As its all changed The food was ok Bar area was really busy Restaurant part just us nice and quiet but lacked atmosphere. Food was ok.. Didn't like seeing chefs going to smoke alot and then wondering if they wished there hands... just put us off.

Agree with a lot of the recent reviews, average/poor food and service was very mixed - great chef on the carvery, bar staff didn't want to be there. Fear this place has been taken down market when given the area it should be pitched at a much higher level.

Lovely place for a quiet lunchtime catch up with friends.

Very welcoming staff! Great prices, lovely setting. Very big with ample seating. Lots of TVs too so no chance of missing any sports! Definitely worth a visit. Happy hour prices are irresistible!

The refurb is decent, bit lacking in atmosphere on a Friday night though.

Sports bar, minimal menu. Cold in back bar, had Sunday lunch carvery, TVs on in every room. Loud background music, aimed at young families, men / people watching sport. Good selection of vegetables, Yorkshire, roast potatoes, very little flavour though. Very few staff, no atmosphere either. Very much fast food in and out in two hours for a table.Wont be rushing back.

I asked about gluten free options and was told that everything on the menu was gluten free.. total happiness!!!!! I had the fish and chips which was awesome. Lovely crispy batter.

Absolutely great warmth of personality in waiters , very friendly and make you feel too priority ,mark was our waiter for the day and the table service was excellent, and the small talk was much appreciated, we felt really cared for , and the service from the chef jhon was amazing, we came in a bit late for breakfast and he still made us one with his spare time , great service deffo will be coming again!

We had a roast on NYE, absolutely delicious. Everything was super tasty and piping hot. Lovely friendly staff, our waiter (Mark) explained about the refurb happening in January. Looking forward to visiting again once it reopens.

Could be a good local bar but since under new management I've been twice and had to leave early both times due to very loud music levels.

I came at 12 O'clock on December the 12th with seven other friends for lunch. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and were very polite and helpful. Our server Mark was excellent. He was very professional and nothing was too much trouble. He even offered to take some group photos for us. The food was brilliant and we couldn't find any fault with our meals. The portion sizes were great to. Overall we all had a lovely afternoon catching up with eachother and we will certainly consider visiting again. Thanks to all the staff, especially Mark who helped give us a great afternoon.

Just called in briefly for coffee and cake - both thoroughly made , presented and served . Very good atmosphere and ambiance for an early Saturday afternoon. Very pleasant , helpful and friendly staff. The new menus , opening hours and “Happy Hour” offers look inviting - we’ll be back. Also looking forward to the refurb in early 2024 by new ownership - exciting times. Many thanks .

We’ve always liked the discovery and we were saddened that they sold but within a few days croseo seemed to have made a positive impact. We went for a couple of pints on Sunday early evening. I’m over the moon with the draught lagers they’ve added: Amstel, peroni, ashahi, madri, birre moretti! The bar had a real buzz to it. They’d made an effort with the Christmas decs and I overheard fellow guests raving about the food. We’ll eat there soon, had a look at the menu and it looks really good. So far, so good. Well done.

Cake here with a group of friends and kids. Terrible. We had food we didn't order, slow service, no condiments, cold uncooked food and if that wasn't enough, we were told "the sundae is the brownie". It's under new management now so PLEASE AVOID

Oh well, there goes a great little gem for Sunday Lunch. We have been visiting this establishment for a number of years especially as they would have such great service and very tasty food. That is unfortunately no longer the case especially when it comes to the food. I feel really sorry for the staff, especially those legacy members that now have to deal with the new regime. Slow cooked beef joint has been replaced with cheaper cuts of chewy beef and buffet style veg that you would expect at a Weatherspoons. Hard boiled tasteless veg quantity over quality. If this is a new chef then I hope they are still in their appraisal period. Rude, patronising and childish to the public. This is just such a shame… as a local I feel that other locals will be equally annoyed with the change of emphasis to a happy hour culture If Carling made pubs then they would be proud of this.

Reopened under new management Pubs being cleaned, spic. And span by a group of people that really know how to run pubs I was lucky to be treated to food after my work was finished Honestly the best burger I've tasted for years!! This will be a great asset for the locals

Had a meal two years absolutely loved it , this time had a bad experience and was cold .

