely different from the menu. Unbelieveable. It is no surprise that the customers are disappearing. The restaurant is practically empty, no atmosphere.A sad day, but we will not return and mourn the impending death of what was a great place to frequent

We came up to have a dinner on the Sunday evening. We drove up from Brighton way as we had previously lived near the restaurant and used to enjoy it. It has massively deteriorated. We booked well in advance and were looking forward to our meal. When we arrived we were taken to our table and immediate asked what we would like to drink, We had barely sat in our chairs. We asked to look at the menu and to come back shortly. No one came to our table. We tried to ask (flag) for service but due to the high volume of noise no one would come over. The fact menus in front of and no drinks would have been a give away. After waiting half an hour for any type of service we left. We will definitely not be returning. Awfully disappointing and a waste of our time.

The service rivals and exceeds most high end places in London. Stopped by for Sunday roast on recommendation at the hotel. The entire experience was very pleasant. The staff genuinely welcoming. In overall the menu was versatile. Would definitely recommend! And will return!

I came here with my boyfriend for an anniversary meal. The food was absolutely delicious! So much so that we had 3 courses which I haven’t done in a long time! I highly recommend the ‘Pornstar martini eton mess’ which was so tasty! Great service and felt very welcome. We will visit again in the future :)

We have been here several times and the services they provided always the top notch. On our last visited we were so happy. The food was really nice and fresh and cocktails were amazing, well recommended for bloody marry 😊

This is a difficult review to write not because the venue had anything wrong, far from it! but it was the day I said farewell to my dad.From the bottom of my heart I can't thank the staff and especially the manager (Luke) for making my dads wake the very best it could be, food, ambience and the professionalism was above and beyond on such a difficult day. Hats off to you all, I couldn't of asked for more! a perfect venue for any family gathering.

My husband and I had a very disappointing experience here! It was a very hot day so we sat outside but the traffic noise was terrible. We ordered bread and olives to start with but were told after a bit that it was not available! For the main course we had the Sunday roast which was a disaster. They came swimming in gravy, and the whole meal but especially the vegetables, very poorly cooked and badly presented. It appeared to me like a leftover from the previous week which had been reheated with lots of gravy added to it! The sirloin beef was not at all like the good beef I was expecting. Maybe it was the chef's day off but certainly not of a standard I would have expected.

This is a great find if you happen to be in the area, I honestly give it 5/5. Great decor, very welcoming, great atmosphere and great menu. If you have any gluten and/or dairy allergies you will be more than fine here.Honestly, you must try it.Michael from the Czech Republic who served us was great.

Went here and was disappointed we were rushed through our meal as the staff had a "meeting" at 9.30 and a sign appeared on the front desk saying they were shutting at 9... we were told last orders whilst finishing our mealHad we been told this on booking we would have cancelled as this was too rushed for our liking and if you want to retain customers you need to treat them a lot better.They had no steaks on the limited menu but had a Rump on offer if we wanted itThe starters were nice but the main chicken dish was small and bland.Afters was nice but rushed as we were told it was closing.We spent over £100 on the meal and over £20 on cabs... will have a rethink in the future.

We came for Fathers Day, had not been here before. I thought it would be your standard boil in the bag pub food - but how wrong I wasStarters were superb, I had the Trio Roast for mains, delightful; and the Black Forest Bombe for dessert. Excellent service from the young team, including the extra touch of bringing water to my dad outside after he felt slightly unwell

The venue and food is typically good but on the last visit it was cold. Every time we go the service isn’t great. It’s slow and not always right. Improve the service and make sure it’s hot.

Visited for Father's Day. Set menu for adults and kids, choices were great. Portions were ample and the food was very good quality. The kids portions were also ample. Overall very enjoyable visit.

We came on Wednesday last week had an amazing time, after a long lock down and it was simply the best and better than all the rest sorry to quote a song. Luke was funny and charming and ever as inviting, along with our waitress Dana sceptical service as always we think you guys are great.

