Visited Saturday night, 4 of us celebrating my Father in law's 80th birthday. We had a brilliant time, had a drink in the bar downstairs first where our menu choices were taken then made our way up for a choice of tables, we picked one by the window and had a cracking view of the sunset. The food was fantastic, service was excellent and we can't wait to go back. Loved the bar downstairs, very friendly atmosphere. Thank you Druidstone!

As this place was recommeneded by almost all internet results for "top ten" pubs in South Wales we really thought we were on a winner coming here on the second day of our holiday. When we drove up to park the beautiful coastline took my breath away & it was a gorgeous day so we decided to eat outside on the benches to admire the view of the beach. So far so good! As South Wales has wonderful culture & history (my dad was Welsh) I wanted to experience all this & I was looking forward to enjoying some Welsh food, however the menu we were given was lacking. It was a Sunday so I settled for a Sunday roast only to be told "No Sunday roast" (only if you booked in advance)....Ok..I looked back at the menu & did not understand most of what was on it. Even an Iranian dish was listed & I joked to my husdand that we could have Iranian Stew! So it came down to a choice of just one vaugly English dish on the whole menu. Steak pie. This arrived in about 40 minutes but the pie was not a pie at all! Just a dish of steak stew with a pastry lid. I should have been impressed as this was the only part of the dish that was edible. The mash was swimming in butter making it more of a potato slop rather than mash & the veg, a mixture of sugar snap peas (I hate these!!) brocholli & peas was raw! Not just undercooked but raw & completely inedible. Even my dog turned his nose up at this. It cost a small fortune too & to be honest the McDonalds in Haverfordwest would have been a lot better. Is it so difficult to get Welsh food In a Welsh pub? It is such a shame as this place is in an amazing spot but unless you are an Iranian backpacker homesick for Irainian food, forget it. As someone else has said...." Take a picnic & eat it on the lovely cliffs!" I only wish we had!

Weirdly wonderful.. or is that wonderfully weird?! Either way we had a wonderful lunch here at the quirky, accommodating Druidstone Hotel. I wanted to try this place and so phoned on the off chance of grabbing some lunch within the hour and we weren’t disappointed. From the wicked little cellar bar that opens up onto the terrace with the best view ever, to the ‘different’ menu using the redhead and local ingredients, and the quirkily decorated rooms that make up the ground floor of the main building, all was just weirdly wonderful. I had read some reviews on here that mentioned getting a cold reception, but this was not the case, they couldn’t be friendlier - even rummaging around in the sheds to find extra shade for my daughter (hair only just growing back after chemo) so we could continue to enjoy the most incredible views of the beach below. We’ll be back.

Tiny portions (one of our chicken curries had 1 1/2 pieces of chicken in it!); poor service (messed order up for starters and main courses, no apology after we had to wait so long for two missing curries that everyone else had finished eating and expensive for quality and quantity of food. Very quiet service, so God knows what happens when they get busy! Such a shame. This is a prime spot and this place has just never managed to get it together well enough. Don't think we'll return here to eat and we 12 of us come to this area every summer.

There is not much in Pembrokeshire that is remote, but Druidstone comes close to it. Perched on a clifftop above Broad Haven, almost from Daphne du Maurier. Fantastic. It is querky - a mixture of old rambling country house, a hotel and a restaurant more like a dining room in a large house. White table cloths, silver service, plenty of room, great views. Sunday lunch excellent - a bit more expensive than the average for the area, but a generally more relaxed experience. So very good so far. The staff - young, pleasant, but scruffy. Jeans with holes in may be cool, but they do not work with silver service. But we went for the lunch, which was excellent, and we shall go again.

You have to firstly recognise that you are in Wales on the far coast so you will not get the hassle and bustle of city life here. The Druidstone is about refined dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Providing excellent service, when you require, time to eat a gorgeous meal, hopefully with great company. Went mid-week with advanced reservation. Sat-Nav is best by putting in "Tesla charging point"! Small undistinguished entrance with a little driveway curving around the cliff on which The Druidstone Hotel sits. It is a hotel with bar & restaurant. It has had membership in the past, so worth checking that out. Enter the house by the front door and the restaurant front desk is down the corridor to the back of the building. They have wonderful gardens and great views, or you can enjoy the restaurant, with some tables beside the windows, again with sea views. The menu has a reasonable selection. The portions are generous, with surprisingly reasonable prices for the quality. Had a wonderful Asian Beef & Noodle soup to start; lovely steak as main with a large sticky toffee dessert. Coffee and soft drink. My wife had the succulent duck starter, with freshly cooked salmon followed by a large lemon posset dessert. Tea and a couple glasses of wine. All for less than £85. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was cooked and presented in a manner that would not go amiss in a top London restaurant. The only gripe would be the sticky table, but the evening was wonderful and definitely a place to go again. First Class.

