Lovely home cooked food, reasonably priced

Booked a table for 6 for a birthday celebration. Pub was super busy but a really lovely atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We liked the football on the screens and we had a fab table by the kitchen. Really comfy. Cool toilets with themed doors - nice and clean. Food was great. Plenty of parking. Can’t fault anything.

We’ve been to the Droppingwell many times over the last 10 years and unfortunately last night was the worst food we’ve ever had there. Although the food arrived piping hot (almost too hot), the taste was not good. My boyfriend had a mixed grill. Most of the meat on the plate was dry and he needed ketchup to make the meat edible and add some moisture. I had the chicken trio burger. The coated chicken pieces were really nice but it was let down by the plain chicken which was again dry. The chips are tasteless. To be honest we’ve had better quality meals in Wetherspoons which is known for being a cheap eat. My boyfriend said this was the worst mixed grill he’s had in a long time. He does have his steak well done but this one was beyond well done. Apple pie was good. The chocolate fondant is not a chocolate fondant, there was no liquid, gooey centre. It was basically a chocolate sponge. I was also disappointed they’d run out of the Bailey’s & toffee cheesecake when it’s a main menu item. When you have The Barley and The Mill Dam near by taking the time to cook food fresh and doing home cooked chips, The Droppingwell falls really short. I’d rather wait longer for a good quality meal. There is no comparison against the other pubs in the local area and we probably won’t eat here again which is really disappointing. Staff, service, and the atmosphere were brilliant. The Taylor Swift/Katy Perry tribute was amazing. I would happily go back for a drink and the entertainment but not for the food.

Absolutely gorgeous mixed grill and the Sunday dinners. Really friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

Terrible experience for my birthday meal We firstly purchased drinks starters and main course thinking we'd stay for the full experience Unfortunately not The food was awful had to be sent back Came back just as awful So litteraly left it intact as the waitress Was less than helpful or concerned enough to help To the fact I even went and told her we were leaving and that my meal was still on the plate intact apart from 2 small bites She just smiled What on earth a kind of response that was is beyond me Add to the fact we were sat in the most uninviting area ever behind a huge block wall on a tiny table wedged against another wooden partition In a very empty restaurant So disappointed to say the very least Such a shame as this did use to be the place to go Patrons will only accept so much before they start to go to a different place When receiving this lack of welcome and food experience

Hi my experience with the Dropping well is staff friendly and polite, food not so good for me but this is my opinion, food is cooked OK but low quality food, I always say that you get what you pay for, that's why it's cheap but cheap isn't always the best, my opinion.

I have no recollection of giving the one-star recommendation. The "Dropping Well" has always provided us with excellent service and delicious food. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a five-star experience.

Lovely pub went in for early tea Lovely clean and modern will visit again, they also do entertainment at certain times of the month looked like a good night out.

A very popular local pub. On entering the pub has a welcoming feel, it's very clean and fresh. The bar staff are friendly and efficient. There was a good selection of beers and Lagers. I had a few cracking pints of Farmers Blonde. I really must return here and have a meal. They have live tribute bands and acts for all ages and tastes and even some that might appeal to the wrinkles.

Usually have lunch there once a week. Yesterday 10/12/23 we had a family celebration for our Diamond Wedding Anniversary! The food was great as usual, service very good and a great welcome . Love this pub !!!👍

Poor quality real ale (too warm and flat). The pub itself is tastefully decorated and the staff friendly. The food looked nice but I didn't eat there

Disappointed in the plaice(fish) it was overcooked and dry,not much fish too much crumb which was hard

All the ladies seem lovely but there's 1 fat guy that needs sacking iv known 3 people have to put up with him being rude and very inconsiderate. Everything would go up a star if he wasn't a prick good look at Christmas time hope all the other staff members are well

We came here for lunch as a little treat, and it was absolutely lovely! The staff were very welcoming and friendly, we got our food fast and Marie who served me at the bar was so lovely! Overall we all felt very comfortable! We will definitely return😊

We haven't been for a while so decided to go for grandsons birthday. We all enjoyed it we shall go again. Pleasant staff and quick service.

Drinks aren't cheap, but food is reasonable. There was a lot of staff but not really a lot of service happening.

We have a few times now after playing golf at the Range First class as always. Food , service , prices and staff all excellent.

We recently moved to the north and discovered the Droppingwell. And we’re very glad we did. The pub is fantastic! The food is lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful and the landlady is awesome. Grace, our server, was friendly, polite and attentive. Food was tasty and hot.

Good choices for Sunday lunch, small portions but left room for another course. Always well seasoned, sometimes a little too much, Chef seems to like salt. Service was good. Some seating is a little tight.