After having some truly poor customer service a couple of weeks ago (new waiters clearly not being trained and usual manager wasn’t there to oversee) we decided to do a takeaway so at least we got the food and don’t have to be asked to ‘drink up so I can take your glass’ at a £200 meal. They manage to fudge up the takeaway service as well! At around 4:45pm on a Saturday we ordered a 3 course meal for collection at 7:30pm. I arrived promptly and I was told that they didn’t have one of the puddings we had ordered. If I was a betting woman I would have said that they had them and then sold them since we ordered at 4:45pm rather than keeping for our order, but hey, I’ll give the benefit of the doubt. I said ok, I’ll have a crumble instead, of they pop to tell the kitchen to make one for our order. At 7:40pm and I still don’t have any food, I enquire as to how long it will be and say that I am concerned that the rest of our food was ready for the 7:30pm pick up time and that I am worried that it will be ruined. I was told “not to worry, it’s just come off the pass”. This was possibly not true given that when we got home (less than 0.25miles away!) the rest of the food was cold, and the calamari and breaded chicken was soggy and ruined.

What’s happened!! The Dukes Head has been our ‘go to’ pub for several years so headed there last week. We were so dissapointed, it was terrible. The staff were all in their teens and although were sweet enough, hadn’t got a clue! It took 3 times of asking for someone to take our drinks order and then another 2 times of asking where our drinks were, before they turned up about 20 mins after we arrived! And then they’d forgotten the water which eventually came after asking for that twice! As for the food, we’ll it just shouldn’t have been served. We all had different roasts and the meat was so dry, it was inedible. The veg had clearly been cooked several hours earlier and left under the heat lamp and the roast potatoes were so dried out we couldn’t cut through them. Even though we all left at least half our meals no one asked if our meals were ok and as we were with friends we decided not to make a fuss and just left no tip. Where’s the lovely female manager that ran the place like a tight ship??!! Bring her back and get your act together Dukes Head!!

I went with two of my best friends as our first meal out after all the COVID restrictions and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was Luke, who made excellent recommendations of both food and wine, was very attentive, demonstrated lots of patience but most notably made us laugh all evening. The food was exceptional. We all had scallops to start and they were cooked perfectly. I had a nourish bowl (a recommendation) and my friends had Asian duck salad. All main meals were delicious and the chef also cooked prawns for us off menu. All in all a very enjoyable and memorable evening.

We went to the Dukes Head for a post lockdown meal to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good, really lovely scallops and calamari to start, followed by chicken Milanese and the seafood pasta which were both great! The staff were all really lovely and the GM Claire was really helpful when we asked if we could move tables. A great evening out thank you, we will be back again soon.

Where to start I dont know, safe to say through we came to celebrate my step daughter's birthday at the Dukes Head and not only was the service very casual and unproffesional but the food was well below par for expensive pub food. It was a ruined opportunity and celebration and for all the glitz and glamour the product overall is just so so poor. Travelling from Horley especially was a waste of our petrol too. In future we will stick to our local pubs which may not have the look but they have the right price and decent food for the money.

Had a very nice lunch here during half term with Grandpa, Dad, 14yo, 12yo and 10yo. Excellent food enjoyed by all. Attentive pleasant service. Funky decor. Allowed us to take home doggy bag when 10yo's eye were bigger than her stomach. Felt safe from a COVID perspective.

We used to come to the Dukes Head many moons ago when we lived in Copthorne. We recently returned with friends since we moved to Horsham and although the place looks inviting if not over the top tacky the food was go awful. Our mains turned up tepid at best. Our roast was tough as rubber boots and the manager was unavailable to speak too. I get that we are in the midst of a pandemic but come on guys this was a really poor show and we definately wont be back. Really dissapointed!

I don't know why we keep going back, I think because we hope it will be better. Food, that was available, was good. But so much was unavailable on the menu that it became a joke! Service, was awful. Staff just can't be bothered. Either they don't need custom or they just don't care. Atmosphere is awful. I'm one of the 'hate it' group of the new interior, but I can overlook that if the atmosphere is good. Cold and impersonal and we won't be giving it another chance. Much better places close by.