We booked dinner here mid-week. Ignore your sat-nav ...totally wrong! We had seen it previously, luckily, but on arrival it was not looking very likely...had to get out to check we were in the right place! It doesn't really look operative, when you get inside it has a slightly tatty charm about it...a cross between Miss Havisham's and Wuthering Heights? Definitely typical of Artists and hippies! Wonderful food...far too much of it...we could have eaten for three days off the one meal! Not extensive menu...definitely worthwhile as an alternative to the usual restaurant scene. Amazing location halfway down the cliff to the beach below ....and if the weather's good ..a great place to sit in the garden with a drink.

I’ve been staying with my family in Broadhaven and visiting the Druidstone for 15 years…but after my latest visit I definitely won’t bother again…we phoned ahead 15 minutes before to check it was ok to pop in for a drink…yes def…call in! Unfortunately the reality on arrival was a different experience….the female who “greeted” us (in the loosest sense of the word) was extremely unpleasant and patronising….we explained we’d called ahead and she actually said “how long ago was that then” …sadly it was a dreadful inconvenience that we wanted a drink ….there was was actually not one other person in sight apart from the staff, but we were made to feel as it of it was all terribly bothersome. Bar guy was nice though! I used to quite like it here, but now it’s trying a bit too hard to be “alternative and interesting” when in reality it’s just all a bit tedious and grubby …I expect the DFLs (down from London’s) will like it …but the lack of of common courtesy and basic interpersonal skills made this an unpleasant experience….not sure how the elite membership is going but there were no other customers when we were there. Also a shame about the old mattress and sofa on the grass outside…maybe an art installation…or just junk waiting for a bonfire…who knows!

Stopped by for a quiet afternoon drink, ordered two drinks at the table via the app, staff behind the bar ignored the order then after 20mins asked if we were members and refused to give us our drinks as we were not staying at the hotel or had paid the £200 a year fee. There was no one else sat at any table, seems outrageous and a miserable way to run a business. Don't even bother going, waste of time and money. Get a picnic and eat for free on the cliff next to it, view is the same and you'll actually get to eat/drink without being treated like a lesser being.

Honestly, very disappointed. Was recommended this spot for lunch by a local. But in hindsight, he mentioned the great location and not the greatness of the food. The only thing that stopped this being a 1-star review was the barman was a nice ol chap, the location was indeed brilliant, would probably be a lovely spot for a pint in the summer sunshine, but don't arrive hungry, and the veggies could have been worse. However, for 17 pounds, I ordered the chicken and was presented with a chicken drumstick and half a thigh, both of which were awfully fatty. I am not overexaggerating. My partner order the red meat option and I kid you not her meat was over 50% fat, again I promise you not an over-exaggeration. Normally I like to give places the benefit of the doubt, and rarely actually leave a poor review even if I am disappointed with a spot, but this just took the biscuit.

The Druidstone is mainly a hotel, located in a spectacular place: perched on the cliffs overlooking St Bride's Bay in Pembrokeshire, the view spans from Ramsey Island closing the North side of the bay, to Skomer Island closing its Southern end. Beautiful views and, weather permitting, beautiful sunsets. Difficult to reach (very badly signposted, you must follow detailed directions, or be a very good map reader - no hope with a sat nav), but worth the trip. We went there for lunch, however, and were disappointed by the restaurant. Perhaps it was the wrong day, just after Christmas and New Year's celebrations (the beautiful decorations were still there)... but the place was cold (it was very cold outside, and a roaring fire would have been appropriate!), the menu limited and not inspiring, the food very mediocre, the service extremely slow. We'll try again, hoping to find a restaurant matching the magnificence of the place.

