We came in a big group for a birthday and Michael was just incredible. He took such good care of us and everyone had a fantastic time. Lovely pub, lovely vibes.

Great little find. The food was good. It could have been a little hotter. Vegan Sunday roast appeared homemade and was delicious.

It started off really well at the Duchy Arms. We arrived at 1, got drinks, sat down and ordered food. The food arrived promptly, and looked good when it did. We finished our meals and asked if we could take the leftovers home with us - this caused some puzzled looks. The manager then came over, also confused, and we said again that we'd like to take the leftovers away with us. The original waiter then comes back and asks a third time what we wanted, and then informs us that it was too late, as they had thrown it away. This was followed by the manager then telling off a member of staff on the restaurant floor for a mistake they had made - all in front of customers. Value for money was great - service left something to be desired.

Food is great and atmosphere warm and welcoming. Best feature is the hot guy who hosts the quiz on Wednesdays though.

We can’t recommend this lovely pub in Kennington, keeping the hunt family well fed and whilst off the beaten track is a little gem. A little part of France in every sense of the word hidden in the heart of London Albere who adds a lovely humour to your visit and his team give excellent service. The food is typically French with a touch of English …… love it , love it LOVE IT !!!!

There's no doubt The Duchy has come to life once again. Food and service is great. The place is an absolute gem, being a traditional English pub so near to the bustle of central London life but a world apart from that bustle, being what we Brits call a "Local"; just south of the River Thames. Sunday lunch in a homely, cosy pub is always a relaxing experience before the new week fires up. So why 3 stars? Whether you're a local or on holiday (at the increasing number of Airbnb's in Kennington) it remains an irritation about sneaky mark ups on that nice bottle of wine the two of you want to share with the food. That's the significant down side to the current business model for the beloved Duchy. Take one example, a bottle of Cotes du Rhone Village Les Coteaux; shown in my photo as £10.99 wholesale. Sold to accompany your lovely meal in the Duchy at £31. That's a mark up of 182%. Let's hope the current management team wise up to that not being realistic in a Kennington Pub (yes it's the industry average for Mayfair /Shard /Battersea Power Station/ Knightsbridge/ Kings Road) but not for our little Gastropub in Kennington. So let's crack on and sort that out.

The Duchy has always been one of our favourite neighbourhood pubs, for both food and drinks, especially since Abel and the team started running the place. The food is amazing, in particular the Sunday roast. I also highly recommend giving the brunch a go - theirs is the best Eggs Benedict I've had anywhere in London. Highly recommended - see you there soon!

Lovely traditional style pub. Dog and child friendly (in a good way). Main course of beef bourginon was excellent and deserts, bailey's cheesecake and chocolate fondant, were both outstanding. The service was brilliant considering it was quite busy. Highly recommended.

Based in a quiet residential street, from the inside is a warm welcoming atmosphere, the seating areas are well spaced out, the menu is seasonal and the produce used is splendid, th is a big outdoor seating area with umbrella and heating; artificial grass and pet/children friendly. The best thing apart from a wide selection of drinks, bottles of liquor is the wonderful staff. The staff are friendly, smiley and will always be the for you in or outdoors. It is a calm and un overcrowded place. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Just had Christmas lunch at the Duchy Arms. It was fabulous. Great selection of starters, vegetarian mushroom Wellington was delicious and a great selection of desserts. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend a trip here.

Great big roast dinner. Very tasty. My only wish is that the roast potatoes were crispy. A well roasted crispy potato is the foundation of the perfect roast.

The food is of an unexpectedly high standard the humble appearance of the pub. Well worth a visit. Price is very reasonable and service is fantastic. Duck Rillettes were fantastic. Would’ve taken a picture but was too busy eating them 🤤 ***update*** Braised ox cheek you must try. Superb. 👌🏽 ***update-update*** To fully enjoy take the bars recommendations for drinks. Also dessert are equally as good. Just had apple crumble. Best❤️❤️❤️

A lovely pub with a charming host and friendly staff. The food was so tasty....we had the mussels and a wild mushroom risotto both of which were fabulous. I can't wait to go back there. PS The goats cheese starter was delicious as well.