The staff here are always great. Just booked for my daughters hen do although it’s on a tribute night. With there being 10 of us Marie swapped tables about to accommodate us even though we might be only staying for drinks and not the tribute act…. Depending on how many we’ve had to drink at the bottomless brunch we’ve got in Sheffield 😂😂 love this place. Food is always good as well.

The staff are all lovely here but I have to say the food has slipped, came in a few weeks ago and had chilli which I often had, but it had very little flavour and no spice to it but it used to have a good flavour and bit of a kick, last night I had salmon which was nice but a little bit dry but not in edible. Just feel something has changed in the kitchen, won’t stop me coming back but it won’t be my first choice like it used to be. Sorry.

Fantastic staff very friendly and warm welcomes al round. Food is fab and a great atmosphere especially tribute nights been a few times to these. Blake always makes us feel welcomed everytime we come in always friendly and approcable nothing is too much trouble for him to see how our meals are.

Visited the restaurant at Droppingwell with my wife, Rowena who must avoid certain foods for her own safety (some foods can cause anaphylactic attacks). When ordering our lunch, Nathen was most attentive to Rowena’s dietary needs and aware of the medical consequences should she ingest nasty allergens. Nathen halted all else in the kitchen so my wife’s order would not be contaminated by allergens. We are so thankful for his attentiveness. My wife said it was the best (& safest) meal she had eaten in weeks. Thanks to everyone, and particularly Nathen!

Beautiful pub with a great setting. Bar staff were polite and bubbly, but unfortunately we were left with a bitter taste. Whilst sat enjoying our drink we had the misfortune to overhear a male bar staff? Call a name to a young lady on the bar. Lay about or lean a lot. Absolutely inappropriate and she was obviously upset over this. Might need to think about who is employed in future. Probably won’t be back as it was uncomfortable to hear what amounted to bullying. My partner had to bite her lip.

I have been going to the dropping well for the last 20 years. Over the last couple of months we have noticed a decline in the quality of the food. Sunday roast Yorkshire puddings were so hard. But today the food wasn't good at all I had scampi cold chips and over cooked. Most of our party were disappointed. One lady ordered a latte , which came like a strong expresso. I ordered a cider . The bar man took my money before even serving the drink and I had to ASK for my change. So I'm so very sorry I won't be back . Angela you as always were trying to do everything. Think all the staff were new?

Great night outs with great singers

Been a few times for Christmas meals. Recently been for Sunday dinner and it was spot on.

Had the gammon with chips and mushy peas and it was very nice the service was perfect and atmosphere were very good 👍

Nicely decorated beautiful flowers outside inexpensive and wide ranging menu the food was good staff are very helpful certainly worth the visit

Had nice meal in the Dropping Well. Not bad dining experience,watch out for the daily specials. The service at bar was little slow,but nothing too serious.

This is one of the best pubs in the area. Good food and friendly service with wonderful frontage of hanging baskets during the Summer. Also has well organised tribute acts.

Meet here for dinner on a monthly basis as it’s conveniently close to my friends workplace. Never had a bad meal and the service is always good.

The golden oldies afternoon was really good, 2 course meal was value for money, although disappointed with the gammon, had gravy on it. My only complaint.

A nice pub with a nice menu with 2 for 1 offers etc. Cheap priced and nicely cooked food. Well worth a visit for that not so special occasion. X

Went in just before they stopped serving food but they were most helpful, even though it was quiet and they must have thought they'd finished and we had an excellent meal. Always a nice relaxed atmosphere there and the beer is good!

The worst plate of food I’ve ever been served! Shocking, tasteless, fish overcooked to the point it was inedible, unseasoned (literally not even a pinch of salt)….I was refunded for the plate of food but this does make it ok to serve it in the first place. Photo of the plate speaks volumes!

It was okay but nothing fabulous. The chicken, ham and Leek pie came with just cubes of chicken in a cream sauce. The hand cut chips were also just frozen oven chips

The service was quick, the food arrived hot. Good sized portions too. My only negative was that the mashed potatoes had little flavour. They needed salt or alternative flavours adding to them.

Was a lovely meal I only had the soup as I've been ill and was with my brother and wife plus their family the pub was very busy but nothing was too much trouble was good food and quick service

Used to come to this establishment regularly but not been for a while. Went for Sunday lunch and was very mediocre... meat tasted like it was from a packet and very dry.. gravy very weak ... only vegetable served with it was cabbage.. small amount...

Portions seem to have got smaller. The menu states you can have beans but the don't have them. Cornish pasty had very little filling. Side portion of chips was very small. Not worth the money in my opinion.