What a shame this is a lovely pub but customer service is so poor. Having been coming regularly since it was renovated and food is lovely but the waiting staff are shocking. Tried again tonight in the hope things had changed. Pub was not busy but had to wait ages for a menu and then drinks and then food. There were a few bar staff but no sign of them and had to keep prompting them to take our order and bring us drinks and then the bill and then the card machine. Even then the plates were not cleared. They need some serious training on how to look after their customers. Won’t be rushing back sadly.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH SERVICE FROM HERE, WE ATTENDED AN EVENT TODAY WHICH WAS IN MEMORY OF OUR CHILDREN WHO WE HAVE LOST THROUGH CANCER, NOT ONLY WAS THE FOOD LATE, COLD AND OVERCOOKED, PRE ORDERED FOOD WASN’T AVAILABLE, CUTLERY DIRTY, GLASSES DIRTY, STAFF WHERE RUDE AND PROVIDED APPALLING SERVICE, THIS EVENT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FAMILY’S GETTING TOGETHER TO REMEMBER CHILDREN THEY HAVE LOST AT THIS DIFFICULT TIME OF YEAR AND TO TOP IT OFF WE GOT KICKED OUT 10 MINUTES AFTER DESSERTS WHERE FETCHED OUT CAUSE THEY HAD DOUBLE BOOKED AND ALLOUD THE NEXT PARTY TO COME IN AND SET UP BEFORE OUR EVENT HAD FINISHED, WHO WHERE ALL LAUGHING JOKING AND PLAYING MUSIC BEFORE WE EVEN HAD CHANCE TO PUT OUR COATS ON, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED THAT THE PUBS MANAGEMENT ALOUD THIS TO HAPPEN WITHOUT EVEN APOLOGISING!!!!

Steak night I ordered a medium it came burnt and dry I asked for another steak That did come medium but 20 mins later with the same chips which by now were inedible I do not know if it’s shortage of staff or because the pub is up for sale Very sad I live locally a it used to be excellent but recently inconsistent quality Will not be eating there again

Oh dear….. despite being very empty this tired old pub made it difficult to even buy beer…..I really will try to avoid

Popped in for lunch yesterday, well worth the visit here. Lovely friendly staff, nice home made food, we had the Cod and chips and it was delicious, up there with the best fish I've had! Special thanks to Mark for waiting on us and Harry the chef. Dai iawn

Harry and his team did a fantastic job at hosting a hockey dinner for parents and players - 43 in total. Not an easy number to cater for but all the food came out together and was very tasty. Definitely recommend! Huge thank you for making the night a success!

Staff very good. I had squid to start too much space. For main had brisket it tasted like game the only good part were the parsnips. My wife had chicken supreme not too bad . Sweet choice poor .

Been there twice and both times the food I ordered did not match the description on the menu. Both times the service did not mention that eg. they don't have salmon so will give me cod or that they don't have any veggies so the 'burger' will be a bun with meat and bacon only. Also their aperol spritz tasted like slightly flavoured water.

Went for my anniversary beginning of May which happen to coincide with steak night put it this way I couldn't have been happier the steak was cooked perfect and the staff are always lovely in there, not alot of people will know this but some of us used to call it the disco ery because the v had been missing for a while on the signage this was a while ago tho, still enjoy going there keep up the good work.

Such a disappointing experience. We came a while back and the Sunday lunch was outstanding.!! Clearly a different chef now. It was awful from start to finish. Table was not laid properly to start with., 1 fork on a table of 4. Starters where Hurrendous, the combination of the ingredients just did not combine well together. The food was cold, the Yorkshire puds where black!! we sent them back! The food was tasteless, a Spoonful of Cabbage, 1 carrot, 3 Roasties, and a burnt Yorkshire, ohh and let's not forget the genorous dripping of gravy. There was no colour to plate at all, the veg was so overcooked and soggy that the colour had actually gone.! The roast potatoes where vile, Iceland frozen ones would of been better. So overpriced for what you get, the quality of the food for the price is a joke to bo honest. The toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, spider webbs in every corner accompanied by several spiders. Handryer not working and no supply of paper towels to dry hands either. The place felt grubby and dirty. This place seems to have dramatically gone down hill since our last visit. Absolutely awful food!!!! Avoid at all costs!!

Accessible and in a great location with ample parking. Nicely decorated inside, staff are always polite and helpful and there is a good range of food and drink. Able to televise sporting events and there is always a nice, friendly atmosphere. Long may that continue 👌

This was a local of mine many years ago. I remember the lounge having an impressive, plush decor. Not now, everything is painted grey and looks tired. The bar definitely needs freshning up, but I guess those were different times.

The food was OK, supposed to be a Christmas menu (advertised on their website, but no sign of that on the day). I had the turkey, not sure how they got Brussels sprouts cooked but still as hard as bullets. Sticky Toffee pudding not available, so disappointing as that was what I was really looking forward to. We had a meal here this evening .. first off the wine wasn’t what I asked for so they changed it all good , however the menu is awful and £24 for a sirloin steak in a mediocre pub with no atmosphere is extortionate .