I had my birthday lunch here on a Sunday at 3pm. I wanted a really good roast and good atmosphere and this pub exceeded my expectations. The food was outstanding, I was blown away. I had roast beef. Meat was cooked to perfection, delicious potatoes, veg and the Yorkshire puddings were on point. Not only fantastic food but the service from start to finish was incredible. I went in person to book, they were accomodating, helped me choose a nice table. When we arrived on the day, the table was already laid and looked beautiful. We had a drink outside while we looked over the menu, then went inside for our food. Nothing was a problem, all the staff were 'can do' attitude and just very friendly and kind. I would highly recommend and will be coming back in the future. All my family were impressed and it was a great day. Thank you.

Great experience at the duchy! Been living in the area for ages and never really check it out. Abel was very welcoming and overall good experience. Absolutely stunning. We come here 2-3 times a week as it is the best pub in the neighbourhood. The food exceeds that found in a typical free house with classic British pub food complementing a menu with a French brasserie twist. They adapt their menu to the season so the food is always fresh. Perfect for friends, dates and family meals!

Took my parents for a delicious meal tonight in this candlelit pub, with superb service. Highly recommend the crêpes Suzette for dessert too

Two half-Americans here (who absolutely love quality, flavourful food). This location is large and quaint at the same time. Nestled in a beautiful, peaceful neighbourhood. Large comfortable sitting area inside and a beautifully decorated garden out back. We chose to sit outside as we arrived around 11:30am and were the only ones there (everyone is at work I assume). The owner and our waitress were incredibly kind and friendly. Quick service and brought us everything we would need without “bothering” us too many times. The food and portions were great for lunch. We got the lamb burger and the open steak sandwich. The owner so happily brought me more tzatziki sauce and made us feel very special and welcome. You cannot beat the atmosphere and quality service, and we feel it was priced very well for the experience. Not enough good I can say about this! Amazing all around and we will absolutely be back

Lovely outdoor patio with a delicious brunch. The lamb burger and steak sandwich were exactly what we needed after walking for an hour with our luggage. The staff were warm and accommodating for us two Americans and made us feel like old friends. Would definitely come again if the occasion presents itself!

Potential to be excellent but the flair of the service is let down by just quite inefficient delivery. Food took a long time to be served and had clearly been under a heat lamp and meant the food was tepid and the meat had turned to quite well done and chewy. Ordering drinks very difficult and usually accompanied by a 10-15 minute wait to order and then 10-15 minutes to actually receive. £11 for a very average Bloody Mary seems pretty extortionate. Fries were very obviously very cheap frozen ones - would have hoped better. All in all a bit underwhelming - you’d be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Could have been a great meal. Lovely team working but no order which results in slow service / cold food. You can’t help to feel slightly forgotten about amongst the other tables. Allow a long wait to be seen and a long wait to receive anything ordered. Honestly, I’d just go somewhere else.

I went there with my parents for supper. I had the ribeye steak, and my parents had the beefburger. Both dishes were lovely. The wild mushroom sauce was to die for. I strongly recommend it.

Stop reading my review and go! We came to London to watch the cricket as a birthday treat and we’re stayi be the night on the embankment. We were looking for a place to eat. Found this place on Trip Adviser. I wasn’t too sure because it was in the “wrong” direction. But I am so glad we went. The people that work here are so welcoming. We had a choice to sit inside or in the garden. We chose outside. 3 of us had steak and 1 had the fish and chips. It was all lovely. The whole night was awesome. And I am so glad we were brave. So go on, stop thinking about it. Go

Popped in after the cricket got rained off. Lovely “little” beer garden out the back. Staff were pretty good. Picnic session IPA was great, which was good as the Guinness was the worst Guinness had all day, and that includes the ones out of plastic cups inside the oval!