The 3rd visit was not as good. They had run out of the lunch we wanted so chose another meal. Unfortunately it seemed they had run out of the lemon and herb chicken my girlfriend had ordered as she had a tiny piece of that and then several bbq chicken wings, this was most likely because they forgot about us for an hour. Our little one wanted the plain pasta but this was brought out with tomato sauce. We had waited so long we didn't bother to complain or send either back. The other 3 meals were great, salad was really fresh and also mushroom pasta really tasty. The food was excellent - really fresh and tasty and the place had a unique, quirky, bohemian feel. There are also toys, playground and drawing pens to entertain the kids. Amazing location, although difficult to find as the sat nav doesnt work and there are no signs. However on the negative side the food was really late. We booked a table for 6.30pm for 7.30pm start for my brothers birthday. They kindly gave us a private room, however the table wasn't ready when we arrived. The food wasn't ready until about 8pm. It was a buffet and there were people queuing down the stairs and round the corners. The woman in charge came across abit rude and unhelpful and didn't let us take any food for the children (aged 4 and 2) when we asked until all the dishes were laid out with labels! She seemed more like a headteacher than a hostess. It was impossible to tell who worked there as all the staff were in normal clothes. They were all really young girls so it seemed a bit cultish. They didnt seem to know what was going on. Some of the food ran out quickly eg the fish and guacamole and boiled eggs and were not replaced so didn't get to have any. The lady in charge said she would let us know when the buffet was ready but never did and we only knew when we saw people queuing past our doorway. I think they give hotel guests priority but knowing how hungry our young children were she could have made an exception. None of the food was appropriate for young children as it was all exotic and spiced. Even the macaroni cheese was flavoured with mustard and herbs so was not eaten. The potatoes had kidney beans and dressing. They gave us a large blue bottle on the table for water. When we poured the water some candle wax came out so it had obviously been used as a candle holder in the past. When you arrive there is no reception at the entrance, and no one to welcome you. There is a pond in the garden at the back and a gate to the cliffs so you cant let the kids run around and play unsupervised. The tree house and slide was on top of rocky ground so if anyone fell off it would have been a bad accident. The swing structure seemed to wobble a lot as if it may topple over. There is a drawing room for kids, but you can't leave little ones in there alone as they could run out of the front door into the carpark or over the cliffs or into the kitchen etc. There is a high chair in the drawing room which our kids liked to sit on but it nearly fell over if not held down. There was a bar downstairs so you had to go and bring up your own drinks.

Called in on our walk round the coastal path, And Wow! What a place to stop off on a sunny day for a drink, sat outside with our drinks and taking in the wonderful landscape, and after a bit decided we would try the food, unfortunately it was ok at best, houmus and a lovely consistency, but lacked any flavour, and one half of the duo of Thai veg currys the yellow half was really nice, the green half was poor, made mainly we aubergine, is had just turned to a soggy mess unfortunately, will definitely be back again, and maybe give the food another go as hopefully we just got them on an off day.

Went to Druidstone with my wife and two other couples. Had pre-booked. Arrived on time. 2 tables were there before us and eating another arrived possibly around the same time. We ordered and it was possibly an hour before our food arrived. I ordered Medium steak and when it came the waiter announced it as a Medium rare, I questioned it and he took it away and then bringing back saying it was in fact Medium, I wasn't going to argue but it more rare than medium and had started when another member of our party who had ordered a Rare steak realised he had a well done steak, The waiter did apologise and said it would be amended on the bill. The veg dishes came with hot spots on it and other places the veg was cold. I would suggest it had been heated in a microwave. After all finishing our mains we ordered sweet. Sticky toffee and three ordered ice cream, (3 Scoups) Not sure how long it took, but I would suggest at least 15-20 mins (Didn't time it, but it was a unreasonable length of time considering no new diners had come in so the staff were hardly over worked ) I have been to Druidstone on a number of occasions before for meals and had some lovely meals there. Last year I remember as a group of 4 we went for a meal and again slow service but put it down to them being busy, but it was slow. This time I feel no excuses and as the others in our party vowed not to return for food again. Lovely views, but next time we'll order a drink at the bar and eat elsewhere thank you.

We called in for three bar meals without booking to discover that there was a Lebanese themed evening being held in the dining room. The staff were wonderful and quickly found a way to include because we were quite happy to talk whilst we waited for the food to be presented. We chatted with some long time acquaintances and laughed with a few new ones, the atmosphere was quite party-like and very relaxing. The food was authentic, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and the buffet style provided a second opportunity to mix with other diners. We left, agreeing we should ensure we don’t miss the next one. Our thanks to all the staff for such an enjoyable couple of hours, we’ll be in touch to get added to your mailing list.

