The Duck & Rice in City of London, Westminster

Great atmosphere, food and lovely staff. Glad we booked because it was very busy on a Saturday night. Despite the crowds the waiting times were very low. Food was delicious and drinks were fresh and quick to arrive, accommodating even people who wanted something off the menu.

Absolutely superb food and service. Group of nine including four young children - welcomed with open arms and such warmth. The food was delicious - every dish better than the last. Everyone ate far too much! The waiting staff couldn’t have been kinder to all of us. Thank you all, you really made my birthday special!

Unfortunately the standards have dropped significantly since I last visited few years ago. Service was very poor, food was cold. Despite being tasty, cold food is not ideal. This is a common theme on the reviews, why pay a premium & travel to the city for this. Use to be soo much better and I was a frequent visitor, will not return again. I'm surprised the service has dropped as there are more waiters now then before.

Had had this place on my ‘to visit’ list for years and finally got to experience it yesterday! I went for brunch on Saturday and sat downstairs in the ‘pub’ which was a lovely atmosphere. To start I had the duck rolls which were SO tasty, as was the accompanying sauce, and my main was the ‘duck and rice’ dish which was also delicious. I also had jasmine tea to drink and it was not only very nice but there was also plenty of it. The staff were attentive and helpful, the place was clean as were the toilets and it had a really nice atmosphere. Would recommend!

Average food, definitely not better than Four Seaons, but prices are expensive for what it is. Would not come here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Unfortunately we tried this place based on a lot of reviews but this was by far the driest duck. We have ever had.a little disappointing since the place looked amazing from the outside and inside.

Food was good but expensive, noisy and crammed environment. Spoilt the experience and wont return. When music is so loud that customers are shouting your order to your server and they still don't hear and bring the wrong drinks, you know its time to turn the music down. Shame, we spent a lot of money, its isn't cheap and if we didn't have a dog with us and its was a Saturday night, we would have left and gone somewhere else

this was unexpected - tripadvisor and guardian waxed enthusiastically about the restaurant which seemd reasonable after the first impression regarding building, ambiente and crowd but.... my half crispy duck was carelessly deboned and dry as any desert worth its name my son on the other hand had a duck dish which he was happy with well - he's still young

The food was average. The sichuan dumplings were amazing but the crispy tofu was made with silken tofu so the texture was off and it was quite flavourless. The mock chicken on the other hand was too flavourful and just tasted of black pepper. The service was good but they did not acknowledge the special occasion (bday dinner) even though they asked me to confirm this twice. The ambience was nice and it's good that it's dog friendly. However because of the food I would not recommend.

A great find... I came here for a relaxed lunch with friends with no time pressures. We were never rushed and allowed to order our food as we needed e.g. starters first and then anything else we fancied. The food was hot, fresh and very flavoursome. The service was friendly and efficient and helpful when we asked for photos of us to be taken! I will definitely be returning.