Amazing place. Myself and my better half came with our daughter for a bit of lunch after visiting vauxhall city farm. We were treated to great service and the food was exceptional. Felt very welcome and enjoyed an amazing freshly made mixed berry creme brulee. Couldn't recommend high enough

We’re staying around the corner and were happy to find this local pub. Kitchen was already closed the night before so we came back this evening especially for dinner. The manager Abel is friendly, funny, and welcoming and the food magnificent at a reasonable price. We all had a version of burger, local pale ale, and crème brûlée, and all was delicious. Only regret we won’t be back for a long time. Most highly recommended.

Staff are friendly (particularly the owner/manager) but service is awful. Queued for so long for drinks on a Friday and they had 4 people behind the bar. Food looks good but not tried it. It's not a glam pub but it has a pub garden

A perfect place for Sunday roast especially visiting London. The GM of the Pub makes all the guest feel welcome. Food is reasonable price & serving is good portion for one person. Highly recommend.

Found this place online and figured “what the hell, why not”. Showed up and the staff was awesome. They recommended the fresh mussels (entree) so we got that and the bread as an appetizer. I could spend the next 3 paragraphs explaining why the mussels were so good but that wouldn’t be enough. Steak and prawns were the entree and were exactly what I hoped. Finished with a cheesecake and rolled my happy ass back to the hotel. Well done Abel and the crew! I’ll be right back. Venue was bright and clean with large outdoor seating and a larger umbrella.

Really good food and good service

My husband and me came here today for an easter sunday roast and enjoyed the sunshine in the really nice garden. We had a little chat and joked with our waiters. We were welcomed so heartily and the service was great. The food was so delicious and really a lot. So all in all we had a lovely time and great food and definitely will return! Thank you :)

Fantastic! We are visiting from the United States and happened upon this restaurant. Food … amazing. Huge portions. Their Sunday Roast menu was great. Can’t say enough about atmosphere and service. The owner made us feel so at home. Wish we had this establishment in Ohio. We would be regulars.

We had a very friendly welcome. The cocktails where very good. We had Brambles and Mai Tai’s. The sunday menu was, as it should be, sunday roast and it was simply delicious.

The nearest tube is Kennington, Vauxhall tube is also close by, both are a ten minute walk away. . Formerly The Anchor & Hope, The Duchy Arms was built mid 19th century and assumed the name The Duchy Arms in 1972. The name of the pub relates to The Duchy of Cornwall which essentially is Prince William’s Estate after King Charles ascended to the throne. The Duchy of Cornwall owns properties and land in Kennington including The Oval Cricket Ground. This pubs sign bares The Duchy of Cornwall’s coat of arms. . The decor here is traditional with the pub split in to two sections, a wet led bar area at the front and a dining area at the rear. The bar area is unique and has lots of brass plus stained glass around the top. There are large chandeliers illuminating the bar and the odd chesterfield to relax into. At the rear of the pub is a large beer garden for the warmer months. . The beer line up was straightforward and included one real ale option. I decided on a pint of Madri which was well received and average price. The food menu was traditional pub grub, fish & chips is reasonably priced at £12. The pub opens at 10am on weekends if you fancy a Full English, Roasts are available on a Sunday. . I visited on a Friday just after opening and the pub was a hive of activity. I got chatting to the new charismatic owner Abel who had literally just moved in. Abel kindly gave me a tour of the pub and was very personable and funny. Abel explained that he wants to create a locals pub which offers great beer and food in welcoming surroundings. . I was glad to see that this pub had reopened its doors and that the new Guv’nor has the tenacity and passion to make this pub work for the local community. Rubbish. Didn’t like it. The guy who was at the bar was quite rude. I felt there was a bit of discrimination as I’m deaf and he gave me an attitude.

This pub has it all, great vibes, quiet location, lovely lighting, fantastic food and to top it all a dashing manager. Why go anywhere else?

Under new management the issues of the past months have been resolved (all the taps working, bar stocked). There is a quality and well priced food menu and decent coffee (hoorah). The brunch menu is excellent as are the burgers, goujons and more in the evening. Sunday roast best in the neighbourhood. The cooking has gone up a notch - quality food at a fair price. Definitely worth visiting and ensuring success for the new team.

Recently refurbished and under new management. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We ordered a sunday roast and it was their first offering. Couldn't fault the food, it was delicious. Will definitely be back.