Bit of a hidden gem tucked away in Broad Haven. The scenery around the restaurant is amazing. It is heightened by the relaxed and quirky atmosphere inside with chilled out music in the background. The place also has live gigs on at least once a month.

We stopped here for lunch while enjoying a day on the beach. What a find! Great menu and a truly magnificent setting. Really friendly staff, I think the best I have ever met! I had the artichoke salad and the others had chilli con carne. All well presented and delicious. We enjoyed delicious desserts and a cheeky merlot. If you are in the area do treat yourself. We will be back.

We called in to the Druidstone last week for the first time, and the view, location and building are amazing. The staff were fantastic unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down. We had arrived at 1.30 and already a couple of items had disappeared off the menu.My wife had a Victoria sponge which was average at best and I had a leek and potato soup which I really did not like. The kids enjoyed their pizza and spaghetti. If I am passing again I will just call in for tea and a biscuit to look at the view

We were staying just to the south in Timber Hill, so this place was only a 20 mins walk. This means that we went there a few times, and we, personally, loved the place. Our first visit was on a glorious day after a long walk north, so I was exceptionally pleased to find that they sell Gwynt y Ddraig Welsh cider. It was this visit that we learnt about the Indonesian buffet later in the week. So we returned for this buffet which turned out to be one of those memorable moments you have on a holiday. The food was plentiful, the atmosphere was rustic and bustling, the staff were friendly, it was just ideal from start to finish.About the place; it has all the feel of a perfect country house right on the coast, nothing formal at all, with stunning sea views and beautiful coastal walks. Sitting there with my Welsh cider, it was just so .... Mmmmmmm!

We visited The Druidston as a group to celebrate 2 birthdays but after a spell of exceptionally good weather we had an evening of cold windy drizzle.....hence the title! I would imagine that the views on a better evening would be spectacular. We found our restaurant without too much hassle but it is somewhat remote. If you are looking for a venue full of character then this is the place for you. There was something unusual to see around every corner.....just the place for me. In today's world where everything is homogeneous and you could be in any time and any place....they all look alike. The menu was extensive and changes according to availability of local produce and the cooking style of the chef on duty. The dining room was lit with fairylights which I thought was a nice touch and the staff were attentive so no cause for complaints there. Definitely a place to revisit but next time on a nice day/evening. This may not be a place for everyone but it certainly ticked nearly all of my boxes.

Perched on a cliff in the middle of nowhere in Pembrokeshire, the Druidstone issues challenges to guests staying in its rooms and diners eating in the restaurant alike. The main one being - find me! Sat navs take you into a field, maps are pretty useless, dead reckoning is likely to take you over a cliff. But persevere and be rewarded by the weird and lovely. Look up the Druidstone's history as it's interesting and charming and, if you can, do stay. In high season it's usually fully booked by regulars, but you can sometimes get a table for dinner. Marvel at the fairy lights, crazy lamps and other madness circulating while you appreciate some excellent modern British cooking that wouldn't be out of place in central London. There's more than a whiff of Fawlty Towers about the place, but it's charming and benign and makes you curious to find out more. If you're anywhere near the place, do make the effort to try and eat there.

First thing to say about this place is book, book, book. We stayed for 3 days recently and couldn't get into the main restaurant as it was all booked up. This, as far as I am concerned, is a testament to how great the place is in. We were lucky enough to eat here twice however by sampling their high quality bar menu. On the first night we dined in the bar and we sampled the Chicken and Bacon and Leek Pie (recommened to us by someone at the bar who said he had come back especially for it) and the fish pie. Both were excellent quality. On the second night we added the Mustard Ham Dish and the ham was so generous and so delicious that it would rival any Ham Ploughman's that I have had in my 39 years on this planet. Also on the second night we were lucky enough to experience the view across druidstone bay and I would highly recommned this to anyone. There was a place in Dubrovnik that we sought down to look across the sea whilst have a drink or two, however this has nothing on this place! Find it, eat there and eat there again. We would have gone there for a third time but they were shut down for a wedding :(

The food and beer are a tick above average for a comparably priced gastro pub but what distinguishes The Druidstone is its location, an isolated one on the cliffs above St. Brides Bay. We were there on a sunny day when the gorse was in full bloom and the scenery could not have been better.