Went in for lunch, food was so tasty, the service was excellent! Staff was so friendly and were always on hand to make sure you were taken care of.

We visited this restaurant in response to their offer of 50% off mains as we try to support our local businesses.Since we last are here the restaurant has been extensively made over and now has a very modern atmosphere that you will either love or hate. The entrance has been revamped and now has a huge open fire bowl with a roaring log fire. Very welcome on a cold wet night while you wait for a member of staff to welcome you. We were thoroughly toasted when our booking was checked and we were eventually shown to a table.The make over gives the appearance of breaking up the large restaurant areas into smaller more intimate spaces. Large areas of floor have been carpeted and soft furnishings introduced which deadens the sound and makes conversation much easier than previously. Lighting now features very modern low power LEDs which is certainly atmospheric. Just make sure your phone is fully charged so you can use the torch to read the menu as light levels and senior citizen reading capability are definitely not in sync. A side effect of the fire is an all pervasive smell of wood smoke highly reminiscent of days spent around a camp fire. You will either love or hate the atmosphereOnce seated we were given single use menus and after a short period our drinks order was taken. This took around 10 minutes to arrive and in line with common practice we were asked to take our drinks from the server’s tray. I often wonder how the drinks can be COVID safely placed on the tray by the staff, but cannot be removed by them.Our food order was taken and was served very promptly. I opted for my usual cod and chips. When it was served it was nicely presented with a crisp, if a little oily, batter on the fish and excellent chips, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Portion size was generous. We were offered condiments and our server checked that everything was to our satisfaction. One minor gripe is that when the cutlery, condiments and napkins are brought to the table only small cocktail napkins are provided which fulfil no useful function when dining.Plates were cleared when we had finished eating and we were offered dessert. My wife decided to try the baked Alaska and this was quickly served. Unfortunately, the brief passage under the blowtorch on its journey from freezer to table while caramelising the topping had no effect on the rock-hard ice cream that was impenetrable to the spoon, no fork was provided and for once no-one was around to ask. Service was generally very good and the small number of staff were attentive and ensured we offered drinks when glasses needed refreshing.Will we visit again? On the positive side the restaurant is adhering to all COVID measures which gives a feeling of security, the main courses were excellent and given the circumstances service was very good. On the negative side the low lighting levels make reading menus virtually impossible, and the smell of wood smoke lingers on your clothing. Desserts straight from the freezer and a lack of attention to detail such as napkins and cutlery mar the experience. We will return at some point as the restaurant is within 5 minutes drive, but there are other establishments that offer a more satisfactory option

We both had roast beef which was cooked just right and there was plenty of it, very tasty. We also indulged in a pudding, sticky toffee pudding very nice but the pornstar eton mess was to die for. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, felt very safe, good Covid-19 measures in place. Well done!

3/10/2020. I have been for lunch at the Dukes head on several occasions with friends and the food and service has always been good, so as we have recently moved to the area I suggested the Dukes head to my husband for an early dinner. Restaurant was Covid safe and initially the services started well, we were seated and they took our drinks order at this stage , the drinks took a while but this allowed us enough time to select our meal, the waitress finally came with the drinks and took our order. This was the only time we saw the waitress, someone from the kitchen bought our food and we didn’t see another member of staff. No checking was was the food okay, did we want another drink. It was strange because the waitress was serving other tables within the small corner of the restaurant, there was only 4 tables but she did not look in our direction once, despite empty plates on the table. A young boy who served our food cleared the plates , it was now too late to order another drink as we had eaten so we requested the bill. The bill was returned by the same young boy, he was polite but we waited for a good 10-15 mins for someone to take our card payment as requested on the signs to pay by card if possible, eventually after no one returned we just left cash and walked out. No staff acknowledge us. I appreciate that it’s strange times but customers can’t walk to the bar and purchase their own drink you are trying to avoid shouting over to staff for service. Overall we were very disappointed with the service as the food was nice, our only issue with the food which I would have addressed if anyone had asked us , the onion rings were overcooked So we left them. Not sure we would return

Nice interior but awful experience. The venue is clean and abiding by the COVID 19 rules so you feel safe, I’ll give them their due for that. But the service we received was pretty much terrible. To the point we won’t go back and feel we wasted our money in what was meant to be a nice evening out. We were sat at a wobbly table that the waiter advised there wasn’t really much he could do about it! Said waiter made us feel he has no time to listen to us, I was made of feel like I was annoying him asking him for condiments. Our food turned up really quick before even our drinks did. A side we ordered arrived late and when we mentioned we had l finished our meals now the waitress advised us ‘there’s not really much I can do about that’. Seems like that’s all they know how to say. No one asked us if everything was ok with our food or if we wanted more drinks. Plates were awkward in shape to be able to cut up your food. I wouldn’t normally be grumbling but for the price they charge you expect a slightly higher level of experience. I wouldn’t recommend and sadly we won’t be gong back.

Wow.. me and my friend came for lunch at The Dukes Head this Sunday and both enjoyed the chicken roast. This was genuinely the best roast I have ever had (I’ve had a lot!) and I’ve worked in pubs myself and honestly cannot top this. Great service, very professional and felt very safe and comfortable considering the current pandemic. Food presentation was fab, taste was 10/10 and a great atmosphere to be in.I will be bringing friends and family here for many more meals!Cannot recommend enough.

We had drinks and sharing snacks, which were fine. Luke went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.

My daughter booked us in for dinner to celebrate her sister’s birthday. Our party of six was safety seated in a corner booth even though we were quite early. We enjoyed some shared starters, delicious mains and well presented deserts. The service was friendly and efforts made to be Covid19 compliant though the restaurant was quite full. All the food was good and we enjoyed an excellent evening.

Such a wonderful atmosphere at the Dukes Head. We were warmly welcomed by the host Luke.... the restaurant has such a wonderful atmosphere and the food was out of this world....nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very welcoming and we were asked what the occassion was.... so we mentioned that it was a engagement celebration and we were surprised with a amazing well wishing dessert. You need to visit... this is the BEST RESTAURANT locally with such great customer service!! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Went to the dukes head the other day was a lovely place and had the most polite waitress i think here name was libby and the rest of the staff were also very helpful, I had to ask where the toilets were because they're a bit hidden but apart from that the food was lovely and I was very well catered for

Luke!!! I haven’t been here in 2 years but I can’t believe how different it is. Luke made our night amazing! He is one of a kind.

The manager (Luke) was very welcoming and managed to make our evening special. Loved the pubs location and the food is good, plus the wine menu is great. Asahi on tap is a bonus for me

I was worried about coming to a pub due to covid but on arrival we were made to feel safe with the stations of hand sanitizer and the use of masks. A lovely man called luke showed us to our table and was always making sure that we were okay and if we needed anything. He was very welcoming and it was a pleasure to have him as our waiter.

A bit disappointed with our lunch yesterday, none of our food was hot, and I have had this problem previously. A real shame, because the food was lovely. Coffees arrived lukewarm, we asked for them to be reheated, and they came back slightly warmer, but atrociously weak, and definitely not filter coffee. But atmosphere is good, friendly service, and clean and safe

Not great service - the original waiter(possibly the manager?) was very odd and wouldn’t even crack a smile. Another waiter took over and had much better customer service . The trio of roasts was overpriced - had a piece of fat for the pork , an overcooked piece of beef and a chicken leg and drummer ! Would have expected some chicken breast for the price at least! Dry yorkie too. The baked Camembert to start was the best part

The Dukes Head used to be so good pre 2020! We went for Sunday lunch this weekend and the place was not clean at all, there was food all over the floor, service was so slow and I watched the staff walk passed filthy tables and floors continually. In the end I actually got put off my food, as the filth was making my stomach feel quiwzzy. The food was not good to start with, so I will not be returning and I would be surprised if they don't get such down for their hygiene.

Overpriced food and terrible selection of beer. Used to be a great spot to drink and eat with friends.
